BACKGROUND: Use of an implantable mechatronic microsystem (artificial accommodation system) is a novel approach to restoration of the accommodative capacity of the human eye. One such system, based on the triple-optic approach, has been selected for investigation of its suitability. METHODS: Optical modelling of the dioptric apparatus is carried out by means of an optical simulation tool. Postoperative refractive compensation plus at least 3 dpt of accommodation are required. RESULTS: An axial shift of 300 microm or less is achieved for the entire range of biometric data ascertained before surgery. In addition, the defined requirements made of optical imaging quality are met. CONCLUSIONS: The triple-optic approach is basically suitable for application in the restoration of accommodative capacity. It seems that flexure hinges could be used in association with conducting polymers as actuator material. One question that is still open concerns the deformability of such implants as this relates to minimally invasive corneal incisions. 相似文献

A 48-year-old man presented with a vascular anomaly of the iris in the left eye. Slit-lamp microscopy revealed dilated and tortuous vessels of the iris between 12 and 4 o'clock. Fluorescein angiography confirmed a diagnosis of arteriovenous (AV) malformation of the iris. The vessel originated at the iris base, passed to the pupillary margin and returned to the base. Such AV-malformations of the iris are very rare, benign vascular anomalies that have to be distinguished from other, potentially malignant pathologies of the iris (e. g. tortuous vessels in iris melanoma). 相似文献

Zusammenfassung Die Verfasser beschreiben eingehend die Krankengeschichte einer jungen, 20 jährigen Patientin, bei welcher als Folge einer, übrigens unbedeutenden Verletzung auf der Vorderseite der Iris des rechten Auges eine durchsichtige, mit feinen Gefäßen versehene, cystöse Neubildung in Erscheinung trat. Der Tumor war von Augenhypertension begleitet und wurde mittels weitangelegter Iridektomie entfernt. Sehvermögen normal.Eine anatomisch-pathologische Untersuchung hat ergeben, daß es sich um ein primäres Irissarkom handelte, welches aus Spindelzellen mit eiförmigem Kern bestand, die wirbelförmig, in Bündel angeordnet waren; dieselben waren auf dem Wege, in Melanom verwandelt zu werden.Es werden die Schwierigkeiten der Diagnosestellung sowie das therapeutische Verhalten bei diesen Tumoren erörtert; dieses muß, falls der Tumor nicht allzu ausgedehnt ist, konservativ sein, wobei die Entfernung des Neoplasmas bei Erhaltung des Augapfels anzustreben ist.Mit 5 Textabbildungen 相似文献

Delleman Oorthuys syndrome (oculocerebrocutaneous syndrome) is a rare, congenital sporadic disorder affecting the skin and central nervous system. We present the case of a one-month-old male who presented with an orbital cyst in the left eye since birth along with other manifestations of this syndrome. The manifestations of this syndrome resemble other developmental disorders like Goldenhar and Goltz syndrome. Conservative management of the orbital cyst in these cases have been described. The need to diagnose this rare congenital anomaly with cerebral malformations as a separate entity is crucial in the management of these children. 相似文献

Purpose; To study the human iris pigment epithelial cells cultivation in vitro. Methods: The iris pigment epithelial cells were isolated by scraping directly or by enzyme digestion and cultured in vitro. The cells were observed under the transmission electron microscope and analized by means of immunohistochemical assay.Results: The cells obtained by scraping were easier to grow and to be passaged than those obtained by enzyme digestion. The primary cells appeared multigonal and arranged in mono-layer. Abundant pigment granules were in the cytoplasm and diminished in succeeding generations . The maculae occludentes and desmosomes and microvilli which were characteristics of epithelial cells could be found under the electronmicroscope. The immunohistochemical assay showed positive reaction of keratin antigen in cultured cells.Conclusion: The human iris pigment epithelial cells could be cultured in vitro and the cells in primary generation some characteristics be preserved. Purpose: To evaluate intraobserver and interobserver reproducibility of real time measurement of iris morphology in living human eyes.Methods: Base on the platform of software (Autocad, version 12), we developed an ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) image asisstant measuring system. By using the system, we can perform the iris configuration quantitative measurement in living eyes. The measuring parameters including: iris rest length,radius of iris curvature,and the thickness in different parts of iris. Ten anterior segment images of one normal individual were obtained by a single operator to evaluate the intraobserver reproducibility of image capture, and ten times measurement of one image were performed by a single operator to assess the reproducibilityof image measurement. The measurement of three independent observers were compared to investigate interobserver reproducibility in quantitative measurement.
