OBJECTIVE: This study was designed to determine the composition of postprandial triglyceride-rich lipoproteins (TRL) after the intake of pomace olive oil (POO), which is a subproduct of the extraction of virgin olive oil (VOO) and presents a high concentration of minor components with biological activity. METHODS: Meals enriched in POO and refined olive oil (ROO) were administrated to 9 healthy young men and blood was extracted every hour during a postprandial period of 7 hours. Serum and TRL lipid composition were measured by enzymatic and chromatographic methods and apolipoprotein B composition by SDS-PAGE. RESULTS: POO and ROO showed a very similar fatty acid composition but differed in their unsaponifiable fraction. The content of phytosterols, tocopherols, terpenic acids and alcohols and fatty alcohols was much higher in POO than in ROO. Serum lipids were not affected by the administration of the oils but the triglyceride concentration in TRL and the size of the particles (p < 0.05) after POO was higher at time point 2 h and lower at time point 4 h compared with ROO. In contrast, the number of TRL particles was lower after POO, although the rate of clearance was similar. CONCLUSION: We suggest that the unsaponifiable fraction between the two olive oils affect the size and composition of postprandial TRL, which might have a relevant impact on their atherogenicity.  相似文献

The influence of the source of dietary fat on postprandial thermogenesis and substrate oxidation rates, was examined in twelve postmenopausal women aged 57-73 years, with BMI 21.9-38.3 kg/m(2). A single blind, randomised, paired comparison of two high-fat, isoenergetic, mixed test meals was conducted. The major source of fat was either cream (CREAM) or extra virgin olive oil (EVOO). RMR, diet-induced thermogenesis (DIT) and substrate oxidation rates over 5 h were measured by indirect calorimetry. There were no differences in body weight, RMR, fasting carbohydrate or fat oxidation rates between the two occasions. DIT (EVOO 97 (SD 46) v. CREAM 76 (SD 69) kJ/5 h and EVOO 5.2 (SD 2.5) v. CREAM 4.1 (SD 3.7)% energy) did not differ between the two test meals. The postprandial increase in carbohydrate oxidation rates, relative to their respective fasting values (DeltaCOX), was significantly lower following the EVOO meal (EVOO 10.6 (SD 8.3) v. CREAM 17.5 (SD 10) g/5 h; paired t test, P=0.023), while postprandial fat oxidation rates (DeltaFOX) were significantly higher (EVOO 0.0 (SD 4.4) v. CREAM -3.6 (sd 4.0) g/5 h; P=0.028). In the eight obese subjects, however, DIT was significantly higher following the EVOO meal (EVOO 5.1 (SD 2.0) v. CREAM 2.5 (sd 2.9) %; P=0.01). This was accompanied by a significantly lower DeltaCOX (EVOO 10.9 (SD 9.9) v. CREAM 17.3 (SD 10.5) g/5 h; P=0.03) and significantly higher DeltaFOX (EVOO 0.11 (SD 4.4) v. CREAM -4.1 (SD 4.5) g/5 h, P=0.034). The present study showed that olive oil significantly promoted postprandial fat oxidation and stimulated DIT in abdominally obese postmenopausal women.  相似文献

Abstract

Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) major and minor component anti-inflammatory effect on aorta was evaluated; Wistar rats were fed (9 weeks) on either a high-cholesterol diet (HCD) or a HCD supplemented with oils, i.e. EVOO, sunflower oil (SO), high-oleic sunflower oil (HOSO), or oil-products modified to their phenolic content, i.e. phenolics deprived-EVOO [EVOO(?)], SO enriched with the EVOO phenolics [SO(+)], HOSO enriched with the EVOO phenolics [HOSO(+)]. HCD induced dyslipidemia and resulted in higher aorta adhesion molecules levels at euthanasia. Groups receiving EVOO, EVOO(?), HOSO, HOSO(+) presented higher serum TC and LDL-c levels compared to cholesterol-fed rats; attenuation of aorta E-selectin levels was also observed. In EVOO/EVOO(?) groups, aorta vascular endothelial adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1) was lower compared to HCD animals. SO/SO(+) diets had no effect on endothelial dysfunction amelioration. Overall, our results suggest that major and/or minor EVOO constituents improve aorta E-selectin and VCAM-1, while serum lipids do not benefit.  相似文献

Monounsaturated oils, virgin olive oil (VOO) and high oleic sunflower oil (HOSO) are suggested to have selective physiologic effects on humans in the fasting state. The aim of the study was to evaluate whether two oils with equal amounts of oleic acid but with different compositions of minor fatty acids and triacylglycerol molecular species (TAG) could produce different triacylglycerol-rich lipoprotein (TRL)-TAG responses in the postprandial state. Eight normolipidemic men consumed the following three meals in random order on separate occasions with 2 wk between meals: control meal, control meal plus VOO and control meal plus HOSO. Plasma total TAG and TRL-TAG were measured hourly for 7 h after ingestion. TAG and sn-2 positional fatty acids within TAG were analyzed in the TRL fraction. Plasma total TAG concentrations in response to the dietary oils did not differ. However, TRL triglyceridemia was significantly lower after VOO intake (P < 0.05). The molecular species in the TRL fraction returned toward basal levels more quickly (P < 0.05) after VOO than HOSO intake. 2-Positional fatty acid analysis demonstrated higher proportions of stearic and palmitic acids and a lower proportion of oleic acid (P < 0.05) in TRL-TAG derived from HOSO. This study shows that VOO intake results in attenuated postprandial TAG concentration and faster TRL-TAG disappearance from blood compared with HOSO, suggesting that the oleic acid content may not be the main factor affecting TAG metabolism. Minor fatty acids such as linoleic acid and the 2-positional distribution of saturated stearic and palmitic acids into the TAG molecule may be important determinants of postprandial lipemia in normolipidemic men.  相似文献

Summary Background In vitro, olive phenols exert potent antioxidant and enzyme-modulating activities. Aim of the study We comparatively evaluate, in mildly dyslipidemic patients, the vasoprotective potential of extra virgin olive oil. Methods 22 patients were administered 40 mL/day of either extra-virgin, i. e. phenol rich, or refined, i. e. phenol poor, olive oils (EVOO or ROO, respectively, with nearly identical fatty acid composition), with a crossover design. Each treatment was carried out for seven weeks, with four weeks of washout in between. Plasma antioxidant capacity, serum thromboxane B2 (TXB2) formation, and urinary isoprostane excretion were evaluated as surrogate markers of cardioprotective potential and vascular function. Results No effects on plasma lipid/lipoprotein profile were observed. Conversely, EVOO consumption was associated with favorable effects on circulating markers. Namely, decreased serum TXB2 production and increased plasma antioxidant capacity were observed when EVOO was administered in both treatment arms. Neither treatment had any significant effect on isoprostane excretion. Conclusions EVOO consumption by mildly dyslipidemic patients is associated with favorable changes in circulating markers of cardiovascular condition. Based on current knowledge, these effects may be associated with cardioprotection.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: The objective of the present study was to verify the effect of a dietary oil, consisting mainly of diacylglycerol (DAG) oil, in a typical meal on postprandial changes in serum triacylglycerol (TAG) and remnant-like particle cholesterol (RLP-C) compared with dietary triacylglycerol (TAG) oil. METHODS: In a double-blind, randomized, crossover design, 43 healthy Japanese men and women ingested test meals (2093 kJ of energy, 30 g of protein, 19 g of lipids, and 51 g of carbohydrates) containing 10 g of DAG oil (DAG meal) or TAG oil (TAG meal). Blood samples were collected in a fasting state (0 h) and at 2, 3, 4, and 6 h after ingestion of the meal. RESULTS: Postprandial TAG, RLP-C, and chylomicron TAG concentrations were significantly lower after the DAG meal compared with the TAG meal. In 29 subjects with fasting serum TAG levels of at least 1.13 mmol/L (100 mg/dL), differences in postprandial serum changes between meal types were even more remarkable and the incremental areas under the response curve (0 to 6 h) for serum TAG and RLP-C concentrations after the DAG meal were significantly smaller than those after the TAG meal. CONCLUSIONS: These results suggest that DAG oil in the daily diet is useful for the prevention of postprandial hyperlipidemia and related disorders.  相似文献

Objective: Consumption of olive oil may cause postprandial impairment of endothelial function, while acute ingestion of red wine seems to improve it. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the combined postprandial effects of two essential components of the Mediterranean diet, red wine and olive oil, on endothelial function.

Methods: Fifteen healthy subjects were enrolled in the study, which was comprised of 4 study days. Subjects were asked to consume a standard meal at each study day containing 50gr of olive oil and 250 ml of wine. Two types of wine (red and white; rich and poor in antioxidants respectively) and two types of olive oil (green and refined; rich and poor in antioxidants respectively) were used in a 2*2 design. Endothelium dependent, flow mediated dilatation (FMD) was measured with a B-Mode ultrasound device at fast and 1, 2 and 3 hours postprandially.

Results: Combined consumption of red wine and green olive oil (both rich in antioxidants) improved FMD postprandially (p = 0.002, ANOVA for repeated measures), which remained significant 1 hour (p = 0.002) and 2 hours (0.037) following the meal compared to fasting levels. No other combination of wine and olive oil caused any significant alteration on FMD.

Conclusion: Acute consumption of both red wine and green olive oil, rich in antioxidants, led to an improvement in the postprandial endothelial function in healthy subjects. These findings provide an additional favorable effect of components of the Mediterranean diet and of their antioxidant substances on endothelial function, at the postprandial state.  相似文献

Moderate-intensity exercise can lower the TAG response to a high-fat meal; however, the British diet is moderate in fat, and no study to date has compared the effect of such exercise on responses to high-fat and moderate-fat meals. The present work investigated the effect of brisk walking performed 13?h before intake of both high-fat and moderate-fat meals on postprandial plasma TAG concentrations. Eight inactive, overweight men completed four separate 2?d trials, i.e. rest (Con) or a 90-min treadmill walk (Ex) on the evening of day 1, followed by the ingestion of a moderate-fat (Mod) or high-fat (High) meal on the morning of day 2. High-fat meals contained 66?% of total energy as fat, while the percentage was 35?% for moderate-fat meals; both the meals were, however, isoenergetic. On day 2, venous blood was sampled in the fasted state, 30 and 60?min after ingesting the test meal and then hourly until 6?h post-meal. Aerobic exercise has been shown to lower postprandial TAG concentrations after a meal(s) of high-fat content. This study examined the effects of moderate-intensity cycling on postprandial TAG concentrations and pre-heparin lipoprotein lipase concentrations after subjects consumed a meal of moderate-fat content (45 % of total energy). Twelve male subjects, aged 24 (sem 1) years, completed two 2 d trials (exercise and control) at least 1 week apart in a randomised, repeated measures design. On day 1, subjects either cycled for 30 min at 65 % of maximum heart rate in the afternoon or rested (no exercise). On day 2 of both trials, after an overnight stay with an 11 h fast, subjects consumed a test meal of moderate-fat content (0.61 g fat, 1.34 g carbohydrate, 0.37 g protein and 51 kJ energy/kg body mass) for breakfast. Blood samples were collected at baseline (before the exercise or at an equivalent time-point during the control trial on day 1), in the fasted state (0 h) and at 2, 4 and 6 h postprandially on day 2. The total and incremental areas under the serum TAG concentration v. time curve were 30 % (P = 0.039) and 33 % (P = 0.012) lower on the exercise trial compared with the control trial, respectively. Serum pre-heparin lipoprotein lipase concentrations did not differ between the exercise and control trials. These findings demonstrate that 30 min of moderate-intensity cycling performed the day before a meal of moderate-fat content is effective at lowering postprandial serum TAG concentrations but does not affect serum pre-heparin lipoprotein lipase concentrations in young men.  相似文献

The aim of the study was to provoke cephalic and metabolic responses by oral fat stimulation with different high-fat meals in the postprandial state. A randomized parallel design was executed with three groups of subjects (twenty-six women and ten men; twelve subjects per group). Oral fat stimulation was achieved by the modified sham feeding (MSF) technique. Five hours after a high-fat breakfast, the subjects were given one of three test meals in random order: a high-fat lunch, water or the same lunch as the MSF. The main fat sources in the high-fat lunch and MSF were olive oil, linoleic oil and oleic oil. For 3 h after the test meal, blood samples were taken for analysis of metabolite, and visual analogue scales of appetite profile were completed. A cephalic response appeared to be achieved by MSF in that we observed a relative increase in insulin and glucose; this response lasted up until 90 min, indicating possible vagal stimulation. NEFA increased significantly after MSF compared with water ingestion in the case of olive oil (P<0.0001) and linoleic oil (P<0.05), but not with oleic oil. MSF provoked a significantly higher increase in triacylglycerol and glycerol levels compared with water ingestion in the case of linoleic oil (P<0.05). Satiety was significantly increased in the eating condition and in the MSF condition (P<0.0002, all oils) compared with water ingestion. We conclude that cephalic and perhaps vagal stimulation by different fats increased the concentrations of the metabolites and stimulated satiety, with linoleic oil showing the strongest response.  相似文献

The present paper compares the effects of two monounsaturated oils, extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) and high-oleic acid sunflower oil (HOSO), on serum and LDL peroxides, eicosanoid production and the thrombogenic ratio (thromboxane (TX) B2:6-keto-prostaglandin F1alpha) in fourteen non-obese post-menopausal women. The subjects, mean age 63 (SD 11) years, were assigned to two consecutive oleic acid-rich 28 d dietary periods. EVOO and HOSO represented 62 % of the total lipid intake and were used as the only culinary fat during the first and second dietary periods respectively. Serum peroxides, plasma alpha-tocopherol and TXB2 levels in stimulated platelet-rich plasma (PRP-TXB2) were significantly higher (P < 0.01, P < 0.001, and P < 0.05, respectively) after the HOSO diet than after the EVOO diet. The relationship between the serum cholesterol level (< 6.21 mmol/l or > or = 6.21 mmol/l) and the type of dietary oil on eicosanoids, peroxides and alpha-tocopherol were evaluated by two-way ANOVA. Dietary oil significantly affected (P < 0.05) the PRP-TXB2 level, whereas serum and LDL peroxides were significantly affected (P < 0.001 and P < 0.01, respectively) by the serum cholesterol level. The plasma alpha-tocopherol level was significantly affected by the serum cholesterol level and the type of dietary oil (both P < 0.001). No significant relationships were found between serum cholesterol levels, serum peroxide or LDL peroxide levels, plasma alpha-tocopherol concentrations or alpha-tocopherol intakes with eicosanoid production or the thrombogenic ratio due to dietary changes. However, in spite of their higher alpha-tocopherol levels, hypercholesterolaemic subjects showed increased peroxidation in serum and LDL in comparison with normocholesterolaemic subjects on the HOSO diet in comparison with the EVOO diet. These findings suggest that differences in the type of minor compounds, as well as in the concentration of linoleic acid, in both these monounsaturated oils may play an important role in modulating eicosanoid production and lipoprotein peroxidation when they constitute a large proportion of the diet of post-menopausal women.  相似文献

OBJECTIVES: To assess the effect of two similar olive oils, but with differences in their phenolic compounds (powerful antioxidant compounds), on inflammatory markers in stable coronary heart disease patients. DESIGN: Placebo-controlled, crossover, randomized trial. SETTING: Cardiology Department of Hospital del Mar and Institut Municipal d'Investigació Mèdica (Barcelona). SUBJECTS: Twenty-eight stable coronary heart disease patients. INTERVENTIONS: A raw daily dose of 50 ml of virgin and refined olive oil (ROO) was sequentially administered over two periods of 3-weeks, preceded by 2-week washout periods in which ROO was used.Results:Interleukin-6 (P<0.002) and C-reactive protein (P=0.024) decreased after virgin olive oil intervention. No changes were observed in soluble intercellular and vascular adhesion molecules, glucose and lipid profile. CONCLUSIONS: Consumption of virgin olive oil, could provide beneficial effects in stable coronary heart disease patients as an additional intervention to the pharmacological treatment.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Postprandial lipemia is important in the development of coronary artery disease because of elevated postprandial triacylglycerol-rich plasma lipoproteins and suppressed HDL-cholesterol concentrations. We showed in healthy subjects a possible association between postprandial lipid metabolism and the responses of the duodenal incretin hormones glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) and gastric inhibitory polypeptide after meals rich in saturated and monounsaturated fatty acids (oleic acid), respectively. OBJECTIVE: The objective was to compare the postprandial responses (8 h) of glucose, insulin, fatty acids, triacylglycerol, gastric inhibitory polypeptide, and GLP-1 to saturated- and monounsaturated-rich test meals. DESIGN: Twelve overweight patients with type 2 diabetes ingested 3 meals randomly: an energy-free soup with 50 g carbohydrate (control meal), the control meal plus 100 g butter, and the control meal plus 80 g olive oil. Triacylglycerol responses were measured in total plasma and in a chylomicron-rich and a chylomicron-poor fraction. RESULTS: No significant differences in the glucose, insulin, or fatty acid responses to the 2 fat-rich meals were seen. The plasma triacylglycerol and chylomicron triacylglycerol responses were highest after the butter meal. HDL-cholesterol concentrations decreased significantly after the butter meal but did not change significantly after the olive oil meal. GLP-1 responses were highest after the olive oil meal. CONCLUSIONS: Olive oil induced lower triacylglycerol concentrations and higher HDL-cholesterol concentrations than did butter, without eliciting significant changes in glucose, insulin, or fatty acids. Furthermore, olive oil induced higher concentrations of GLP-1, which may indicate a relation between fatty acid composition, incretin responses, and triacylglycerol metabolism postprandially in patients with type 2 diabetes.  相似文献

目的研究2型糖尿病患者血清可溶性血管细胞黏附分子-1(sVCAM-1)、可溶性细胞间黏附分子-1(sICAM-1)水平和颈动脉内膜中层厚度(carotid intima-media thickness,CIMT)的关系以及吡格列酮治疗对其的影响。方法将150例2型糖尿病患者随机分为治疗组和对照组。治疗组在原治疗基础上给予吡格列酮15mg/d,治疗6个月,观察吡格列酮治疗前后血糖、血脂、sVCAM-1、sICAM-1和CIMT水平变化及与对照组之间的差别。结果与治疗前比较,两组治疗后血糖均下降,差异有统计学意义(P<0.05),治疗组治疗后sVCAM-1、sICAM-1和CIMT较治疗前显著降低,差异有统计学意义(P<0.05)。对照组治疗前后sVCAM-1、sICAM-1和CIMT差异无统计学意义(P<0.05)。多元线性逐步回归分析显示,CIMT变化与体质指数(BMI)餐后2h血糖(2hPG)、糖化血红蛋白(HbA1C)、甘油三酯(TG)、sVCAM-1和sICAM-1有关,相关系数分别为0.298、0.358、0.381、0.368、0.580、0.572(均P<0.05)。结论血清sVCAM-1和sICAM-1水平与2型糖尿病早期大血管病变关系密切,吡格列酮能显著降低2型糖尿病患者血清sVCAM-1和sICAM-1水平,这可能是吡格列酮血管保护的作用机制之一。  相似文献

In order to investigate the effect of red wine on plasma lipid and oxidative stress parameters after a high-fat meal, fifteen healthy volunteers were studied: three days after a high-fat meal with 250 mL of water, they received the same meal with 250 mL of red wine. During both periods, serial blood samples were drawn before and 2, 4, and 8 hours after the meal to evaluate plasma lipids (cholesterol and triglycerides; retinyl palmitate), oxidative stress (D-ROM, and malondialdehyde) and antioxidant (total plasma antioxidant levels and uric acid) parameters. During the meal without wine, plasma lipid parameters increased significantly, whereas plasma total plasma antioxidant levels decreased, and a trend toward reduction of uric acid levels was seen). A similar trend in lipid parameters was observed after the meal with wine; no significant difference in individual lipid parameter trends after a meal with and without wine was observed. Wine ingestion induced higher total plasma antioxidant levels and uric acid; malondialdehyde levels remained constant after wine ingestion. Plasma D-ROM showed a significant postprandial increase in both experiments, but it was significantly lowered after wine ingestion. Our results give evidence of oxidative stress following a fat-rich meal in healthy subjects, suggesting that ingestion of red wine during a high-fat meal significantly reduces oxidative stress without inducing any significant modification in postprandial lipemia.  相似文献

Extra-virgin olive oils (EVOO), high in phenolic compounds with antioxidant properties, could be partly responsible for the lower mortality and incidence of cancer and CVD in the Mediterranean region. The present study aims to measure oxidative DNA damage in healthy human subjects consuming olive oils with different concentrations of natural phenols. A randomised cross-over trial of high-phenol EVOO (high-EVOO; 592 mg total phenols/kg) v. low-phenol EVOO (low-EVOO; 147 mg/kg) was conducted in ten postmenopausal women in Florence. Subjects were asked to substitute all types of fat and oils habitually consumed with the study oil (50 g/d) for 8 weeks in each period. Oxidative DNA damage was measured by the comet assay in peripheral blood lymphocytes, collected at each visit during the study period. Urine samples over 24 h were collected to measure the excretion of the olive oil phenols. The average of the four measurements of oxidative DNA damage during treatment with high-EVOO was 30 % lower than the average during the low-EVOO treatment (P=0.02). Urinary excretion of hydroxytyrosol and its metabolite homovanillyl alcohol were significantly increased in subjects consuming high-EVOO. Despite the small sample size, the present study showed a reduction of DNA damage by consumption of an EVOO rich in phenols, particularly hydroxytyrosol.  相似文献

To evaluate the role of adhesion molecules and chemokines in the relationship between air pollution and asthma, the authors determined the following in 230 children who lived in 4 communities in Japan that had different levels of air pollution: serum concentrations of soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (sICAM-1); soluble vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (sVCAM-1); regulated on activation, normal T-cell expressed and secreted (RANTES); and total immunoglobulin E (IgE). Children with asthma or who exhibited wheezing (n = 115) and nonasthmatic children (n = 115) were studied. Serum concentrations of sICAM-1, sVCAM-1, and RANTES were increased significantly in asthmatic children, compared with nonasthmatic children. Nonasthmatic children with serum IgE levels that were greater than or equal to 250 IU/ml had significantly lower concentrations of sICAM-1 and sVCAM-1 than the other children. The geometric means of sICAM-1 increased as air pollution increased. The results of this study suggest that adhesion molecules or chemokines are associated with asthma and that ICAM-1 may play an important role in the relationship between air pollution and the occurrence of asthma.  相似文献

Postprandial hyperglycemia is a common complication in patients with metabolic syndrome (MS), and an improvement of their postprandial status could be beneficial for them. The aim of this study was to assess for the first time the effect of a wild artichoke (Cynara cardunculus) meal on postprandial glucose and insulin levels in patients with MS fulfilling the National Cholesterol Education Program Adult Treatment Panel III criteria (n = 19) and normal subjects (n = 8). We also evaluated the postprandial homocysteine levels because its metabolism seems to be affected by insulin. A randomized, crossover design was followed in which all subjects consumed a wild artichoke meal (boiled wild artichoke, white bread, refined olive oil, and lemon juice) and a control meal that did not contain the boiled artichoke. Glucose, insulin, and homocysteine levels were measured postprandially for 4 hours. The boiled artichoke, as compared with the control meal, abolished the postprandial increase of glucose (P = .031) and attenuated the postprandial insulin response (P = .047) 0.5 hours after the meal in normal subjects, whereas it had no effect in patients with MS. The consumption of the artichoke meal by both groups did not influence the postprandial homocysteine levels compared with the control meal. In conclusion, the boiled wild artichoke could not improve postprandial glycemic profile in subjects with MS, whereas its hypoglycemic effects could protect normal subjects from the noxious consequences of postprandial hyperglycemia.  相似文献

This study was performed to examine the postprandial effects of meals containing dietary fats, with their natural fatty acid composition and tocopherol content, on the plasma triacylglycerols (TG) and tocopherols and on the resistance of VLDL and LDL to oxidation. On six separate days eighteen healthy male subjects were given low-fat meals (LF) or the LF meals enriched with sunflower oil (SO), rapeseed oil (RO), olive oil (OO), palm oil (PO), or butter (B) in a crossover design. The fat-rich meals all resulted in similar postprandial TG responses while the LF test meal did not increase plasma TG level. The postprandial plasma fatty acid profile changed to resemble the fatty acid composition of the ingested test fat. The alpha-tocopherol:gamma-tocopherol ratios in postprandial plasma and VLDL samples were greater than in the test fats. We found that the resistance of VLDL particles to oxidation in the postprandial state as assessed from lag time was increased after the PO-rich meal as compared with the SO-rich meal (p = 0.018), and the propagation rate was greater after the SO- and RO-rich meals compared with the others (p < 0.001). The resistance of LDL particles to oxidation was unaffected by the meals. In postprandial VLDL samples, the content of alpha-tocopherol was greater after the OO- and SO-rich meals compared with the meal rich in PO (P = 0.034 and 0.042 respectively). The gamma-tocopherol content of VLDL was highest after RO-meal as compared with all other test meals (P = 0.0019), and higher after SO as compared with B (P = 0.0148). Large individual differences were noted. In conclusion, meals enriched with different fats lead to the formation of VLDL particles with varying resistance to oxidation.  相似文献

The aim of the present study was to determine whether the consumption of wild blueberries (Vaccinium angustifolium), a concentrated source of non-nutritive antioxidant phytochemicals, would enhance postprandial serum antioxidant status in healthy human subjects. A single-blinded crossover study was performed in a group of eight middle-aged male subjects (38-54 years). Subjects consumed a high-fat meal and a control supplement followed 1 week later by the same high-fat meal supplemented with 100.0 g freeze-dried wild blueberry powder. Upon brachial vein catheterization, fasting and postprandial serum samples were taken sequentially and analysed for lipids and glucose and for serum antioxidant status. Serum antioxidant status was determined using the oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC) assay and the total antioxidant status (TAS) assay. The wild-blueberry treatment was associated with a significant treatment effect as determined by the ORAC assay (water-soluble fraction ORAC(perchloric acid (PCA)), P=0.04). Significant increases in serum antioxidant status above the controls were observed at 1 h (ORAC(PCA) (8.5 % greater), P=0.02; TAS (4.5 % greater), P=0.05), and 4 h (ORAC(total) (15.0 % greater), P=0.009; ORAC(acetone) (16.0 % greater), P=0.007) post-consumption of the high-fat meal. In conclusion, the consumption of wild blueberries, a food source with high in vitro antioxidant properties, is associated with a diet-induced increase in ex vivo serum antioxidant status. It has been suggested that increasing the antioxidant status of serum may result in the reduced risk of many chronic degenerative diseases.  相似文献
