Espouses developmental psychopathology as a framework for training our future leaders due to its emphasis on an ecological, transactional lifespan perspective, as well as interdisciplinary bridging and policy focus. This perspective, used as a framework for questioning and thinking about the complex interplay of psychological and social phenomena, provides a method for closing the gaps in training future psychologists as it allows for the development of niche expertise under an umbrella of the broader, ecological perspective. In an increasingly complex world of shrinking mental health dollars and growing severity of mental health problems for families and youth, clinical psychologists are needed more than ever to solve social problems. The current training paradigms in clinical child psychology programs need redirection and clarification for future psychologists to contribute meaningfully to science, practice, and policy. This article provides background in the history and influence of the developmental psychopathology perspective, as well as future implications for doctoral training programs in clinical psychology.  相似文献

This paper presents the position that health psychology for children is not given proper attention in mainstream health psychology, which is primarily adult in orientation. It is proposed that the neglect of child-related problems in the recent Proceedings of the National Conference on Training in Health Psychology exemplifies the general orientation of mainstream health psychology, which views children's health problems primarily in terms of their effect on adult health rather than as problems that need current and immediate attention. We propose that applying a developmental perspective to the health psychology field would be one way of highlighting the fact that children's problems are unique and that children need to be viewed as something other than potential consumers of adult health psychology services or as agents for the prevention of adult health problems.  相似文献

Managed behavioral health care is a rapidly growing field that is becoming more complex, resulting in a blurring of traditional distinctions between different sectors of the industry. Practice guidelines and outcome research will become critical elements of future managed care approaches, and these elements will be part of an overall focus on improvement in the quality of care. Here a model of quality improvement that emphasizes differing levels of organization is proposed, and the role of psychology in the emerging health care system is discussed. The field of psychology has not ascended to a leadership role in the evolving health care system. Suggestions are made to move the field of psychology to assume a more significant role in the managed care system.  相似文献

The actual products of clinical-community-based training offered at the National Asian American Psychology Training Center (NAAPTC) internship are described. NAAPTC has responded to a need for comprehensive and specialized training which recognizes the multi-ethnic composition of American society and the diversity of the nation's mental health needs. The program has responded to the challenge by emphasizing a combination of broad based skill development, a community psychology model, and an interdisciplinary approach in its training experience. The many contrasting experiences offered are necessary to hone and refine diagnostic and therapeutic skills within a multi-ethnic community setting. These clinical, administrative, and community experiences are briefly reviewed to illustrate the comprehensive nature of the internship.  相似文献

This article argues for a gendered psychology of men's health. We argue that capitalism and patriarchy, through their reliance on a restrictive definition of masculinity, limit men's choices and impact on their health. A psychology of men's health situates men in their social, cultural and political contexts, addressing the social construction of masculinities and the effects of beliefs about appropriate behaviour on men's health. At the individual level, gender roles can explain men's reluctance to seek help; avoidance of emotional expression; unsafe sexual behaviours; and risk-taking including drug use, crime and dangerous sports. At a social level, identification of the self with paid work, and avoidance of family activities, are problematic. Dominant social discourses position these as freely chosen behaviours, implicitly blaming individual men for risky or antisocial choices; there is little awareness of the role of social constructions in men's choices. A gendered psychology of men's health uses of a variety of epistemologies, focuses on health in its broadest sense, considers the context and is sensitive to cultural diversity.  相似文献

目的:了解云南卫生人员吸烟者吸烟戒烟的行为及心理因素,为“吸烟与健康”控制政策的制定提供决策依据。方法:采用问卷调查研究方法,选择昆明、大理、丽江、玉溪和曲靖5个地区从事卫生工作的吸烟者作为调查对象。进行吸烟、戒烟的行为心理因素调查。结果:云南省卫生系统981名吸烟者开始吸烟的年龄出现低龄化趋势,吸烟的心理多样复杂,包括社会因素,家庭因素、自身因素;引起人们吸烟的条件和吸烟场所多样,对控烟及戒烟的态度积极,但戒烟成功率较低。结论:建议开展健康教育,纠正人们不良的心理,提高戒烟成功率,增进人们健康。  相似文献

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (ACA) is revamping the access, quality, and financing of the health and mental health systems. However, its impact on training and education in clinical psychology is unclear. This article aims to identify specific components of the ACA, in particular the Mental and Behavioral Health Education and Training Grants, that are expected to affect training and education in the field. The article further connects the ACA with four paradigm shifts in clinical psychology that have broad implications for training and education—evidence‐based practices, research methodology, interprofessionalism, and the quality indicator movement. The overarching goal of this article is to begin timely discussions on the future directions of the field under the current healthcare reform.  相似文献

Rural communities were brought into the national mental health picture in the 1960s in President John F. Kennedy's Community Mental Health Centers Act of 1962. The delivery of services and the human resource application of that act designated rural areas as underserved, in need of some attention. Training programs in psychology, psychiatry, social work, and nursing focused some efforts to produce professional people who could work in the rural environment. As federal initiatives in community mental health have changed, the stimuli for the continued development of rural services have lagged. A thread of concern has lingered, however, as the article by Jameson and Blank (2007) demonstrates.  相似文献

Injuries are the major causes of death for children. Pediatricpsychology offers significant contributions to the multidisciplinaryefforts necessary to prevent injuries and reduce harm to children.This Task Force Report reviews epidemiological data, characteristicsof children's injuries, passive and active interventions forreducing injuries, and research, policy, and evaluation issuesfor individual and community injury control efforts. This issue of Patient Education and Counseling presents the state of the art of patient education in several European countries. It is based on papers presented at a meeting in Paris on the evolution and development of patient education in western, central and eastern Europe (May 1999). Also patient education in the US is presented in this issue. Patient education is defined as all the educational activities directed to patients, including aspects of therapeutic education, health education and clinical health promotion. Five important factors are identified in the development of patient education: (1) research and evidence based standards; (2) the organization of care; (3) training and methodological support; (4) professional values; and (5) acknowledgment, funding and place of patient education in health policy. Several of the discussed common orientations and priorities in the patient education in the reviewed countries are highlighted in this issue. And finally, an example of the possible integrated international practice in patient education in the field of diabetes is described in this issue. Several conclusions are drawn concerning future development of communication in health care within the framework of patient education in Europe.  相似文献

Associations of health policy perception with health behaviours are analysed. Policy perception is differentiated in information about programmes and appraisal of health policy's contribution to policy goals, and conceptualized on the level of: (1) individuals; and (2) populations (as a social climate indicator). Survey data from the Biomed2-Project MAREPS gathered in Belgium, Finland, Germany, The Netherlands, Spain and Switzerland (N= 3343) show that at the individual level, only policy information is associated with utilizing mammography, quitting smoking, physical activity and political participation in creating healthy environments. In contrast, multilevel regression analyses show that policy appraisal is related to physical activity and political participation as a social climate factor. Implications for integrating health psychology and public health within public health psychology are discussed.  相似文献

Over 25 years there has been a remarkable growth of theoretical and empirical studies in health psychology. Its theoretical underpinnings have been largely derivative, its focus primarily clinical, and its subject, the individual. Relatively little attention has been paid to the cultural, sociopolitical and economic conditions which set the context for individual health experience and behaviour. Theories which do not reflect the complex interaction of these variables are unlikely to provide a satisfactory account of individual health. Multidisciplinary efforts are needed at a community level to provide effective interventions which are relevant to the exposure groups being targeted. Health psychology needs measures which are valid and relevant to the general population regardless of culture, gender, social class or age. Putting health psychology into its cultural, sociopolitical and community context is a major priority for future development.  相似文献

目的探讨认知心理教育在改善大学生心理健康状况及相关影响因素方面的作用,为提高大学生心理健康水平提供有效措施。方法随机选取大一学生2个班(60人)作为实验组,对其进行为期3个月的认知心理教育;2个班(60人)作为对照组不做任何干预。用心身症状自评量表(SCL-90)、简易应对方式量表及社会支持量表对教育效果进行评价。结果在SCL-90中强迫、焦虑等4项实验组后测分值显著低于前测及对照组后测相应分值。在应对方式、社会支持量表中积极应对、主观支持和支持利用度等项,实验组后测分值显著高于前测及对照组后测相应值。对照组后测与前测分值比较差异均无显著性。结论认知心理教育在维护和提高大学生心理健康水平,改善其应对方式和提升社会支持程度方面有良好的作用。  相似文献

In May 1999, a European meeting was held in Paris on the evolution and developments of patient education. The situation in different European countries and the factors influencing the development and improvement of patient education were discussed. Five categories of factors were identified: research and evidence based standards, the organization of care, training and methodological support, professional value and acknowledgement, funding and place of patient education in health policy. Several common orientations and priorities for the development of patient education have been presented, and are highlighted in this paper.  相似文献

The midwife's field of competence is related to women's sexual and reproductive health care from a holistic perspective, based on a salutogenic model and the promotion of physiology. It is a professional recognized by the World Health Organization and European health institutions for its impact on improving reproductive health and its contribution to the sustainability of health systems. The midwifery profession has traditionally been an independent profession from the nursing profession and continues to be so in other European countries. In Spain, since 1953, midwifery has been considered a nursing specialty, which was integrated into the Specialized Health Care Training model in 1992. Its legal framework is regulated by the regulations applicable to Specialized Health Training, the European regulations on competencies and training of midwives, their transposition into Spanish legislation and the training program for the specialty of midwifery.  相似文献
