Aging of the skin appears in circumscribed as well as in generalized forms. The localized alterations may be subdivided in such of inflammatory origin and in hyperplastic ones. The latter include benign and also precancerous tumors. The generalized and usually premature manifestations of cutaneous senescence are almost always part of some hereditary disease which frequently also affects the viscera, sense organs, skeleton, and the nervous system.

Based on our first 200 investigations computed tomography of the heart is demonstrated as a new non-invasive roentgenography on typical examples and compared with the findings of the conventional roentgenogram. With the present technology the following indications for computed tomography of the heart seem to be reasonable: Calculation of size and volume of the cavities of the heart; intracavitary space occupying lesions (tumor, thrombus): demonstration of the thickness of the ventricular wall and ventricular septum and their changes caused by hypertrophy, myocardial infarction or septal defect; demonstration of aortic and ventricular aneurysm; demonstration of pericardial effusion, pericardial tumor, pericardial cyst of lipoma.

The physiological process of aging causes changes in volumen and composition of saliva, gastric and pancreatic juice and bile flow, a diminished absorption and an altered bacterial flora. However, these changes are compensated and do not cause symptoms. Besides of an increased disposition to develop carcinoma of the gut the alimentary tract in contrast to the cardiovascular system has no specific symptomatology as signs of wear. In old age, too, functional disorders rank first in clinical symptomatology.     

The EEG in hypercalcemia (author's transl)]

The EEG of 20 patients with hypercalcemia of different aetiology were investigated. (Hyperparthyreodism n = 14; Carcinomas with metastases n = 5; plasmocytom n = 1). General abnormalities were observed in most cases in different severity with a decrease of frequencies (n = 13) and an abnormal periodicity (n = 9). Beside one case there was a positive correlation between serum-calcium-level and EEG-abnormalities. Abnormal EEG-findings were observed mostly above serum calcium levels of 6,5 mval/1 = 13 mg%. There was a marked normalisation of EEG with decreasing serum-cacium-level. Different factors dealing with these abnormal EEG findings in hypercalcaemia were discussed.

A detailed review of drug-induced bronchospasm is presented. Four types of reactions are described. Furthermore, pathogenesis, clinical picture, treatment and prophylaxis of the "Aspirin-induced asthma" are demonstrated.
