An 11-year-old girl with Opitz (BBBG) syndrome presented with a bleeding disorder. Studies showed an immune-mediated qualitative platelet dysfunction in the absence of thrombocytopenia. This is the first report of hemostatic dysfunction in a patient with the Opitz (BBBG) syndrome. This report considers the possible relationship of the platelet dysfunction to the Opitz (BBBG) syndrome and its treatment.  相似文献

The Opitz BBBG syndrome is characterized by hypertelorism and (in male patients) hypospadias, in addition to a number of midline abnormalities: posterior laryngeal cleft, stridor, swallowing dysfunction, cardiac defects, imperforate anus, and urinary tract and CNS anomalies. Inheritance is autosomal dominant (McKusick number * 145410) with partial male sex limitation in most pedigrees. We report a Dutch family with Opitz BBBG syndrome in which the proband developed late-onset symptoms of a structural laryngeal abnormality.  相似文献

We describe a patient with a paracentric inversion and partial duplication of chromosome 5p. In addition this patient presented with a malformation pattern consistent with Opitz BBBG syndrome. This implies that the gene responsible for this single gene defect may be located within this duplicated region.  相似文献

Toriello-Carey syndrome comprises agenesis of the corpus callosum, telecanthus, small palpebral fissures, Pierre Robin sequence, abnormal ears, nuchal laxity and cardiac defects. We report on a female patient who has some additional findings including an anteriorly placed anus. This anomaly adds to the list of other midline anomalies seen in this syndrome. We compare the findings to those seen in the Opitz BBBG syndrome, a well-defined syndrome of the midline developmental field. Our patient, having a severe manifestation of complicated congenital heart disease, died in the neonatal period, which argues against the likelihood that this is an X-linked disorder with more severe manifestations in males.  相似文献

We describe a patient who had craniofacial and genitourinary abnormalities, swallowing difficulties, esophageal dysfunction, hypotonia and moderate developmental delay, and who also had a terminal deletion of chromosome 13 (q32.3qter). This MCA pattern strongly suggests the Opitz GBBB syndrome. The deletion of chromosome 13 was interpreted as terminal with a breakpoint at 13q32.3. Coagulation factors VII and X located in 13q34, were markedly reduced in the propositus. Although there is some clinical overlap between patients with terminal deletion of 13q and those with the Opitz GBBB syndrome, our patient manifests a whole pattern of abnormalities characteristic of the latter disorder. The concurrence of the Opitz GBBB syndrome and the chromosome abnormality in our patient could be due to chance or, be becuase a gene for the Opitz GBBB syndrome is located at the tip of 13q. © 1995 Wiley-Liss, Inc.  相似文献

This report is on a 14-month-old boy with manifestations of Opitz (G/BBB) syndrome in whom a 22q11.2 deletion was found. Deletion analysis was requested because of some findings in this patient reminiscent of velocardiofacial (VCF) syndrome. The extent of aspiration and of respiratory symptoms in this child is not usually seen in VCF syndrome. We report on 12 Brazilian boys with the Opitz G/BBB syndrome associated with CNS midline anomalies, namely, Dandy-Walker anomaly (two patients), enlarged cisterna magna (four patients), enlarged 4th ventricle (four patients), and callosal a/hypoplasia (two patients). We report on a family where the propositus had G syndrome, including laryngeal cleft, and another relative had the facial anomalies typical of the BBB syndrome. We review the literature on the BBB and G syndrome, and argue that no clinical or laboratory criteria permit a differential diagnosis of the two syndromes. Therefore, we suggest that they should be considered variable expression of the same gene. The name BBBG syndrome is proposed for the amalgamated syndrome.  相似文献

Rump P, Niessen RC, Verbruggen KT, Brouwer OF, de Raad M, Hordijk R. A novel mutation in MED12 causes FG syndrome (Opitz–Kaveggia syndrome). Opitz–Kaveggia syndrome is a rare X‐linked multiple congenital anomalies and intellectual disability disorder caused by the recurrent p.R961W mutation in the MED12 gene. Twenty‐three affected males from 10 families with this mutation in the MED12 gene have been described so far. Here we report on a new family with three affected cousins, in which we identified a novel MED12 mutation (p.G958E). This is the first demonstration that other mutations in this gene can also lead to Opitz–Kaveggia syndrome. The clinical phenotype of these three new cases is reviewed in detail and compared with the previous reported cases.  相似文献

We report on four unrelated cases of an Opitz trigonocephaly (C)-like syndrome with a highly characteristic combination of facial anomalies including prominent metopic suture, exophthalmos, hypertelorism, cleft lip and palate, flexion deformities of the upper limbs and multiple other anomalies. We also review two very similar published cases formerly considered to have the C syndrome. Although there is overlap, a clinical distinction from the Opitz trigonocephaly and other syndromes seems possible, and thus a specific causal entity may be postulated.  相似文献

We report the brain magnetic resonance imaging findings in 4 patients with the Opitz BBB/G syndrome. The scans were assessed by subjective interpretation and computerized image analysis. Findings noted in 3 of the 4 patients include hypoplasia or agenesis of the corpus callosum (3 patients), cortical atrophy and ventriculomegaly (3 patients), macro cisterna magna (3 patients), and a wide cavum septum pellucidum (1 patient). One patient had a normal scan. The demonstration of a wide cavum septum pellucidum extends the spectrum of midline brain anomalies (ventral induction defects) reported in this condition. This study along with other recent reports suggests that midline brain anomalies may be frequent findings in Opitz syndrome. © 1993 Wiley-Liss, Inc.  相似文献

We report a 2-year-old boy with overlapping manifestations of the Kabuki (Niikawa-Kuroki) and Opitz trigonocephaly syndromes. The proband was initially diagnosed with Opitz trigonocephaly syndrome on the basis of metopic craniosynostosis, upslanting palpebral fissures, high arched palate, redundant skin folds at the back of the neck, ventricular septal defect, broad flat thumbs, bilateral single palmar creases, left talipes equinovarus, eventration of right hemidiaphragm, and bilateral inguinal hernia. However, as he grew older, his facial profile changed to that typical of Kabuki syndrome.  相似文献

Five patients were previously described with the Opitz (GBBB) syndrome (OMIM 145410) phenotype and 22q11.2 deletion determined by FISH but the precise limits of their deletions have not been determined. Since one locus for Opitz syndrome maps to 22q11.2 and chromosomal arrangements are frequently complex and could inactivate such a locus, we performed high-resolution array-based comparative genomic hybridization (CGH) on a new Opitz syndrome-like phenotype patient with a 22q11.2 deletion. He shares the same deletion as patients with velocardiofacial and DiGeorge syndrome.  相似文献

The combination of complex congenital heart disease (double outlet right ventricle with pulmonary atresia, malalignment ventriculoseptal defect, right-sided aortic arch with left ductus arteriosus) and bladder exstrophy occurred in an infant with Opitz syndrome. Neither of these defects has previously been reported in association with Opitz syndrome. These malformations, which are midline defects, further characterize this syndrome as an impairment in midline development.
