V A Aita 《Nurse educator》1990,15(6):24-28
The author presents a framework for artistic nursing practice that fits within the nursing process and balances scientific principles with artistic concepts. The framework can be used by nurse educators to help them teach the qualitative aspects of nursing care. In addition, artistic concepts which relate to the nursing process, including vision, composition, theme, perspective, congruency, line, color, tone, style, technique, and intensity are discussed. 相似文献

The art of stained glass: metaphor for the art of nursing
The aesthetic is a way of knowing the meaning of and the meaning in the art of nursing. The art of creating stained glass offers a personal metaphor for nursing's essence; the art of caring. Both arts aim to fulfil the potential of their subjects to achieve a harmony that goes beyond their individual components. Stained glass artistry and caring in nursing require technical expertise, yet technical skill and knowledge are not the substance of either art. Both transcend space and time, and the art of stained glass and the art of nursing are influenced by the artist's/nurse's personal, social and cultural history. Just as die artisan transforms the glass and lead and is transformed in the creative moment, so does the caring transaction transform both patient and nurse. This personal reflection explores the nature of caring in nursing as mirrored by the author's work with stained glass. 相似文献

It is often said that management is a science as well as an art. Nursing managers have to master the science of management and make management an art, which is the goal of nursing leadership. The purpose of this paper was to integrate the views of Eastern and Western scholars and propose a combination of science and art in nursing management, to include the following components: the art of management and leadership; the art of to manage or not to manage, the art of leadership, and the art of delegation. The concept of "government by doing nothing that goes against nature," of Taoism, "Zen management," from Buddhism, and "situational leadership" have also been considered in this paper in the hope of providing guidance for nursing management. 相似文献

This patient's story was constructed from a study designed to describe how the art of nursing was perceived and understood by patients during a critical illness. Two in-depth interviews were conducted during the recovery phase of this person's illness to answer the question, "When is nursing (considered) art?" The initial lead-in to the discussion was, "Tell me a story about a nursing situation that really stood out in your mind--one that was significant and meaningful." The interviews were tape recorded, transcribed, condensed into a short story and shared with the participant. The researcher, also, composed a response to the person's story that personally expressed what the story triggered for her. Undergraduate nursing students were invited to reflect and respond to the "aesthetic face" of nursing from the perspective of a person who was nursed while critically ill. An example of a student response is included. 相似文献

It is a common assumption that nursing is an art. Art in this sense is sometimes taken to mean a fine art, and sometimes a skill or craft. This paper reviews some of the arguments for nursing as an art and concludes that nursing is not a fine art, but that it is an art in the more general sense of a craft or skill performed by people. It is further argued that, in most instances, to say that nursing is an art tells us little or nothing that is useful and the word 'art' is redundant in this context. 相似文献

Nursing is a complex activity and it is not easy to ascertain the source that contributes to the practice. This article examines and reflects upon the fundamental purposes that may be inherent in orthopaedic nursing practice. The conclusions are based on the findings of how art, science and knowledge contribute to nursing care within the orthopaedic setting, and whether these findings are valuable to practice. 相似文献
