Summary Background Indian Asians living in Western Countries have an over 50 % increased risk of coronary heart disease (CHD) relative to their Caucasians counterparts. The atherogenic lipoprotein phenotype (ALP), which is more prevalent in this ethnic group, may in part explain the increased risk. A low dietary long chain n-3 fatty acid (LC n-3 PUFA) intake and a high dietary n-6 PUFA intake and n-6:n-3 PUFA ratio in Indian Asians have been proposed as contributors to the increased ALP incidence and CHD risk in this subgroup. Aim To examine the impact of dietary n-6:n-3 PUFA ratio on membrane fatty acid composition, blood lipid levels and markers of insulin sensitivity in Indian Asians living in the UK. Methods Twentynine males were assigned to either a moderate or high n-6:n-3 PUFA (9 or 16) diet for 6 weeks. Fasting blood samples were collected at baseline and 6 weeks for analysis of triglycerides, total-, LDL- and HDL-cholesterol, non-esterified fatty acids, glucose, insulin, markers of insulin sensitivity and C-reactive protein. Results Group mean saturated fatty acid, MUFA, n-6 PUFA and n-3 PUFA on the moderate and high n-6:n-3 PUFA diets were 26 g/d, 43 g/d, 15 g/d, 2 g/d and 25 g/d, 25 g/d, 28 g/d, 2 g/d respectively. A significantly lower total membrane n-3 PUFA and a trend towards lower EPA and DHA levels were observed following the high n-6:n-3 PUFA diet. However no significant effect of treatment on plasma lipids was evident. There was a trend towards a loss of insulin sensitivity on the high n-6:n- 3 PUFA diet, with the increase in fasting insulin (P = 0.04) and HOMA IR [(insulin x glucose)/ 22.5] (P = 0.02) reaching significance. Conclusion The results of the current study suggest that, within the context of a western diet, it is unlikely that dietary n-6:n-3 PUFA ratio has any major impact on the levels of LC n-3 PUFA in membrane phospholipids or have any major clinically relevant impact on insulin sensitivity and its associated dyslipidaemia. 目的观察膳食n6n3脂肪酸比值对淋巴细胞脂肪酸构成及细胞功能的影响。方法BALBc小鼠随机分为5组n6n3比值分别为1(A组)、75(B组)、15(C组)、30(D组)和正常对照组,其中实验组S∶M∶P模拟中国居民膳食脂肪酸摄入的S∶M∶P为1∶15∶1,正常对照组为AIN93G配方的1∶15∶37。基础饲料采用AIN93G配方,脂肪酸构成以食用油脂调配。饲养12周。测定小鼠T淋巴细胞功能,脾淋巴细胞脂肪酸构成、PGE2水平。结果n6n3比值接近1时,小鼠T淋巴细胞增殖活性、CD4+、CD8+T细胞比例、培养上清IL2、PGE2水平显著降低;淋巴细胞C18∶2、C20∶4、n6PUFA含量显著减少;C22∶6、C16∶1、C18∶1、总MUFA含量明显高于其他实验组。淋巴细胞C22∶6含量与淋巴细胞增殖活性显著负相关;C20∶5含量与CD4+T淋巴细胞比例、IL2水平显著负相关;C16∶1含量与CD4+、CD8+T淋巴细胞比例显著负相关。结论小鼠脾淋巴细胞的脂肪酸构成受膳食脂肪酸构成的影响;n6n3比值为1组与比值为30的膳食组相比较,小鼠T淋巴细胞增殖活性受到抑制。  相似文献

To survey risk factors in coronary heart disease, we compared serum fatty acid composition and lipids for university students in Japan (33 males and 29 females) and in the Netherlands (20 males and 19 females). No significant differences were found between the mean levels of cholesterol (Chol) and triglycerides (TG) between the subjects in the two countries. The mean levels of polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA), monounsaturated fatty acid (MUFA) and saturated fatty acid (SFA) of Japanese students were similar to those of the Dutch students. In both countries, the levels of Chol showed a positive correlation with the levels of PUFA, n-6 PUFA, linoleic acid (C18:2n-6), and arachidonic acid (AA, C20:4n-6) but no correlation with the percentages of PUFA and the ratio of PUFA/SFA. On the other hand, the TG levels correlated inversely with the percentage of PUFA and the ratios of PUFA/SFA in both countries. When compared to those of Japanese students, low eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA, C20:5n-3) and high AA were found in the Dutch students (p < 0.001, respectively). The total amounts of n-3 PUFA in the Dutch were significandy lower than those in the Japanese (p < 0.001) but no differences among those of n-6 PUFA. The ratios of EPA/AA and n-3/n-6 PUFA of the Dutch students were lower than those of the Japanese students (p < 0.001, respectively). The ratio of EPA/AA showed a positive correlation with EPA but not with AA in both countries. The levels of Toc which will decrease the risk of coronary vascular disease (CVD) were lower in Japan than those in the Dutch in both sexes (p < 0.01, respectively). These results suggest that the low EPA and high AA levels and the low n-3/n-6 PUFA ratio may lead to greater incidence of CVD.  相似文献

CHD mortality is extremely low in Japan, particularly in rural districts, when compared with that in Western countries. This has been partly attributed to the difference in dietary lifestyle. We investigated the factors influencing CHD mortality in a rural coastal district of Japan, comprising mercantile, farming, and fishing areas with distinct dietary habits. We prospectively examined the incidence of CHD from 1994 to 1998, as well as coronary risk factors and serum fatty acid concentrations. The incidence of angina pectoris was significantly (P=0.01) lower in the fishing area than in the mercantile and farming areas. Blood pressure, physical activity, prevalence of diabetes, serum levels of uric acid and HDL-cholesterol were similar between the three areas. Total- and LDL-cholesterol levels were significantly lower but the smoking rate was markedly higher in the fishing area than in the other two areas. Serum levels of saturated fatty acids and n-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) were lowest in the fishing area, but n-3 PUFA did not differ significantly. The n-6:n-3 PUFA ratio was lowest and eicosapentaenoic:arachidonic acid was highest in the fishing area. Although many previous studies have emphasized the beneficial effect of n-3 PUFA in preventing CHD, the present study indicated that a lower intake of n-6 PUFA and saturated fatty acids has an additional preventive effect on CHD even when the serum level of n-3 PUFA is high because of high dietary fish consumption.  相似文献

目的:探讨膳食多不饱和脂肪酸n-6/n-3比值对小鼠T淋巴细胞功能和脂质过氧化的影响。方法:96只BALb/c小鼠随机分为8组:饱和脂肪酸:单不饱和脂肪酸:多不饱和脂肪酸(S∶M∶P)为1:1.5:3.7和1:1.5:1,n-6/n-3比值分别为1、7.5、15、30,各4组。基础饲料采用AIN-93G配方,各组饲料的脂肪酸构成以食用油脂调配。饲养12w。测定小鼠T淋巴细胞功能,IL-2和血清丙二醛(MDA)水平。结果:S:M:P为1:1.5∶3.7,n-6/n-3为1时,小鼠T淋巴细胞增殖活性、IL-2水平均显著降低(P<0.05),且两者显著正相关(r=0.438,P<0.05),n-6/n-3为1、30时,血清MDA水平明显高于n-6/n-3为7.5和15组(P<0.05);S:M:P为1:1.5:1,n-6/n-3为1时,小鼠T淋巴细胞增殖活性、CD4+/CD8+T细胞比例、IL-2水平明显降低(P<0.05),n-6/n-3为1、30时,血清MDA水平明显高于n-6/n-3为7.5组(P<0.05)。结论:S:M:P为1:1.5:3.7和1:1.5:1,n-6/n-3为1时,T淋巴细胞功能受到抑制,其作用机制可能与IL-2有关;DHA对CD4+/CD8+T细胞比例的抑制作用可能大于ALA;结合脂质过氧化程度来考虑,膳食n-6/n-3为7.5~15范围内较为理想。  相似文献

Inflammatory bowel diseases are life-long reoccurring inflammatory disorders of the gastrointestinal tract and have been increasing in incidence in recent decades, notably in the pediatric population. Although genetic predisposition remains an important factor, this increased incidence most likely reflects an environmental change. One potential contributor to this is the change in dietary fat intake, with dietary intake of n-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) following a similar temporal pattern to the change in inflammatory bowel disease incidence. Dietary n-6 PUFAs comprise a major, modifiable, environmental factor known to promote a heightened inflammatory response through a number of pathways, including their role as precursors for synthesis of eicosanoids and their inhibitory effect on the synthesis of the n-3 PUFAs eicosapentanoic acid and do-cosahexanoic acid. The increase in n-6PUFA intake affects individuals of all ages, with fetal PUFA accretion and infant dietary PUFA intake from breast milk reflecting maternal dietary intake. A high level of n-6 PUFA in milk results in increased n-6 PUFA in colonicphospholipids and an exaggerated inflammatory response to chemically induced colitis. Conversely, during development, a diet low in n-6 PUFAs and high in n-3 PUFAs increases colonic n-3 fatty acids, attenuates the inflammatory response, and lowers colonic damage. High dietary n-6 PUFA intake may be an important environmental modifier that contributes to inflammatory bowel diseases.  相似文献

The effects of a 47-week diet of butter or safflower oil as fat in combination with casein or soy protein as protein were observed for the serum concentrations of lipids and fatty acid compositions in rat serum and heart. Serum total cholesterol (Chol) did not differ among the four experimental diet groups. In the butter groups, significantly higher low-density lipoprotein (LDL)-Chol and lower high-density lipoprotein (HDL)-Chol were observed than in the safflower oil groups (p<0.005, respectively). Higher levels of α-tocopherol were found in the butter groups than in the safflower oil groups (p<0.05) and in the casein groups than in the soy protein groups (p<0.01). In comparison with the safflower oil groups, the butter groups showed higher n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) contents and lower n-6 PUFA contents in serum and the hearts (p<0.005). The ratios of n-3/n-6 PUFA in the butter groups in serum, 0.26 and 0.18, and in the hearts, 0.37 and 0.36, (butter-casein diet and butter-soy protein diet, respectively) were higher than those of the safflower oil groups of under 0.01 in serum and 0.02 and 0.03 in the hearts (safflower oil-casein diet and safflower oil-soy protein diet, respectively) (p<0.005). In the soy protein groups, higher n-3 PUFA contents in the hearts were found than those of the casein groups (p<0.05). This study suggested that the butter diet induces higher levels of n-3 PUFA and a higher n-3/n-6 PUFA ratio than the safflower oil diet in rat serum and hearts over a long feeding period.  相似文献

目的分析广州40~65岁居民膳食n-6/n-3脂肪酸比值与心血管疾病危险因素的关系。方法 40~65岁广州市民1133人,采用定量食物频数问卷调查对象的每日摄入食物种类和数量,计算能量和营养素摄入量,检测其红细胞膜脂肪酸构成、血脂及颈动脉内中膜厚度(IMT),分析n-6/n-3比值大小高Q3,中Q2,低Q1与血压、血脂和IMT的关系。结果 995人资料完整纳入分析。对象日均膳食总能量摄入为9.10±2.09MJ、脂肪供能比为(34.3±7.9)%。膳食n-6/n-3脂肪酸比值为(29.74±22.71):1,红细胞膜n-6/n-3脂肪酸比值为(2.7±1.0):1,膳食SFA:MUFA:PUFA为1:1.5:1。膳食n-3脂肪酸摄入量与红细胞膜n-3构成比、膳食n-6/n-3比值与红细胞膜n-6/n-3比值均呈显著正相关关系。膳食n-6/n-3比值最高组Q3(>31.16)对象的收缩压、TC和IMT水平显著高于最低组Q1(<17.40);红细胞膜n-6/n-3比值最高组Q3(>3.04)和中间组Q2(2.18~3.03)对象的收缩压、舒张压、TC、LDL-C及IMT水平均显著高于最低组Q1(≤2.17)。结论广州市40~65岁居民膳食n-6/n-3脂肪酸比值约为30:1;该比值小于17.40:1时,有较低的血压,总胆固醇及IMT水平。  相似文献

Rabbit meat is a highly digestible, tasty, low-calorie food, often recommended by nutritionists over other meats. Currently research in the rabbit sector is interested in developing feeding strategies aiming to further increase the nutritional value of rabbit meat as a "functional food" by including n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 PUFA), conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), vitamins and antioxidants in rabbit diets and assessing their effects on both raw and stored/processed meat quality properties. Our recent studies indicate that the dietary inclusion from 3 to 6% of linseed might be considered as a way to achieve the enrichment of the meat with α-linolenic acid and to guarantee satisfactory product stability during further processing and storage. Considering that 6% dietary linseed corresponds to a n-3 PUFA content of 8.5% of the total fatty acids and a lipid content of 4.7 g/100 g of leg meat, a content of 396 mg n-3 PUFA/100g meat can be estimated, which represents about 19% of the recommended daily allowance (RDA) for n-3 PUFA.  相似文献

Patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) have a high morbidity and mortality from cardiovascular disease. An elevated homocysteine level is an independent predictor of cardiovascular events in patients with ESRD. Interestingly, some studies have found an inverse relationship between the content of marine n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and homocysteine levels, but data are ambiguous. In patients with ESRD, we hypothesized that serum phospholipid n-3 PUFA content would inversely correlate with homocysteine levels in plasma and that supplementation with n-3 PUFA would reduce plasma homocysteine levels. In a double-blind, randomized, controlled design, 206 patients with documented cardiovascular disease and treated with hemodialysis for a minimum of 6 months were randomized to treatment with daily supplement of 1.7 g n-3 PUFA or placebo (olive oil) for 3 months. The content of n-3 PUFA in serum phospholipids and homocysteine levels in plasma were measured at baseline and after 3 months of intervention. A dietary questionnaire was filled out at baseline, and study participants were divided into groups of low, intermediate, and high fish intake. Docosahexaenoic acid was inversely correlated with homocysteine at baseline (coefficient = −0.161; P = .03). Homocysteine was not related to self-reported fish intake. Supplementation with n-3 PUFA did not reduce homocysteine levels compared with placebo (mean ± SD difference, −0.3 ± 7.8 versus 0.3 ± 7.1; P = .58). The content of docosahexaenoic acid in serum phospholipids is inversely correlated with plasma homocysteine levels, and supplementation with n-3 PUFA does not reduce homocysteine levels in patients with ESRD.  相似文献

Randomised controlled trials (RCT) of mixed n-6 and n-3 PUFA diets, and meta-analyses of their CHD outcomes, have been considered decisive evidence in specifically advising consumption of 'at least 5-10 % of energy as n-6 PUFA'. Here we (1) performed an extensive literature search and extracted detailed dietary and outcome data enabling a critical examination of all RCT that increased PUFA and reported relevant CHD outcomes; (2) determined if dietary interventions increased n-6 PUFA with specificity, or increased both n-3 and n-6 PUFA (i.e. mixed n-3/n-6 PUFA diets); (3) compared mixed n-3/n-6 PUFA to n-6 specific PUFA diets on relevant CHD outcomes in meta-analyses; (4) evaluated the potential confounding role of trans-fatty acids (TFA). n-3 PUFA intakes were increased substantially in four of eight datasets, and the n-6 PUFA linoleic acid was raised with specificity in four datasets. n-3 and n-6 PUFA replaced a combination of TFA and SFA in all eight datasets. For non-fatal myocardial infarction (MI)+CHD death, the pooled risk reduction for mixed n-3/n-6 PUFA diets was 22 % (risk ratio (RR) 0.78; 95 % CI 0.65, 0.93) compared to an increased risk of 13 % for n-6 specific PUFA diets (RR 1.13; 95 % CI 0.84, 1.53). Risk of non-fatal MI+CHD death was significantly higher in n-6 specific PUFA diets compared to mixed n-3/n-6 PUFA diets (P = 0.02). RCT that substituted n-6 PUFA for TFA and SFA without simultaneously increasing n-3 PUFA produced an increase in risk of death that approached statistical significance (RR 1.16; 95 % CI 0.95, 1.42). Advice to specifically increase n-6 PUFA intake, based on mixed n-3/n-6 RCT data, is unlikely to provide the intended benefits, and may actually increase the risks of CHD and death.  相似文献

Concussions and mild traumatic brain injury (m-TBI) have been identified as a consequential public health concern because of their potential to cause considerable impairments in physical, cognitive, behavioral, and social functions. Given their prominent structural and functional roles in the brain, n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) have been identified as a potentially viable prophylactic agent that may ameliorate the deleterious effects of m-TBI on brain function. The purpose of the present pilot study was to investigate the effect of n-3 PUFA on neurologic function using a weight drop injury (WDI) model. Fat-1 mice, capable of synthesizing n-3 PUFA endogenously from n-6 PUFA, and their wild-type (WT) counterparts, were subjected to a mild low-impact WDI on the closed cranium, and recovery was evaluated using the neurological severity score (NSS) to assess the motor and neurobehavioral outcomes. In comparison to the WT mice, the fat-1 mice had a significantly (p ≤ 0.05) lower NSS at all time points post-WDI, and significantly greater neurological restoration measured as the time to first movement. Overall, these findings demonstrate the protective effect of n-3 PUFA against mild brain injury.  相似文献

Over the last few years, the vegan diet has become increasingly popular in Germany. It has been proposed that this diet is generally lower in fat, but less is known about the impact on fatty acid (FA) profiles. Therefore, the cross-sectional “Risks and Benefits of a Vegan Diet” (RBVD) study (n = 72) was used to investigate dietary FA intake as well as plasma phospholipid FA in vegans (n = 36) compared to omnivores (n = 36). Vegans had a significantly lower dietary intake of total fat (median 86 g/day, IQR 64–111) in comparison to omnivores (median 104 g/day, IQR 88–143, p = 0.004). Further, vegans had a lower intake of saturated fatty acids (SFA) (p < 0.0001) and monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) (p = 0.001) compared to omnivores. Vegans had a higher intake in total polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), omega-3 and omega-6 PUFA compared to omnivores, but without statistical significance after Bonferroni correction. According to plasma phospholipid profiles, relatively lower proportions of SFA (p < 0.0001), total trans fatty acids (TFA) (p = 0.0004) and omega-3-FA (p < 0.0001), but higher proportions of omega-6-FA (p < 0.0001) were observed in vegans. With the exception of omega-3 PUFA, a vegan diet is associated with a more favorable dietary fat intake and more favorable plasma FA profiles and therefore may reduce cardiovascular risk.  相似文献

Westernized diet is characterized by a high content of saturated fatty acids (SFA) and a low level of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), often accompanied by an imbalance in the omega-6/omega-3 PUFA ratio. Since increased intake of SFA and n-6 PUFA is considered as a cardiovascular disease risk factor, this study was conducted to determine whether a three-month dietary supplementation of high-fat diets (HFDs) with saturated fatty acids and a significant proportion of various n-6 and n-3 PUFA ratios would affect the architecture and protein expression patterns of the murine heart. Therefore, three HFD (n = 6) feeding groups: rich in SFA, dominated by PUFA with the n-6/n-3–14:1, and n-6/n-3–5:1, ratios were compared to animals fed standard mouse chow. For this purpose, we performed two-dimensional electrophoresis with MALDI-ToF mass spectrometry-based identification of differentially expressed cardiac proteins, and a histological examination of cardiac morphology. The results indicated that mice fed with all HFDs developed signs of hypertrophy and cardiac fibrosis. Animals fed SFA-rich HFD manifested the most severe cardiac hypertrophy and fibrosis lesions, whereas less pronounced changes were observed in the group of animals that ingested the highest amount of omega-3 FA. In general, all HFDs, regardless of FA composition, evoked a comparable pattern of cardiac protein changes and affected the following biological processes: lipid metabolism and FA β-oxidation, glycolysis, TCA cycle, respiratory chain, myocardium contractility, oxidative stress and PUFA eicosanoid metabolism. However, it should be noted that three proteins, namely IDH3A, LDHB, and AK1, were affected differently by various FA contents. High expression of these myocardial proteins found in the group of animals fed a HFD with the highest n-3 PUFA content could be closely related to the observed development of hypertrophy.  相似文献

Experimental studies suggest omega-3 (n-3) polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) suppress and n-6 PUFA promote prostate tumor carcinogenesis. Epidemiologic evidence remains inconclusive. The objectives of this study were to examine the association between n-3 and n-6 PUFA and prostate cancer risk and determine if these associations differ by race or disease aggressiveness. We hypothesize that high intakes of n-3 and n-6 PUFA will be associated with lower and higher prostate cancer risk, respectively. A case-control study comprising 79 prostate cancer cases and 187 controls was conducted at the Durham VA Medical Center. Diet was assessed using a food frequency questionnaire. Logistic regression analyses were used to obtain odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CI) for the associations between n-3 and n-6 PUFA intakes, the dietary ratio of n-6/n-3 fatty acids, and prostate cancer risk. Our results showed no significant associations between specific n-3 or n-6 PUFA intakes and prostate cancer risk. The highest dietary ratio of n-6/n-3 was significantly associated with elevated risk of high-grade (OR, 3.55; 95% CI, 1.18-10.69; Ptrend = 0.03), but not low-grade prostate cancer (OR, 0.95; 95% CI, 0.43-2.17). In race-specific analyses, an increasing dietary ratio of n-6/n-3 fatty acids correlated with higher prostate cancer risk among white men (Ptrend = 0.05), but not black men. In conclusion, our findings suggest that a high dietary ratio of n-6/n-3 fatty acids may increase the risk of overall prostate cancer among white men and possibly increase the risk of high-grade prostate cancer among all men.  相似文献

Ischemic preconditioning (IPC) and (n-3) PUFA are both cardioprotective. This study compared effects of dietary fish oil, IPC, and their interactions on heart function and injury during myocardial ischemia and reperfusion. Male Wistar rats were fed diets containing 10% wt:wt fat comprising either 7% high-docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) [22:6(n-3)] tuna fish oil + 3% olive oil [(n-3) PUFA]; 5% sunflower seed oil + 5% olive oil [(n-6) PUFA]; or 7% beef tallow + 3% olive oil [saturated fat (SF)] for 6 wk. In control experiments, isolated perfused hearts were subjected to 30-min regional ischemia and reperfused for 120 min. The IPC hearts were subjected to 3 cycles of 5-min global ischemia before the ischemia and reperfusion. Control (n-3) PUFA hearts had significantly lower heart rate, coronary flow, end diastolic pressure, maximum relaxation rate, and ischemic and reperfusion arrhythmias. In reperfusion, they had greater developed pressure and maximum relaxation rate and smaller infarct (10.9 +/- 0.6% ischemic zone, n = 6) than (n-6) PUFA (47.4 +/- 0.3%, n = 6) or SF (50.3 +/- 0.3%, n = 6). Compared with control, IPC significantly improved heart function and reduced infarct in (n-6) PUFA (11.8 +/- 0.4%, n = 6) and SF hearts (13.1 +/- 0.1%, n = 6). Heart function and infarct [(n-3) PUFA 9.6 +/- 0.1%, n = 6] did not differ among dietary IPC groups. Arrhythmias, significantly reduced by IPC in (n-6) PUFA and SF hearts, were significantly lower in (n-3) PUFA IPC hearts. Dietary fish oil induces a form of preconditioning, nutritional preconditioning, limiting ischemic cardiac injury, and myocardial infarction and endows cardioprotection as powerful as IPC, which provides no additional protection in (n-3) PUFA hearts.  相似文献

During the last century much evidence has accumulated to suggest that from a public health perspective the type of fat is more important than the amount of fat. Saturated and trans-fatty acids increase and both n-6 and n-3 PUFA decrease the risk of CHD. Most of the knowledge about the effects of dietary fatty acids on CHD risk is based on observational studies and controlled dietary experiments with intermediate end points (e.g. blood lipoprotein fractions). Information from high-quality randomised controlled trials on fatty acids and CHD is lacking. The Netherlands Institute for Public Health has calculated the potential health gain that can be achieved if the fatty acid composition of the current Dutch diet is replaced by the recommended fatty acid composition. The recommendations of The Netherlands Health Council are: saturated fatty acids <10% energy intake; trans-fatty acids <1% energy intake; fish consumption (an indicator of n-3 PUFA) once or twice weekly. Implementation of this recommendation could reduce the incidence of CHD in The Netherlands by about 25,000/year and the number of CHD-related deaths by about 6000/year and increase life expectancy from age 40 years onwards by 0.5 year. These projections indicate the public health potential of interventions that modify the fatty acid composition of the diet.  相似文献

The effects of dietary saturated fatty acids and polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) of the n-3 and n-6 series on weight gain, body composition and substrate oxidation were investigated in broiler chickens. At 3 weeks of age three groups of chickens (n 30; ten birds per group) were fed the fat-enriched experimental diets for 5 weeks. These diets were isonitrogenous, isoenergetic and contained 208 g protein/kg and 80 g edible tallow, fish oil or sunflower oil/kg; the dietary fatty acid profiles were thus dominated by saturated fatty acids, n-3 PUFA or n-6 PUFA respectively. Resting RQ was measured in five birds from each treatment group during weeks 4 and 5 of the experiment. There were no significant differences between treatments in total feed intake or final body mass. Birds fed the PUFA diets had lower RQ and significantly reduced abdominal fat pad weights (P<0.01) compared with those fed tallow. The dietary lipid profile changes resulted in significantly greater partitioning of energy into lean tissue than into fat tissue (calculated as breast lean tissue weight:abdominal fat mass) in the PUFA groups compared with the saturated fat group (P<0.01; with no difference between the n-3 and n-6 PUFA groups). In addition, the PUFA-rich diets lowered plasma concentrations of serum triacylglycerols and cholesterol. The findings indicate that dietary fatty acid profile influences nutrient partitioning in broiler chickens.  相似文献

目的研究不同n-3/n-6配比脂肪酸对大鼠磷酸腺苷酸活化蛋白激酶(AMP-activated protein kinase,AMPK)蛋白及活性表达的影响。方法58只SD大鼠适应性喂养7d后,尾静脉取血。根据血清总胆固醇水平随机分为:空白(基础饲料);高脂(高脂饲料);高脂1:1(高脂饲料+n-3/n-6=1:1配方油);高脂1:5(高脂饲料+n3/n6=1:5配方油);低脂1:1(脱脂基础饲料+n-3/n-6=1:1配方油);低脂1:5(脱脂基础饲料+n3/n6=1:5配方油)6组,喂养45d,观察大鼠摄食与体重增长。于实验前1d,15d,30d,45d分别各取血测血清总胆固醇水平,于D45处死动物。Western blotting分别分析肝和下丘脑组织中AMPK-α总蛋白及其活性表达。结果添加PUFA的4个比例组血清TC、体重与高脂组相比,显著降低,且低脂2个比例组和高脂1:1组均与高脂1:5组相比有显著差异。添加PUFA的4个比例组均与高脂组相比,大鼠下丘脑AMPK-α总蛋白表达水平明显降低,肝AMPK-α蛋白表达水平均比高脂组明显升高。结论PUFA改善血脂可能是通过增加肝AMPK表达,抑制下丘脑AMPK表达,增加肝脂肪酸氧化和抑制食欲,影响血脂代谢。  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to examine the hypothesis that serum levels of phospholipid (PL) fatty acids (FA) and minerals are associated with the components of metabolic syndrome (MetS) in the Chinese population and the profiles of changes may differ from patients with MetS from Western countries. The levels of serum PL, FA, and minerals were examined in 201 subjects (52 with MetS and 149 healthy controls without any MetS components) in China. The saturated FA proportion in serum was significantly higher, whereas the proportion of total polyunsaturated FA (PUFA), n-3 and n-6 PUFA (22:6n-3: −16%, P = .006; 20:4n-6: −36%, P < .001), and estimated δ-5 desaturase were significantly lower in the MetS group compared with those that are not MetS. Subjects with MetS had higher levels of serum Zn (P = .037) and Mg (P < .001) than subjects without MetS. The proportion of n-3 PUFA was significantly negatively correlated with body mass index and waist circumference. In conclusion, serum PL FA composition and serum minerals in Chinese men with MetS differed significantly from that of healthy individuals, reflecting a decrease in n-3 and n-6 PUFA, especially 22:6n-3 and 20:4n-6, and an increase in saturated FA, magnesium, and zinc. These changes may reflect improper dietary intake in subjects with MetS, and dietary modification could be useful to prevent MetS and as an adjunctive therapy.  相似文献
