A novel powder wire mesh composite porous plate (PWMCPP) was fabricated with 304 stainless steel powders and wire mesh as raw materials by vacuum solid-state sintering process using self-developed composite rolling mill of powder and wire mesh. The effects of different mesh volume fractions, mesh diameters, and sintering temperatures on the pore structure and Charpy impact properties of PWMCPPs were studied. The results show that PWMCPPs have different shapes and sizes of micropores. Impact toughness of PWMCPPs decreases with increasing wire mesh volume fraction, and increases first and then decreases with increasing wire mesh diameter, and increases with increasing sintering temperature. Among them, the sintering temperature has the most obvious effect on the impact toughness of PWMCPPs, when the sintering temperature increased from 1160 °C to 1360 °C, the impact toughness increased from 39.54 J/cm2 to 72.95 J/cm2, with an increased ratio of 84.5%. The tearing between layers, the fracture of the metallurgical junction, and the fracture of wire mesh are the main mechanisms of impact fractures of the novel PWMCPPs.  相似文献

The steel–plastic compound geogrid has been widely used as a new reinforcement material in geotechnical engineering and other fields. Therefore, it is essential to fully understand the mechanical properties of steel–plastic compound geogrid-reinforced belts to utilize steel–plastic compound geogrids efficiently. In this study, tensile mechanical tests of steel wire, polyethylene geogrid belt, and steel–plastic compound geogrid-reinforced belt were conducted with respect to the tensile mechanical properties of steel–plastic compound geogrid-reinforced belts. In addition, the minimum reinforcement and optimal reinforcement ratios of steel–plastic compound geogrid-reinforced belts were summarized. The results showed that the steel–plastic compound geogrid-reinforced belts possessed an incongruent force of the internal steel wire during the tensile process. The tensile stress–strain curve of the steel–plastic compound geogrid-reinforced belt can be divided into the composite adjustment, steel wire breaking, and residual deformation stages. The tensile strength of the steel–plastic compound geogrid-reinforced belt is proportional to the diameter and number of steel wires in the reinforced belt. The minimum and optimum reinforcement ratios of steel wire in the steel–plastic compound geogrid-reinforced belt were 0.63% and 11.92%, respectively.  相似文献

Samples of skin, tendons, muscles, and knitwear composed of NiTi wire are studied by uniaxial cyclic tension and stretching to rupture. The metal knitted mesh behaves similar to a superelastic material when stretched, similar to soft biological tissues. The superelasticity effect was found in NiTi wire, but not in the mesh composed of it. A softening effect similar to biological tissues is observed during the cyclic stretching of the mesh. The mechanical behavior of the NiTi mesh is similar to the biomechanical behavior of biological tissues. The discovered superelastic effects allow developing criteria for the selection and evaluation of mesh materials composed of titanium nickelide for soft tissue reconstructive surgery.  相似文献

A self-developed rotary multi-cutter device cuts stainless steel wire ropes into segments to fabricate twisted wires. Stainless steel porous twisted wire materials (PTWMs) with a spatial composite intertexture structure are produced by the compaction and subsequent vacuum solid-phase sintering of twisted wires. The stainless steel PTWMs show two types of typical uniaxial tensile failure modes, i.e., a 45° angle fracture mode and an auxetic failure mode (the PTWMs expand along the direction perpendicular to the tension). The effects of the sintering parameters, porosities, wire diameters, and sampling direction on the tensile properties of the PTWMs are carefully investigated. By increasing the sintering temperature from 1130 °C to 1330 °C, the tensile strength of the PTWMs with 70% target porosity increased from 7.7 MPa to 28.6 MPa and the total failure goes down to 50%. When increasing the sintering time from 90 min to 150 min, the tensile strength increases from 12.4 MPa to 19.1 MPa and the total failure elongation drops to 78.6%. The tensile strength of the PTWMs increases from 28.9 MPa to 112.7 MPa with decreasing porosity from 69.5% to 46.0%, and the total failure elongation also increases from 14.8% to 40.7%. The tensile strength and the failure strain of the PTWMs with fine wires are higher than those of the PTWMs with coarse wires under the same porosity. Sampling direction has a small influence on the tensile properties of the PTWMs.  相似文献

The engineering behaviour of ballast is an important factor to determine the stability and safety of railway tracks. This paper examines the stress–strain, shear strength, peak deflection stress and reinforcement strength ratio of different reinforcement materials and reinforcement locations in ballast track bed layers based on large scale static triaxial shear tests. The results show that geogrid and waste tyre reinforcement have a significant effect on the peak deviator stress of railway track bed layers and the stress–strain relationship is strain-hardened. The peak deviator stress and shear strength of geogrid reinforcement are greater under the same conditions compared with waste tyres. The reinforcement of geogrid and waste tires increases the shear strength of the track bed significantly. The more layers of geogrid reinforcement, the more energy is required for the deformation of the track bed. The energy required for deformation is greater in the centre of the waste tyre than in the other reinforced forms, and the energy required for deformation is minimal in the fully reinforced form. Excessive tyre reinforcement changes the stiffness of the track bed layer, leading to an increase in the settlement rate. The reinforcement strength ratio between geogrid and waste tyre increases significantly with the increasing of the confining pressure and reinforcement layers. Moreover, the reinforcement strength ratio of the geogrid is significantly higher than that of the waste tyre.  相似文献

Copper-sheathed steel wires combine the conductivity of copper and the traction resistance of steel, which makes a bimetallic wire an ideal material for the construction of power lines. Currently, there is a small number of studies devoted to the change in the microstructure of steel-copper wire during its strain. Since steel and copper have different mechanical properties, these metals at the interface can be deformed in different ways. Therefore, the present research is devoted to the study of ECAP-drawing process impacts on the properties of bimetallic steel-copper wire. During the conducted studies, the possibility and efficiency of using the combined strain technology for the formation of ultrafine grained structure and increased strength properties of steel-copper wire have been proved.  相似文献

In recent decades, lightweight aggregate concrete (LWC) became a popular building material due to its desired properties. However, various attributes of LWC, such as bond behavior of used reinforcing, have not been described thoroughly. In this regard, LWC produced with 0%, 50%, and 100% expanded clay aggregate was designed, and the physical–mechanical properties were assessed for material characterization. Subsequently, the bond behaviors of LWC reinforced with steel, glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP), and basalt fiber reinforced polymer (BFRP) bars were evaluated by pull-out tests. The results of the experimental program allowed the effects of expanded clay aggregate incorporation on LWC properties to be quantified. The bond strength of BFRP bars was not affected by the replacement of coarse aggregate by expanded clay aggregate, whilst the GFRP bars showed lower bond strength values of LWC specimens. Contrarily, in the case of steel bars, both the bond strength and bond stiffness were higher for LWC specimens than for those of normal concrete. Finite element software ATENA 3D was used for simulation of the bond behavior of LWC, and the model validated by the experimental results referred to reasonably corresponding outputs.  相似文献

Concrete is the most widely used and most affordable construction material. The structural damage that concrete cracks and fractures may cause can be severe. These concerns have lately been alleviated by new developments in fibre concretes. Recent advancements in fibrous concrete and its evolution have been rapidly drawing researchers’ attentions worldwide, which motivates the development of a new type of composite with superior impact resistance. Preplaced aggregate fibrous concrete (PAFC) is a revolutionary composite comprising a higher dosage of fibres. It has outstanding impact resistance that surpasses those of traditional fibrous concrete. The impact behaviour of PAFC in addition to glass fibre mesh (GFM) has not been investigated thoroughly. To fill this research gap, this study investigates the impact performance of three-layered PAFC comprising steel fibres and GFM insertion. Eight different mixtures were prepared and can be divided into two groups. In the first group, specimens were made with 4% fibres and two single, double and triple layers of GFM insertion between the three-layered concrete. The second group of specimens was reinforced with 5, 2 and 5% steel fibres at the top, middle and bottom layers, respectively. However, the GFM insertion scheme for the second group was the same as the first. Rectangular specimens of size 500 × 100 × 100 mm were cast and tested against drop weight impact. The parameters studied were cracking impact numbers, failure impact number, ductility index and failure patterns. In addition, an analytical model was used to evaluate the impact failure energies. Results indicate that the combined action of steel fibre and GFM exhibited an excellent impact resistance. Increasing the number of GFM insertions between the specimen layer led to increased impact strength. The dose of the fibres utilized in the outer layer of the PAFC was increased, resulting in the material having a higher impact resistance. The cracking impact numbers improved from 28 to 40%, and failure impact numbers ranged from 58.8 to 92.2% when the GFM insertion numbers increased from one to three.  相似文献

FRP bars and steel strands are widely used in civil engineering. In this study, three different types of high-strength reinforcement materials, carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) bar, glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) bar, and steel strand, were investigated for their interfacial bond performance with concrete. A total of 90 sets of specimens were conducted to analyze the effects of various parameters such as the diameter of reinforcement, bond length, the grade of concrete and stirrup on the bond strength and residual bond strength. The results show that CFRP bars possess a higher bond strength retention rate than steel bars in the residual section. In addition, with the increase in bond length and diameter of the CFRP bar, the residual bond strength decreases, and the bond strength retention rate decreases. Furthermore, the bond strength retention rate of GFRP bars was found to be higher than that of CFRP bars. With the increase in grade of concrete, the bond strength and residual bond strength between GFRP bars and concrete increases, but the bond strength retention rate decreases. With an increase in bond length and diameter of the GFRP bar, the bond strength starts to decrease. Further, stirrup can also increase the bond strength and reduce the slip at the free end of GFRP bars. Moreover, the bond strength retention rate of the steel strand was found to be lower than CFRP and GFRP bar.  相似文献

The different behaviors of the mechanical properties of drawn and caliber-rolled wires with applied strain were investigated to determine the appropriate process between wire drawing and caliber rolling with consideration of materials and process conditions. Ferritic, pearlitic, and TWIP steels were drawn and caliber-rolled under the same process conditions. Caliber-rolled wires exhibited a hardening behavior in the early deformation stage and softening behavior in the later deformation stage compared with the drawn wires, regardless of the steel. The hardening behavior of the caliber-rolled wires was explained by the higher strain induced by caliber rolling compared with wire drawing, especially the higher amount of redundant work in caliber-rolled wire. The caliber-rolled wire had approximately 36% higher strain than the drawn wire and approximately 85% higher strain than nominal strain. The softening behavior of the caliber-rolled wire in later deformation stages was related to the Bauschinger effect or low-cycle fatigue effect caused by the roll geometries and loading conditions during caliber rolling. The different intersection points of the tensile strength between drawn and caliber-rolled wires with the steels were attributed to the different strain hardening rates of each steel. Between the options of the caliber rolling and wire drawing processes, the appropriate process should be selected according to the strain hardening rate of the material and the amount of plastic deformation. For instance, when the wires need to deform at high levels, wire drawing is the better process because of the appearance of the Bauschinger effect in caliber-rolled wire.  相似文献

The proposed paper considers the opportunity of expanding the application area of wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) method by means of increasing the strength properties of deposited material, due to the implementation of aluminum wire with the addition of scandium and zirconium. For the experimental research, the welding wire 1575 of the Al-Mg-Sc-Zr system containing 0.23% Sc and 0.19% Zr was selected. The optimal welding parameters, ensuring the defect-free formation of deposited material with low heat input, were used. Porosity level was estimated. The thermal state was estimated by finite element simulation. Simulated thermal state was verified by comparison with thermocouples data. Post-heat treatment parameters that lead to maximum strength with good plasticity were determined. The maximum yield strength (YS) of 268 MPa and ultimate strength (UTS) of 403 MPa were obtained, while the plasticity was determined at least 16.0% in all WAAM specimens.  相似文献

Ferrocement panels, while offering various benefits, do not cover instances of low and moderated velocity impact. To address this problem and to enhance the impact strength against low-velocity impact, a fibrous ferrocement panel is proposed and investigated. This study aims to assess the flexural and low-velocity impact response of simply supported ferrocement panels reinforced with expanded wire mesh (EWM) and steel fibers. The experimental program covered 12 different ferrocement panel prototypes and was tested against a three-point flexural load and falling mass impact test. The ferrocement panel system comprises mortar reinforced with 1% and 2% dosage of steel fibers and an EWM arranged in 1, 2, and 3 layers. For mortar preparation, a water-cement (w/c) ratio of 0.4 was maintained and all panels were cured in water for 28 days. The primary endpoints of the investigation are first crack and ultimate load capacity, deflection corresponding to first crack and ultimate load, ductility index, flexural strength, crack width at ultimate load, a number of impacts needed to induce crack commencement and failure, ductility ratio, and failure mode. The finding revealed that the three-layers of EWM inclusion and steel fibers resulted in an additional impact resistance improvement at cracking and failure stages of ferrocement panels. With superior ultimate load capacity, flexural strength, crack resistance, impact resistance, and ductile response, as witnessed in the experiment program, ferrocement panel can be a positive choice for many construction applications subjected to repeated low-velocity impacts.  相似文献

This study focuses on the effect of the amount of silica fume addition and volume fraction of steel fiber on the engineering properties of cementitious materials. Test variables include dosage of silica fume (5% and 10%), water/cement ratio (0.35 and 0.55) and steel fiber dosage (0.5%, 1.0% and 2.0%). The experimental results included: compressive strength, direct tensile strength, splitting tensile strength, surface abrasion and drop-weight test, which were collected to carry out the analysis of variance to realize the relevancy and significance between material parameters and those mechanical properties. Test results illustrate that the splitting tensile strength, direct tensile strength, strain capacity and ability of crack-arresting increase with increasing steel fiber and silica fume dosages, as well as the optimum mixture of the fiber cementitious materials is 5% replacement silica fume and 2% fiber dosage. In addition, the Pearson correlation coefficient was conducted to evaluate the influence of the material variables and corresponds to the experiment result.  相似文献

Mesh erosion is a phenomenon whereby soft tissue becomes damaged as a result of contact with implants made from surgical mesh, a fabric-like material consisting of fibers of polypropylene or other polymers. This paper describes the design and construction of a testing machine to generate mesh erosion in vitro. A sample of mesh in the form of a 10 mm wide tape is pressed against soft tissue (porcine muscle) with a given force, and a given reciprocating movement is applied between the mesh and the tissue. To demonstrate the capabilities of the equipment, we measured erosion using the same mesh and tissue type, varying the applied force and the reciprocating stroke length, including zero strokes (i.e., static loading). For comparison, we also tested four other samples of polypropylene with different edge characteristics. Analysis of the results suggests the existence of three different erosion mechanisms: cutting, wear and creep. It is concluded that the equipment provides a useful and realistic simulation of mesh erosion, a phenomenon that is of great clinical significance and merits further study.  相似文献

A tool steel type SKD11 punch was plasma carburized at 673 K for 14.4 ks at 70 Pa to make carbon supersaturation. This carburized SKD11 punch was employed for upsetting the pure titanium wire with the diameter of 1.00 mm up to the reduction of thickness by 70% in a single shot. Its contact interface to titanium work was analyzed to describe the anti-galling behavior in this forging. Little trace of titanium proved that the galling process was suppressed by the in situ solid lubrication. The isolated free carbon agglomerates are wrought as a solid lubricant to sustain the galling-free forging process. This anti-galling upsetting reduced the residual strains in the forged wires. A long titanium wire with a length of 45 mm was incrementally upset to yield the titanium ribbon with a thickness of 0.3 mm, the width of 2.3 mm, and the length of 50 mm. The grain size of original pure titanium was much reduced to 2 μm on average. A micro-pillared microtexture was imprinted onto this forged titanium ribbon.  相似文献

Reinforcement corrosion poses a great threat to the safety of reinforced concrete structures, and the fiber-reinforced polymer is the ideal material to partially replace steel bars due to the high strength, light weight and good durability. However, the selection of appropriate fiber materials and a reasonable ratio of fiber bar to steel bar is not clear. Here, we measured the mechanical properties of fiber bars containing aramid fiber and carbon fiber. The deflection deformation, crack distribution and maximum crack width of the concrete upon various loads were experimentally and theoretically investigated. The predictions of the maximum crack width and deflection of reinforced concrete beams under various loads were proposed in ACI standard, which may provide guidance for further applications of fiber-belt-bar-containing concrete beams.  相似文献

In order to promote the application of steel slag in road engineering, improve its utilization rate and solve the environmental problems caused by its large accumulation, unconfined compressive strength (UCS) test, indirect tensile strength (ITS) test, freeze-thaw cycle test, dry shrinkage and temperature shrinkage test tests with different steel slag contents were carried out. And the strength formation mechanism of steel slag in base material was revealed by SEM. The results show that the strength of the mixture initially increased and then decreased with increasing steel slag content. The frost resistance increased with increasing steel slag content, which should be limited to no more than 75%. Increasing the steel slag content improved the drying shrinkage resistance but was not conducive to the temperature shrinkage resistance. Microscopic analysis shows that adding a suitable amount of steel slag generated a gel material that was distributed inside the pores. This increased the density of the hardened slurry structure, which improved the strength. The research can provide scientific basis for the application and promotion of steel slag in road base.  相似文献

Although carbon textile reinforcement widely used to replace the steel reinforcing bars but the bonding strength of carbon textile is generally much smaller than that of common steel bars. This study examines the strengthening effect of concrete slab-type elements strengthened in flexure by carbon textile reinforcement according to the surface coating of textile and the amount of reinforcement. The effect of the surface coating of textile on the bond strength was evaluated through a direct pullout test with four different sizes of coating material. The surface coated specimens developed bond strength approximately twice that of the uncoated specimen. The flexural strengthening effect with respect to the amount of reinforcement was investigated by a series of flexural failure tests on full-scale reinforced concrete (RC) slab specimens strengthened by textile reinforced concrete (TRC) system. The flexural failure test results revealed that the TRC system-strengthened specimens develop load-carrying capacity that is improved to at least 150% compared to the non-strengthened specimen. The strengthening performance was not significantly influenced by the textile coating and was not proportional to the amount of reinforcement when this amount was increased, owing to the change in the failure mode. The outstanding constructability afforded by TRC strengthening was verified through field applications executing TRC strengthening by shotcreting on a concrete box culvert.  相似文献
