Purpose

The aim of this investigation was to suggest practices to improve the delivery of work-integrated learning (WIL) in radiography training in South Africa (SA).

Methods

An extensive survey was conducted among all universities in SA involved in the training of radiography students, to investigate the current delivery of WIL. Data were collected by means of quantitative questionnaires with open-ended qualitative components. The questionnaire was distributed to lecturers (n = 32), clinical supervisors (n = 44) and final-year students in Radiography (n = 146).

Results

The quantitative (closed questions) and qualitative (open-ended comments) findings from the stakeholders with regard to the improvement of practice in the delivery of WIL in radiography training are presented in this article. The main themes discussed relate to curriculum design for WIL, teaching/learning of WIL, assessment of WIL and management and coordination of WIL.

Conclusion

WIL is a powerful pedagogy if implemented and managed correctly. The results from this study may enable lecturers in radiography programmes in SA to improve the delivery of WIL in the training of high quality, employable graduates.  相似文献

Purpose

To compare the efficacy of lymph node (LN) embolization using N-butyl cyanoacrylate versus ethanol sclerotherapy in the management of symptomatic postoperative pelvic lymphorrhea.

Materials and Methods

Thirty-three patients with 40 instances of symptomatic postoperative lymphorrhea were treated with either LN embolization or sclerotherapy at Seoul National University Hospital from January 2009 to July 2017 and were retrospectively included (LN embolization group: 24 lymphoceles of 19 patients, mean age of 59.29 years; sclerotherapy group: 16 lymphoceles of 14 patients, mean age of 60.95 years). The types of operations were hysterectomy and bilateral oophorectomy with pelvic lymph node dissection (n = 9), radical prostatectomy (n = 3), and renal transplantation (n = 2) for the sclerotherapy group and radical prostatectomy (n = 10) and hysterectomy and bilateral oophorectomy with pelvic lymph node dissection (n = 9) for the LN embolization group. The 3 most common indications of treatment were lower extremity edema (n = 11), pain (n = 11), and fever (n = 8). The amount of leak before treatment (initial daily drainage) and clinical outcomes, including the clinical success rate in 3 weeks, treatment period, and complication rate were compared between both groups.

Results

LN embolization showed a higher 3-week clinical success rate than sclerotherapy in a univariate analysis (83.3% and 43.8%, P = .026). There was no statistically significant difference in the treatment period and the complication rate (7.1 days and 12.3 days, P = .098; 8.3% and 25.0%, P = .184).

Conclusions

LN embolization is more effective for treating postoperative pelvic lymphorrhea than sclerotherapy with similar safety.  相似文献

Introduction

By 2013, the UK government's Migration Advisory Committee had determined sonography to be a formal shortage speciality, and understaffing remains a key concern for research in the domain. This paper, emergent of a qualitative study funded by Health Education North West, explores unit managers' perspectives on the present state of UK ultrasound. The focus herein falls upon the personal and interpersonal consequences of this circumstance for individuals working in specific understaffed departments.

Methods

A thematic analysis informed by a Straussian model of Grounded Theory was utilised; N = 20 extended accounts provided by ultrasound department leads in public (n = 18) and private (n = 2) units were collected and analysed accordingly.

Results

The global themes addressed herein describe (a) how both inter-departmental movement of senior sonographers and early retirement, within a nationally understaffed picture, impacts upon local knowledge economies, and (b) how such staffing instabilities can undermine the day-to-day confidence of managerial staff and practicing sonographers alike.

Conclusions

It is personnel flux, rather than simple short-staffing, that is reported to cause the greatest social-psychological problems for both managers and sonographers. The issues raised herein require further examination from the perspective of sonographers themselves, in order to corroborate the views of the managers interviewed.  相似文献

Purpose

To compare the feasibility and safety of mono-port catheter system and dual-port catheter system for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in patients with anatomic hepatic artery variation and portal vein tumor thrombosis.

Materials and Methods

This retrospective study consisted of 22 patients with infiltrative or multiple HCC with unilateral or bilateral portal vein thrombosis who had hepatic artery variation. A mono-port or dual-port catheter system was determined according to the degree of blood supply to the entire tumor through the common hepatic and variant hepatic arteries. Intrahepatic perfusion pattern, hepatic toxicity, and tumor response were investigated on computed tomography, medical records, and follow-up imaging study.

Results

The most common hepatic arterial variation was replaced right hepatic artery arising from the superior mesenteric artery (n = 16), followed by replaced left hepatic artery (n = 5) and replaced right posterior segmental artery (n = 1). Twelve patients were treated with mono-port catheter system, and 10 patients were treated with dual-port catheter system. All 10 patients in the dual-port group showed homogeneous distribution of contrast material in the entire liver after port implantation, and 6 patients (50%, n = 6/12) in the mono-port group showed heterogeneous distribution (P = .018). The objective tumor response rates (P = .361) were 18.2% and 40%, and the disease control rates (P = .395) were 36.4% and 60% in the mono-port and dual-port groups, respectively.

Conclusions

The dual-port catheter system is a safe and effective technique that allows the even distribution of hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy without hemodynamic modification of anatomic variation in the hepatic arteries.  相似文献

Purpose

To compare treatment with hepatic arterial infusion of chemotherapy (HAIC) in patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with both extrahepatic spread (EHS) and intrahepatic tumor and patients with intrahepatic tumor only.

Materials and Methods

This single-center retrospective study comprised 116 patients with advanced HCC with both intrahepatic tumor and EHS (EHS group; n = 50) or with intrahepatic tumor only (non-EHS group; n = 66) treated with HAIC including oxaliplatin, fluorouracil, and leucovorin between June 2014 and July 2016. Overall survival (OS) and radiologic responses to treatment were determined and compared between the 2 groups.

Results

Both the objective response rate and the clinical benefit rate were higher in the non-EHS group than in the EHS group (37.9% vs 16% objective response rate, P = .010; 81.8% vs 62% clinical benefit rate, P = .017). Median OS was not statistically different between the 2 groups (14.8 months vs 9.8 months, P = .068). Subgroup analysis of OS found that patients with lung metastases survived for a shorter time (OS 7 months) than patients with other metastatic sites (P = .003) and patients free of metastases (P = .001).

Conclusions

HAIC is a potential treatment option for advanced HCC with limited extrahepatic metastases in a population with hepatitis B virus infection.  相似文献

Purpose

To assess technical success of arterial recanalization in children requiring repeated arterial access and intervention.

Materials and Methods

Over 14 years, 41 attempts to cross 30 arterial occlusions were made in 22 patients (13 male, 9 female). Median patient age was 12 months (15 days–14 years), and weight was 7.6 kg (3.0–77.3 kg). Techniques and outcomes were recorded.

Results

Twenty-five of 41 (61%) attempts at crossing an arterial occlusion were successful. Nineteen of 30 (63%) first attempts to cross occlusions were successful, and 6 of 11 (55%) repeat attempts were successful. The occluded segments were combinations of common femoral artery (n = 4), external iliac artery (n = 36), common iliac artery (n = 11), and aorta (n = 1). Complications occurred in 5 of 41(12%) attempts: 3 minor complications (hematoma, extravasation, and transient leg ischemia) and 2 major complications (rupture and thrombosis).

Conclusions

Arterial access by recanalization of occluded segments is technically feasible in children, with a low complication rate.  相似文献

Introduction

Attendance of adult patients to the Emergency Department (ED) with acute abdominal pain is a frequent event. Abdominal X-ray imaging (AXR) is commonly the first line of investigation but previous studies have suggested that the AXR has no place in assessing acute abdominal pain because of its low diagnostic yield and limited contribution to direct clinical decision making. However, no evaluation of the impact of a negative AXR on the clinical confidence and decision making of emergency clinicians has been undertaken. This study aims to fill this gap.

Method

A self-designed paper questionnaire was distributed to medical clinicians on ED placement at a single NHS trust in the South of England. The survey sought to explore the impact of the negative AXR on clinical confidence and decision making and compliance with iRefer guidelines for referring to alternative imaging modalities (ultrasound and computed tomography) should the option to refer for AXR be restricted.

Results

A total of 28 (n = 28/41; 68.3%) completed questionnaires were returned. Most clinicians (n = 18/28; 64.3%) indicated that negative AXR had little impact on their clinical decision making although a small majority (n = 10/18; 55.6%) acknowledged it provided greater clinical confidence in their decision making. Variable compliance with iRefer guidelines for referral to ultrasound and computed tomography was noted.

Conclusion

Whilst the negative AXR did not impact on the clinical decision making of most ED clinicians, it did increase clinical confidence. Consequently, the AXR should remain a referral option in the workup for adult patients presenting with acute abdominal pain to the emergency department.  相似文献

Purpose

To evaluate the long-term results of and patient satisfaction with trapezius ports in breast cancer patients, as an alternative to chest ports.

Patients and Methods

This retrospective study included all patients who underwent trapezius port placement from December 2007 to January 2017. Seventy female patients with breast cancer, with a mean age of 54 ± 9.9 years (range, 29–76 years), were included. Indications for trapezius implantation were bilateral breast surgery or unilateral breast surgery and contralateral breast involvement. Sixty-eight of 70 patients had long-term follow-up. A retrospective, questionnaire-based survey was conducted to assess satisfaction and the trapezius port’s effect on the daily life of the patient.

Results

All implantations were technically successful. Total catheter service time for 68 patients was 65,952 days (2 patients were lost to follow-up). Mean catheter service time was 969.8 days (range 7–3,458 days; median 570 days; 95% confidence interval, 739–1199; standard deviation, 947.7). No immediate procedural complications occurred. Port complications developed in 4 patients (5.9%); port infection developed in 2 patients (0.03/1,000 days); skin dehiscence developed in 1 patient (0.02/1,000 days); and port malfunction developed in 1 patient (0.02/1,000 days). The overall infection rate was 2.9% (2/68). All patients (n = 44) or a close relative (n = 17) who were interviewed with a phone call reported satisfaction regarding their ports.

Conclusions

Trapezius ports offer a safe and feasible option to patients with breast cancer who need an alternative site to chest ports. It is also associated with high overall patient satisfaction.  相似文献

Purpose

To evaluate the statewide variability in the role of different specialties in lower extremity endovascular revascularization (LEER) and associated submitted charges of care and actual reimbursement for Medicare beneficiaries.

Methods

The 2015 “Medicare Provider Utilization and Payment Data: Physician and Other Supplier” data includes provider-specific information regarding the type of service, submitted average charges of care, and actual average Medicare reimbursements per Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) code per provider. All HCPCS codes related to LEER were identified. The role of vascular surgery (VS), interventional cardiology (IC), and interventional radiology (IR) in each HCPCS-specific intervention was investigated.

Results

In 2015, 4113 providers submitted claims for iliac (n = 13,659), femoropopliteal (n = 52,344), and tibioperoneal (n = 32,688) endovascular revascularizations. In the facility setting, VS performed most of these procedures (52%), followed by IC (32%) and IR (8%). In the outpatient-based lab setting, the proportions were 46%, 36%, and 13%, respectively. Substantial statewide variability in the role of different specialties in LEER was noted. In Maine, Vermont, and Hawaii, all facility claims were submitted by VS, while more than 70% of the claims in Arizona and Utah were submitted by IC. The highest share of LEER for IR was observed in Montana and North Dakota (50%). There was substantial statewide variability in the submitted charges.

Conclusion

Currently, less than 10% of LEER procedures are being performed by IR. The statewide variability in the submitted charges of care by providers and actual reimbursement for Medicare beneficiaries were investigated in this study.  相似文献

Purpose

To determine success and complication rates of percutaneous transjejunal biliary access (PTJBA) in patients with bilioenteric anastomoses.

Materials and Methods

In a single-center, retrospective study, 169 PTJBA procedures were performed over a 13.8-y period in 60 subjects (47 male; mean age, 54.5 y). Indications for biliary interventions were cholangitis (137 cases, 45 subjects) or hyperbilirubinemia (32 cases, 18 subjects). All patients had antecolic bilioenteric anastomoses without surgical fixation to the peritoneum (liver transplantation with hepaticojejunostomy, n = 37; hepatectomy with hepaticojejunostomy, n = 8; hepaticojejunostomy only, n = 12; pancreaticoduodenectomy, n = 3).

Results

Initial PTJBA was successful in 140 cases (82.8%) in 35 subjects (58.3%). Twenty-one additional PTJBAs (12.4%) in 18 subjects (30.0%) were performed secondarily following a conventional transhepatic approach. Radiographic markers on the Roux-en-Y limb (P = .14, odds ratio [OR] = 2.98) or preprocedural imaging (P = .13, OR = 10.00) did not increase the odds of successful PTJBA. There were 7 major complications (4.3%) in 6 patients (10.0%) requiring hospitalization longer than 5 d, and 37 minor complications (23.0%) in 19 patients (31.7%). No procedure-related mortality was observed. Minor and major complication rates were not affected by time between bilioenteric anastomosis creation and PTJBA (P = .70, OR = 1.00; P = .62, OR = 1.00), longer dwell time of a transjejunal drain (P = .68, OR = 1.02; P = .49, OR = 0.71), or access size (P = .40, OR = 0.85; P = .23, OR = 0.59).

Conclusions

PTJBA is a relatively safe technique with a high success rate in patients with bilioenteric loops that are not surgically fixed to the peritoneum.  相似文献

Purpose

To assess safety, efficacy, and long-term outcome of repeat bronchial artery embolization (BAE) for recurrent hemoptysis.

Materials and Methods

This was a retrospective study of patients referred for repeat BAE to manage recurrent hemoptysis after initial successful embolization. BAE was performed in 223 patients; 36 (16.1%) of these patients underwent 59 repeat BAE procedures because of recurring symptoms. The most frequent underlying lung diseases were bronchiectasis (n = 8; 22%), cystic fibrosis (n = 7; 19%), and idiopathic hemoptysis (n = 7; 19%).

Results

Most patients (64%) underwent 2 embolization procedures owing to vessel recanalization (71%) as the most frequent pathophysiologic mechanism of recurrent hemoptysis. No serious adverse events requiring prolonged hospital stay were noted. Risk for relapse of hemoptysis was significantly lower for bronchiectasis compared with other chronic infections (P = .0022) and cystic fibrosis (P = .0004). Overall survival after 3-year and 5-year follow-up was 92% and 84%, respectively.

Conclusions

Repeat BAE for recurrent hemoptysis after initial successful BAE is safe and efficacious, especially in patients with bronchiectasis as the underlying lung disease.  相似文献

Purpose

To address the feasibility of infusion of yttrium-90 (90Y) glass microspheres directly through the right inferior phrenic artery (RIPA).

Materials and Methods

From November 2015 to May 2017, 20 patients underwent 90Y radioembolization through the RIPA. When the systemic-to-pulmonary shunt was demonstrated on C-arm computed tomography (CT) of the RIPA, prophylactic embolization by polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) particles was performed prior to infusion of 90Y glass microspheres. Follow-up CT scans were retrospectively reviewed for pulmonary complications. Tumor response was determined by the modified Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors.

Results

Nine (45%) patients had systemic-to-pulmonary shunts on C-arm CT images of the RIPA. The feeder of the systemic-to-pulmonary shunt was the azygoesophageal branch (n = 7) and the anterior branch (n = 2). The mean activity of 90Y glass microspheres infused into the RIPA was 0.49 GBq (range, 0.19–1.55 GBq). No patient had symptomatic radiation pneumonitis or cutaneous complications during follow-up. Seven patients had focal atelectasis (n = 5), focal ground-glass opacity (n = 2), and/or a small amount of pleural effusion (n = 2) on follow-up image. Best tumor response fed by the RIPA was complete response (n = 4), partial response (n = 9), stable disease (n = 2), progressive disease (n = 4), and unevaluable (n = 1).

Conclusion

The administration of 90Y glass microspheres through the RIPA may be safe after embolization of a systemic-to-pulmonary shunt identified on C-arm CT.  相似文献

Purpose

To evaluate the effectiveness and durability of intra-arterial aneurysm sac embolization for the treatment of type Ia endoleak after endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR).

Materials and Methods

From February 2011 to December 2016, 22 patients underwent embolization of a type Ia endoleak after EVAR. Four patients (18%) were treated during the index EVAR and 18 (82%) in follow-up. Five patients (23%) were treated urgently and 17 (77%) electively. The embolization was performed with the use of liquid embolic agent, coils, and/or plugs. Adjunctive neck procedures were performed in 55% (n = 12) of the patients. The primary endpoint of this study was freedom from sac enlargement. Key secondary endpoints were technical success and freedom from endoleak-related reinterventions.

Results

Technical success was 100%. The 30-day mortality was 5% (n = 1; acute coronary syndrome). At a mean follow-up of 15.4 months (range 0.1–65.4) the freedom from sac enlargement rate was 76% (16 out of 21). Reintervention-free survival rates at 6, 12, and 24 months were 80%, 68% and 68%, respectively.

Conclusions

In patients with persistent type Ia endoleak the embolization of the aneurysm sac with or without adjunctive neck procedures can be safely performed, leading to acceptable clinical and radiologic outcomes.  相似文献

Purpose

To determine if there is a correlation between intrahepatic tumor volume and future liver remnant (FLR) hypertrophy after portal vein embolization (PVE).

Materials and Methods

Forty-four consecutive patients with hepatocellular carcinoma or metastatic colorectal cancer who underwent PVE from 2009 to 2017 and who had complete imaging follow-up were retrospectively reviewed. To maximize the accuracy of tumor volume measurements, 11 patients were excluded for having more than 5 intrahepatic tumors. Volumetric analyses of the patient livers before and after PVE, as well as pre-embolization intrahepatic tumor burden, were performed.

Results

A significant inverse correlation was observed between tumor volume and FLR hypertrophy after PVE (Spearman ρ = -0.53, P = .002). Initial FLR volume was also inversely correlated with subsequent hypertrophy (P = .01). Fourteen patients received neoadjuvant chemotherapy 1 month prior to intervention. The number of chemotherapy cycles did not affect hypertrophy (P = .57). Patients with cirrhosis experienced less FLR hypertrophy than patients without cirrhosis (P = .02).

Conclusions

Patients with large intrahepatic tumor burden may experience limited FLR hypertrophy.  相似文献

Purpose

To compare reinterventions and associated costs to maintain arteriovenous graft hemodialysis access circuits after rescue with percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA), with or without concurrent Viabahn stent grafts, over 24 months.

Materials and Methods

This multicenter (n = 30 sites) study evaluated reintervention number, type, and cost in 269 patients randomized to undergo placement of stent grafts or PTA alone. Outcomes were 24-month average cumulative number of reinterventions, associated costs, and total costs for all patients and in 4 groups based on index treatment and clinical presentation (thrombosed or dysfunctional).

Results

Over 24 months, the patients in the stent graft arm had a 27% significant reduction in the average number of reinterventions within the circuit compared to the PTA arm (3.7 stent graft vs 5.1 PTA; P = .005) and similar total costs ($27,483 vs $28,664; P = .49). In thrombosed grafts, stent grafts significantly reduced the number of reinterventions (3.7 stent graft vs 6.2 PTA; P = .022) and had significantly lower total costs compared to the PTA arm ($30,329 vs $37,206; P = .027). In dysfunctional grafts, no statistical difference was observed in the number of reinterventions or total costs (3.7 stent graft vs 4.4 PTA; P = .12, and $25,421 stent graft and $22,610 PTA; P = .14).

Conclusions

Over 24 months, the use of stent grafts significantly reduced the number of reinterventions for all patients, driven by patients presenting with thrombosed grafts. Compared to PTA, stent grafts reduced overall treatment costs for patients presenting with thrombosed grafts and had similar costs for stenotic grafts.  相似文献

Purpose

To evaluate imaging-related hemorrhagic risk factors for ultrasound (US)-guided native kidney biopsy.

Materials and Methods

A retrospective review was conducted of adult patients who underwent US-guided native kidney biopsy at a single center between January 2006 and March 2016 and identified 37 of 551 patients (6.72%) with postbiopsy bleeding complications, including 11 major complications (2.00%; n = 11) and 26 minor complications (4.72%; n = 26). Ten patients with major complications and 20 with minor complications were matched with 20 control subjects each by propensity score matching based on age, needle size, number of cores, blood pressure, partial thromboplastin time, prothrombin time, platelet count, and estimated glomerular filtration rate.

Results

Biopsy needle passing through the renal sinus was identified in the patients with major (6 of 10; 60%) and minor complications (8 of 20; 40.0%) but not in the control groups. For patients with major complications, the needle–sinus distance was significantly shorter (5.11 mm ± 7.32 vs 11.14 mm ± 3.54; P = .023) and the needle–capsule distance was significantly longer (17.52 mm ± 8.04 vs 9.28 mm ± 3.29; P = .0004) than in control subjects. The bimodal distribution of cortical tangential angles (< 30° or ≥ 60°) in minor complication cases (17 of 20; 85.0%) was significantly greater than in the control group (8 of 20; 40.0%; odds ratio = 8.50; P = .004).

Conclusions

This study identifies imaging risk factors in US-guided native kidney biopsy and recommends an algorithm to manage them, including appropriate needle path position between the renal capsule and sinus and proper needle cortical tangential angle.  相似文献

Purpose

The National Mammography Database (NMD) contains nearly 20 million examinations from 693 facilities; it is the largest information source for use and effectiveness of breast imaging in the United States. NMD collects demographic, imaging, interpretation, biopsy, and basic pathology results, enabling facility and physician comparison for quality improvement. However, NMD lacks treatment and clinical outcomes data. The network of state cancer registries (CRs) contains detailed pathologic, treatment, and clinical outcomes data. This pilot study assessed electronic linkage of NMD and CR data at a multicenter institution as proof of concept.

Materials and Methods

We obtained Quality Oversight Committee approval for this retrospective study. Data of patients diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014 and 2015 were retrieved from our NMD-approved radiology information system (RIS) and matched with reportable patients in our CR using social security number (SSN), first name (fname), last name (lname), and date of birth (DOB). Matching was repeated without SSN. Percentage and reasons for mismatch were evaluated.

Results

The RIS query identified 1,316 patients. CR linkage was 99.2% successful (n = 1,305 of 1,316) using SSN, fname, lname, and DOB. Eleven mismatches included four CR case-finding failures, one NMD fname error, five nonreportable in the CR, and one with correct identifiers in both databases. Without SSN, linkage was 97.3% successful (n = 1,281 of 1,316); name errors accounted for 19 and DOB accounted for 5 additional mismatches.

Conclusion

Using common data elements, linkage between the NMD and state CRs may be feasible and could provide critical outcomes information to advance accurate assessment of breast imaging in the United States.  相似文献

Purpose

To investigate the potential added value of paclitaxel-coated balloon (PCB) angioplasty to reduce fistula dysfunction related to recurrent stenoses in patients undergoing hemodialysis.

Materials and Methods

A prospective, randomized study was conducted in 3 dialysis referral centers. From January 2013 to October 2015, 64 patients (22 female, 42 male) with dysfunctional autologous dialysis fistulae were randomized to undergo conventional percutaneous balloon angioplasty (n = 31) or PCB angioplasty (n = 33). Procedural and postprocedural data were assessed. Primary patency of the fistula was evaluated at 3, 6, and 12 months following the procedure. Statistical analysis was based on the Fisher exact test and independent t test.

Results

There were no procedural or postprocedural complications. After 3, 6, and 12 months of follow-up, primary patency rates after PCB angioplasty and percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) were 88% and 80% (P = .43), 67% and 65% (P = .76), and 42% and 39% (P = .95), respectively.

Conclusions

Although primary patency rates after PCB angioplasty in autologous dialysis fistulae at 3, 6, and 12 months of follow-up are slightly better than those after PTA, the difference is not statistically significant.  相似文献

Purpose

To demonstrate rates of successful filter conversion and 6-month major device-related adverse events in subjects with converted caval filters.

Materials and Methods

An investigational device exemption multicenter, prospective, single-arm study was performed at 11 sites enrolling 149 patients. The VenaTech Convertible Vena Cava Filter (B. Braun Interventional Systems, Inc, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania) was implanted in 149 patients with venous thromboembolism and contraindication to or failure of anticoagulation (n = 119), with high-risk trauma (n = 14), and for surgical prophylaxis (n = 16). When the patient was no longer at risk for pulmonary embolism as determined by clinical assessment, an attempt at filter conversion was made. Follow-up of converted patients (n = 93) was conducted at 30 days, 3 months, and 6 months after conversion. Patients who did not undergo a conversion attempt (n = 53) had follow-up at 6 months after implant.

Results

All implants were successful. One 7-day migration to the right atrium required surgical removal. Technical success rate for filter conversion was 92.7% (89/96). Mean time from placement to conversion was 130.7 days (range, 15–391 d). No major conversion-related events were reported. The mean conversion procedure time was 30.7 minutes (range, 7–135 min). There were 89 converted and 32 unconverted patients who completed 6-month follow-up with no delayed complications.

Conclusions

The VenaTech Convertible filter has a high conversion rate and low 6-month device-related adverse event rate. Further studies are necessary to determine long-term safety and efficacy in both converted and unconverted patients.  相似文献
