Abstract

Purpose: The aim of this methodological study was to cross-culturally translate the Shoulder Activity Scale (SAS) into the Persian and determine its clinimetric properties including reliability, validity, and responsiveness in patients with shoulder disorders. Method: Persian version of the SAS was obtained after standard forward-backward translation. Three questionnaires were completed by the respondents: SAS, shoulder pain and disability index (SPADI), and Short-Form 36 Health Survey (SF-36). The patients completed the SAS, 1 week after the first visit to evaluate the test–retest reliability. Construct validity was evaluated by examining the associations between the scores on the SAS and the scores obtained from the SPADI, SF-36, and age of the patients. To assess responsiveness, data were collected in the first visit and then again after 4 weeks physiotherapy intervention. Test–retest reliability and internal consistency were assessed using Intra-class Correlation Coefficient (ICC) and Cronbach’s alpha, respectively. To evaluate construct validity, Spearman’s rank correlation was used. The ability of the SAS to detect changes was evaluated by the receiver-operating characteristics method. Results: No problem or language difficulties were reported during translation process. Test–retest reliability of the SAS was excellent with an ICC of 0.98. Also, the marginal Cronbach’s alpha level of 0.64 was obtained. The correlation between the SAS and the SPADI was low, proving divergent validity, whereas the correlations between the SAS and the SF-36/age were moderate proving convergent validity. A marginally acceptable responsiveness was achieved for the Persian SAS. Conclusions: The study provides some evidences to support the test–retest reliability, internal consistency, construct validity, and responsiveness of the Persian version of the SAS in patients with shoulder disorders. Therefore, it seems that this instrument is a useful measure of shoulder activity level in research setting and clinical practice.

Purpose: To evaluate the responsiveness of two outcome measures of participation restriction [as measured by the Community Integration Questionnaire (CIQ)] and quality of life [as measured by the Multiple Sclerosis Quality of Life (MSQOL)] following a physiotherapy intervention in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS). Method: A sample of 265 patients completed both instruments first at the time of initial visit and then after 4–6 weeks physiotherapy. In addition, patients were asked to complete the 7-point global rating scale as an external criterion of change at the post-intervention time. The responsiveness was evaluated using the receiver operating characteristics (ROC) method and the correlation analysis. Two useful statistics were area under the ROC curve (AUC) and the minimally clinically important difference (MCID). The AUC and correlation coefficient greater than 0.70 were considered as acceptable responsiveness. Results: The CIQ achieved the acceptable responsiveness with an AUC of 0.81. However, the AUCs of 0.61 and 0.66 were obtained for the MSQOL physical and mental, respectively. Moreover, good correlation coefficient was obtained for the CIQ (Gamma?=?0.76) while fair correlations of 0.28 and 0.33 were obtained for the MSQOL physical and mental, respectively. The MCIDs were approximately 0.50, 1.5 and 2.5 points for the CIQ, MSQOL physical and mental, respectively. Conclusions: In contrast to the MSQOL, the CIQ was responsive outcome measure in detecting changes in participation restriction of patients with MS. Moreover, the MCID values obtained in this study will help the clinicians and researchers to determine if a patient with MS has experienced a true change following physiotherapy intervention.

Abstract

Purpose: The aim of this study was to describe and evaluate a physiotherapy program targeted to reduce pain intensity and improve the daily functioning of diabetics with shoulder problems. It was hypothesized that patients receiving specific physiotherapy treatment improved more frequently and rapidly than diabetic patients followed up without specific physiotherapeutic intervention. Method: A pre-post treatment design was completed for a group of 10 subjects. The treatment protocol, also applied during the daily activities of the subjects, was aiming at reducing pain intensity and shoulder stiffness and improving impaired functioning in daily activities by muscle relaxation, light-load exercise and enhancing proper shoulder co-ordination. Results: The group analysis showed significant decrease of pain intensity level as well as improved shoulder functioning and sustained level of subject self-efficacy beliefs throughout the study period. Conclusions: The results suggest that it is possible to relieve shoulder pain intensity and improve daily activities of patients with diabetes-related shoulder problems by employing a physiotherapy program focusing on muscle relaxation, light-load exercise and on the enhancement of proper shoulder co-ordination in daily activities.

Purpose: The purpose of this trial was to investigate changes in pain, the range of motion (ROM) and spasticity in people with painful hemiplegic shoulder (PHS) after the application of an upper limb neuromuscular taping (NMT). Methods: We conducted a randomised clinical trial. The study included 32 people, 31% female (mean?±?SD age: 66?±?9 years), with PHS after stroke with pain at rest and during functional movements. The experimental group received the application of NMT and a standard physical therapy programme (SPTP), whereas the control group received SPTP. The groups received four 45-minute long sessions over four weeks. The VAS, ROM and spasticity were assessed before and after the intervention with follow-up at four weeks. Results: The experimental group had a greater reduction in pain compared to the control group at the end of the intervention, as well as at one month after the intervention (p?Conclusion: Our study demonstrates that NMT decreases pain and increases the ROM in subjects with shoulder pain after a stroke.

Abstract

Purpose: Motor imagery (MI) has been used as a complementary therapeutic tool for motor recovery after central nervous system disease and peripheral injuries. However, it has never been used as a preventive tool. We investigated the use of MI in the rehabilitation of stage II shoulder impingement syndrome. For the first time, MI is used before surgery. Method: Sixteen participants were randomly assigned to either a MI or control group. Shoulder functional assessment (Constant score), range of motion and pain were measured before and after intervention. Results: Higher Constant score was observed in the MI than in the control group (p?=?0.04). Participants in the MI group further displayed greater movement amplitude (extension (p?<?0.001); flexion (p?=?0.025); lateral rotation (p?<?0.001). Finally, the MI group showed greater pain decrease (p?=?0.01). Conclusion: MI intervention seems to alleviate pain and enhance mobility, this is probably due to changes in muscle control and consequently in joint amplitude. MI might contribute to postpone or even protect from passing to stage III that may require surgery.

Purpose: To discover whether there are differences between patients with RA with and without active motion deficit in the shoulder (passive ROM greater than active ROM) concerning disease characteristics and shoulder function, and examine the role of active motion deficit in explaining limitations of shoulder function in daily life. Methods: This cross-sectional study included 123 patients with RA having shoulder pain. Disease activity and duration of shoulder pain and disease were registered, active and passive shoulder ROM, pain and muscle strength were measured. Shoulder function in daily life was assessed by Disability of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand (DASH). Results: Patients with active motion deficit (36%) had statistical significant worse scores on disease activity, shoulder pain, muscle strength, and DASH function than those without active motion deficit (p ≤ 0.05). No differences between the groups were found for duration of shoulder pain or disease (p > 0.05). Active motion deficit, passive ROM, muscle strength and pain explained 33.7% of the variation in the DASH function score. Conclusion: Active motion deficit in the shoulder seems frequent in patients with RA. Together with passive ROM, muscle strength and pain, active motion deficit explained about one-third of the limitations in shoulder function in daily life.

Implications for Rehabilitation

  • Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory disease that primarily affects the joints and periarticular tissue. Pain, muscle weakness, and joint destruction may result in reduced range of motion (ROM), which in turn may affect the performance of activities in daily life.

Abstract

Purpose: Investigate test--retest reliability and validity of five shoulder outcome measures in people during their active rehabilitation after a shoulder fracture. Method: This prospective longitudinal study assessed shoulder function in 20 people (16 women, mean age 68.1 years) with surgical or conservative management at 6, 12 and 13 weeks post proximal humeral fracture using three patient-reported (Disabilities of Arm, Shoulder and Hand; Oxford Shoulder Score; Subjective Shoulder Value) and two clinician-administered (Constant Score; UCLA Shoulder score) outcome measures. Results: Content analysis categorised items into multiple domains of functioning for each outcome measure. Construct validity testing between measures found moderate to strong correlations (r?=?0.43–0.92). Longitudinal validity (responsiveness), represented by correlations between change scores, was moderate to strong (r?=?0.44–0.83). Although ICCs2,1 for test–retest reliability ranged from 0.75 to 0.93, Limits of Agreement between measurements were relatively wide (10–23% of available range of scores). Minimal clinically important difference estimates varied between anchor- and distribution-based methods. Conclusions: The five outcome measures assessing shoulder function provided values for reliability and validity that meet measurement requirements for use in groups of people after a proximal humeral fracture. However, the use of these outcome measures might be limited by low absolute agreement between measurements and their content covering multiple domains of functioning.

  • Linking the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) to the content of common shoulder function outcome measures showed that multiple domains of functioning are combined into a single score. This might not be preferred for measurement of the single construct of “shoulder function”.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate how health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and functional shoulder range of motion are affected among patients with diabetes with shoulder problems, treated with a specific physiotherapy programme. A further aim was to investigate how health-related quality of life, functional shoulder range of motion, pain intensity, and shoulder function correlate within the group of patients after the treatment period.

Method: A pre–post treatment design was applied for a study group of ten patients with type 1 diabetes and shoulder problems. The physiotherapy treatment consisted of exercises promoting enhanced micro-circulation in the shoulder tissues, optimal shoulder co-ordination, and muscle relaxation. The Short Form-36 (SF-36), shoulder range of motion measures, the Shoulder Rating Scale – Swedish version, and pain intensity measures were used. The results regarding SF-36 were compared with the results of a control group of patients having either type 1 or type 2 diabetes and shoulder problems that did not receive any specific physiotherapy treatment.

Results: As a potential result of physiotherapy training, a significant change towards higher scores was observed in the physical component summary (PCS) measure of SF-36. There was a significant improvement regarding PCS in the study group as compared with the control group. There were negative correlations between the four aspects of pain intensity and PCS and Shoulder Rating Scale – Swedish version, respectively, but a positive correlation between PCS and Shoulder Rating Scale – Swedish version. “Hand-raising” and “hand-behind-back” were significantly improved, and proved to be positively correlated with Shoulder Rating Scale – Swedish version.

Conclusions: The results of this study indicate that patients with type 1 diabetes and shoulder problems, treated with a specific physiotherapy programme, may improve with respect to physical aspects of health-related quality of life, and partially regain their range of motion in the shoulder joint. Based on these results, the associated treatment protocol may be recommended for physiotherapy treatment in such patients.

Purpose: Because wheelchair users are unable to use standard fitness equipment such as treadmills and bikes, we developed an upper body rowing ergometer (UBRE) that can be retrofitted onto a standard stationary cycle and used to perform a rowing exercise. We validated a graded exercise testing protocol utilizing the UBRE and completed a 12-week pilot intervention to compare the training effects of the UBRE to a standard arm cycle ergometer (ACE) in manual wheelchair users. Methods: Repeat graded exercise tests were compared on the two pieces of equipment. Twenty-seven manual wheelchair users participated in the intervention. Outcomes included pre- versus post-test change in shoulder pain, strength and cardiorespiratory fitness measures. Results: Testing results obtained with the UBRE were comparable to those on the ACE. In the exercise intervention, most outcome measures did not change significantly, but individuals assigned to the UBRE were able to increase their peak exercise test power by 31?W and duration by 3.6?min. Conclusion: There is biomechanical reason to believe that rowing exercises may improve shoulder muscle balance in this population, which could reduce the risk of impingement. This may be of benefit to manual wheelchair users, who are at high risk for shoulder injury.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to show highly reliable normal values and three-dimensional characteristics for final range of motion during active movements of the upper extremity joints, and to develop a database from healthy participants, with the advantage of this database lying in the methods of defining shoulder axial rotation angle and of compensating for soft tissue artifacts. Methods: We used an electromagnetic tracking system (FASTRAK) to measure three-dimensional motions of the shoulder (thoracohumeral), elbow/forearm, and wrist in 20 healthy adults (age range: 18–34 years) during active joint motion tasks of the upper extremity. Results: Joint angles of the upper extremity at the final position of joint motion tasks were determined. Highly reliable data for shoulder axial rotation angle were obtained, using a new definition of joint angle and regression analysis to compensate for estimation errors. Conclusions: These results should be useful in setting goals for the treatment of upper extremity joint functions in the fields of rehabilitation, orthopedics, and sports medicine.

Implications for Rehabilitation

  • Complex joint motions that occur naturally (unconsciously) about some axes should be taken into account in interventions for range of joint motion (ROM).

  • The data obtained through this study simultaneously indicating multiple interrelated angles can be used as reference values for maximum active ROM.

  • ROM in the directions of motion involved in the various tasks (for example, elevation angle during shoulder flexion) may have a role to play in evaluating and setting goals for patients with impaired ROM of the arm joints.

Objective: To translate the Fugl-Meyer Assessment of the Upper Extremity (FMA-UE) into Danish and to establish the inter-tester reliability, responsiveness, Minimal Clinically Important Difference (MCID) and concurrent validity of the FMA-UE in a population of stroke patients. Method: The translation was conducted in accordance with the principles outlined by the ISPOR Task Force for Translation and Cultural Adaption. Inter-rater reliability was assessed at baseline. Each patient was tested by two examiners and inter class correlation (ICC) was calculated. Responsiveness was assessed using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve statistics. The FMA-UE change score was used to assess sensitivity and specificity and to correctly determine which patients had improved. The MCID and the area under the curve (AUC) were established using the ROC. The FMA-UE’s concurrent validity with the Motor Assessment Scale was determined using Spearman’s rank correlation. Setting: The study took place at Skive Neurorehabilition, Denmark from May 2014 to February 2015. Participants: Inpatients, who were in the acute to sub-acute stage of stroke and aged?>?18 years. Interventions: Not applicable. Main outcome measure: The FMA-UE. Results: In 50 inpatients the ICC was 0.95, AUC was 0.87, with a sensitivity of 77%, a specificity of 89% and an MCID?≥?4. Concurrent validity was high, with r?=?0.94–0.95. Conclusion: The FMA-UE was successfully translated into Danish. An MCID?≥?4 was found. This study provides evidence that the FMA-UE is a reliable, responsive and valid instrument for measuring upper limb impairment after stroke.

Abstract

Purpose: To investigate the responsiveness and determine the minimally important differences (MID) of Persian versions of the Kujala patellofemoral scale (KPS), lower extremity functional scale (LEFS), and functional index questionnaire (FIQ) in patients with patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS). Method: Outcome measures including the Persian KPS, LEFS, and FIQ were administered to 233 patients at baseline and then again 4 weeks after physiotherapy. Moreover, the 7-point global rating scale was completed by the patients at 4 weeks. Responsiveness was evaluated using the correlation analysis and the receiver operating characteristics (ROC) method. Results: Correlation analysis showed that the relationship of all outcome measures with the global rating scale falls within the fair range of relationship (Gamma?=?0.26–0.40). Moreover, the results of ROC analysis showed that the all outcome measures have acceptable high responsiveness index. Furthermore, the MIDs of 9.5, 4.5, and 1.5 points were obtained for the Persian KPS, LEFS, and FIQ, respectively. Conclusions: The Persian-versions of all outcome measures are responsive for evaluating change following physiotherapy intervention. The MID values obtained in this study will help the clinicians and researchers to determine if a patient with PFPS has experienced a true change following a physiotherapy intervention.

Objective: Shoulder complaints are frequently encountered in general practice, but precise diagnosing is challenging. This study investigated agreement of shoulder complaints diagnoses between clinicians in a primary health care setting.

Design: Cross-sectional study.

Setting: Four primary health care clinicians used patients’ history and functional examination of the shoulder by selective tissue tension techniques (STTs), to diagnose shoulder complaints.

Subjects: 62 patients, aged 18–75 years.

Main outcome measure: Reliability of diagnoses was assessed by observed intertester agreement and Cohen’s kappa. A total of 372 diagnostic pairs were available for intertester comparisons.

Results: Six diagnoses were assigned by all clinicians; supraspinatus-, infraspinatus-, subscapularis-tendinopathies; chronic subacromial bursitis; glenohumeral capsulitis, and acromioclavicular joint lesion. The observed agreement on these diagnoses ranged from 0.84 for glenohumeral capsulitis to 0.97 for acromioclavicular joint lesion. Kappa scores were 0.46 (95% CI 0.33, 0.58) for chronic subacromial bursitis; 0.53 (95% CI 0.34, 0.68), 0.59 (95% CI 0.47, 0.70), and 0.68 (95% CI 0.53, 0.82) for infraspinatus -, supraspinatus -, and subscapularis-tendinopathy, respectively. For glenohumeral capsulitis and acromioclavicular lesion kappa scores were 0.66 (95% CI 0.57, 0.73) and 0.78 (95% CI 0.61, 0.90). Kappa scores were higher for individual diagnoses than for individual tests, except for limitation in passive abduction (0.70, 95% CI 0.62, 0.78) and passive lateral rotation (0.66, 95% CI 0.57, 0.73).

Conclusions: Although experienced clinicians showed substantial intertester agreement, precise diagnoses of shoulder complaints in primary health care remain a challenge. The present results call for further research on refined diagnoses of shoulder complaints.

Purpose: The Disabilities of Arm, Shoulder and Hand (DASH) questionnaire is a patient reported outcome measure for evaluating upper limb function in people with musculoskeletal conditions. While the DASH has good psychometric properties when used with people with musculoskeletal conditions, it has not been tested with adults after stroke.

Methods: Data for n?=?61 adults following stroke (aged 32–93 years, 44% male) were analyzed to test validity and reliability of the DASH for use with a stroke population. Data included demographic and clinical attributes, DASH scores (baseline and four weeks later) and Patient Rated Wrist Evaluation (PRWE) measures.

Results: Internal consistency was good (Cronbach alpha 0.92, SEM 6.65). Factor analysis and Rasch modeling suggested that the questionnaire comprised three subscales: pain, impact and function. Concurrent validity between the DASH and PRWE (Spearman’s Rho rs?=?0.41) was moderate. The scale was perceived by clinicians to be useful, quick and simple to administer. The DASH had low four-week test-retest reliability (ICC 0.56 [95% Cl 0.05–0.79]).

Conclusions: The DASH is considered to have acceptable validity when used with adults following stroke. Test–retest reliability was low but further research is needed to establish whether this is a result of condition-related change or the stability of the measure.

  • The DASH questionnaire examines upper limb function in task performance and appears to be a useful tool, which is simple to administer in the clinical setting with adults following stroke.

  • Upper limb function post stroke can be meaningfully assessed using the DASH as it has good internal consistency and moderate concurrent validity.

  • Rasch analysis and factor analysis suggests that the tool appears to consist of three subscales: pain, impact and function. The total score of the DASH may be less meaningful than the totals of these subscales.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine: 1) the test–retest reliability of Fear-Avoidance Beliefs Questionnaire (FABQ) Work (FABQW) subscale, FABQ Physical Activity (FABQPA) subscale, Shoulder Pain and Disability Index (SPADI) Pain subscale, SPADI Disability subscale, and Numeric Pain Rating scale (NPRS); and 2) the relationship between the FABQPA, FABQW, SPADI pain, SPADI disability, and NPRS after 4 weeks of pragmatically applied physical therapy (PT) in patients with shoulder pain. Design: Prospective, single-group observational design. Methods: Data were collected at initial evaluation, the first follow-up visit prior to the initiation of treatment, and after 4 weeks of treatment. Results: Statistically significant Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC2,1) values were reported for the FABQPA, FABQW, SPADI Pain, SPADI Disability, and NPRS. A statistically significant moderate relationship between the FABQPA subscale, SPADI subscale, and NPRS could not be established prior to and after 4 weeks of pragmatically applied PT. Statistically significant differences were observed between the initial evaluation and four-week follow-up for the FABQPA, SPADI Pain, SPADI Disability, and NPRS (p < 0.01). Discussion: Since a meaningful relationship between the FABQ, SPADI, and NPRS did not exist, it suggests that the FABQPA may be measuring a metric other than pain. Abstract

Purpose: Outcome measures must be responsive to change (able to show statistically significant change) and must also produce information on the degree of change that is clinically significant, or the minimal clinically important difference (MCID). This research sought to establish the MCID for four domains of the Australian Therapy Outcome Measures for Occupational Therapy (AusTOMs – OT). Methods: Using a criterion approach, 30 international clinicians were surveyed about their perceptions of the MCID for AusTOMs – OT. Second, using a distribution-based approach, the MCID was calculated as half of the standard deviation (SD) of the AusTOMs – OT raw scores for a sample of 787 clients. Results: Just over half the clinicians surveyed indicated that a one-point change represented the MCID for AusTOMs – OT for three domains, and 0.5-point change showed MCID for the final domain. The data analysed for the distribution-based calculation indicated that the half SD ranged from 0.51 to 0.61. Conclusion: Using both criterion and distribution-based approaches, this research empirically demonstrated that a change on the four domains of the AusTOMs – OT of between 0.51 and 1 point shows MCID. Considering these findings, and for ease of clinical interpretation, it is recommended that a one-point shift be adopted as the MCID across all domains.

  • The AusTOMs – OT have been previously shown to be valid and reliable outcome measures for use with all client groups across all settings including rehabilitation.

  • So that rehabilitation professionals can interpret outcomes data from AusTOMs – OT, information must be available on the degree of change that is clinically significant (also referred to as the minimal clinically important difference or MCID).

  • Using empirical calculations as well as clinician opinion, it is recommended that a one-point shift be used as the minimal clinically important difference for the AusTOMs – OT.

Purpose: To investigate the feasibility of combining physiotherapy and functional electrical stimulation to improve gait post stroke. Methods: A parallel group partially single-blinded randomised clinical trial. Adults living at home, less than 6 months post stroke, were randomised to Group A (physiotherapy, n?=?10) or Group B (physiotherapy and common peroneal nerve stimulation, n?=?10). Assessments were conducted before randomisation (Week 1), after intervention (Week 8) and after 12 weeks follow-up (Week 20). Results: No between group differences were observed. There were statistically significant within group differences after the intervention period in both groups for walking speed and distance walked (without stimulation), Rivermead Mobility Index and Canadian Occupational Performance Measure, maintained at Week 20. There was statistically significant improvement in 10-m walking speed (Group B) when the stimulator was used at Week 8 (p?=?0.03, median 0.04?m/s (8%)). Only Group B had statistically significant within group change in Rivermead Visual Gait Analysis (Week 8), maintained at Week 20. Conclusions: Integrating electrical stimulation and physiotherapy was feasible and improved walking speed. There was no evidence of a training effect compared with physiotherapy alone. One-hundred forty-four participants per group would produce an adequately powered study based on this protocol.

  • At the end of the intervention period participants using electrical stimulation to correct dropped foot walked faster.

  • It was feasible for electrical stimulation to be combined with physiotherapy for people less than 6 months post stroke.

Abstract

Purpose: The aim of this study was to analyse the load on the shoulder muscles during reaching movements that are specific to wheelchair users in relation to the risk of impingement. Method: Three activities of daily living were performed: putting a book on a shelf in front and at the side and putting a pack of water bottles on a table. The AnyBody shoulder model was used to calculate the activity and forces of the shoulder muscles. Results: Handling the pack of bottles caused the highest forces in the deltoideus, trapezius, serratus anterior and rotator cuff muscles. For handling the book, the highest forces were found in the deltoideus (scapular part) and the serratus anterior, especially during the put phase. Conclusions: Handling heavy objects such as a pack of bottles or a wheelchair produces high forces on the rotator cuff muscles and can lead to early fatigue. Therefore, these activities seem to be associated with a high risk of developing impingement syndrome.

  • In a single patient, this study demonstrates that the load on the rotator cuff is high during reaching movements.

  • Handling a pack of water bottles, which resembles wheelchair handling, represents an activity associated with a high risk of developing impingement syndrome.

Purpose: Translation, cross-culturally adaptation and validation of a Persian version of COOP/WONCA charts in Persian-speaking Iranians with multiple sclerosis (MS).

Method: The Persian version of COOP/WONCA charts was developed after a standard forward translation, synthesis and backward translation. A total of 197 subjects with MS participated in this study. They were asked to complete the COOP/WONCA charts and Short-Form 36 Health Survey (SF-36). The COOP/WONCA charts were re-administered to 50 patients, 4 weeks after the first session. Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) was also scored for each subject by the referring physician. Construct validity was assessed by testing linear relationship between corresponding domains of the COOP/WONCA charts, the SF-36 and the EDSS. Test–retest reliability was examined using interclass correlation coefficient (ICC), standard error of measurement (SEM) and minimal detectable change (MDC) values.

Results: Related domains of COOP/WONCA charts and SF-36 demonstrated strong linear relationships with Spearman’s coefficients ranging from ?0.51 to ?0.75 (pp0.70) except for feelings and quality-of-life domains that were 0.50 and 0.51, respectively.

Conclusions: The Persian version of the COOP/WONCA charts was shown to be psychometrically appropriate to evaluate the functional level and quality of life in Persian-speaking Iranians with MS.
