目的优化选择针对未萌尖牙、前磨牙宽度预测的基牙组合。方法取正畸科初诊患者的研究模型,按一定标准随机选出恒牙列模型180副,利用电子游标卡尺(精度0.01 mm)测量牙冠近远中径,并对测量值进行相关与回归分析。结果得到了与未萌尖牙、前磨牙宽度相关度较高的基牙组合,即,上颌第一磨牙和上、下颌中切牙联合;此组合与上、下颌预测牙的相关度分别为0.753和0.834,具有统计学意义(P≤0.001)。以此为基础进行回归分析,建立了预测上、下颌尖牙、前磨牙宽度之和的回归方程。结论建立了一组适合中国北方地区替牙期儿童未萌尖牙、前磨牙宽度的预测方程:男性Y=0.64X+6.89(上颌),Y=0.79X+2.45(下颌);女性Y=0.64X+6.86(上颌),Y=0.72X+3.90(下颌)(Y代表一侧未萌尖牙、前磨牙近远中宽度和,X代表双侧上颌第一磨牙及上、下颌中切牙的近远中宽度和的一半)。  相似文献

Estimating the size of unerupted teeth is an essential aspect of orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning in the mixed dentition. Three main methods have been used to estimate the mesiodistal crown widths of unerupted canines and premolars: direct measurements on radiographs; calculations from prediction equations and tables; and a combination of radiographic measurements and prediction tables. Because there are clear racial differences in tooth sizes, the objectives of this study were to produce odontometric data, correlation coefficients between the combined mesiodistal widths of the permanent mandibular incisors and the canine and premolars for each quadrant, and prediction tables with the regression equations, specifically for Senegalese children. Fifty black Senegalese students (25 women, 25 men, mean age 23.50 years) were selected from the University Cheikh Anta Diop in Dakar, Senegal. The mesiodistal crown diameters of the permanent teeth were measured with calipers. Significant sexual dimorphism was found in tooth sizes. The correlation coefficients between the total mesiodistal width of the mandibular permanent incisors and that of the maxillary and mandibular canines and premolars were found to be 0.53 and 0.70, respectively. The standard error of the estimate was better (0.66) for women in the maxilla, and the r(2) values ranged from 0.46 to 0.57 for both sexes. Prediction tables were prepared. The accuracy of the prediction tables should be tested in a larger sample including more ethnic groups.  相似文献

Multiple stepwise regression was used in the selection of mixed dentition variables capable of predicting the total breadth of the unerupted permanent canine and premolars. The material consisted of 77 children. Stone casts were made before and after eruption of the canine and premolars. At the first examination when the children were, on the average, 10 years old, intraoral roentgenograms were obtained of the canine and the premolars. To predict the total breadth of the upper canine and premolars the buccolingual breadth of the upper first permanent molar and measurements on roentgenograms of the breadths of the upper canine and premolars proved most useful. In the prediction of the total breadth of the lower canine and premolars the best results were obtained with measurement of the breadths of the teeth in the roentgenograms. The breadth of the incisors proved less useful as a predictor of the breadths of unerupted canines and premolars.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to compare, combined and individually, the mesiodistal (MD) and buccolingual (BL) tooth sizes as well as their respective crown proportions in the permanent dentition in dental arches with moderate, mild, and no crowding. Dental casts from two-hundred 12 to 16-year-old school children from a typical high school from Lima, Peru, were used. The MD and BL tooth sizes of all permanent teeth except second and third molars were measured, and their crown proportion (MD/BL ratio) was estimated. Each dental arch was classified as presenting moderate (-5.1 mm or more of discrepancy), mild (-0.1 and -5 mm of discrepancy), and no crowding (zero or a positive discrepancy). Combined and tooth-specific comparisons among the crowding groups for the tooth sizes as well as crown proportions were performed with a multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA, using Wilks lambda). Combined MD tooth sizes and crown proportions differed among crowding groups. Subsequent individual comparisons indicated differences for MD tooth size of all upper teeth and for lower premolars and central incisors. Differences were also detected for crown proportions of the upper second premolar, canine, and both incisors; as well as for the lower first premolar, canine, and central incisor. No differences were found for the BL tooth sizes among crowding groups. MD tooth sizes and crown proportions from specific teeth are significantly different between dental arches with moderate, mild, and noncrowded arches. This study helps to understand the odontometric component of the dental crowding multifactorial origin.  相似文献

AIMS: To test the reliability of the Moyers charts and the Tanaka and Johnston equations in Jordanians and to derive coefficients of correlation between the combined mesiodistal widths of the four permanent mandibular incisors and the combined widths of the canine and premolars of the maxillary and mandibular quadrants. METHODS: The dental models of the dentition of 130 male and 96 female Jordanian subjects (age range is 14-16 years) with complete permanent dentition were randomly selected. The mesiodistal width of the four permanent mandibular incisors, maxillary and mandibular canines, and premolar teeth were measured using a vernier gauge caliper to the nearest 0.1 mm. The actual teeth measurements were then compared with the predicted values derived from the Tanaka and Johnston equations and Moyers probability tables. Correlation and linear regression analyses were performed between the predicted and actual tooth size for Jordanian children and standard regression equations were developed. RESULTS: Except for the maxillary arch in male subjects, Tanaka and Johnston regression equations underestimated the mesiodistal widths of permanent canines and premolars. On the other hand, there were no statistically significant differences between actual mesiodistal widths of canines and premolars and the predicted widths from Moyers charts at the 65% and 75% level for the lower and upper arches in male subjects and at the 85% level for the upper and lower arches in female subjects. For the newly developed regression equations, the correlation coefficients between the sum of the mandibular four incisors and the sum of the canine and premolars were 0.60 (for lower) and 0.51 (for upper) in male subjects and 0.59 and 0.64, respectively, in female subjects. CONCLUSIONS: (1) Tanaka and Johnston prediction method was not accurate when applied to a Jordanian population. (2) Moyers method for prediction can be used for Jordanian children at different probability levels for male and female subjects.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To compare the prediction of unerupted permanent canine and premolar size of a comparable sample size of southern Chinese population with that of the study of Tanaka and Johnston. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Teeth on study casts of an unselected sample from a 12-year-old Hong Kong Oral Health Survey of 12-year-old children (n = 459; 295 males and 164 females) were measured in the mesiodistal dimension. A Chinese mixed dentition analysis based on the Tanaka and Johnston method was constructed with linear regression equations for prediction of the mesiodistal widths of unerupted canines and premolars. Results: Sexual dimorphism was evident between southern Chinese males and females in incisors, canines, and premolars in the mesiodistal dimension. CONCLUSIONS: To predict the space (in mm) required for alignment of unerupted canine and premolars in southern Chinese children, halve the sum of the mesiodistal dimensions of the four mandibular incisors and add the respective constants for males (upper, 11.5; lower, 10.5) or females (upper, 11.0; lower, 10.0).  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to clarify the interrelation of the tooth crown diameters using statistical methods. The material consisted of 414 dental casts from orthodontic patients in the Japanese female. The mesiodistal diameters of all permanent teeth on the left side were measured, excluding the third molars. These values were examined by correlation coefficient matrix and multivariate analyses such as multiple regression, principal component and canonical correlation, etc. The results were as follows: 1) The tooth crown diameters showed a strong intercorrelation within each jaw and between both jaws. 2) When the incisors and the canine were large in size, the premolars and the molars tended to be small. 3) When the incisors and the molars were large in size, the canine and the premolars tended to be small. 4) When the incisors and the premolars were large in size, the canine and the molars tended to be small. 5) All of the teeth except the upper lateral incisor were classified according to size into the four groups of incisors, canines, premolars and molars. 6) The dentition with small teeth tended to show a spaced arch.  相似文献

The aim of this investigation was to examine the accuracy of Moyers probability tables and the Tanaka and Johnston prediction equations in predicting the size of unerupted canines and premolars of the maxillary and mandibular quadrants in an Iranian population and to derive a standard formula for it. METHODS: Out of a sample of 280 subjects, 50 (25 males and 25 females) were selected by specific inclusion criteria. An electronic digital caliper was used to read the nearest 0.01 mm. The teeth measurements derived were compared with those predicted from Tanaka Johnston equations and Moyers probability tables and then standard regression were developed. RESULTS: Tanaka and Johnston regression equations overestimate the mesiodistal width of permanent canines and premolars. There were no statistically significant differences between actual mesiodistal width of canines and premolars and the predicted width from Moyers charts at 65% for the lower and upper arches in male subjects and for the lower arch in females but none of the probabilities has good accuracy for the upper arch in females. For the newly developed regression equations, the correlation coefficients between the sum of the mandibular incisors and the sum of the canine and premolars were 0.709 (for lower) and 0.539 (for upper) in subjects. CONCLUSIONS: Tanaka and Johnston overestimate the actual size for Iranian teeth widths. Moyers method can be used at 65% probability level for male subjects and at the 75% and 85% level for upper arch and the 50% and 65% level for lower arch in female subjects.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to develop a novel hybrid genetic algorithm and artificial neural network (GA-ANN) system for predicting the sizes of unerupted canines and premolars during the mixed dentition period. This study was performed on 106 untreated subjects (52 girls, 54 boys, aged 13-15 years). Data were obtained from dental cast measurements. A hybrid GA-ANN algorithm was developed to find the best reference teeth and the most accurate mapping function. Based on a regression analysis, the strongest correlation was observed between the sum of the mesiodistal widths of the mandibular canines and premolars and the mesiodistal widths of the mandibular first molars and incisors (r = 0.697). In the maxilla, the highest correlation was observed between the sum of the mesiodistal widths of the canines and premolars and the mesiodistal widths of the mandibular first molars and maxillary central incisors (0.742). The hybrid GA-ANN algorithm selected the mandibular first molars and incisors and the maxillary central incisors as the reference teeth for predicting the sum of the mesiodistal widths of the canines and premolars. The prediction error rates and maximum rates of over/underestimation using the hybrid GA-ANN algorithm were smaller than those using linear regression analyses.  相似文献

The lower permanent incisor tooth width sum has been proposed as the best predictor for the tooth width sums of the unerupted canine and premolars (SPCP) for populations from different ethnic origins. Only two previous studies have refuted it. The purpose of the present study was to determine which sum or combination of sums of permanent tooth widths presented the best prediction capability for the SPCP in a Peruvian sample, to calculate a specific linear regression equation for this population, and to evaluate the clinical significance. A total of 150 children with complete permanent dentitions were selected. Fifty more children were used as a validation sample for the application of a multiple linear regression equation (MLRE). They did not present clinically visible dental caries or proximal restorations and no active or previous orthodontic treatment. Their dental casts were measured to 0.1 mm with a sliding caliper with a Vernier scale. Three-way analysis of variance, Pearson Correlation Test, Fisher Z values and a MLRE were used for the statistical analysis. The combination of the sums of permanent upper and lower central incisors and upper first molars was the best predictor for the SPCP in this sample. A MLRE was calculated including sex and arch as additional predictor variables. The MLRE determination coefficient was 60% with a standard error of 0.8 mm. This new MLRE underestimates (less than 1 mm discrepancy) the actual SPCP in only 7% of the cases on the basis of a validation sample.  相似文献

A case report is detailed in which autotransplanted maxillary canines were removed and the spaces closed. Substantial surrounding bone loss was associated with the upper right canine, and a bone graft was needed to reestablish normal dentoalveolar ridge morphology. Bone was taken from the maxillary tuberosity and placed in the canine extraction site, fixed with a bone screw, and covered with GoreTex. Seven months after placement of the bone graft, the GoreTex and stabilizing screw were removed to allow for consolidation of the bone. The upper left canine and lower second premolars were extracted, and fixed appliances were placed in both arches to align the teeth and close the spaces. Protraction of the upper right first premolar and retraction of the lateral incisor into the graft site were kept slow and constant with continued periodontal assessment. During the space closure, there was some concern that the bone in the graft site might resorb, leaving the teeth with compromised periodontal support. However, no significant periodontal attachment loss occurred despite ongoing concern about the amount of keratinized tissue. Perhaps the relatively slow rate of tooth movement provided for bone to be maintained and recreated ahead of the tooth. Almost complete closure of the upper canine extraction spaces was achieved. The upper premolars were substituted for the maxillary canines, and unfavorable prosthetic options were thus avoided. The lower arch was aligned, and the extraction spaces completely closed.  相似文献

Objectives. To ascertain the average and range of ages and sequence of eruption of human permanent teeth, taking into account the effect of premature loss of primary antecedents. Design. Longitudinal study. Setting. Caucasian subjects in Northern Ireland. Sample and methods. Study casts at 6-monthly intervals from age 5 to 15 years of 276 children (146 males and 130 females) enrolled in the Belfast Growth Study. The mean and range of ages of eruption of each individual tooth were computed. Comparisons were made between the mean ages of eruption with and without premature loss of primary antecedents, between upper and lower arches, between right and left sides and between males and females. The sequence of eruption was also investigated. Results. The means and ranges of eruption ages are reported. Premature loss of primary antecedents delayed eruption of permanent successors except for the upper premolars which were accelerated. The differences relating to the upper first premolar and lower canine were not statistically significant. Each lower tooth erupted before its upper counterpart except for the premolars. There was no significant difference in age of eruption between right and left sides. Females tended to erupt teeth before males with the exception of the second molars in both arches; however, the only differences to reach statistical significance related to upper and lower canines and upper lateral incisors. The most frequent orders of eruption were unique to the subject. These occurred in 22% of upper and 33% of lower arches. The classic sequences: first molar–central incisor–lateral incisor–first premolar–canine–second premolar–second molar (M1-I1-I2-PM1-C-PM2-M2) in the upper arch and I1-M1-I2-C-PM1-PM2-M2 in the lower arch occurred in only 16% of upper arches and 13% of lower arches. Males adhered to the textbook sequence (20% upper, 17% lower) more than females (12% upper, 8% lower). In the upper arch of females, the order M1-I1-I2-PM1-PM2-C-M2 in 10% of subjects was almost as frequent as the classic sequence. Conclusion. The ages, ranges and orders of eruption found in this study are more reliable than many which are frequently quoted on account of its longitudinal nature and the fact that the effect of premature loss of primary antecedents is taken into account. The exclusively Caucasian sample makes the data quite precise but limits applicability to patients of this ethnic origin.  相似文献

目的: 采用锥形束CT(CBCT)研究单侧尖牙阻生病例牙颌的三维结构特征,评估发生上颌尖牙阻生的相关风险因素,为正畸临床早期干预提供依据。方法: 选取30例单侧上颌尖牙阻生患者的CBCT,利用Romexis软件进行三维重建,测量、比较两侧牙颌三维结构特征指标,采用SPSS17.0软件包进行配对t检验和相关数据的回归分析。结果: 阻生侧尖牙和侧切牙倾斜度明显增大,尖牙牙冠更向近中、侧切牙向远中倾斜(P<0.001);阻生侧尖牙体积更大、侧切牙体积更小(P<0.05),当尖牙体积增大或侧切牙体积减小时,上颌尖牙的阻生概率增加;阻生侧牙弓弧形长度更短,牙弓宽度在尖牙区和前磨牙区更短(P<0.001),而宽度在磨牙区无显著差异(P>0.05),两侧牙弓长度在尖牙区、前磨牙区和磨牙区无显著差异(P>0.05)。结论: 上颌尖牙阻生伴随或导致同侧牙及牙槽骨三维方向发育异常,上颌尖牙阻生的严重程度与周围牙颌结构异常密切相关,提示上颌尖牙阻生可以早期预判、诊断,且可以实施有效的早期干预。  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to establish normative data for mesiodistal tooth crown dimensions with respect to malocclusions and gender differences in Turkish sample. The subjects were randomly selected and assigned to three malocclusion groups according to Angle's classification. Each group consisted of 100 individuals between the ages of 13 and 18 years with the following distribution: Class I, 42 males and 58 females; Class II, 52 males and 48 females; and Class III, 51 males and 49 females. An electronic digital calliper was used to measure the mesiodistal tooth width from the right second permanent molar to the left second permanent molar on both upper and lower study casts. For statistical evaluation, one- and two-way analyses of variance and post hoc Tukey's honestly significant difference (HSD) tests were performed. There were statistically significant differences for the maxillary canine (P < 0.001), first premolar (P < 0.05), second molar (P < 0.05), and mandibular canine (P < 0.01) for males, and for all maxillary teeth and the mandibular central (P < 0.05), canine (P < 0.001), and first premolar (P < 0.05) teeth in females among the malocclusion groups. When Angle's classification was evaluated, significant differences were determined, except for the first and second mandibular molars. All mesiodistal widths were also found to be statistically different according to gender dimorphism. A significant relationship was found between mesiodistal tooth size, Angle's classification, and gender. Therefore, tooth dimensions may play a crucial role in treatment planning and in achieving satisfactory interdigitation of the upper and lower dentition following the completion of orthodontic treatment.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Published standards for permanent tooth emergence in Australian children are 40 years old. The aim of this study was to present new data on the timing and sequence of permanent tooth emergence in a large sample of Australian children and to compare the findings with those of earlier studies. METHODS: Records of a randomly selected sample of 8676 children, aged between 4 to 16 years, who had attended the clinics of the South Australian Dental Service were scanned optically and coded to provide the data for this study. A logistic regression analysis enabled median times of emergence, together with percentile ranges, to be calculated for each tooth, except third molars, in boys and girls. Comparisons were made between the sexes and with previously published values. The frequencies of occurrence of emergence polymorphisms for different tooth pairs were also computed. RESULTS: The earliest teeth to emerge in both boys and girls were the central incisors and first molars, whereas the second premolars and molars and maxillary canines tended to be last to emerge. The mandibular teeth tended to precede the corresponding maxillary teeth in emergence in both sexes. Tooth emergence was advanced in girls compared with boys, averaging 4.5 months in the maxilla and 5.3 months in the mandible. In general, emergence times of children in the present sample were later than those reported previously for Australian children. The most common emergence polymorphism in the maxilla involved the canine and second premolar, whereas common polymorphisms in the mandible were noted for the central incisor and first molar, canine and first premolar, and the second premolar and second molar. CONCLUSIONS: Given that they have been collected relatively recently from a large sample of children, the new data reported in this paper can now be used as standards when assessing permanent tooth emergence of Australian children.  相似文献

The dentigerous cyst is a developmental odontogenic cyst, which apparently develops by accumulation of fluid between reduced enamel epithelium and the tooth crown of an unerupted tooth. It is one of the most prevalent types of odontogenic cysts associated with erupted, developing, or impacted tooth, particularly the mandibular third molars, the other teeth that are commonly affected are maxillary canines. The present case report is unique as it enclosed three permanent maxillary teeth: the central incisor, lateral incisor, and canine that had to be extracted during surgical enucleation of the cyst.  相似文献

Bite-wing radiographs of 259 schoolchildren were taken at the ages of 11 and 14 years. The mesiodistal pulp width in molar and premolar teeth and the height of the pulp chamber in the mandibular molars was measured using a Lysta-Dent Digitizer. The results indicated that the mesiodistal width of the pulp formed 42 per cent of the overall dimension of the mandibular first permanent molar, and 35 per cent of the maxillary teeth in children aged 11 years. This compared with 23 and 21 per cent in the corresponding second premolar teeth of children of similar age. There was a reduction in the mesiodistal width of the pulp chamber of molar and premolar teeth between the ages of 11 and 14 years. This diminution was most marked in the newly erupted second premolars (3·5 per cent), but of minor significance in the first permanent molars (only 1 per cent in the case of the mandibular tooth). There was a highly significant reduction in the height of the pulp chamber of the mandibular first permanent molar (15 per cent), this was mainly due to an increase in thickness of the pulpal floor.  相似文献

This study was done to examine the applicability of the Tanaka and Johnston and Moyers’ methods of prediction in Egyptian population and to develop a new prediction method for this specific population if necessary. A total of 325 Egyptian students 145 female, 180 male, mean age 14.4 years, SD±1.1 years were randomly selected from 10 preparatory and secondary schools in Mansoura city, Dakahlia governorate, Egypt during the academic year 2008–2009. The mesiodistal crown diameters of the permanent teeth were measured and compared with the predicted values derived from the Tanaka and Johnston's equations and from Moyers’ probability tables at 35%, 50% and 75%. Significant sexual dimorphism was found in tooth sizes. There were significant differences between the actual measurements and that derived from the Tanaka and Johnston's equation and Moyers’ tables. New linear regression equations were derived for both genders to allow accurate tooth size prediction in Egyptians. The correlation coefficients between the total mesiodistal width of the mandibular permanent incisors and that of the maxillary and mandibular canines and premolars were found to be 0.78 and 0.89 in male and 0.63 and 0.87 in female, respectively. It can be concluded that there is a limitation in the application of the Tanaka and Johnston's and Moyers’ prediction methods to Egyptian population. The developed prediction equation is more accurate for predicting the mesiodistal widths of unerupted canine and premolars of Egyptian population.  相似文献
