PURPOSE: To assess the current status of international ophthalmic publications. METHODS: A collection of 55,591 original articles were found by an on-line National Library of Medicine database Medline search for 32 international ophthalmic journals during a 15-year period from 1988 to 2002 (internet access, November 11-13, 2003). RESULTS: The contributions to international ophthalmic publications were by 49.5% from North America, 31.3% from Western Europe, 15.1% from Asia and Oceania, 2.2% from Middle East, 0.85% from Central and South America, 0.53% from Eastern Europe, and 0.47% from Africa. Countries of Asia and Oceania showed an increasing trend in contributions while North America had a decreasing productivity in a relative sense. The top 10 productive countries were USA, United Kingdom, Japan, Germany, Canada, Australia, Italy, Netherlands, Sweden, and France. Among the Asian countries India ranked 13th, China 18th, and Korea 21st. When related to population, small countries such as Israel, France, Finland, Sweden, and Denmark were more productive. When related to economic productivity as defined by GDP, Israel, the United Kingdom, Australia, Finland, and Sweden were among the most productive countries, whereas rich countries such as Japan and Germany had a lower number of publications relative to their GDP. As regards clinical research in terms of randomized controlled trials, The USA was by far the most productive. The number of authors per article has shown an increasing trend worldwide, so that Japan and France had a significantly larger proportion of multiauthored articles. CONCLUSIONS: There is an increasing trend in the productivity of international ophthalmic publications from non-English-speaking countries including Japan, China, and Korea.  相似文献

Purpose: To compare the volume of ophthalmic literature from the developed and developing countries. Methods: We performed a retrospective review of the five highest scoring impact factor journals in ophthalmology within the 3 year period 1998–2000 inclusive. Europe, North America, Australia, New Zealand and Japan were categorised as developed countries, all others were categorised as developing market economies. Correspondence, news articles and book reviews were excluded from our study. Results: The developing world contributed to only 5.47% of the literature compared to the 92.19% from the developed world. The majority of the contribution to ophthalmic literature from the developing countries originated from Israel, S. America, China, Saudi Arabia, India, Singapore and Korea. 2.33% of literature was the result of collaborative research from the two groups. Conclusion: The developing countries account for 90.8% of world blindness, compared to 9.2% from the developed countries, there is therefore, an inverse relationship between the burden of world blindness and the contribution to the highest impact factor ophthalmic journals with the developed countries only contributing to 5% of this research.  相似文献

Purpose

To perform a bibliometric analysis in the field of dry eye disease (DED) research to characterize the current international status of DED research and to identify the most effective actors (journals, countries, authors) involved in this field.

Methods

Scientometric methods were used to evaluate global scientific production and development trends in DED research, using the Web of Science Core Collection.

Results

The growth of the literature related to DED averaged 12.18% over the last 10 years. A total of 5522 original and review articles, published in 821 different journals, were identified. The USA was the most productive country with 34.53% of the overall articles studied and 46.10% of the overall citations. The Ocular Surface published a very high percentage of articles related to DED relative to the total number of articles published (31.87%). The most productive institutions and the most frequently cited articles were from the USA and Japan. A network visualization map for country collaboration revealed that most European countries developed most of their collaborations with countries belonging to their own continent, which was not the case for the USA or Japan. A total of 41,956 KeyWords Plus were found with an average of 7.6 (SD = 3.15) KeyWords Plus per article.

Conclusions

This study provides a broad view of the current status and trends in DED research and may help clinicians, researchers and policy makers better understand this research field and predict its dynamic directions.  相似文献

AIM: To examine the publication trend of oculoplastic articles throughout the last decade in general ophthalmology journals. METHODS: A review of all abstracts published between January 2010 to December 2019 in general, clinical ophthalmic journals was conducted. Articles that were categorized as original articles in general and clinical journals were included in the study. RESULTS: Totally 10 281 abstracts were included. Of them 465 (4.5%) were oculoplastic publications. The mean number of annual-publications was 46.5 and the mean annual-rate of oculoplastic publications was 4.51%. A significant decreasing trend in the number of oculoplastic publication in the last decade was found (P<0.01, R2=0.770). However, there was no significant change in the annual-rate of oculoplastic publications during the last decade (P=0.191, R2=0.203). From the 465 oculoplastic articles: 179 (38.5%) were articles about eyelid diseases, 160 (34.40%) were about orbit diseases, 92 (19.80%) were about lacrimal diseases and 34 (7.30%) were about thyroid eye disease (TED). A significant decreasing trends in the number of orbital and eyelids publications were found (P<0.01, P<0.01). However, there were no significant changes in the annual-rate of orbital, eyelids, TED and lacrimal-diseases publications throughout the last decade. CONCLUSION: Oculoplastic subspecialty deals with a wide range of pathologies in different ages. However, less than 5% of the articles in general, clinical, high impact factor ophthalmology journals are about oculoplastic diseases. One of the best way for ophthalmologists from different subspecilties, nowadays, to be updated, is to read high-impact-factor, general ophthalmology journals. Therefore, it is important that those journals will include articles about breakthroughs in oculoplastic.  相似文献

AIM: To investigate the published papers of ophthalmology in past ten years and explore the development of ophthalmology. RESULTS: The number of ophthalmology papers increased from 7450 to 9089 during 2007 to 2017. The average rate increased 2.2% annually. USA accounts for one thirds of the total and two thirds of the highly cited papers. In Asia, China, Japan and South Korea were in Top 10 by the number of ophthalmology papers. UK, Germany, Japan and Australia also had great impact in global ophthalmology. The hot spots included endothelial growth factor, optical coherence tomography and open-angle glaucoma. CONCLUSION: USA is in the leading position in global ophthalmology. Part of Asian countries play an important role in the development of ophthalmology, but the impact needs to be improved.  相似文献

PURPOSE: This study was conducted to determine Japan's share of published research in ophthalmology during the last decade. METHODS: Ophthalmology journals with higher impact factors were accessed through the Medline database to elicit the number of articles published in 1991-2000 that originated in various countries, including Japan. The proportion of articles with a higher grade of evidence (randomized controlled trials/clinical trials, cohort studies, and case-control studies) was determined for Japan and compared with the average values of the total articles published in these journals. In addition, the percentage of published research from the 20 top-ranking countries was calculated, showing the trend over time. RESULTS: Of the total articles (21,327), Japan's share in the selected ophthalmology journals was 6.5% (1,387 articles), ranking third in the world, following the USA (51.5%) and the UK (11.3%). The recent increase in the share was statistically significant for Japan (P =.01). However, the proportionate value of clinical research evidence was lower for Japan-originated articles than the average value for the total clinical research articles in these journals. CONCLUSIONS: Appropriate measures should be taken in the ophthalmology field in Japan to increase the number of clinical research papers with a higher grade of evidence.  相似文献

目的了解2000至2005年间我国内地学者在国际上发表的眼科学研究论文的情况。方法应用相关检索词从PubMed生物医学文献数据库中检索我国内地学者6年间在国际上发表的眼科学研究论文,并对论文数量、发表刊物、发表单位等进行统计和分析。结果2000至2005年我国内地眼科研究人员以第一作者或作者单位在国际上发表英文论文共392篇,刊载于134种期刊,源自83个单位,主要是医学院校及其附属医院和中国科学院。其中发表文章的数量≥4篇的期刊23种,累计发表文章的数量≥4篇的单位25个。结论6年间我国内地学者在国际上发表的眼科学研究论文数量呈现上升趋势,从一个侧面标志着我国眼科学研究水平正在不断发展和进步。  相似文献

Purpose: To analyse the pattern of change in publication content and citations generated by a mid‐ranking ophthalmology journal as it evolved from the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Ophthalmology (ANZJO) to its successor, Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology (CEO). Methods: The Science Citation Index was used to analyse the publications of ANZJO and CEO over two 10‐year periods (1990–1999 and 2000–2009, respectively). Publication and citation patterns were analysed in terms of source authors, institutions and countries. As a secondary measure, journal impact factors (JIFs) were retrieved from the Journal Citation Reports at the end of each period. Results: Over the specified periods, 859 articles published in ANZJO were cited 1210 times, and 1529 articles published in CEO were cited 5374 times. Australia was the largest contributing country to both journals; however, the proportional contributions from other countries including New Zealand, UK, USA, India and China increased significantly in CEO. Articles were cited by authors from 793 institutions in 60 countries for ANZJO and 2997 institutions in 95 countries for CEO. The contribution by key authors (identified as the top 10 most‐published authors) towards total journal publications was 24% in ANZJO, but only 16% in CEO; however, these publications were responsible for 26.6% and 28.8% of the total citations, respectively. With respect to the most recent JIFs, ANZJO was 0.433 in 1999 (ranked 33 of 43 journals) and CEO was 1.35 in 2008 (ranked 27 of 48 journals). Conclusion: CEO has substantially increased the number of publications, citation counts and international sources compared with its well‐established predecessor, ANZJO, over the assessed periods. CEO also appears to have a higher international profile with increasing citations counts from more countries. This evolution from a regional, to a more international, journal has been substantial and is reflected by a significant increment in JIF, and a modest increase in overall JIF‐ranking, for CEO.  相似文献

目的:基于Web of Science数据库的收录情况,运用文献计量的方法分析阿托品在近视防控领域中应用的现状以及研究热点。方法:文献研究。以近十年(2011—2021年)Web of Science(WOS)中的核心数据库收录的关于阿托品在近视防控领域研究的文献为分析对象,利用CiteSpace软件,运用文献计量学方法,从文献的年发文量、国家及机构来源、刊文期刊分布及关键词突现、共被引文献分析等角度对其进行可视化分析。结果:共检索到290篇文献,发文量最多的国家是中国,其次是美国;发文量最多的研究机构是新加坡国立眼科中心,其次是新加坡国立大学和香港理工大学;发文最多的期刊为《Ophthalmic and Physiological Optics》以及《Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science》;研究的趋势从早期以动物实验为主来研究阿托品类药物的药理学及安全性到中期的临床随机对照试验及基于这些对照试验进行的一系列Meta分析,目前的研究热点为阿托品对脉络膜厚度的影响。结论:应用CiteSpace分析阿托品在近视防控领域运用的相关文献,展示出了该领域目前的主要研究及彼此合作的国家和机构,揭示了该领域的研究趋势。阿托品在近视防控中的应用潜力巨大,仍具有较高的研究价值。  相似文献

21世纪以来,纵观我国眼科研究,在各方面都取得了长足进展,不少领域已处于国际先进水平。而我国眼科研究与西方发达国家仍存在差距,缺乏原始创新及学科交叉的深入研究是原因之一。要进一步提高我国眼科研究水平,缩小与发达国家的差距,需要从事眼科研究的工作者加快引进、消化、吸收并融合其他学科的研究成果和新技术,多出原始创新性的研究。在“后基因组”时代,单一学科很难解决如此复杂的生命科学问题,多学科交叉与融合为眼科研究带来了契机,特别是最近出现的信息生物学(bioinformatics)和系统生物学(systems biology)等新兴学科,将有助于推动眼科科研思维方式和研究手段的变革。  相似文献

AIM:To identify and characterize the 100 most influential articles in the field of myopia over the last decades.METHODS:Articles on myopia published between January 1975 and March 2020 were searched through the Web of Science Core Collection database.Two independent authors reviewed and determined the 100 most cited articles.The characteristics of each eligible article were recorded,including authors,institutions,countries,journals,publication date,total citations(TCs),annual citations(ACs),research focus and article type.RESULTS:The top 100 most influential articles were published between 1983 and 2016,with 1999 as the most prolific year.The mean number of TCs was 288(range:193-537)and the mean number of ACs was 19(range:7-109).Treatment and epidemiology of myopia were the most important research focus.These articles were published in 21 journals led by Ophthalmology(29%)followed by Investigative Ophthalmology&Visual Science(23%).The number of ACs for articles published in the last ten years was significantly higher than that for the other most-cited articles(44 vs 16,Mann-Whitney U test P<0.01).There is no difference in the number of TCs between original articles and review articles,while the number of ACs for review articles was significantly higher than that for original articles(22 vs 17,Mann-Whitney U test P<0.05).CONCLUSION:This bibliometric analysis can provide us with concise information about the development trend of research in the field of myopia in the past few decades,and provide an important reference for researchers to guide future research.  相似文献

Purpose: To identify the most published authors on the topics of ‘cataract’ and ‘LASIK’, the journals in which they publish, and the citation patterns of the most‐cited articles by these authors over a 5‐year publication period. Methods: Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI) was used to identify the 30 most‐published authors in ‘cataract’ and ‘laser in situ keratomileusis’ (LASIK) (2000–2004 inclusive). SCI was subsequently used to analyse the recorded articles for each author in terms of source journal, the most commonly cited articles and citation source. Results: Of the 30 most‐published authors in the fields of cataract and LASIK, the USA was the most well‐represented source country, accounting for 33%; 20% were from Australia, and 17% from Austria. Germany and Japan each contributed 7%. Eighty per cent of the publications produced by these 30 authors (2000–2004) were in 10 journals, of which the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (JCRS) published more than one‐third. Of the three most‐cited articles for each author, the greatest number were published in JCRS (35.6%). The citation count of the articles had a weak correlation to the journal impact factor of the source journal; however, the self‐citation rate of these articles did not. Conclusions: The USA and Australia together were the source of more than half of the most‐published authors on cataract and LASIK and the majority of articles published by the 30 most prolific authors were published in only 10 journals. The impact factors of the publication journals preferred by these authors are influenced by the article citation counts, not vice versa.  相似文献

目的:基于BiblioShiny程序分析2011 ─2020 年全球先天性白内障的研究现状与发展趋势,为进一步 的研究提供参考信息。方法:文献计量分析方法。运用基于R语言的科学文献计量BiblioShiny程序, 对2011 ─2020 年Web of ScienceTM核心合集数据库(WoSCC)收录的关于先天性白内障的相关文献, 从期刊、国家与作者分布、共词分析、共被引分析、合作网络等深入分析全球先天性白内障的研究 知识基础和研究前沿热点。结果:①共纳入1 492篇研究文献,以中国和美国发文量最多。②《Molecular Vision》杂志的出版物发表量排名榜首,刊文74 篇,其次是《PLoS One》,刊文66 篇,二者均为美国 期刊。③发文量第1位的是来自加利福尼亚州帕罗奥多市斯坦福大学医学院眼科的Lambert SR博士。 ④先天性白内障领域的知识基础是先天性白内障和基因突变,目前的学术研究热点是基因表达主题。 ⑤研究方向可以分为3大集群:第1集群为先天性白内障的发病率、危险因素和手术治疗等;第2集群 的研究内容主要是分子遗传、基因突变和蛋白质功能改变等;第3集群的研究内容主要集中在晶状体 蛋白的结构、稳定性和功能等。结论:2011 ─2020 年先天性白内障研究领域中,中国和美国为发文 量最多的国家,但是美国在国家间、机构间的合作网络均远大于中国,提示中国可提高国家、机构 间的合作率。目前先天性白内障主流研究方向可分为临床治疗、基因层面和蛋白质层面。  相似文献

目的:分析全球糖尿病视网膜病变治疗方式的研究现状、热点及趋势。方法:检索中国知网(CNKI)和Web of Science核心合集数据库建库至2023-06-15关于糖尿病视网膜病变的相关研究,应用CiteSpace 6.2.R2及VOSviewer软件依次以国家/发文机构、研究作者、关键词等为分析节点进行可视化分析。结果:纳入中文文献5 919篇,英文文献11 475篇。全球发文量位于前3位的国家分别为美国、中国和英国,国外前3位发文机构分别为哈佛医学院、哈佛大学及约翰斯·霍普金斯大学,国内前3位发文机构分别为中国中医科学院眼科分院、湖南中医药大学及中山大学中山眼科中心。中英文高频关键词及爆点关键词的分析结果显示,激光光凝术、玻璃体切除术、中医药疗法、血管内皮生长因子、雷珠单抗等为研究热点。结论:近年糖尿病视网膜病变的研究热点主要以手术、血管保护剂、中医药疗法、抗血管内皮生长因子等为主,研究趋势以抗血管内皮生长因子药物为主。  相似文献

Aims:

To track citation patterns in ophthalmic journals and contrast them with major medical and surgical journals from 1997 to 2009. In addition, we want to familiarize the ophthalmic community with bibliometrics indices.

Materials and Methods:

Data retrieved from Institute for Scientific Information and related websites include 2-year journal impact factor JIF, 5-year impact, Eigenfactor score, H-factor, Article Influence score, and SCImago factor.

Results:

JIF rose steadily around 10% annually in ophthalmic journals, and likewise for major medical and surgical journals. JIF correlated with recent bibliometric indicators like 5-year impact, H index, and SCImago factor but not with Eigenfactor. Ophthalmic journals publishing reviews, basic science, or large volume on broad range of topics ranked at the top for JIF, while subspecialty journals tended to have low JIF. JIF of subspecialty journal Retina rose from 0.740 (rank 23) in 2000 to 3.088 in 2007 (rank 6).

Conclusions:

JIF tends to rise annually by 10% in medical, surgical, and ophthalmic fields. Journals publishing reviews, basic science, or large volume on broad range of topics rank at the top for JIF. The rapid rise of JIF for Retina unlike other subspecialties that stayed status quo is multifactorial: Change in editorial policies (introduction of review articles and omission of case reports) and technological advances in the retinal field.  相似文献

目的统计并分析我国大陆地区1993~2008年发表的被科学文献索引(Science Citation Index,SCI)收录的眼科学论文。方法自MEDLINE上检索我国大陆地区1993年1月1日至2008年12月31日公开发表的被SCI收录的眼科学论文,并统计分析论文总数、年度论文发表数量、年度影响因子总和及平均影响因子、亚学科发表论文数量、学校和医院发表论文数量排名等。结果自MEDLINE上检索到我国大陆地区近16年公开发表的被SCI收录的眼科学论文共计674篇,发表论文数量于2008年达到顶峰(190篇,28.2%),论文所刊登期刊的年度影响因子总分也于同年达峰值(409.2)。16年间,发表论文所刊登期刊的年度平均影响因子无明显改变。此外,发表的论文主要集中在视网膜亚学科方面(187篇,27.7%)。发表论文居首位的学校和医院分别为中山医科大学(207篇,30.7%)和中山医科大学眼科研究所(206篇,30.6%)。结论通过SCI可以间接看到一个国家、学科和院校的科研、临床的水平及发展趋势。近年来,中国大陆地区眼科学者都很重视在SCI收录期刊上发表论文,科技论文数量不断增加,说明我国大陆地区眼科学的科研、临床的能力和水平不断攀升,逐步与国际眼科学的发展接轨。  相似文献

The journal impact factor, calculated annually by Thomson Scientific (Connecticut, USA), is widely used for many functions including the process of academic evaluation. This article reviews the current trend of the impact factor of journals dedicated to ophthalmology. Journals publishing a larger volume of articles on a broad range of topics, such as Archives of Ophthalmology, American Journal of Ophthalmology, and Ophthalmology, rank at the top in this aspect, and the majority of journals from the Europe and Japan have a lower impact factor. It is desirable to keep in mind inherent drawbacks of the journal impact factor and to use it wisely when assessing a person for tenure or grant.  相似文献

自"视觉2020"行动发起已有10a余.尽管中国的文章总量在20强国家中排第五位,但各地区的文章分布尚不清楚.本文比较来自中国三个主要地区:大陆、香港和台湾在这10a内发表在国际期刊上的眼科文章情况.检索2000/2009年的PubMed数据库,分别对文章的数量,影响因子(IF)和顶级杂志发表文章数量进行比较.从2000/2009年,中国发表共计 2 493篇眼科相关文章,其中大陆1 076篇,台湾784篇,香港633篇.三个地区发表的文章数量随时间推移有所增加(从99到491).自2006年开始,大陆发表的文章总数超过了香港及台湾.大陆累计影响因子2 565.108分,高于台湾(1 794.049)和香港(1 544.021),但香港在平均影响因子分值方面最高.通过研究发现,近10a来大陆在SCI期刊发表文章的数量有很大的飞跃,并缩小了与台湾和香港之间的差距.  相似文献
