Polyethers are elastomeric materials commonly used for making precision impressions. They are hydrophilic, which facilitates the contact of the unset material with the intraoral tissue and the wetting of the impression by cast materials. The final hardness of this new impression material is reduced in an attempt to overcome rigidity of the set impression. A case is described involving the restoration of a fractured maxillary premolar and a single-phase impression technique using the new polyether impression material.  相似文献

A laboratory experiment has been described that utilized materials found in most dental offices and that was designed to evaluate a distinctly different polysulfide impression material. In this experiment the largest duplicating errors were produced with use of the stock tray and single-mix technique recommended by the manufacturer. This study therefore supports the use of the custom tray and double-mix technique for dental duplication procedures utilizing Neo-Plex impression material. Further investigation is necessary before stock trays and single-mix techniques can be recommended for routine use in fixed prosthodontics.  相似文献

This case documents the course and treatment of a severe reaction to an unusual foreign body. A tooth brush bristle was lodged in the lower anterior areas between the cuspid and lateral incisor teeth. Although the patient noted some original discomfort, severe pain and bone destruction did not occur until 6 weeks after the original symptoms began. Treatment involved full thickness flap reflection of the involved area. The histologic examination showed a typical foreign body reaction to the bristle. All teeth remained vital throughout the disease process and healing phase. Healing was uneventful and the lost bone completely regenerated.  相似文献

Biological evaluation of a polyvinyl siloxane impression material.   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to determine the irritant properties of a new polyvinyl siloxane impression material (Ghenesil, Lascod-Italy) after single application to intact skin of the rabbit. METHODS: The material was evaluated for primary skin irritation according to the UNI EN ISO 10993-10:1996 using three healthy male New Zealand White rabbits. The back of the animals was clipped free of fur and divided into four sites with the same area 24 h before application of the sample. The material was applied to only two sites; the other two were used as controls. All the sites were covered by gauze and the back of the rabbit was wrapped with a non-occlusive bandage. After 4 h, the bandage and the test material were removed; 1h later the sites were examined for skin irritation and the observation was repeated after 24, 48 and 72 h. The Score of Primary Irritation (SPI) was calculated for each animal and the Primary Irritation Index (PII) was calculated as the arithmetical mean of SPI values. RESULTS: The PII of the test material resulted 0.06. SIGNIFICANCE: Based on present results, it can be concluded that the primary skin irritation of the polyvinyl siloxane impression material tested can be considered negligible.  相似文献

The inhibition of polymerization of polyvinyl siloxane impression materials by direct contact with latex gloves has been well documented. Indirect intraoral inhibition of polymerization that results from contact of oral tissues with latex gloves during tooth preparation and gingival retraction procedures has been reported. This case report illustrates the problems that can occur when the dentist used polyvinyl siloxane impression materials while wearing latex gloves. In the reported case, the inhibition is severe and obvious; in most situations the inhibition of polymerization is more subtle and is frequently undetected. Clinicians must be aware of this potential problem and the solution to it.  相似文献
