This in vitro study evaluated the effect of dentin bonding agents in reducing microleakage after three months in Class V restorations restored with Z100 resin composite. Materials tested were three types of resin-based dentin bonding agents: a multi-step (Scotchbond Multi-Purpose); a one-step (Scotchbond One-Step); a self-etching, self-priming (Clearfil Liner Bond) and a resin-modified glass ionomer (GC Fuji Bond LC). Class V cavity preparations with occlusal margins in enamel and gingival margins in cementum were prepared both on labial and lingual surfaces of extracted premolar teeth. Restorations (two per tooth) were distributed randomly into nine test groups (n = 10) consisting of the various DBAs applied with co-cure and pre-cure techniques, and no dentin bonding as a negative control group. Samples were stored in saline for three months, thermocycled, stained with silver nitrate, then sectioned through the middle of the preparation to facilitate the removal of the composite resin restoration. For groups treated with the pre-cure technique, the differences between the enamel leakage values of SBMP-control, CFLB-control and SB1S-control subgroups were significant (p < 0.05). For enamel leakage values of groups treated with the co-cure technique, the differences between the SBMP-control, SB1S-control, CFLB-control and Fuji LC-control subgroups were significant (p < 0.05). For cementum leakage values of groups treated with pre-cure technique, the difference between the CFLB-control and the Fuji, SBMP and SB1S groups was significant (p < 0.05). No significant differences could be detected between the cementum leakage values of groups treated with the co-cure technique (p > 0.05). The differences between the values obtained with application of CFLB with the pre-cure and co-cure techniques at the cementum margins were found to be statistically significant (p = 0.02). No statistically significant differences could be detected between the pre-cure and co-cure values of the other test materials. Generally for every group, cementum microleakage values were greater than enamel microleakage values (p < 0.05). The use of Scotchbond Multi-Purpose, Scotchbond One-Step and Fuji Bond LC with the co-cure technique to decrease the application time did not cause any significant increase in microleakage. Only pre-curing using Clearfil Liner Bond provided better microleakage properties than the other pre-cured adhesives.  相似文献

PURPOSE: This in vitro study compared the ability of several recently introduced 1-bottle adhesives to their preceding multiple-step dentin bonding agents in reducing microleakage around Class V composite restorations. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Facial and lingual Class V cavities were prepared in 48 molar teeth, which were randomly divided into 6 equal groups. Three groups used the fourth-generation multiple-step systems, and 3 used the fifth-generation single-bottle adhesives. All cavities were restored by composite and subjected to thermocycling and intermittent occlusal loading. After immersion in 0.5% basic fuchsin, the teeth were cut faciolingually in 5 consecutive sections and evaluated for dye penetration using a binocular stereomicroscope. RESULTS: There was no statistically significant difference in the degree of microleakage comparing the adhesive's generation and manufacturer and the location of the cavity margins. A significant interaction was found between margin location and manufacturer, which implied that the sealing capacity at the enamel and cementum margins was material-specific. CONCLUSION: Scotchbond Multi-Purpose and Single Bond adhesives provided the best seal for enamel margins, and One-Step and Optibond FL adhesives were best for cementum margins.  相似文献

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of salivary contamination on the microleakage within Class V preparations of teeth restored with either Compoglass-F/Syntac SC and Dyract-AP/Prime and Bond 2.1. METHODS: Class V cavity preparations with occlusal margins in enamel and gingival margins in cementum were prepared on the buccal and lingual surfaces of extracted human permanent molar teeth. Preparations were distributed randomly into 4 treatment groups (N = 16) consisting of the two compomers and their respective bonding agents with and without salivary contamination. After treatment, the samples were stored in tap water for 24 hours, thermocycled, stained with dye, sectioned, and scored for microleakage. RESULTS: Salivary contamination had no significant effect on enamel microleakage but significantly increased both linear and penetrating microleakage versus non-contaminated for both compomer/dentin bonding systems. CONCLUSION: These data indicate salivary contamination adversely effects gingival but not enamel microleakage when Class V restorations are restored with either Compoglass F/Syntac SC or Dyract-AP/Prime and Bond 2.1.  相似文献

The purpose of this in vitro study was to compare dentine and enamel micro-leakage values of six self-etching bonding agents to that of a total etch dentine bonding agent (used as a control). Products evaluated were Scotchbond Multipurpose Plus (3M/ESPE), Xeno III (Dentsply), Clearfil SE Bond (Kuraray), ABF (Kuraray), Optibond Solo Self-Etch (Kerr), OneCoatSE Bond (Colténe Whaledent), and iBond (Heraeus-Kulzer). Using a medium sized Cerana bur (Nordiska Dental) a standard, cylindrical preparation was made at the cemento-enamel junction (CEJ) of human third molars. The teeth were randomly divided into 7 groups of ten teeth each. The bonding agents were applied and light cured strictly according to the manufacturer's instructions and the cavities then filled in two increments, using Z100 composite (3M/ESPE). The restored teeth were imbedded in acrylic resin and thermocycled between 5 degrees - 60 degrees C (+/- 2 degrees C) for 250 cycles with a dwell time of 20 seconds. All seven groups were then placed in a 5% basic Fuchsin solution for 12 hours at 37 degrees C. The embedded teeth were removed from the basic Fuchsin, rinsed well, imbedded in acrylic and cut longitudinally through the centre of each restoration using an Accutom-2 cutting machine. Each tooth was then evaluated at the occlusal enamel margin and at the cervical dentine margin for micro-leakage using a light microscope at 50x magnification. The data obtained was analysed using the Kruskal-Wallis test, with Fisher's least significant difference method used for comparison of specific groups (p<0.05). When compared to the control (Scotchbond Multipurpose Plus), results for microleakage at the occlusal enamel margins as well as the cervical dentine margins indicated that only SE Bond and ABF (Protect Bond) showed values as low as the control. It can be concluded that, as far as micro-leakage is concerned, Clearfil SE Bond and ABF (Protect Bond) self-etching bonding agents could be clinically acceptable alternatives to the clinically proven Scotch-bond Multipurpose. The aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate the effects of different types of adhesive systems on the microleakage of compomer restorations in Class V cavities prepared by erbium, chromium: yttrium scandium gallium garnet (Er,Cr:YSGG) laser. There were five test groups according to the type of adhesive applied to the cavities: Adper Single Bond 2 (Group 1), Scotchbond Multi-Purpose Plus (Group 2), Xeno III (Group 3), Clearfil Protect Bond (Group 4), Prime&Bond NT (Group 5). Dye penetration was evaluated under a stereomicroscope, and data were statistically analyzed by Kruskal-Wallis and Wilcoxon Signed Ranks tests. Gingival margins showed significantly higher microleakage than occlusal margins in all the test groups (p<0.05). Groups 1 and 2 showed significantly less microleakage than Group 5 (p<0.05), and there were no statistically significant differences among Groups 3, 4, and 5 (p>0.05). None of the dentin bonding agents eliminated microleakage completely, and higher microleakage scores were observed along the gingival margin than the occlusal margin.  相似文献

Saliva contamination is a major clinical problem during restorative dental treatment. Restorative systems must possess sufficient marginal sealing ability to avoid microleakage. PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of saliva contamination on the microleakage of cavities restored with Prime & Bond NT and Dyract-AP. METHOD: Cavities were prepared with occlusal margins in enamel and gingival margins in dentine on the buccal surfaces of extracted human permanent premolar teeth. The cavities were etched with phosphoric acid or a non rinse conditioner (NRC). Preparations were distributed randomly into 4 treatment groups (N = 18) consisting of two respective etching methods (phosphoric acid/NRC), each with and without saliva contamination. After the restorative process the samples were thermocycled in dye, sectioned, and scored for microleakage. RESULTS: Contamination with saliva had no significant effect on microleakage on the enamel or dentine sides where phosphoric acid was used as conditioner. Where NRC was used, significantly more microleakage was observed at the enamel sides, but significantly less at the dentine sides.  相似文献

This-study was undertaken to evaluate and compare microleakage in class V cavities in human teeth which were lined with Amalgambond Plus with HPA (Parkell, USA), Optibond Solo (Kerr, U.S.A.), Fuji Plus (GC Corporation, Japan) and Prime & Bond 2.1 (Dentsply, Switzerland), and then restored with Logic amalgam (SDI Australia). The restored teeth were thermocycled in basic fuchsin dye, sectioned, and evaluated for dye penetration. The interdiffusion zones were viewed in a confocal laser scanning microscope (CLSM). The results showed that no bonding system could totally eliminate microleakage. Statistical analysis revealed significant differences between Amalgambond Plus with HPA and Prime & Bond 2.1, Fuji Plus as well as Optibond Solo, for both the enamel and dentine sides. No significant differences were found between Prime & Bond 2.1, Fuji Plus and Optibond Solo, for both the enamel and dentine sides. Amalgambond Plus showed significantly more leakage at dentine sides while Prime & Bond 2.1 showed significantly more leakage at enamel sides. The CLSM revealed hybrid layers of different thicknesses, resin penetration into tubules, as well as resin incorporation within the spherical particles of the amalgam. Optibond Solo, Fuji Plus and Prime & Bond 2.1 can serve to improve the marginal seal of amalgam restorations.  相似文献

This report evaluates the impact of two dentin bonding techniques on microleakage of Class V restorations bonded with three new dentin bonding systems. Forty-eight extracted human premolar and molar teeth were randomly assigned to four groups for bonding with EBS Bonding System (ESPE, Seefeld, Germany); Syntac Single-Component (Ivoclar-Vivadent, Schaan, Liechtenstein); Scotchbond 1 (3M Dental Products, St. Paul, Minnesota); and a control, Prime and Bond 2.1 (Dentsply, DeTrey, Konstanz, Germany). Cavities were cut in both the buccal and lingual surfaces. The coronal half of each preparation was in enamel, and the gingival half was in cementum or dentin. The cavities were restored with composite after the application of dentin bonding agents, using two different drying techniques for each material. The teeth were stored in distilled water for 6 days at 37 degrees C and then thermocycled. The restorations were examined microscopically for leakage, using Procion brilliant red as a marker. All groups showed microleakage at both the enamel and dentin margins. At the gingival margin, there was no significant difference between any of the experimental materials and the control for either wet bonding (Kruskal-Wallis: p = .8920) or dry bonding (Kruskal-Wallis: p .9973); or between the two techniques for each material (Mann-Whitney U in all cases p > .05). Scanning electron microscopic examination confirmed that the zones of microleakage, as indicated by dye penetration, were principally resincohesive failures within the collagen-rich hybrid layer. Three water-based bonding agents were unable to prevent microleakage at either the enamel or dentin margins of Class V cavities regardless of which bonding technique was employed. The aim of this study was to compare the shear bond strength (SBS) of nine dentine bonding systems (DBS) of different classes to human primary and permanent dentine. Flat dentine occlusal surfaces were produced on human molars (100 primary, 100 permanent) by wet grinding on a 800-grit SiC paper. Nine DBS were applied following the manufacturers' instructions: One total etch multi-step system: Scotchbond Multipurpose Plus (3M/ESPE); Four total etch one-bottle system: Prime &Bond 2.1 (Dentsply), One Step (Bisco), Scotchbond 1 (3M/ESPE), and OptibondSolo Plus (Kerr); Three two-step self-etching primer systems: Clearfil Liner Bond 2 (Kuraray), Clearfil SE Bond (Kuraray), and Prime &Bond NT with NRC (Dentsply); An 'all-in-one' self-etching system: Prompt L-Pop (3M/ESPE). Composite (Z100; 3M/ESPE) cylinders (2 mm diameter, 3 mm high) were polymerized on the treated dentine surfaces and the specimens were stored at 37 degrees C for 24 h prior to testing. Twenty experimental groups were produced and tested. Statistical analysis revealed both a substrate and a bonding system effect. Two adhesive systems (One Step, Prime &Bond NT) had significantly higher bond strengths on permanent than on primary dentine. There was an effect of dentine bonding system on the mode of fracture. Although eight of the 10 DBS tested exhibited higher median SBS values on permanent dentine than on primary dentine, the dependent pairwise comparison identified a significant difference only for two groups. The use of simplified bonding systems does not necessarily result in improved bond strength to primary or to permanent dentine.  相似文献

PURPOSE: To compare marginal leakage and gap formation in large resin composite Class II cavities with their gingival margins in cementum, using three different additional retentions in the proximal box. METHODS: Standardized large Class II MOD cavities with gingival margins in cementum were prepared in 40 recently extracted molars and divided into four groups according to their retention in the proximal box: (G1) no retention; (G2) vertical grooves in the buccal and lingual walls; (G3) "pot holes" in the gingival wall and (G4) horizontal grooves in the gingival wall. All groups were restored with the incremental technique using the same resin composite (QuiXfil, Dentsply) and a bonding agent (Prime Bond NT, Dentsply). After polishing, all of the restored teeth were immersed in dye solution and submitted to simultaneous cyclic loading. Impressions of the gingival margins were made before and after loading, and epoxy resin replicas were evaluated for gap formation using a scanning electron microscope. The microleakage and gap extension data were evaluated by ANOVA and Tukey's test (p < 0.05). Gap extension before and after mechanical loading was compared by Student's t-test. A correlation analysis was made between the gap extension and microleakage (Pearson's correlation test). RESULTS: All groups with additional retention (G2 = 0.565, G3 = 0.346 and G4 = 0.078) showed fewer gap formations than the control group (G1 = 2.076). Similar results were found for microleakage tests. All groups presented an increase in gap extension after loading, with the exception of the group with gingival retention grooves (G4). G4 showed the best results in relation to both parameters. There was a low correlation between gap extension and microleakage.  相似文献

The use of resin composites in the restoration of Class II cavities with gingival margins located in dentin is still controversial. The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the effect of four state-of-the-art multi-step dentin-bonding systems (A. R. T. Bond, Syntac, OptiBond DC, Scotchbond Multipurpose) on marginal adaptation and microleakage of dentin-bonded composite Class II restorations. A total of 72 Class II cavities with gingival margins in dentin were prepared in extracted molars and filled with fine-hybrid composites using a three-sited light curing technique. In one half of the cavities the pulpal wall was lined with a resin-modified glass ionomer cement liner (RM-GIC), in the other half a total bonding technique was applied. A. R. T. Bond and Syntac were tested with selective enamel etching (SE) and total etching (TE). Marginal adaptation was evaluated in a scanning electron microscope before and after thermocycling (TC). Microleakage was determined by dye penetration. After TC the proportions of continuous margin in dentin ranged from 37% (Syntac/SE) to 91.2% (A. R. T. Bond/TE). Scotchbond Multipurpose exhibited the lowest degree of microleakage (0.22 mm). Marginal enamel fracture was the most prevalent marginal defect at the enamel margins (8.3–22.2%). The use of the RM-GIC had no beneficial effect on any of the marginal parameters, either in dentin or in enamel. It is concluded that low degrees of marginal gap formation and microleakage can be achieved in totally bonded composite Class II restorations when using state-of-the-art multi-step bonding systems in combination with a meticulous incremental filling technique. This in vitro study evaluated gingival wall microleakage in packable and microhybrid conventional composite restorations with and without a flowable composite liner. Each group was evaluated with gingival margins situated in both enamel and cementum/dentin. Two hundred and forty Class II cavities were prepared in extracted third molars, half with gingival margins in enamel and half with margins in dentin/cementum. In groups of 30, restoration was undertaken with packable alone (3M Filtek P60), conventional alone (3M Z250), packable plus flowable liner (3M Filtek Flow) and conventional plus flowable liner. All used 37% phosphoric acid etch and Scotchbond 1 (3M) as the bonding system. After restoration, the teeth were thermocycled (between 5 degrees C, 37 degrees C and 60 degrees C) 1,500 times, soaked in 0.1% methylene blue, sectioned and microleakage from the gingival margin scored. Statistical analysis was performed using Kruskal Wallis and Mann-Whitney U tests. There was no significant difference between systems in terms of leakage scores when gingival margins were situated in enamel (p=0.70). All restorations with margins in cementum/dentin leaked significantly more than those with margins in enamel (p<0.001). There was no significant difference between leakage scores of 3M Z250 and Filtek P60 with cementum/dentin gingival margins (p=0.68). Use of a flowable composite liner (3M Filtek Flow) against cementum/dentin was associated with increased microleakage (p<0.001). In this study, leakage scores suggest that gingival margins should be placed in enamel. The conventional and packable resin composites tested were not associated with differences in microleakage. Leakage data do not support the use of flowable resin composite linings in Class II resin composite restorations.  相似文献

This study evaluated the marginal sealing ability of direct and indirect (inlay) resin composite restorations with three dentin bonding systems. Forty-eight freshly extracted bovine incisor teeth were randomly assigned to four groups for bonding with Syntac Single-Component, Excite (Vivadent, Liechtenstein), ScotchBond Multi-Purpose Plus (3M Dental Products, St Paul, MN 55144, USA) and a control with no bonding agents. Class V cavities were cut in both buccal and lingual surfaces. The coronal half of each preparation was in enamel and the gingival half was in cementum or dentin. Half of the specimens in each group were restored with direct and the remainder with indirect technique. The teeth were stored in 37 degrees C water for 30 days, then thermocycled. After immersion in 0.5% basic fuchsin, the teeth were cut faciolingually and evaluated for dye penetration using a binocular stereomicroscope. There was no significant difference among the bonding systems for either the direct or indirect technique or between the two techniques used for each system, however, the indirect technique showed significantly (p = 0.001) less microleakage than the direct technique in control groups. All groups showed more leakage at the cementum margins except Excite with direct technique, where microleakage at the incisal and gingival margins was almost equal.  相似文献

This study compared the microleakages in enamel and dentine of newly developed bonding systems from different manufacturers. Fifteen or more extracted non-carious human premolars were used for each dental material system. The bonding systems were used with their respective composites. Cylindrical cavities were prepared in enamel (scored as a separate entity 0-3) and cementum/dentine (scored 0-4) on the buccal surface at the cemento-enamel junction and restored. The specimens were thermocycled, cut into slices and the depth of dye penetration scored. For enamel, the microleakage values of Clearfil Protect Bond (CPB; median = 1.0) and Xeno III (2.3) did not differ statistically (p > 0.05, Chi-square test), while the microleakage of CPB (1.0) was significantly better than that of GC Unifil Bond (GC; 3.0), Prime & Bond XP (P & B; 3.0) and Adper Prompt L-Pop (APL; 3.0), p < 0.05. At the cementum/dentine side significantly (p < 0.05) more microleakage for CPB (2.0) was found than for GC (0.0), P&B (0.5), APL (0.5), and Xeno III (0.5). Conclusion: Enamel was most effectively sealed by CPB and cementum/dentine by GC, P&B, APL and Xeno III. The chemical composition perse did not seem to determine the amount and location of microleakage.  相似文献

This study evaluated the microleakage of Class V cavities restored with three different types of flowable resin restorative material and compared the effects of using their respective manufacturer's dentin adhesive or a different brand. Class V cavities with the occlusal margin in enamel and the gingival margin in dentin were prepared on the buccal and lingual surfaces of 48 non-carious human molars. The teeth were randomly assigned to three equal groups of 16. The first eight teeth in each group were restored with one of the flowable restorative materials (Filtek Flow, Dyract Flow, Admira Flow) using the manufacturer's recommended dentin adhesive (Single Bond, Prime & Bond NT, Admira Bond), and the remaining eight molars were restored using a different brand of dentin adhesive (Gluma Comfort Bond). The samples were thermocycled 200 times (5 degrees C-55 degrees C) with a one-minute dwell time. They were then immersed in a 2% basic fuchsin solution for 24 hours, sectioned and analyzed by stereomicroscopy. There was no statistically significant difference at the occlusal margins for either restoration used with its respective dentin adhesive. At the gingival margins, there was a significant difference among all groups. Flowable ormocer (Admira Flow/Admira Bond) displayed the least leakage at the gingival margins. When these flowable restoratives were used with a different brand of dentin adhesive, statistically significant differences were observed both on enamel and dentin. None of the restoratives tested fully prevented leakage at the gingival margins. No significant differences in microleakage were observed among the restorative materials used with respect to the manufacturer's dentin adhesive or a different brand except for Admira Flow restorative at the gingival margins. The gingival margins had significantly more microleakage than the occlusal margins (p < 0.05) except in the Admira Flow group, where microleakage at the occlusal and gingival margins was almost equal.  相似文献

PURPOSE: To examine the sealing ability of compomers, used in combination with dentin bonding agents, compared to other classes of tooth-colored materials. METHODS: Thirty wedge-shaped cervical cavities were cut in extracted teeth, with the gingival cavosurface margin involving dentin. Five cavities each were restored with one of the following: the compomers Dyract AP/Prime & Bond NT, F2000 Compomer/Adhesive or Hytac Aplitip/Prompt L-Pop; a conventional glass-ionomer, Ketac Fil Aplicap; a resin-modified glass-ionomer, Fuji II LC Improved; or a resin-based composite, Z100 MP/Scotchbond 1. All teeth were restored, stored moist for 24 hours, then varnished (except the restorations) before thermocycling in rhodamine B dye solution for 1000 cycles (between baths of 6 degrees C and 60 degrees C). The teeth were sectioned longitudinally through the restorations before examination with a confocal microscope. A scale of 0 to 3 was used to score the dye leakage along the enamel margin as well as the gingival margin. RESULTS: The results showed that at the enamel margin, all materials gave a median score of 0 except Z100 MP (median score 3). Leakage was noted at the gingival margin of all materials (median score of 3 except Dyract AP with a median score of 2).  相似文献

AIM: To compare the shear bond strength and microleakage of four adhesive systems to the enamel and dentine of primary bovine teeth. METHODS: 120 bovine primary mandibular incisors were collected and stored in an aqueous 1% chloramine solution at room temperature for no longer than 3 months after extraction (80 for shear bond testing and 40 for microleakage evaluation). The adhesives tested were Clearfil SE bond (SE), Adper Prompt L Pop (LP), Xeno III (XE), and Prime and Bond NT (PB). For shear bond strength testing the specimens were wet ground to 600 grit SiC paper to expose a flat enamel or dentine surface. After bonding and restoration with Dyract AP (DAP), the teeth were subjected to shear stress using a universal testing machine. For microleakage evaluation, facial class V cavities were prepared half in enamel and half in cementum. All cavities were restored with DAP. After thermocycling and immersion in 2% methylene blue, the dye penetration was evaluated under a stereomicroscope. STATISTICS: All data were analysed by Chi-square tests or Fisher's tests when adapted in order to determine the significant differences between groups. Results were considered as significant for p < 0.05. Results were analysed with an ANOVA test and a Bonferroni's multiple comparison. The level of significance was p < 0.05. RESULTS: Shear bond strength values (MPa,) ranged from: on enamel 11.06 to 5.34, in decreasing order SE, LP, XE and PB and on dentine 10.47 to 4.74, in decreasing order SE, XE, LP and PB. Differences in bond strengths between the four systems on enamel and dentine were all statistically significant, excepted for XE vs LP (shear bond at dentine). No significant differences were recorded in the microleakage degree between the four adhesive systems on enamel and on dentine (p > 0.0.5). CONCLUSIONS: The highest shear bond strength was achieved by Clearfil SE bond and the lowest by Prime and Bond NT. There was no significant difference concerning the sealing ability of the four adhesive systems.  相似文献

Although several in vitro studies have attempted to investigate the microleakage of Class V resin composites under loading, the effect of load cycling on marginal seal is still unclear. This may be due to the fact that axial loads were applied to the specimens. This study investigated the effect of flexural loads on marginal sealing of cervical resin composites. One hundred and fifty cervical wedge-shaped cavities were restored with Clearfil Photo Bond, Clearfil Liner Bond 2, Scotchbond Multi-Purpose with 10% maleic acid, Scotchbond Multi-Purpose with 35% phosphoric acid or Mac-Bond 2 according to the manufacturers' instructions. After the restorations were finished, 10 specimens from each group were immersed in 0.5% basic fuchsin solution to examine microleakage. Prior to dye solution immersion, 20 specimens were subjected to flexural load cycling (1 mm labio-lingual or linguo-labial displacement at the incisal edge, 10,000 cycles, 1 cycle/second). The data were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis test and the Mann-Whitney U-test (p<0.05). When the flexural loads were not applied, both the incisal and apical margins showed good marginal sealing, regardless of the adhesive system used. Labio-lingual loading significantly deteriorated the marginal integrity at the incisal enamel margins, except for those restored with Clearfil Photo Bond. However, only Clearfil Photo Bond demonstrated a significant increase in microleakage along the apical dentin margins. Linguo-labial loading had no significant effect on the marginal seal.  相似文献
