A second renaissance

This piece was written to mark the first anniversary of 11 September 2001. Inspections for weapons of mass destruction began not long after, but did not prevent war. To that extent it is, sadly, out of date. However, the editors and Management Committee feel that it is important to print it as received to make it clear that there was opposition to war on Iraq within the United States, not least from a candidate for the Democratic Party nomination for the Presidency. Also, there is still another viewpoint in that great country regarding its own future and its role in the wider world than that of the present administration.

A congenital long rectoscrotal fistula: A rare variant

Congenital rectoscrotal fistula is a rare variant of anorectal malformations (ARM) as per pena classification. Its nomenclature as well as the management, obviously has not been discussed in literature so far. One such rare case and its management in a male neonate have been discussed here. Non or occasionally deflating congenital recto scrotal fistula has to be managed like an intermediate ARM.     

1例遗传性多发性骨软骨瘤家系报道

目的 观察1个遗传性多发性骨软骨瘤(HME)家系临床特征,以探讨其发病部位及规律.方法 分析临床诊断并经手术病理证实的HME 1个家系共14例,其中14例患者男性占50%,女性占50%.对HME发病部位情况及临床表现进行分析.结果 肿瘤多发于四肢长骨干骺端,未侵及颅面骨.结论 该HME家系发病无性别差异,发病部位位于长骨干骺端.     

歼-7飞行员甲型流行性感冒一例

一、临床资料 患者,男性,24岁,歼-7飞行员,总飞行时间460 h,现机种飞行时间100 h,因发热、咳嗽2 d于2009年11月28日住我院.患者于入院前2 d出现发热、咳嗽、咳痰、咽痛及乏力,体温38.5℃,部队航医给予"抗感冒药物"口服治疗,效果不佳.入院查体:体温39.0℃,咽部充血,心肺查体未见异常.
