Introduction: MicroRNA-124 (miR-124) has been proven dysregulated in several human malignancies and correlated with tumor progression. However, its expression and clinical significance in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is still unclear. Thus, the aim of this study was to investigate the clinical significance of miR-124 expression in NSCLC. Methods: Expression levels of miR-124 in 92 pairs of NSCLC and adjacent non-tumor tissues were detected by quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR). In order to determine its prognostic value, overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) were evaluated using the Kaplan-Meier method, and multivariate analysis was performed using the Cox proportional hazard analysis. Results: miR-124 expression level was significantly lower in NSCLC tissues compared with adjacent non-tumor tissues (P < 0.05). The 5-year OS of low miR-124 expression group was significantly shorter than that of high miR-124 expression group (P < 0.05). Moreover, the 5-year DFS of low miR-124 expression group was also significantly shorter than that of high miR-124 expression group (P < 0.05). In a multivariate Cox model, we found that miR-124 expression was an independent prognostic factor for both 5-year OS and 5-year DFS in NSCLC (P < 0.05). Conclusions: Our results offer the convincing evidence that miR-124 may play key roles in the progression of lung cancer and that the down-regulated expression of miR-124 may be independently associated with shorter OS and DFS of patients, suggesting that miR-124 might be a potential marker for further risk stratification in the treatment of lung cancer.  相似文献

Purpose: We aimed to determine if lactate dehydrogenase to albumin ratio (LAR) might play a prognostic role for patients with operable colorectal cancer (CRC).Patients and Methods: 1334 operable CRC patients in Wuhan Union Hospital Between July 2013 and September 2017 were enrolled in this study and were randomly appointed them into training (n=954) and validation (n=380) sets. The relationship between LAR and overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) were determined by restricted cubic splines (RCS) with Cox regression models. LAR was then divided into three categories based on the RCS and compared to the well-known TNM stage system. Finally, survival nomograms were developed by compounding the LAR and other clinical factors. Results: Baseline LAR values and the all-cause mortality were U shaped, which slowly decreased until around 4.50 and then started to increase rapidly when the LAR ranged from 4.50-6.68 and then became flat thereafter (P for non-linearity <0.001). LAR was superior to TNM stage for OS as well as DFS and LAR plus TNM stage could add more net benefit than clinical model alone. Moreover, the survival nomograms based on LAR achieved great predictive ability for OS and DFS in operable CRC patients. Conclusions: LAR could be served as a reliable prognostic factor for OS as well as DFS, with more accurate prognostic prediction than current TNM stage for patients with operable CRC.  相似文献

Background: Clinical characteristics and prognosis among combined hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and cholangiocarcinoma (cHCC-CC) with HCC and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) were inconsistent in previous studies. The aim of this study was to compare postoperative prognosis among cHCC-CC, HCC and ICC, and investigated the prognostic risk factor of cHCC-CC after surgical resection. Methods: A total of 1041 eligible patients with pathological diagnosis of cHCC-CC (n=135), HCC (n=698) and ICC (n=208) were enrolled in this study. Univariate and multivariate Cox analysis were applied for assessing important risk factors. cHCC-CC were further 1:1 matched with HCC and ICC on important clinical risk factors. Survival curves of matched and unmatched cohorts were depicted by Kaplan-Meier method with log-rank test. Results: Patients with cHCC-CC had similar rate of sex, age and cirrhosis with HCC (p<0.05) and comparable incidence of hepatitis B or C with ICC (p=0.197). Patients of cHCC-CC had intermediate prognosis between HCC and ICC, with median overall survival (OS) time of cHCC-CC, HCC and ICC of 20.5 months, 35.7 months and 11.6 months (p<0.001). In matched cohorts, the OS of cHCC-CC were worse than HCC (p<0.001) but comparable with ICC (p=0.06), while the disease-free survival (DFS) of cHCC-CC was worse than HCC but better than ICC (p<0.05). And lymph node infiltration and postoperative transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) were independent risk factors of cHCC-CC associated with prognosis. Conclusion: The long term survival of cHCC-CC was worse than HCC but comparable with ICC when matched on albumin level, tumor size, lymph node infiltration, tumor stage and margin. Presence of lymph node infiltration and no postoperative TACE were associated with poor prognosis of cHCC-CC.  相似文献

Background: MiRNAs are pivotal regulators involved in proliferation, apoptosis, invasion, metastasis, epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), angiogenesis, drug resistance and autophagy in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of miR-139-5p and its target genes on the outcomes of HCC.Methods: Survival analysis of miR-139-5p in HCC was conducted in Kaplan-Meier plotter. Target genes of miR-139-5p were identified in TargetScan, miRTarBase and starBase. Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) series were used for the validation of miR-139-5p target genes. Cox proportional regression model was also established. Results: In Kaplan-Meier plotter, 163 HCC patients were included. MiR-139-5p downregulation was significantly associated with unfavorable overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) in HCC patients (all P < 0.001). MiR-139-5p was significantly downregulated in HCC tumors and human hepatoma cell lines (all P < 0.05). As a target gene of miR-139-5p, CCT5 was overexpressed in HCC tumor tissues and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (all P < 0.05). A negative correlation between CCT5 and miR-139-5p was found in TCGA dataset. CCT5 overexpression was significantly associated with worse OS in HCC patients (P < 0.001), which was validated in the GSE14520 dataset (P = 0.017). CCT5 mRNA was significantly overexpressed in HCC patients with alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) > 300 ng/ml, BCLC staging B-C, TNM staging III and main tumor size > 5 cm (all P < 0.05). According to the Cox regression model of CCT5-interacting genes, HCC patients with high risk had poor OS compared to those with low risk in the TCGA dataset (P < 0.001), with the 1-year, 3-year, and 5-year ROC curves of an area under the curve (AUC) equal to 0.704, 0.662, and 0.631, respectively. Conclusions: MiR-139-5p suppresses HCC tumor aggression and conversely correlated with CCT5. The miR-139-5p/CCT5 axis might perform crucial functions in the development of HCC.  相似文献

Golgi phosphoprotein3 (GOLPH3) is known as an oncoprotein and may be a prognostic biomarker in various tumors. Here we performed a meta-analysis on the association of GOLPH3 expression and survival in solid tumors. All eligible studies were identified in Embase, PubMed and Web of Science Databases up to November 2014. Data about overall survival (OS), and disease-free survival (DFS) were extracted and pooled hazard ratios (HRs) of GOLPH3 for survival were calculated by using a random-effect model. Heterogeneity and publication bias were also assessed. A total of 15 eligible studies which comprised of 2529 cases were included in this global analysis: 14 were dealing with overall survival (OS) and 6 were with disease-free survival (DFS). We found that GOLPH3 overexpression was associated with shorter OS (HR 2.487, 95% CI 1.897-3.258, P < 0.001) and DFS (HR 1.911, 95% CI 1.245-2.932, P = 0.003) in general carcinomas. Importantly, subgroup analysis suggested that overexpression of GOLPH3 correlated with shorter OS in urogenital system cancers (HR 4.258, 95% CI 1.81-4.91, P < 0.001). Moreover, publication bias was not significant (P > 0.05). In conclusion, the present meta-analysis showed that overexpression of GOLPH3 predicts poor prognosis in solid tumors.  相似文献

Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare survival outcomes of open radical hysterectomy and minimally invasive radical hysterectomy (MIS) in early stage cervical cancer. Methods: A retrospective analysis of 148 patients with stage IB1 - IIA2 cervical cancer who underwent either minimally invasive or open radical hysterectomy. Tumor characteristics, recurrence rate, disease-free survival (DFS), and overall survival (OS) were compared according to surgical approach. Results: In total, 110 and 38 patients were assigned to open surgery and MIS groups. After a medical follow-up of 42.1 months, the groups showed similar survival outcomes (recurrence rate, DFS, and OS). However, in patients with tumor size >2 cm, recurrence rate was significantly higher in MIS group (22.5% vs 0%; p=0.008). And in patients with tumor size >2 cm, MIS group showed significantly poorer DFS than open surgery group (p=0.017), although OS was similar between the two groups (p=0.252).Conclusion: In patients with tumor size >2 cm, MIS was associated with higher recurrence rates and poorer DFS than open surgery. However, in patients with tumor size ≤2 cm, MIS did not seem to compromise oncologic outcomes.  相似文献

Purpose: To investigate the correlation among p300, CBP and MLL expression and the clinicopathological characteristics in resected SCLC patients. Methods: Two hundred and twenty-two resected SCLC patients were included in this study. We evaluated p300, CBP and MLL expression by immunohistochemistry. Results: Patients with high p300 expression had shorter OS and DFS than those with low p300 expression (p = 0.01; p = 0.009, respectively). The patients with CBP-positive tumors had significantly lower OS and DFS than those with CBP-negative tumors (p = 0.005 and p = 0.007, respectively). Moreover, the p300- and CBP-positive (+) group had a significantly poor OS and DFS. The multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that high p300 and CBP expression are independent markers of poor overall survival (p = 0.006; p = 0.017, respectively) in operable SCLC patients. Conclusions: High p300 and CBP expression are independent prognostic markers of poor overall survival for resected SCLC patients. The combination of p300 and CBP expression may be useful in identifying patients with increased risks of cancer recurrence of SCLC.  相似文献

Background: An increasing number of studies had shown that tertiary lymphoid structure (TLS) plays an important role in tumor progression. However, the prognostic role of TLS in various tumors remains controversial. This meta-analysis aims to investigate the clinicopathological and prognostic values of TLS in solid tumors. Methods: A systematic search was conducted in PubMed, EMBASE and Cochrane Library undated to November 2, 2020. Odds ratios of clinical parameters, hazard ratio (HR) of overall survival (OS), relapse-free survival (RFS), disease-free survival (DFS) and relapse rate were calculated in order to evaluate the relationship between TLS expression and clinicopathological or prognostic values in different tumors.Result: 27 eligible studies including 6647 patients with different types of tumors were analyzed. High TLS expression was associated with a longer OS (HR = 0.66, 95% CI: 0.50 - 0.86, P = 0.002) and RFS (HR = 0.61, 95% CI: 0.47 - 0.79, P = 0.0001). Moreover, high TLS levels in tumor were associated with a low risk of recurrence (HR = 0.43, 95% CI: 0.32 - 0.57, P < 0.0001). However, there was no relationship between TLS expression and DFS. Meanwhile, high TLS expression was associated with smaller tumor size (P < 0.00001) and higher tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs). Furthermore, the subgroup analysis showed high TLS expression that may be associated with a lower clinical grading and N stage in breast cancer and colorectal cancer. Conclusion: High TLS expression is associated with the longer OS and RFS in solid tumors, and a lower risk of cancer relapse. Meanwhile, high TLS expression is also associated with a smaller tumor size, higher infiltration of TILs, lower clinical grading and N stage in the tumor. Therefore, high TLS expression in the tumor is a favorable prognostic biomarker for solid tumor patients.  相似文献

Objectives: Despite considerable interest in the Nuclear factor-erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2)/Kelch-like ECH-associated protein-1 (Keap1), p16 and epithelial cadherin (E-cadherin) activation in carcinoma progression, contradictory results regarding association of Nrf2/Keap1/E-cadherin and p16 expression with clinico-pathological features and prognosis have been reported. The predictive value of these markers in ovarian carcinoma is unknown. Methods/Materials: In this retrospective study, 108 cases were evaluated immunohistochemically with antibodies to Nrf2, Keap1, estrogen receptor (ER), p16 and E-cadherin. The results were compared with histological and clinical data, disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS). Results: A cohort of 108 ovarian carcinomas (47 serous, 23 mucinous, 13 endometrioid and 25 clear cell), including 68 FIGO stage I-II cases and 40 FIGO stage III-IV cases was studied. The age of patients (P=0.005), FIGO stage (P<0.001), immunohistochemical expression of Keap1 (P<0.000), E-cadherin (P=0.045), p53 (P=0.003), p16 (P<0.001) and ER (P=0.004) were significant factors between different histological subtypes. Patients with serous carcinoma were older in age, presented with more advanced stage disease, worst prognosis, highest Keap1 expression and least percentage of E-cadherin immunoreactivity. In univariate analysis, FIGO staging (P=0.000 for DFS; P=0.000 for OS), Nrf2 (P=0.010 for DFS; P=0.001 for OS), and p16 (P=0.004 for DFS; P=0.019 for OS) were associated with worse prognosis. After multivariate analysis, FIGO staging and Nrf2 remained significance prognostic factors. Conclusions: There were differences in the expression of Nrf2, Keap1, p16 and E-cadherin between different ovarian carcinoma subtypes. In multivariate analysis, FIGO stage and Nrf2 expression were associated with poorer DFS and OS.  相似文献

We investigated the effect of clinical features and well-known histomorphological parameters on survival of breast cancer. Material and methods: 44 patients with invasive ductal carcinoma were included in this study. We investigated the effect of age, breast cancer location (right/left), histological grade, largest diameter of the tumor, lymphovascular and perineural invasion on patient survival. IBM SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) 20 program was used for statistics. Cox proportional hazard regression model for survival analysis, log-log plot, life function graphs were used. Results were 95% confidence interval, significance (P < 0.05). Results: In univariate analysis, the left breast localization, high histological grade, large tumor size, lymphovascular invasion, perineural invasion has been shown that reduced the overall survival (P < 0.05). In multivariate analysis, only high histological grade, large tumor size and perineural invasion were identified as parameters negatively associated with patient survival (P < 0.05). On univariate and multivariate analysis, age was not associated with survival. Conclusion: The above results should be considered in the follow-up and treatment planning of invasive ductal carcinoma patients.  相似文献

Aberrant expression of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-2 and tissue factor pathway inhibitor (TFPI)-2 not only correlate with tumorigenesis, but also with tumor invasion and metastasis. This study aims to investigate the correlation and prognostic significance of MMP-2 and TFPI-2 differential expression in pancreatic carcinoma. Immunohistochemistry was used to evaluate MMP-2 and TFPI-2 expression in tumor tissues and corresponding non-tumor tissues from 122 patients with pancreatic carcinoma. The results showed that the expression of MMP-2 was significantly (P < 0.05) higher in tumor tissues (78.7%) than in adjacent non-tumor tissues (27.9%), whereas the expression of TFPI-2 was significantly (P < 0.001) lower in tumor tissues (27.9%) than in adjacent non-tumor tissues (79.5%). Spearman’s rank correlation test showed a negative correlation between MMP-2 and TFPI-2 expression (r = -0.346, P < 0.001). Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed that high MMP-2 expression was significantly correlated with decreased disease-free survival (DFS) (P < 0.001) and overall survival (OS) (P < 0.001), while high TFPI-2 expression was significantly associated with increased DFS (P < 0.001) and OS (P < 0.001) of the patients. Multivariate analysis showed that high MMP-2 expression can act as an independent predictive factor for poor DFS (P = 0.01); and low TFPI-2 expression as an independent prognostic factor for poor DFS (P < 0.001) and OS (P < 0.001). In conclusion, our findings suggested that the differential expression of MMP-2 and TFPI-2 have a negative correlation in pancreatic carcinoma tissues; they may be considered as valuable biomarkers for prognosis of pancreatic carcinoma.  相似文献

Background/aimThe aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of Controlling Nutritional Status (CONUT) score on the prognosis in patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). Materials and methods The present study was a retrospective study. The CONUT score was calculated based on serum albumin, total cholesterol and lymphocyte levels. This study included a total of 266 patients, 131 (49.2%) were female and 135 (50.8%) were male. The median follow-up period was 51 months (range: 1–190).Results The median age was 64 years. The cut off CONUT was 1.5. There was a significant difference between patients with high (≥ 2) or low (< 2) CONUT scores in terms of overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS). The 5-year OS and PFS in patients with high CONUT score was 52.1% and 49.7%. The 5-year OS and PFS in patients with low CONUT score was 79.8% and 75.6% (p < 0.001). In the multivariate analysis for OS, age ≥ 65 years (HR = 1.80, p = 0.028), Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) > 1 (HR = 2.04, p = 0.006), stage IIIA–IVB disease (HR = 2.75, p = 0.001) and the CONUT score (HR = 1.15, p = 0.003) were found statistically significant. In the multivariate analysis for PFS, age ≥ 65 years (HR = 2.02, p = 0.007), stage IIIA–IVB disease (HR = 2.42, p = 0.002) and the CONUT score (HR = 1.19, p = 0.001) were found to be significant parameters. ConclusionHigh CONUT score reduces OS and PFS in DLBCL. CONUT score is an independent, strong prognostic index in patients with DLBCL.  相似文献

Previous studies have shown that chemokine receptor CXCR7 plays critical roles in tumor development. However, the clinicopathological and prognositic significance of CXCR7 in colorectal carcinoma (CRC) has not been fully understood. The aim of our study is to investigate the expression of CXCR7 and its clinical significance in CRC. First, quantitative RT-PCR and Western blot assays were performed to determine the expression of CXCR7 mRNA and protein in 20 paired of CRC tissues and corresponding adjacent non-tumor tissues. Next, immunohistochemistry was performed to detect the expression of CXCR7 protein in another 96 cases of CRC tissues, and analyze its correlation with clinicopathological factors of patients. Finally, the correlation of CXCR7 with 5-year overall survival (OS) and progression free survival (PFS) was statistically analyzed by the Kaplan-Meier method and Cox proportional hazards model. Results showed that the expression levels of CXCR7 mRNA and protein were significantly higher in CRC tissues than in normal tissues. Positive CXCR7 expression was observed to be significantly correlated with lymph nodal metastasis (P < 0.001), distant metastasis (P = 0.017), and advanced TNM stage (P < 0.001). Patients with positive expression of CXCR7 were demonstrated to be associated with worse OS and PFS (P < 0.001, P < 0.001, respectively). Moreover, multivariate survival analysis revealed that CXCR7 expression level might be an independent predictive factor for OS and PFS of CRC patients. Collectively, positive CXCR7 expression in CRC was correlated with tumor development and poor prognosis of patients.  相似文献

Introduction

To establish risk factors for onset and progression of endometrioid endometrial cancer still remains the aim of scientists. The aim of the study was to determine disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) in women with endometrioid endometrial cancer.

Material and methods

A retrospective review of 142 patients with endometrioid endometrial cancer after surgery treated with adjuvant radiotherapy and/or chemotherapy in the Regional Cancer Centre in Lodz between 2002 and 2004 was performed. Clinical and pathological data were correlated with clinical outcome and survival.

Results

In 3 patients (2.1%) clinical progression was diagnosed during the treatment. In 23 patients (16.7%) after primary remission, relapse was diagnosed 2-56 months after treatment. DFS and OS were 81.7% and 83.1% respectively. Better DFS significantly correlated with larger number of pregnancies (> 1), stage I of the disease and optimal surgery. Lower stage of disease, pelvic lymph node dissection, optimal surgery and depth of myometrial infiltration ≤ 50% were independent prognostic factors for better OS.

Conclusions

The results of our study provided significant evidence that early detection of endometrioid endometrial cancer enables optimal surgery. It reduces the indications for adjuvant therapy in stage I of the disease, and makes the prognosis significantly better. Other clinical and pathological factors such as numerous pregnancies, pelvic lymphadenectomy, and depth of myometrial infiltration, although important, are of less significance. Further prospective, randomized studies are necessary to prove the role of these factors.  相似文献

The present study was conducted in patients with metastatic breast cancer. Its aim was to identify the factors which influence progression -free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) after the first line of chemotherapy in patients with positive tumour hormone receptor status. The patients with early disease progression during first-line chemotherapy were not included. In total, 560 patients who achieved a stable disease or a response to first-line chemotherapy were studied. The factors identified to improve the duration of PFS or OS in multivariate analysis were: number of metastatic sites (p = .01; p = .01), metastatic sites (p = .02; p = .04), Disease free interval (p = .001; p < .0001), previous hormonal therapy (p = .03; p = ns), response to first line chemotherapy (p < .0001; p = 0.0001) and an administration of maintenance hormonal therapy (p < .0001; p = .001). The major impact obtained by maintenance hormonal treatment after first-line chemotherapy in this study seems to indicate that this strategy should be recommended in patients with an ER or PgR positive tumour.  相似文献

Introduction

The value of argyrophilic nucleolar organizer regions (AgNORs) to predict survival in patients with ovarian cancer has not been clearly explained yet. The aim of study was to assess the value of analysis of the mean number of AgNORs per nucleus (mAgNOR) and mean percentage of nuclei with five or more AgNORs per nucleus (pAgNOR) in the prediction of disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) in patients with serous ovarian cancer.

Material and methods

The study examined 52 patients treated for serous ovarian cancer with a follow-up period of 2-143 months. After silver staining paraffin specimens from primary surgery, mAgNOR and pAgNOR in cancer cells were counted and analyzed. Age, grading, radicality of surgery and FIGO staging were analyzed as covariates.

Results

Mean mAgNOR equaled 4.4 ±0.9 and pAgNOR equaled 42.2 ±20.8%. Both mAgNOR and pAgNOR were the lowest in G1 tumors. The mAgNOR and pAgNOR were lower in stage I than stage IV cancers. The DFS and OS rates were respectively 15.4% and 21.2%. In univariate analysis FIGO staging, grading, and pAgNOR were associated with worse prognosis, while radicality of surgery remained a significant protective factor in terms of DFS. Higher FIGO staging and older age worsened OS. In multivariate analysis FIGO staging remained significantly associated with both DFS (HR 1.98; 95% CI 1.05-3.71) and OS (HR 1.76; 95% CI 1.00-3.10), while age affected OS rates (HR 1.78; 95% CI 1.04-2.95).

Conclusions

mAgNOR and pAgNOR are useful markers of cellular kinetics. Prospective studies in larger populations are needed to confirm these results in terms of AgNORs’ effects on survival.  相似文献

Despite advances made in the diagnosis and treatment of human colorectal cancer (CRC), the long-term survival for CRC remains poor. Long non-coding RNA anti-differentiation ncRNA (lncRNA DANCR) was identified to be involved in carcinogenesis of hepatocellular carcinoma. While its expression in CRC and potential role in tumor progression is still unknown. In the present study, we investigated the expression level of lncRNA DANCR as well as its association with CRC progression and prognosis. The expression of lncRNA DANCR was detected by quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) in 104 CRC specimens. The prognostic value of lncRNA DANCR was further analysis. Our results showed that lncRNA DANCR expression was increased in CRC tissues compared with that in adjacent normal tissues (P<0.05). In addition, tumors with high lncRNA DANCR expression was correlated with TNM stage, histologic grade, and lymph node metastasis (P<0.05). Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that patients with high lncRNA DANCR expression had a shorter overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) compared with the low lncRNA DANCR expression group (P<0.05). Moreover, in a multivariate Cox model, our results showed that lncRNA DANCR expression was an independent poor prognostic factor for both OS and DFS in CRC. Our data indicated that lncRNA DANCR expression might be a novel potential biomarker for CRC prognosis.  相似文献

It has been well accepted that p53 overexpression is associated with advanced stages of cancer. However, the prognostic role of p53 overexpression in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) remains unclear. To investigate the prognostic role of p53 overexpression in patients with ESCC, a retrospective cohort study of 136 ESCC patients was carried out. The expression of p53 protein in tumor tissues was investigated immunohistochemically. Positive expression of p53 protein was detected in 57 ESCC patients (41.9%). The p53 overexpression was associated with smoking (P < 0.001), tumor differentiation (P < 0.001), and tumor size (P < 0.001). In the Kaplan-Meier analysis, patients with p53 overexpression had significantly shorter overall survival than those patients with negative p53 expression (log-rank P < 0.001). Multivariable analysis by Cox regression model further showed that p53 overexpression was a significantly independent predictor of poorer overall survival (hazard ratio [HR] = 1.91; 95% confidence interval [95% CI] 1.03-3.54, P = 0.04). Thus, p53 overexpression is associated with poor prognosis in patients with early stage esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, and it’s a significantly independent predictor of poorer overall survival.  相似文献

AIMS--To correlate the numbers of silver staining nuclear organiser regions (AgNORs) in non-Hodgkin''s lymphoma classified by the working formulation with survival, the first complete remission, and the length of remission. METHODS--Sixty one patients were included in the study. Paraffin wax sections were stained using silver solution to visualise nucleolar organiser regions. The AgNORs were counted in 150 nuclei of each specimen. Data were examined using the Kruskal-Wallis test, multivariate discriminant analysis, and Cox''s regression test. Curves were calculated by the method of Kaplan and Meier. RESULTS--Most patients who were alive had low grade lymphoma (p < 0.01). The first complete remission was obtained more frequently in the low and intermediate grade groups (p < 0.05). The longest survival was found in the low grade group (p < 0.001). The mean number of AgNORs differed significantly in all three groups (p < 0.001). This was also true for area of nuclei (p < 0.001) and length of remission (p < 0.05). In a multivariate analysis the numbers of AgNORs were highly predictive for survival, remission, and the length of remission. CONCLUSIONS--The numbers of AgNORs correlated with survival, remission, and the length of remission in patients with non-Hodgkin''s lymphoma.  相似文献
