We assessed determinants of cord serum polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) levels among 720 infants born between 1993 and 1998 to mothers living near a PCB-contaminated Superfund site in Massachusetts, measuring the sum of 51 PCB congeners (capital sigmaPCB) and ascertaining maternal address, diet, sociodemographics, and exposure risk factors. Addresses were geocoded to obtain distance to the Superfund site and neighborhood characteristics. We modeled log10(capital sigmaPCB) as a function of potential individual and neighborhood risk factors, mapping model residuals to assess spatial correlates of PCB exposure. Similar analyses were performed for light (mono-tetra) and heavy (penta-deca) PCBs to assess potential differences in exposure pathways as a function of relative volatility. PCB-118 (relatively prevalent in site sediments and cord serum) was assessed separately. The geometric mean of capital sigmaPCB levels was 0.40 (range, 0.068-18.14) ng/g serum. Maternal age and birthplace were the strongest predictors of capital sigmaPCB levels. Maternal consumption of organ meat and local dairy products was associated with higher and smoking and previous lactation with lower capital sigmaPCB levels. Infants born later in the study had lower capital sigmaPCB levels, likely due to temporal declines in exposure and site remediation in 1994-1995. No association was found between capital sigmaPCB levels and residential distance from the Superfund site. Similar results were found with light and heavy PCBs and PCB-118. Previously reported demographic (age) and other (lactation, smoking, diet) correlates of PCB exposure, as well as local factors (consumption of local dairy products and Superfund site dredging) but not residential proximity to the site, were important determinants of cord serum PCB levels in the study community.  相似文献

The Swan Hills Treatment Centre (SHTC), located in central Alberta, is the primary facility in Canada for incinerating polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). Past studies have shown significant contamination by PCBs and other pollutants of the immediate surrounding region. However, it is unclear whether the major source of contamination to the region's atmosphere is historical release incidents or long-term emissions. To answer this question, concentrations of PCBs and enantiomer fractions of several PCB congeners were determined in soil and air, via polyurethane foam passive samplers, over several seasons between 2005 and 2008. Concentrations in both media were highest for samples collected closest to the SHTC, demonstrating a concentration profile typical of a point source. Enantiomer analysis revealed racemic profiles in air for all congeners, while soil was significantly nonracemic for PCB 95, indicating significant microbial degradation of this congener. However, the primary source of this congener, and likely others, in the surrounding atmosphere is recent and continual releases from the SHTC, rather than the release of weathered PCBs previously deposited to local soils. In addition, enantiomer compositions for PCBs 95 and 149 yielded minimum biotransformation half-lives of 25 and 97 years, respectively, suggesting an expected gradual decline in the region's PCB load once fresh inputs cease.  相似文献

Concentrations of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), hydroxylated metabolites of PCBs (HO-PCBs) and octachlorostyrene (4-HO-HpCS), and pentachlorophenol (PCP) were determined in umbilical cord plasma samples from three different regions of Québec. The regions studied included two coastal areas where exposure to PCBs is high because of marine-food-based diets--Nunavik (Inuit people) and the Lower North Shore of the Gulf of St. Lawrence (subsistence fishermen)--and a southern Québec urban center where PCB exposure is at background levels (Québec City). The main chlorinated phenolic compound in all regions was PCP. Concentrations of PCP were not significantly different among regions (geometric mean concentration 1,670 pg/g, range 628-7,680 pg/g wet weight in plasma). The ratio of PCP to polychlorinated biphenyl congener number 153 (CB153) concentration ranged from 0.72 to 42.3. Sum HO-PCB (sigma HO-PCBs) concentrations were different among regions, with geometric mean concentrations of 553 (range 238-1,750), 286 (103-788), and 234 (147-464) pg/g wet weight plasma for the Lower North Shore, Nunavik, and the southern Québec groups, respectively. Lower North Shore samples also had the highest geometric mean concentration of sum PCBs (sum of 49 congeners; sigma PCBs), 2,710 (525-7,720) pg/g wet weight plasma. sigma PCB concentrations for Nunavik samples and southern samples were 1,510 (309-6,230) and 843 (290-1,650) pg/g wet weight plasma. Concentrations (log transformed) of sigma HO-PCBs and sigma PCBs were significantly correlated (r = 0.62, p < 0.001), as were concentrations of all major individual HO-PCB congeners and individual PCB congeners. In Nunavik and Lower North Shore samples, free thyroxine (T4) concentrations (log transformed) were negatively correlated with the sum of quantitated chlorinated phenolic compounds (sum PCP and sigma HO-PCBs; r = -0.47, p = 0.01, n = 20) and were not correlated with any PCB congeners or sigma PCBs. This suggests that PCP and HO-PCBs are possibly altering thyroid hormone status in newborns, which could lead to neurodevelopmental effects in infants. Further studies are needed to examine the effects of chlorinated phenolic compounds on thyroid hormone status in newborns.  相似文献

Data on reproductive success of Forster's tern (Sterna forsteri) from Green Bay, Lake Michigan in 1983 are compared with data collected in 1988. In 1988 measures of reproductive performance (hatching success, number of young fledged, and length of incubation) were improved. Concentrations of total polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and planar PCB congeners in the eggs were compared between years. Median total PCB residue was 67% lower in 1988 ( =7.3 μg/g). This corresponds to a 42% reduction in tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin equivalents (TCDD-EQ) from 1983 to 1988. We suggest that contaminant reduction and improved reproductive performance were due to low river flows in 1988 and associated reduced PBC loading into Green Bay. Forty-two percent of the matured chicks died before fledgling, and their body weight growth curves were much lower than normal. Young accumulate total PCBs at a rate of 17.6 μg/day. A no-observable-adverse-effects level (NOAEL) of 40–84 μg/kg/day was estimated from the two year results using the least observable adverse effects level (LOAEL)/NOAEL rating values.  相似文献

Female F344/NCr rats were exposed continuously to Aroclor® 1254 (1, 3.3, 10, 33, or 100 ppm in the diet) for 7, 28, or 84 days in order to assess the accumulation of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in liver, blood, and adipose tissue. The persistence of the individual PCB congeners which are detected in liver was examined in the three tissues of additional groups of rats exposed for 7 days followed by 21 days on control diet, or for 28 days followed by 56 days on control diet. Limited accumulation of PCB congeners with low chlorine substitution (tri- and tetrachlorobiphenyls) in the liver and blood, and preferential retention of highly substituted PCB congeners (penta-and hexachlorobiphenyls) were observed in rats continuously exposed to Aroclor. In these rats, time- and dose-dependent increases in the relative levels of two congeners which cause profound phenobarbital-type induction [2,2,3,4,4,5-hexachlorobiphenyl (BZ# 138) and 2,2,4,4,5,5-hexachlorobiphenyl (BZ# 153)] were detected in the liver and adipose tissue. Rats receiving control diet following Aroclor treatment displayed a time- and dose-dependent decrease in the relative levels in blood, adipose and hepatic tissue of 2,3,34,4-pentachlorobiphenyl (BZ# 105) and 2,3,4,4,5-pentachlorobiphenyl (BZ# 118), two of the major congeners showing both TCDD- and phenobarbital-type induction. These rats also displayed increases in the relative adipose levels of another relatively potent mixed-type inducer, 2,3,3,4,4,5-hexachlorobiphenyl (BZ# 156), and increases in adipose and hepatic levels of the pure phenobarbital-type inducer, 2,2,4,4,5-pentachlorobiphenyl (BZ# 99).  相似文献

Concentrations of mercury and persistent organic pollutants in fish were examined in 11 lakes of the French Pyrénées spanning an elevation range of 2 km. All lakes were confined to a relatively small area within a 50-km diameter. Most of the lakes were within the Pyrénées National Park, which is restricted to recreational hiking, angling, and seasonal grazing of livestock, and are not subject to any known point sources of contaminants. Fish collected were mainly of 1 species (Salmo trutta fario), which is stocked regularly in the lakes. With increasing elevation, lake temperatures declined along with electrical conductivity and planktonic chlorophyll a. In contrast, water column nutrients (total phosphorus and total nitrogen) and epilithic periphyton biomass were not correlated with lake elevation. Of the global contaminants measured in fish, mercury, dicholorodiphenyltrichloroethane and its derivatives, and polybrominated diphenyl ethers showed the strongest positive correlation with elevation. Hg levels in some fish exceeded health consumption guidelines in these mountain lakes. Variation in fish contaminant levels was not related to differences in growth rate or to fish trophic position as determined using delta15N stable isotope measurements. This implies that the delivery and/or retention of many of these contaminants increase with lake elevation.  相似文献

OBJECTIVES: To evaluate background exposure levels and determinants of the individual variations in the exposure to dioxins in Japan. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was performed on 131 men and 122 women (aged 20-76 years), who resided in five prefectures of Japan and had no occupational exposure to dioxins. Seven polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs), ten polychlorinated dibenzo-furans (PCDFs) and 12 polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), which are assigned a toxicity equivalent factor, were determined in fasting blood. Biochemical analysis of plasma and a questionnaire survey on life-style, including dietary habit, were also performed. Factors associated with the levels of dioxin-related compounds in blood were evaluated by multiple linear regression. RESULTS: The median of total toxicity equivalents (TEQs) in men and women was 17 and 16 pg TEQ/g lipid, respectively, with no gender difference. After adjustment for age and other covariates, plasma concentrations of eicosapentaenoic acid, a biomarker of fish intake, were found to be positively associated with blood levels of total dioxin, PCDDs, PCDFs and PCBs, all of which were expressed on a TEQ basis (P<0.01). The frequency of intake of coastal fish, such as horse mackerel, mackerel and sardine, was also associated with TEQ-based concentrations of PCDFs (P=0.03) and PCBs (P=0.08). The intake of raw fish was positively related to total dioxins (P=0.06) and PCBs (P=0.03). CONCLUSIONS: The level of intake of marine fish, especially raw fish and coastal varieties, may be associated with increased blood levels of dioxin-related compounds among the population. Despite high fish consumption in Japan, the body burden of dioxins in the population was not found to be higher than that in western countries.  相似文献

Background: For the retrospective study of environment and health linkages biomarkers of exposure are required. Polychlorinated dibenzo-dioxins and furans (PCDD/F) and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) have been useful markers in some settings. This is the first study of PCDD/F body burden in a population based sample from the UK. Aims and Methods: The authors aimed to investigate whether long term residents close to a heavy chemical industrial complex (Teesside, UK) had a higher body burden and distinct pattern of PCDD/F and PCBs. We measured current levels of PCDD/F and PCBs in a population based sample of older women (mean 64 years, range 42–79 years). Forty women were recruited, 20 living near (zone A: 0.1–2.7 km) and 20 distant (zone C: 5–40 km) from industry during 2000–03. The authors ascertained occupational exposure to lung carcinogens, residential history, consumption of local produce, breast feeding, diet, and height and weight. Results: The mean body burden measured on lipid basis in ng/kg for the whole sample was: WHO-TEQ (PCDD/Fs): 29.9, 2378TCDD: 4.0, PCB 118:16200, PCB156: 13100. Body burdens were similar to others reported from industrialised countries, except that mean 2378TCDD was slightly higher. Mean ages, body mass index, and lifelong dietary patterns were similar in both zones. The authors found no significant difference in mean body burden levels between zones A and C before or after adjustment for covariates. All congener patterns were consistent with an urban background pattern, and there was no significant difference between congener compositions in the two zones. The TCDD body burden increased with age with accelerated increments above age 70. Conclusion: Long term residency near heavy and chemical industry did not have an effect on women''s body burden of PCDD/Fs and PCBs on Teesside, UK. The body burden of PCDD/F and PCBs was not a suitable biomarker for chronic, non-occupational exposure to industrial air pollution.  相似文献

A comparative study was made of the effects of biphenyl and polychlorinated biphenyls (Kanechlors®, KCs) on the respiratory and energylinked activities of rat liver mitochondria. With ketoglutarate/malate as the substrate, biphenyl acted as the strongest inhibitor of state 3 respiration. The inhibition of state 3 respiration was decreased as chlorine content increased. The stimulation of state 4 respiration was greatest in KC-200, 300, and 400; intermediate in biphenyl and KC-500; least in KC-600. When succinate was the substrate, from the results of this and a previous study (Nishihara 1983) the action of biphenyl as an inhibitor of state 3 respiration was least effective. The inhibitory action on state 3 respiration was strengthened by the chlorination of aromatic rings (KC-200), reaching a peak where maximum inhibition was observed (KC-300, 400, and 500), further increases in chlorine content (KC-600) repressed the inhibitory action. The stimulating ability of state 4 respiration was greatly diminished with increases in chlorination. Biphenyl and KCs induced the K+ -release from mitochondria, thereby dissipating membrane potential across the mitochondrial membranes in the order; biphenyl > KC-200 > KC-300 > KC-400 > KC-500 > KC-600. It is concluded that with -ketoglutarate/malate (NAD+ -linked substrate), KCs act as uncouplers by increasing the permeability of mitochondrial inner membranes to ions, and that when succinate is the substrate, KCs act as inhibitors rather than uncouplers of oxidative phosphorylation of mitochondria by inhibiting the electron transport chain.  相似文献

Purpose

In 1968, rice oil contaminated with polychlorinated biphenyls and polychlorinated dibenzofurans caused a severe outbreak of food poisoning in Japan and was termed locally as “Yusho” (oil disease). In our previous study, we found that area-based standardized mortality ratios (SMRs) of some diseases were elevated shortly after the incident. This previous study, however, was unable to determine whether these elevated SMRs were a result of other area-specific factors. To overcome this limitation, we obtained mortality data from the 5 years before the incident and conducted an area-based study using vital statistics records dating from 1963 to 2002.

Methods

The population of Nagasaki Prefecture was set as the reference population for calculating SMRs. We also included data on cause-specific mortality attributable to cancer and expanded the population to encompass two severely exposed areas where contaminated rice oil was distributed (namely Tamanoura and Naru). We also calculated SMRs in the remainder of the Shimo-Goto region, excluding the exposed area, which was used as a comparison area.

Results

Even after considering the time trends in mortality before the incident, mortality due to diabetes mellitus and heart disease, as well as all-cause mortality, was found to be elevated shortly afterward. Additionally, mortalities due to uterine cancer in Tamanoura and leukemia were also elevated at 30–34 and 10–59 years after the event in both exposed areas, respectively. SMRs for leukemia in Tamanoura were as high as 3.0 (95 % confidence interval 1.4–6.2) and 2.4 (1.2–4.8) 10–19 years later. In this period, SMRs for leukemia in the comparison area were not elevated.

Conclusions

Further epidemiological studies are needed regarding this rice-oil, “Yusho” outbreak, especially with regard to cancer and non-cancer mortality.

Mono-ortho and non-ortho coplanar polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) were analyzed in Aroclors®, seals, and humans by graphitized carbon, a recently developed HPLC method (Hong et al. 1992b) and high-resolution gas chromatography with electron capture detection (HRGC/ECD). The concentration data were multiplied by potency factors derived from aryl hydrocarbon hydroxylase (AHH) induction to give 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) equivalents. The ability to separate coplanar PCBs from the majority of PCBs has allowed the use of TCDD toxicity equivalence to compare the relative dioxin-like potency of PCB residues in the complex mixtures. The most active mixtures, Aroclors® 1254, 1248, and 1242, contained 42–54% by weight of chlorine. The results demonstrate that the apparent dioxin-like potency of PCB residues in Aroclors®, seals, and humans is dominated by three congeners, 3,3,4,4-tetra-, 2,3,3,4,4-, and 3,3,4,4,5-pen-tachlorobiphenyl (IUPAC nos. 77, 105, 126).  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Brominated flame retardants, especially polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), have been widely used in North America, but little is known about the level of exposure of human populations to these compounds. OBJECTIVES: We set out to assess the internal exposure of postmenopausal Canadian women to selected organobromine compounds and to investigate factors associated with this exposure. METHODS: We measured concentrations of four PBDEs, one polybrominated biphenyl, and for comparative purposes, 41 polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) congeners in plasma samples from 110 healthy postmenopausal women who were recruited at a mammography clinic in 2003-2004. RESULTS: PBDE-47 was the major PBDE congener, with a mean (geometric) concentration of 8.1 ng/g lipids and extreme values reaching 1,780 ng/g. By comparison, the mean concentration of the major PCB congener (PCB-153) was 41.7 ng/g and the highest value was 177 ng/g. PBDEs 47, 99, and 100 were strongly intercorrelated, but weaker correlations were noted with PBDE-153. As the sum of PBDEs (summation operatorPBDEs) increased, the relative contribution of PBDE-47 to the summation operatorPBDEs increased, whereas that of PBDE-153 decreased. PBDE-153 was the only brominated compound correlated to PCB-153. PBDE levels were not linked to any sociodemographic, anthropometric, reproductive, or lifestyle variables documented in the present study. Age and body mass index gain since the age of 18 years were significant predictors of PCB-153 plasma levels. CONCLUSION: Our results suggest that exposure to PBDE-47 likely occurs through direct contact with the penta-PBDE formulation, whereas exposure to PBDE-153 may originate in part from the food chain.  相似文献

A study was made of the uncoupling action of polychlorinated biphenyls (Kanechlor®-400) on oxidative phosphorylation in rat liver mitochondria. Kanechlor-400 (KC-400) at 20 g/ml stimulated state 4 respiration of rat liver mitochondria more than 4-fold with-ketoglutarate/malate as a substrate, and released the oligomycin-inhibited state 3 respiration. KC-400 also dissipated the membrane potential across the mitochondrial membranes; thus, it acts as an uncoupler of oxidative phosphorylation in rat liver mitochondria. KC-400 altered the permeability properties of mitochondrial membranes as evidenced by the release of endogenous K+ and the oxidation of exogenously supplied NADH. It is concluded that KC-400 produces a nonspecific increase in mitochondrial ion permeability, thereby dissipating membrane potential, which leads to the uncoupling.  相似文献

Four groups of 22 to 24 sandworms,Nereis virens, were maintained in closed aquarium systems with continuous charcoal filtration and 45 L capacity at 20% salinity and 4, 8, 12, and 16°C. The worms of 2.0 to 5.4 g initial wet weight inhabiting glass tubes were given 10 oral doses of 0.3g 2,4,6,2,4-pentachloro[U-14C]biphenyl (PCB) during 10 consecutive days and were subsequently allowed to eliminate the compound for up to 45 weeks. Consumption and accumulation averaged 80.9, 78.3, 73.5, and 68.4% at the four temperatures. The elimination may be described with an exponential function and was fastest at 12°C. For instance, the times of initial 30% decrease te30 were 18.7, 16.8, 5.3, and 8.0 weeks at 4, 8, 12, and 16°C. Forty to 45% of the eliminated PCB were recovered from the feces, and the amounts from the feces confirmed the optimum PCB elimination at 12°C. The elimination optimum at submaximum temperatures suggests that PCB elimination byNereis virens, at least in part, is an active process. By comparison with earlier work, a dependence of the elimination times te30 or te50 on initial concentration was found thus favoring a multicompartment elimination model. Unequal PCB contents of anterior and posterior worm parts were governed by unequal lipid contents.  相似文献

Some polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) congeners are CYP1A1 inducers, and induction of this enzyme in the placenta has been linked to adverse effects on fetal development. The objective of this study was to determine if the body burden of PCBs is related to placental CYP1A1 activity in Inuit women from Nunavik (northern Québec), a population highly exposed to organochlorines. Placenta and cord blood samples were obtained from 35 Inuit women and 30 women from a southern Québec community exposed to background levels of organochlorines. We measured PCB concentrations in all cord plasma samples and in a subset of placenta samples from the Nunavik group and assessed CYP1A1 activity (ethoxyresorufin-O-deethylase; EROD) in placental microsomes from all participants. Concentrations of PCBs in cord plasma were strongly correlated to those in placenta (Pearson's r) = 0.77-0.97, p < 0.001) and were on average 4-fold higher in Inuit women than in southern Québec women [for PCB 153, the geometric means (geometric SDs) were 83.3 (1.9) ng/g lipid vs. 16.9 (1.6) ng/g lipid, respectively]. Despite this difference in PCB body burden, both study groups had similar EROD activities when data were stratified according to tobacco smoking. Although simple correlation analysis first showed that placental EROD activity was correlated with PCB 153 plasma concentration in the Nunavik group, a multivariate analysis failed to demonstrate a significant contribution of PCBs to EROD activity when tobacco smoking was included in the analysis. We conclude that dietary exposure to PCBs in Inuit women from Nunavik does not significantly influence EROD activity in the placenta, implicating tobacco smoking as the major modulating factor.  相似文献

Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) are very persistent organic pollutants of severe environmental concern due to their toxic properties. Former underground miners might have been exposed to this substance group due to the widespread use of PCBs in hydraulic oils from the late 1960s to the mid 1980s. We have conducted a blinded case-control study in order to evaluate the possibility of retrospective exposure assessment of PCBs using human biomonitoring in former underground miners decades after the last possible exposure. We have identified n?=?34 male former underground miners and n?=?136 age-matched male control persons from the database of patients of our occupational outpatient clinic aged between 47.9 and 83.7?years ?at the time of sampling (June 2006–June 2016). These archived plasma samples have been blinded and analysed for 21 different PCB-congeners using a validated and quality controlled procedure using GC/MS (LOQ: 0.01?μg/L).Highly significant differences between cases and age-matched controls were only found for the PCB-congeners PCB 74 and PCB 114. The median (95th percentile) levels of PCB 74 in cases and controls were 0.126?μg/L plasma (0.899?μg/L plasma) vs. 0.058?μg/L plasma (0.368?μg/L plasma) and the 95th percentile levels for PCB 114 were 0.039?μg/L plasma vs. 0.017?μg/L plasma. Linear regression models revealed that this difference in plasma levels was unequivocally attributed to the underground mining activity. Thus, retrospective exposure assessment for underground miners by use of human biomonitoring seems feasible and further studies with a particular focus on this special group of workers should be performed.  相似文献

Levels of polychlorobiphenyls (PCBs), DDE, and mirex were measured in the subcutaneous fat, breast muscle, liver, and brain of sixty-three waterfowl collected in New York State during 1979 and 1980. Mean PCB levels were 7.5 g/g in fat and 1.3 g/g in breast muscle on a wet weight basis. The FDA tolerance level is 3.0 g/g in fat on a wet weight basis. Mean DDE and mirex levels were 0.34 g/g and 0.10 g/g in fat and 0.16 g/g and 0.07 g/g in breast muscle on a wet weight basis, respectively. Comparisons and correlations were made of contaminant levels in the various tissues by different concentration bases, and PCB concentrations were compared to the Aroclor® (PCB) type. Potential health hazards are discussed. Comparisons to earlier studies show declined levels. Mergansers are the most contaminated species.  相似文献

In a selected group of women from the Danish National Birth Cohort, the authors investigated the association between intake of fatty fish and plasma concentrations of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) on the one hand and the association between maternal PCB concentrations and fetal growth on the other. Of 70,183 women who filled in a food frequency questionnaire during 1996-2002, 100 nulliparous women aged 25-35 years with normal prepregnancy body mass index were selected according to their intake of fatty fish (low (0 meals/month, n = 34), medium (1-3 meals/month, n = 33), or high (> or = meals/month, n = 33)). Women with a high intake of fatty fish had 50% (95% confidence interval (CI): 31, 72) higher plasma PCB concentrations than women with low intake. Maternal plasma PCB concentrations were inversely associated with birth weight and placental weight. The adjusted mean difference between the 75th and 25th PCB percentiles was -155 g (95% CI: -291, -19) for birth weight and -81 g (95% CI: -135, -26) for placental weight. These results support previous findings from this cohort, where fatty fish intake was inversely associated with fetal growth. Dietary recommendations often encourage weekly consumption of fatty fish. These results suggest that potential exposure to PCBs should be carefully considered before recommending such intakes among women of childbearing age.  相似文献

The PCBs, DDE, and mirex levels were measured in the subcutaneous fat and breast muscle of fifty-five waterfowl collected in New York State during 1981 and 1982. Levels were obtained by electron capture gas chromatography (EC-GC) on wet weight, dry weight, and lipid weight bases; results were confirmed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The mean PCB levels were 6.1 (g/g in fat and 0.25 g/g in breast muscle on a wet weight basis. The mean DDE and mirex levels were 0.10 g/g and 0.28 g/g in fat and 0.01 g/g and 0.002 g/g in breast muscle on a wet weight basis, respectively. The results of the present study confirm those of the previous study (Kimet al. 1984). The detailed comparison, however, shows that the levels of PCBs and DDE in fat continued to decline while the level of mirex increased slightly.  相似文献
