This study examined the effectiveness of health promotion counseling for overweight adolescent nursing students. The Chinese version of an established health promotion counseling booklet developed by the author of this study was used in the counseling. The study employed a one-group pre- and post-quasi-experimental research design from September 1997 to June 1999. A total of 166 (17%) first-year, junior college nursing students were found to be overweight according to the results of a health examination at the school health center at a junior college in the Taipei Metropolitan Area. Of these 166 students, 58 were randomly selected and 49 of these had complete participation records for the 2-year study. All subjects received 8 hours of whole group and 12 hours of small group health promotion counseling over a 1-year period. The results show that health promotion counseling enabled subjects to adopt healthier lifestyles and most of the physiological variables (WLI, HDL, SBP, TC) were significantly improved. This research outcome supports the value of health promotion counseling in school health centers, which incorporates material to help overweight adolescent students live a healthier life.  相似文献

Despite the fact that nurses have a key role in health promotion, many continue to smoke at much the same rate as the general population. This paper investigates the influence of smoking status, gender, age, stage of education, and smoking duration on undergraduate nursing students' attitudes towards smoking health promotion. The study took place in one university's School of Nursing in Victoria, Australia. Respondents completed the Smoking and Health Promotion instrument. Researchers obtained ethics approval prior to commencing the study. Smoking status was the main factor that affected respondents' attitudes towards smoking health promotion, with age and education stage having a minor effect, and gender and smoking duration not significant. Nurses have an important role in modeling non-smoking behaviors for patients. There needs to be consistency between personal and professional beliefs for nurses to properly engage in smoking health promotion. The findings have implications for undergraduate nursing education curricula, nursing practice and research, and these are discussed.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to compare health-promoting practices of Canadian (n = 49) and Jordanian (n = 44) first-year nursing students using the revised Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile II. Results indicated significant differences between the groups on three subscales: health responsibility, physical activity, and interpersonal relations; however, both groups had similarly low scores. Implications for nurse educators are discussed from both curricular and cross-cultural perspective that focuses on health-promotion activities and programs.  相似文献

It has become evident that the current approaches to health care are inadequate for the changing needs of the world. Health promotion has gained recognition as a preferred option and many nursing programmes throughout the world have reoriented their curricula to incorporate this approach. This paper describes a study that was conducted to explicate student experiences of the practice of health promotion. Twenty-four students participated in the study; qualitative methods, narrative accounts and reflective journals were used to collect the data and the data was analysed using van Manen's recommendations for thematic analysis. Three major themes emerged: the centrality of caring; empowerment—power, participation and partnerships; and the primacy of people. Student narratives are used to illustrate the themes.  相似文献

Health promoting nursing practice is seen as the way forward for the nursing profession. This paper outlines the meaning of health promotion and distinguishes between a traditional and new paradigm approach. The research examining the extent to which a new paradigm approach is practised demonstrates that, to date, nurses predominantly adopt the traditional approach to health promotion. It is argued that the integration of interpersonal skills and health promotion within nursing curricula is crucial in enabling the transfer of theoretical concepts into practice. The ways in which this integration has been approached within one college of nursing are described. The difficulties encountered in attempting this integration and accomplishing a philosophical shift from a traditional to a new paradigm approach to health promotion are discussed and critiqued. Specifically conflicts that occur at an interpersonal, organizational and societal level are identified and proposed as explanations for the slow implementation of health promoting nursing.  相似文献

AIMS: To investigate the place and validity of effective process in evaluating health promotion practice in nursing and, in doing so, develop a specific model for this purpose. BACKGROUND/RATIONALE: The failure of many nurses to provide successful health promotional programmes is underpinned by a distinct lack of evaluation research activity. Without this type of activity, health-related nursing practice remains limited in its scope and nature. This article seeks to redress this situation by proposing a specific evaluation model that assists the nurse in their attempts to include evaluative research activity in future health promotion practice. METHOD: This article draws on existing literature to develop an evolving theoretical perspective for health promotion practice in nursing. The proposed model was developed from this perspective. CONCLUSION: Evaluation is an essential activity for any health promotion programme. Failure to include it in practice ensures that attempts to conduct health promotion are usually rendered ineffective and unsuccessful. Evaluation models are valuable tools that nurses can incorporate routinely into existing frameworks of practice, alongside other models of health education/health promotion, such as planning models. The development of this model is intended to enable nurses to review their current practice and offer a further framework for those who wish to extend their current health promotion repertoire.  相似文献

目的了解维吾尔族护士学生(以下简称护生)口腔保健状况,为制订促进维吾尔族护生的口腔健康及口腔保健措施提供理论依据。方法采用自行设计调查问卷,对128名维吾尔族护生的口腔健康及口腔保健状况进行调查。结果每天刷牙2次及以上的护生占80.5%,28.2%护生每次刷牙3min以上,2.6%护生刷牙时口腔内各部位均清洁到位,21.8%护生能定期进行口腔检查,78.1%护生曾经有过或经常出现牙齿疼痛,而仅有3.0%护生及时就医。结论维吾尔族护生口腔保健行为并不十分理想。需加强维吾尔族护生口腔保健知识的健康教育,使其掌握自我口腔保健的方法和技能,建立良好的口腔健康行为方式,从而提高护生口腔卫生保健水平。  相似文献

目的了解高校男护生心理健康状况及其影响因素。方法应用症状自评量表(SCL-90)和自制调查问卷,对护理系26名男生和33名女生进行心理健康状况调查。结果护理系学生与常模比较,强迫状态、焦虑、恐怖、精神病性因子分显著高于常模(P<0.05或<0.01)。男、女生分别与常模比较,男生强迫状态、精神病性因子分显著高于常模(P<0.05或<0.01);女生强迫状态、恐怖、精神病性因子分显著高于常模(P<0.05或<0.01)。男生与女生比较,男生恐怖因子分显著低于女生(P<0.05)。结论对医学院校学生,应加强心理辅导,促进其心理健康发展。男护生相对于女护生,对从事护理工作,有其优越性。  相似文献

目的调查某校大专护生健康素养水平,为制订相关健康教育策略提供依据。方法自行设计健康素养调查问卷,对某校587名在校大专护生进行问卷调查。结果大专护生健康素养总分为(75.23±8.98)分,80分以上大专护生仅占39.18%。农村大专护生的健康素养总体水平低于城镇(P〈0.05)。网络(手机)是大专护生获取健康素养知识的主要途径和最感兴趣的途径,分别为72.23%和44.12%。结论大专护生整体健康素养水平较低,学校应该注意加强这方面教育,并选择恰当的教学方法。  相似文献

The aim of this case study was to describe and analyse the basic pre-conditions for an intervention programme focusing upon mental health promotion and prevention of depression in an elderly community group and to discuss the psychiatric nurse's community-oriented health promotion work. The intervention programme, which was led by a psychiatric nurse, was built on intersectorial co-operation between public and voluntary organizations, development of social networks to promote social support, and target group participation. The nurse's function in the community-oriented work was to act at the individual, group and society level, as well as to mobilize resources among individuals and organizations, in order to create a favourable interaction, resulting in health and empowerment for the individual. Pre-conditions for leading this work were: knowledge of health and mental all health among the elderly, investigation methodology, knowledge about the local society, as well as pedagogical, supervisory and social competence.  相似文献

目的:探析健康促进型疗养院护理管理实践及效果。方法:尝试实施护理组织支持管理策略、护理部垂直管理策略、多元化培养管理策略。结果:疗养服务对象对疗养护理服务综合评价、护理健康促进内涵评价、护理健康促进技术能力评价提高,差异有统计学意义(P〈0.001);护理人员工作满意度提升,护理管理策略实施前后差异有统计学意义(P〈0.001)。结论:实施护理人力资源的组织支持管理、垂直管理、多元化培养以及项目带动内涵建设管理策略,有利于健康促进疗养模式下的疗养护理服务质量提升,护理人员职业价值认同提高,稳定护理队伍建设。  相似文献

Aim: To describe the development process of nursing school‐led community health promotion centers (CHPC) to improve the health of the surrounding communities. Methods: This study design was a research and development study. (i) Assessment of health needs by interviewing 359 people in the community to select health programs for the community health promotion center. (ii) Five health promotion strategies from the Ottawa Charter were applied to develop the community health promotion center for a city community. Results: (i) The people in the community had higher socioeconomic status levels and better health behaviors compared to the general Korean population, and they also listed chronic health problem management as their first priority health service. (ii) Development of the community health promotion center was done based on the five World Health Organization's Ottawa Charter Health Promotion Strategies: build healthy public policy, create supportive environments, strengthen community actions, develop personal skills, and reorient health services. Conclusions: The present study showed that the WHO's five Ottawa Charter Health Promotion Strategies were useful for developing health promotion centers in the community.  相似文献

The study reported here is taken from a wider investigation into stress among preregistration nursing students, undertaken in the nursing department of a large university in northern England. British nursing is divided into four specialties or 'branches': adult, mental health, children's, and learning disability nursing, and the aim of the study was to explore interbranch differences among the students in terms of the sources of stress they identify, the levels of stress they experience, and the ways in which they cope. A cross-sectional survey of all nursing students on the department's roll (n = 1362), using a range of self-report measures bound together in a 'questionnaire pack', was undertaken. The questionnaire pack contained formal measures of sources of stress (Student Nurse Stress Index), stress (specifically, psychological distress) (General Health Questionnaire) and coping (Coping Inventory for Stressful Situations), as well as a set of questions that enabled data on a range of pertinent variables, including the nursing branch being pursued, to be collected. The findings revealed that mental health nurses were notably different from the other three branches in terms of the quantity and characteristics of the sources of stress they faced, the levels of stress they experienced, and the ways in which they coped. These differences were largely advantageous to the students' well-being and speculations are made as to whether the concept of 'hardiness'- especially its focus on a sense of being in control - plays a role in explaining the findings.  相似文献

Aims and objectives. The research outlined in this paper aimed to establish a consensus view amongst primary healthcare professionals about the competencies that district nurses need in order to fulfil an effective role in health promotion. Background. In recent years there has been a growing emphasis on health promotion in primary care in the United Kingdom and health promotion is becoming increasingly important to nurses who work in the community. However, consideration of the role of the district nurse in health promotion is rather restricted and consequently district nurses have limited access to empirical evidence, from which they can develop their work in health promotion. Design and methods. The Delphi technique was used for this study. Seventy‐two primary healthcare professionals were mailed a series of three questionnaires, which achieved response rates of 86, 87.5 and 78.9%. Results. There was a consensus amongst the panellists that district nurses require a range of competencies to engage effectively in health promotion. These were categorized to produce a definitive list of eight knowledge‐, seven attitude‐ and eight skill‐related competencies. Conclusions. For the first time, this study achieves a consensus on the competencies needed by district nurses to engage in health promotion. Relevance to clinical practice. District nurses should feel encouraged to develop their health promotion role in light of the fact that many of the competencies that they require for this activity have been identified as essential for their day‐to‐day nursing practice. The research highlights the fact that new paradigm health promotion is a concept that has moved beyond the academic arena and is recognized as significant by practising health professionals.  相似文献

目的了解护生心理健康水平与心理社会因素的关系。方法采用症状自评量表、青少年生活事件量表和应对方式问卷、领悟社会支持量表、自尊量表对345名护生进行调查。结果成熟型应对方式、领悟社会支持量表得分、自尊量表得分与症状自评量表得分呈负相关,不成熟型应对方式、混合型应对方式、青少年生活事件量表得分与症状自评量表得分呈正相关。对症状自评量表得分有直接影响的变量按影响大小依次为成熟型应对方式、自尊、生活事件评分、社会支持总分,4个变量对心理症状均存在间接效应。结论成熟型应对方式、自尊、生活事件、社会支持是影响在校护生心理健康的重要因素。  相似文献
