Stress and depressive symptoms are associated with maladaptive health behavior practices such as unhealthy eating, sedentary behavior, insufficient sleep, and substance use. The relative and interactive effects of stress and depressive symptoms on health behavior practices are less well understood. The present study examined these processes in a daily diary study of 127 college students. Results from hierarchical generalized linear models indicated that depressive symptoms, and chronic and daily stress, but not acute stressful life events, were significantly associated with a composite score of daily maladaptive health behavior engagement (depressive symptoms b = .01, SE=?.00, p?<?.01; chronic stress, b?=?.03, SE=?.01, p?<?.01; daily stress, b?=?.01, SE=?.01, p?=?.02); unexpectedly, the effect of stress on health behaviors was not moderated by depressive symptoms. Additionally, results demonstrated that the effect of depressive symptoms on health behaviors was mediated by fluctuations in daily negative affect. These results bear implications for intervention during a crucial period in the development of mental and physical health.  相似文献

Chronic pain is prevalent among older adults and is usually associated with high levels of functional disability. Social support for the promotion of functional autonomy and dependence has been associated with pain-related disability and self-reported physical functioning. Nevertheless, these relationships need further inquiry. Our aims were to investigate: (1) the relationship between perceived promotion of autonomy/dependence and pain-related disability and (2) the extent to which self-reported physical functioning mediated these relationships. 118 older adults (Mage = 81.0) with musculoskeletal chronic pain completed the Portuguese versions of the revised formal social support for Autonomy and Dependence in Pain Inventory, the pain severity and interference scales of the Brief Pain Inventory, and the physical functioning scale of the Medical Outcomes Study-Short-Form 36 v2. Higher levels of perceived promotion of autonomy were associated with lower pain-related disability; this relationship was partially mediated by self-reported physical functioning (B = ?.767, p < .001 decreasing to B′ = ?.485, p < .01). Higher perceived promotion of dependence was associated with higher pain-related disability; this effect was also partially accounted for by self-reported physical functioning (B = .889, p < .01 decreasing to B′ = .597, p < .05). These results highlight the importance of perceived promotion of autonomy and dependence for managing older adults’ experience of chronic pain.  相似文献

Background

International Service Learning Trips (ISLT) provide health professional students the opportunity to provide healthcare, under the direction of trained faculty, to underserved populations in developing countries. Despite recent increases in international service learning trips, there is scant literature addressing concerns students have prior to attending such trips. This study focuses on identifying concerns before and after attending an ISLT and their impact on students.

Methods

A survey comprised of closed and open-ended questions was developed to elucidate student concerns prior to attending an ISLT and experiences which might influence concerns. A five-point Likert-scale (extremely concerned?=?1, minimally concerned?=?5) was used to rate apprehension and satisfaction. Paired t-test was used to compare pre- and post-trip concerns; Chi-Square test was used to compare groups.

Results

Thirty-five students (27 medical, 8 pharmacy) attended ISLTs in December 2013. All completed pre and post-trip surveys. Significant decreases were seen in concerns related to cultural barriers (4.14 vs 4.46, P?=?.047), disease/epidemics (3.34 vs 4.60, P?<?.001), natural disasters (3.94 vs 4.94, P?<?.001), terrorism (4.34 vs 4.94, P?<?.001), travel (3.86 vs 4.51, P?<?.001) monetary issues (3.80 vs 4.60, P?<?.001), hospitality (3.94 vs 4.74, P?=?.001) and food (3.83 vs 4.60, P?<?.001). Language and group dynamics remained concerns post-trip. On open-ended questions, students described benefits of attending an ISLT.

Conclusions

Students had multiple concerns prior to attending an ISLT. Most decreased upon return. Addressing concerns has the potential to decrease student apprehension. The results of this study highlight the benefits of providing ISLTs and supporting development of a curriculum incorporating trip-related concerns.

Purpose

This cross-sectional study examined the relationship between headache-specific locus of control (HSLC) and migraine-related quality of life, and anxiety as a mediator of this relationship.

Method

Two hundred and thirty-two people with migraine participated in the treatment of severe migraine trial. At baseline, participants completed self-report questionnaires of headache-specific locus of control (HSLC; subscales?=?internal, chance, and medical professionals), anxiety, and migraine-related quality of life. Correlations examined relationships between HSLC, anxiety, and migraine-related quality of life; ordinary least squares regression evaluated anxiety as a mediator of the relationship between HSLC and migraine-related quality of life.

Results

Higher internal HSLC was related to higher overall migraine-related quality of life (ps?<?.05) and emotion function impairments (p?=?.012). Anxiety mediated the relationship between internal HSLC and all measures of migraine-specific quality of life (ps?<?.05). Higher external (medical professionals and chance) HSLC was related to higher migraine-related quality of life impairments (all ps?<?.001).

Conclusion

All HSLC beliefs are associated with higher migraine-related quality of life impairments. Anxiety mediates the relationship between internal HSLC and migraine-related quality of life.

Background

Several well-established tumour prognostic factors are used to guide the clinical management of patients with breast cancer. Lymphovascular invasion and angiogenesis have also been reported to have some promise as prognostic factors. The aim of the present study was to examine the prognostic value of tumour lymphovascular invasion and microvessel density compared with that of established prognostic factors in invasive ductal breast cancer.

Methods

In addition to hormone receptor status and Ki-67 proliferative activity, lymphovascular invasion and microvessel density and their relationship with survival were examined in patients with invasive ductal breast cancer. Full sections and tissue microarrays (n?=?384 patients) were utilised to assess these factors and were scored by appropriate methods.

Results

On univariate analysis tumour size (P?<?0.05), lymph node involvement (P?<?0.01), lymphovascular invasion (P?<?0.05), microvessel density (P?<?0.05) and local- regional treatment (P?<?0.01) were associated with poorer survival in ER negative tumours. On multivariate analysis in ER negative tumours lymph node involvement (P?<?0.01) and local- regional treatment (P?<?0.05) were independently associated with poorer cancer-specific survival. On univariate analysis tumour grade (P?<?0.05), lymph node involvement (P?<?0.001), HER-2 (P?<?0.05), Ki-67 (P?<?0.01) and lymphovascular invasion (P?<?0.001) were associated with poorer survival in ER positive tumours. On multivariate analysis lymph node involvement (P?<?0.001), Ki-67 (P?<?0.001) and lymphovascular invasion (P?<?0.05) were independently associated with poorer cancer-specific survival in ER positive tumours.

Conclusion

Lymphovascular invasion but not microvessel density was independently associated with poorer survival in patients with ER positive but not ER negative invasive ductal breast cancer.

Purpose

Exercise has been shown to have various proximal and distal benefits among older adults such as improving physical fitness, cognitive functioning, and health-related quality of life (HR-QOL). Despite this evidence, limited research has investigated pathway change of these outcomes. The primary purpose of this study was to test if older adults who improved in physical fitness measures from engaging in multicomponent exercise training for 12 weeks predicted change in proximal (cognitive functioning) and distal (HR-QOL) outcomes, respectively.

Methods

Participants (n?=?110) were healthy, older adults (M?=?72, SD?=?7.24) that comprised an exercise-intervention and control group. The intervention consisted of exercising in a supervised laboratory setting for 12 weeks.

Results

Structural equation modeling revealed group type to predict change in physical performance and the maximum walking test with comparable effect sizes. Physical performance in turn predicted improvement in processing speed (β?=?0.23, p?=?0.013) executive functioning (β?=?0.26, p?=?0.006), and HR-QOL (β?=?0.13, p?=?0.031). However, only executive functioning was found to significantly predict HR-QOL (β?=?0.49, p?<?0.001) over processing speed (p?>?0.05).

Conclusions

Between two fitness measures, the physical performance test demonstrated better predictive validity in proximal and distal health outcomes. In addition to physical fitness, older adults who engage in multi-component exercise sessions regularly can improve their executive functioning, which in turn enhances their HR-QOL.

Examine cross-sectional relationships between dispositional mindfulness and diabetes self-care behaviors (i.e., medication adherence, diet and exercise behavior, and self-monitoring of blood glucose; SMBG), hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c, %), and body mass index (BMI; continuously and obese vs. not). Adults with type 2 diabetes (N?=?148, Mage?=?55.7?±?10.1) who were recruited to participate in a web-based diabetes medication adherence intervention completed all assessments at enrollment. In unadjusted analyses, mindfulness was associated with better dietary habits and worse HbA1c (p?<?.05). After controlling for a priori covariates (demographics, years since diabetes diagnosis, and insulin status), mindfulness remained associated with better dietary behavior (p?<?.01) but not HbA1c. Mindfulness was not associated with medication adherence, exercise behavior, SMBG, or body mass index. We found evidence that dispositional mindfulness plays an important role in dietary behaviors, supporting the use of mindful eating techniques in diabetes self-management interventions. Fostering mindfulness may be one of several behavioral tools needed to support key self-care behaviors and improve HbA1c.  相似文献

Purpose

There is still insufficient data on mental distress factors contributing to exercise capacity (EC) improvement before and after cardiac rehabilitation (CR) in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). The aim of our study was to evaluate the associations between various mental distress factors and EC before and after exercise-based CR (EBCR).

Methods

Over 12 months, 223 CAD patients (70% men, mean age 58 ± 9 years) were evaluated for socio-demographic, clinical, and mental distress symptoms as measured by the Hospital Anxiety and Depression scale (HADS), Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II), and Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI). Patients were tested for EC at baseline and after EBCR.

Results

In a multivariate linear regression model, EC before EBCR was associated with HADS anxiety subscale (β = ?.186, p = .002) and BDI-II somatic/affective subscale (β = ?.249, p < .001). EC after EBCR was associated with HADS anxiety and depression subscales (β = ?.198, p < .001; β = ?.170, p = .002, respectively) and BDI-II (β = ?.258, p < .001). The BDI-II somatic/affective subscale was the best predictor of reduced EC before and after EBCR.

Conclusions

Mental distress and somatic/affective symptoms of depression are strongly associated with EC both at the beginning and after EBCR. Analysis of possible mediating or moderating factors was beyond the scope of our study. Future studies should focus on comprehensive evaluation of EC risk factors including other mental distress characteristics, subjectively experienced fatigue, and post-operative CAD symptoms.

The purpose of this study was to examine the association of any demographic and clinical factors with mortality outcome among adult patients with Ebola virus disease (EVD) in Guinea. This retrospective observational study analyzed medical records of laboratory confirmed EVD adult patients during the 2014–2015 EVD outbreak in Guinea. The associations between any demographic or clinical variables and mortality outcome of EVD were assessed using univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses. Of 2,310 EVD adult patients included for analysis, the overall case fatality rate was 68.1%. Univariate analyses identified factors possibly associated with mortality outcome, including patient age (p?<?0.001), history of visiting or close contact with a suspected or confirmed EVD patient (p?=?0.035), and seven clinical symptoms on admission, i.e., fever (p?=?0.003), hiccups (p?<?0.001), vomiting (p?=?0.003), diarrhea (p?<?0.001), cough (p?=?0.001), sore throat (p?=?0.016), and unexplained bleeding (p?=?0.021). The multivariate analysis showed that patient age was independently associated with mortality outcome of EVD (OR?=?1.06; 95%CI?=?1.03–1.09; p?<?0.001), while none the of clinical symptoms on admission were significantly associated with the mortality outcome. Our analysis indicates that older age was the only independent factor associated with death among EVD adult patients in Guinea. This suggests that older EVD patients should receive intensive medical care and be carefully monitored.  相似文献

Several studies have shown associations between groups of intestinal bacterial or specific ratios between bacterial groups and various disease traits. Meanwhile, little is known about interactions and associations between eukaryotic and prokaryotic microorganisms in the human gut. In this work, we set out to investigate potential associations between common single-celled parasites such as Blastocystis spp. and Dientamoeba fragilis and intestinal bacteria. Stool DNA from patients with intestinal symptoms were selected based on being Blastocystis spp.-positive (B+)/negative (B?) and D. fragilis-positive (D+)/negative (D?), and split into four groups of 21 samples (B+ D+, B+ D?, B? D+, and B? D?). Quantitative PCR targeting the six bacterial taxa Bacteroides, Prevotella, the butyrate-producing clostridial clusters IV and XIVa, the mucin-degrading Akkermansia muciniphila, and the indigenous group of Bifidobacterium was subsequently performed, and the relative abundance of these bacteria across the four groups was compared. The relative abundance of Bacteroides in B– D– samples was significantly higher compared with B+ D? and B+ D+ samples (P?<?0.05 and P?<?0.01, respectively), and this association was even more significant when comparing all parasite-positive samples with parasite-negative samples (P?<?0.001). Additionally, our data revealed that a low abundance of Prevotella and a higher abundance of Clostridial cluster XIVa was associated with parasite-negative samples (P?<?0.05 and P?<?0.01, respectively). Our data support the theory that Blastocystis alone or combined with D. fragilis is associated with gut microbiota characterized by low relative abundances of Bacteroides and Clostridial cluster XIVa and high levels of Prevotella.  相似文献

To test whether binge eating and emotional eating mediate the relationships between self-reported stress, morning cortisol and the homeostatic model of insulin resistance and waist circumference. We also explored the moderators of gender and age. Data were from 249 adults (mean BMI = 26.9 ± 5.1 kg/m2; mean age = 28.3 ± 8.3 years; 54.2 % male; 69.5 % white) recruited from the community who were enrolled in a cross-sectional study. Participants completed a comprehensive assessment panel of psychological and physiological assessments including a morning blood draw for plasma cortisol. We found negative relationships between stress and morning cortisol (r = ?0.15 to ?0.21; p < 0.05), and cortisol and the homeostatic model of insulin resistance and waist circumference (r = ?0.16, ?0.25, respectively; p < 0.05). There was not statistical support for binge eating or emotional eating as mediators and no support for moderated mediation for either gender or age; however, gender moderated several paths in the model. These include the paths between perceived stress and emotional eating (B = 0.009, p < 0.001), perceived stress and binge eating (B = 0.01, p = 0.003), and binge eating and increased HOMA-IR (B = 0.149, p = 0.018), which were higher among females. Among women, perceived stress may be an important target to decrease binge and emotional eating. It remains to be determined what physiological and psychological mechanisms underlie the relationships between stress and metabolic abnormalities.  相似文献

Recent attention has highlighted the importance of reducing sedentary time for maintaining health and quality of life. However, it is unclear how changing sedentary behavior may influence executive functions and self-regulatory strategy use, which are vital for the long-term maintenance of a health behavior regimen. The purpose of this cross-sectional study is to examine the estimated self-regulatory and executive functioning effects of substituting 30 min of sedentary behavior with 30 min of light activity, moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA), or sleep in a sample of older adults. This study reports baseline data collected from low-active healthy older adults (N = 247, mean age 65.4 ± 4.6 years) recruited to participate in a 6 month randomized controlled exercise trial examining the effects of various modes of exercise on brain health and function. Each participant completed assessments of physical activity self-regulatory strategy use (i.e., self-monitoring, goal-setting, social support, reinforcement, time management, and relapse prevention) and executive functioning. Physical activity and sedentary behaviors were measured using accelerometers during waking hours for seven consecutive days at each time point. Isotemporal substitution analyses were conducted to examine the effect on self-regulation and executive functioning should an individual substitute sedentary time with light activity, MVPA, or sleep. The substitution of sedentary time with both sleep and MVPA influenced both self-regulatory strategy use and executive functioning. Sleep was associated with greater self-monitoring (B = .23, p = .02), goal-setting (B = .32, p < .01), and social support (B = .18, p = .01) behaviors. Substitution of sedentary time with MVPA was associated with higher accuracy on 2-item (B = .03, p = .01) and 3-item (B = .02, p = .04) spatial working memory tasks, and with faster reaction times on single (B = ?23.12, p = .03) and mixed-repeated task-switching blocks (B = ?27.06, p = .04). Substitution of sedentary time with sleep was associated with marginally faster reaction time on mixed-repeated task-switching blocks (B = ?12.20, p = .07) and faster reaction time on mixed-switch blocks (B = 17.21, p = .05), as well as reduced global reaction time switch cost (B = ?16.86, p = .01). Substitution for light intensity physical activity did not produce significant effects. By replacing sedentary time with sleep and MVPA, individuals may bolster several important domains of self-regulatory behavior and executive functioning. This has important implications for the design of long-lasting health behavior interventions. Trial Registration clinicaltrials.gov identifier NCT00438347.  相似文献

The interpretation of bacterial cholangitis after liver transplantation (LT) remains vague, because the presence of bacteria in bile, namely bacteriobilia, does not necessarily indicate an active infection. We investigated the association between post-LT bacterial cholangitis and a variety of short- and long-term outcomes. Two-hundred-seventy-four primary adult-to-adult living donor LT recipients from 2008 to 2016 were divided into three groups according the presence or absence of bacteriobilia and clinical symptoms: (1) no bacteriobilia (N group), (2) asymptomatic bacteriobilia (B group), and (3) cholangitis (C group). The number of patients was by group: N, 161; B, 64; and C, 49. Donor age ≥?45 years (p?=?0.012), choledochojejunostomy (p?<?0.001), and post-LT portal hypertension (p?=?0.023) were independent risk factors for developing cholangitis. Survival analysis revealed that the C group had significantly worse short- and long-term graft survival. The C group was associated with an increased incidence of early graft loss (EGL) (p?<?0.001). While the frequency of readmission for recurrent cholangitis was significantly higher in both the B and C groups (p?<?0.001), late graft loss (LGL) due to chronic cholangitis was only commonly observed in the C group (p?=?0.002). Post-LT cholangitis could result in not only EGL but also chronic cholangitis and associated LGL.  相似文献

Programmed death ligand-1 (PD-L1) plays an important role in the immune evasion of cancer cells and, in turn, can influence the outcome of many malignancies. The serum soluble PD-L1 (sPD-L1) levels were measured in diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) patients at diagnosis and at end of treatment. Their impact on end of treatment metabolic response was analyzed. Serum sPD-L1 level was significantly elevated in DLBCL patients at diagnosis than in controls (P?<?0.001). Also, serum sPD-L1 level at diagnosis was significantly higher than that at end of treatment (P?<?0.001). Patients who achieved partial response (PR) had significantly higher serum sPD-L1 level at end of treatment than controls (P?<?0.001). In contrast, all patients especially those who achieved complete response (CR) had insignificantly different serum sPD-L1 level at end of treatment than controls (P?=?0.354 and P?=?0.090, respectively). There was a significant difference between serum sPD-L1 level at diagnosis and that at end of treatment in patients who achieved PR and CR (P?=?0.023 and P?<?0.001, respectively). On univariate analysis, presence of comorbidities, Ann Arbor stage IV, high serum sPD-L1 level at diagnosis and high serum sPD-L1 level at end of treatment were significantly associated with achievement of PR (P?=?0.018 and P?=?0.043, P?=?0.045 and P?<?0.001, respectively). On multivariate analysis, serum sPD-L1 levels at diagnosis and at end of treatment were still influencing metabolic response significantly (P?=?0.014 and P?=?0.007, respectively). Serum sPD-L1 is a predictor for metabolic response to immunochemotherapy in DLBCL patients.  相似文献

Purpose

Being appropriately aware of the extent of stress experienced in daily life is essential in motivating stress management behaviours. Excessive stress underestimation obstructs this process, which is expected to exert adverse effects on health. We prospectively examined associations between stress underestimation and mental health outcomes in Japanese workers.

Methods

Web-based surveys were conducted twice with an interval of 1 year on 2359 Japanese male workers. Participants were asked to complete survey items concerning stress underestimation, depressive symptoms, sickness absence, and antidepressant use.

Results

Multiple logistic regression analysis revealed that high baseline levels of ‘overgeneralization of stress’ and ‘insensitivity to stress’ were significantly associated with new-onset depressive symptoms (OR?=?2.66 [95 % CI, 1.54–4.59], p?<?.01) and antidepressant use (OR?=?4.91 [95 % CI, 1.22–19.74], p?<?.05), respectively, during the 1-year follow-up period.

Conclusions

This study clearly demonstrated that stress underestimation, including stress insensitivity and the overgeneralization of stress, could exert adverse effects on mental health.

Our aim in selecting an appropriate cell fraction and conditioned media (CM) was to achieve the suitable candidate for ameliorating long-term chronic asthmatic changes of respiratory tract. Thirty-six rats were classified into healthy and sensitized groups, which were further divided into three subgroups; rats received systemically 50 μl volume of PBS, CM, or 2?×?106 rat bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (rBMMSCs). Tracheal responsiveness (TR), immunologic responses, and recruitment of rBMMSCs into the lungs were evaluated. A high degree of TR and total WBC and percentages of eosinophils and neutrophils was significantly recorded in all sensitized groups rather than of controls (p?<?0.001 to p?<?0.05). Concurrently, a significant improvement of TR and eosinophil and neutrophil return toward normal levels was evident in sensitized rats receiving cells as compared to parallel asthmatic animals. Flow cytometric monitoring of lymphocyte subpopulation revealed a decrease in the number of CD3+CD4+ and concurrent increase in CD3+CD8+ in all sensitized rats as compared to control (p?<?0.001 to p?<?0.05). Noticeably, no significant modulatory effects of either cell or CM administration were achieved on the CD3+CD4+ and CD3+CD8+ populations in non-asthmatic rats. Corroborating our results, the number of CD3+CD4+ tended to increase (p?<?0.05) which coincided with a decreased manner of CD3+CD8+ populations as compared to other asthmatic groups (p?<?0.01 to p?<?0.05). Moreover, stem cells could efficiently transmigrate to the lung parenchyma, albeit the dynamic of asthmatic changes stimulated the rate of recruited cells. Our study shed light on superior effects of mesenchymal stem cells, but not CM, in attenuating chronic asthmatic changes in the model of rat.  相似文献

CDKN1A is a tumor suppressor gene involved in gastric carcinogenesis and is a potential target for histone deacetylase inhibitor-based therapies. Upregulation of CDKN1A is generally observed in several cell lines after histone deacetylase inhibitor treatment; however, little is known about the histone acetylation status associated with this gene in clinical samples, including gastric tumor tissue samples. Therefore, our goal was to quantify the H3K9 and H4K16 acetylation levels associated with three CDKN1A regions in 21 matched pairs of gastric adenocarcinoma and corresponding adjacent non-tumor samples by chromatin immunoprecipitation and to correlate these data with the gene expression. Our results demonstrated that the ?402, ?20, and +182 CDKN1A regions showed a significantly increased acetylation level in at least one of the histones evaluated (p < 0.05, for all comparisons), and these levels were positively correlated in gastric tumors. However, an inverse correlation was detected between both H3K9 and H4K16 acetylation at the ?402 CDKN1A region and mRNA levels in gastric tumors (r = ?0.51, p = 0.02; r = ?0.60, p < 0.01, respectively). Furthermore, increased H4K16 acetylation at the ?20 CDKN1A region was associated with gastric tumors of patients without lymph node metastasis (p = 0.04). These results highlight the complexity of these processes in gastric adenocarcinoma and contribute to a better understanding of CDKN1A regulation in carcinogenesis.  相似文献

Gasterophilus larvae are common obligate parasites of the digestive tract of the equids. Horses become infected with this parasite by ingesting the larvae hatched from eggs laid by the female flies. In this study carried out monthly, we (i) counted the Gasterophilus eggs deposited by female flies on the coat of 30 grazing horses, (ii) counted and identified the Gasterophilus larvae retrieved from the digestive tract of 128 slaughtered horses, and (iii) compared these results to meteorological data. Eggs were deposited on all monitored horses, and were present from October to January and from May to September, whereas they were absent from February to April. The number of laid eggs was significantly different between the months, body regions, genders, and age classes (p?<?0.05). Larvae were recovered in 112 (87.5 %) horses, and 6 species of Gasterophilus were identified. The prevailing species were Gasterophilus intestinalis (recovered in 110 horses; 85.9 %) and Gasterophilus nasalis (69 horses; 53.9 %), recovered in all months. Gasterophilus inermis (5 horses; 3.9 %), Gasterophilus pecorum (3 horses; 2.3 %), Gasterophilus haemorrhoidalis (3 horses; 2.3 %)¸ and Gasterophilus meridionalis (2 horses; 1.6 %) larvae were also found. Significant differences were found among monthly larval burdens for both Gasterophilus spp. and G. intestinalis (p?<?0.05), but not for G. nasalis (p?>?0.05). Larval burdens and prevalences did not differed significantly between both genders and age classes (p?>?0.05). Monthly eggs and larvae trends were not significantly correlated (p?>?0.05). With regard to the meteorological variables, minimum air temperature was significantly correlated with the eggs trend (rho?=?1.000; p?<?0.001) and maximum air temperature with the Gasterophilus spp. (rho?=?0.972; p?<?0.001) and G. intestinalis (rho?=?0.972; p?<?0.001) larvae trends. In addition, the number of hours with a temperature below +10 °C was significantly correlated with G. intestinalis larvae trend (rho?=?0.602; p?<?0.05). Our findings confirmed that in Sardinia, Gasterophilosis is an important parasitosis in the horses, and it needs more attention and extensive and/or correct treatment to reduce its prevalence.  相似文献
