A case of hemangiomyoma of the ureter in a child

Herein a rare case of hemangiomyoma of the ureter in a child is reported. Benign mesodermal tumors of the ureter are not common, particularly in a child. Two cases of leiomyoma of the ureter in childhood have been reported to date. This is the first case of ureteral hemangiomyoma in a child. Nephroureterectomy was performed and the subsequent clinical course reveals no evidence of recurrence.     

Bilateral fibroepithelial polyps of ureter in a child

Presented here is the first case of bilateral ureteral polyps in a patient under eighteen years of age, with vivid colored intraoperative photographs. The importance of careful identification of the base of the polyp to reduce operative morbidity and the necessity of ureteral reanastomosis rather than simple excision of the polyp in children is emphasized.     

A supernumerary kidney. Apropos of a case

Supernumerary kidney is a rare poorly documented anomaly. It's generally discovered in stage of complications. Preoperative diagnosis is difficult. The authors report a case of hydronephrotic supernumerary kidney, diagnosed preoperatively, in a 45 years old patient with a review of the literature.     

Horseshoe kidney with a circumcaval ureter

Horseshoe kidney accompanied by a totally circumcaval ureter has rarely been reported in the same patient. However, both entities are well recognized as being uncommon anomalies of the genitourinary system. Variability in the normal course of the ureter makes it difficult to differentiate a normal variant from a congenital anomaly or a deviation due to other factors such as inflammation or cancer. We present a case of simultaneous horseshoe kidney and a right ureter that ran in a circular fashion (360 degrees) around the inferior vena cava. Contrast-enhanced CT showed that the ureter passed posterior and medial to the inferior vena cava, providing the definitive diagnosis.     

Kidney calculus episode in a supernumerary 3rd kidney

Supernumerary kidney is a rare renal anomaly. As a distinct encapsulated parenchymatous mass, this free accessory organ has a separate blood supply and excretory duct system. We report on a patient who presented with an acute episode of abdominopelvic pain, secondary to hydronephrosis of a third kidney, situated in the pelvis behind the bladder. Modern diagnostic methods assisted in the conservative management of this well functioning third kidney.
