The role of the principal in secondary school health education is explored in this paper. Using the social process theory, the ideal role is developed through a review of current literature and the actual role through a survey of high school principals and health education teachers in Chicago. A consensus regarding the role functions of the principal related to school health education as perceived by principals, health education teachers and authorities in school administration was revealed. The principal's role is one of leadership related to curriculum and instruction. The physical education teacher was responsible for health education in all the schools. No consensus emerged regarding the priority of health education within the school. 相似文献

Health care services are typically consumed out of necessity, typically to recover from illness. While the consumption of health care services can be emotional given that consumers experience fear, hope, relief, and joy, surprisingly, there is little research on the role of consumer affect in health care consumption. We propose that consumer affect is a heuristic cue that drives evaluation of health care services. Drawing from cognitive appraisal theory and affect-as-information theory, this article tests a research model (N = 492) that investigates consumer affect resulting from service performance on subsequent service outcomes. 相似文献

The scope and dynamics of heart, lung, and blood diseases in the United States are reviewed and the need for research about the primary prevention of these conditions among large populations of children and youth is explained. Ways in which school health education could contribute to the primary prevention of these diseases are delineated; risk factors and social issues that might be addressed by the nation's schools are identified. A brief review of educational efforts to discourage adolescent cigarette smoking during the last 30 years illustrates some of the problems and opportunities presented by school health education research. 相似文献

ABSTRACT: The School Health Education Commission of the European Community is making efforts to improve school health education in the European Community countries. While past efforts have involved single issue causes, current activities emphasize a holistic perception of school health education. Radical education reforms throughout the European Community advocate improved health education. The movement toward quality health education in the European Community countries uses a model called the Health Promoting School, a cooperative effort involving schools, families, and communities. The model is being promoted through three stages: 1) national conferences held in each European Community country, 2) summer schools to provide teacher training, and 3) national projects, supported by the World Health Organization, agreement conducted to determine the efficacy of the Health Promoting School Model. 相似文献
