Persistent primitive hypoglossal artery (PPHA) represents the second most common carotid-vertebrobasilar anastomosis. The
association of PPHA with intracranial aneurysms is not unusual. Treatment of aneurysms located on the PPHA itself is challenging
due to the increased risk of ischemic complications secondary to the hypoglossal artery often being the sole contributor of
flow to the posterior circulation. We report a case of a wide-neck aneurysm in a PPHA successfully treated using a stent-assisted
coil embolization technique. 相似文献

The authors present a rare case of a persistent primitive hypoglossal artery (PHA) variant ending in the posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA) without an interposed segment of the basilar artery and describe briefly the possible embryogenesis of this anomaly. 相似文献

We describe the MR appearance of the persistent hypoglossal artery incidentally found in a case of known glioblastoma multiforme. On the spin-echo images, an abnormal tubular structure of low intensity penetrating the hypoglossal canal was recognized. MR angiography showed its vascular nature and the anomalous vessel connecting the internal carotid and basilar arteries. 相似文献

Enlargement of the hypoglossal canal with preservation of its cortical margin is described as a normal variant when a persistent hypoglossal artery is present. 相似文献

We report three patients with persistent trigeminal arteries, in all of whom the proximal basilar artery was hypoplastic. We draw attention to this common observation, which should not be mistaken for acquired narrowing. 相似文献

The persistent hypoglossal artery is a rare perseverance of an embryonic vessel connecting the anterior and posterior circulations and is generally considered to be an incidental finding. This is a case of a patient with an atherosclerotic narrowing at the origin of the persistent hypoglossal artery seen at 3D CT angiography. The pertinent findings and clinical implications of this anomalous vessel are discussed. 相似文献

Summary Primitive caroticobasilar anastomoses are uncommon embryonic arterial connections between the carotid (anterior) and vertebrobasilar (posterior) circulations. With the exception of extracranial proatlantal intersegmental arteries, these embryonic arterial anastomoses are named according to the cranial nerves which they parallel. In this report, a previously undescribed variant circle of Willis with supraclinoid caroticobasilar anastomosis, functionally equivalent to a fetal type primitive trigeminal artery, is presented. 相似文献

Persistence of foetal anastomoses between carotid and vertebrobasilar arteries is well recognised, but their bilateral presence is rare. We report a case of bilateral persistent hypoglossal arteries. Absence of bilateral vertebral arteries was incidentally noted on neck ultrasound examination. Subsequent MRI confirmed this and revealed persistent hypoglossal arteries that arose bilaterally from the cervical internal carotid artery, entered the cranium through the hypoglossal canal and joined the lower portion of the basilar artery. 相似文献

Absence of the common carotid artery in a patient with a persistent trigeminal artery variant 总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
We found the present case when retrospectively reviewing the files of patients with intracranial aneurysm in our institution. It concerns the coexistence of a rare developmental anomaly of the aortic arch vessels and a persistent carotid-vertebrobasilar communication variant. Since no common embryologic basis is known, this association was probably fortuitous. Each of these particular anomalies can pose unique diagnostic and therapeutic difficulties.
