PurposeThe purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of pretreatment using phosphoric acid, sodium hypochlorite and sulfinic acid sodium salt on the bonding of one-step self-etching adhesives to root canal dentin.MethodsThirty-six single-rooted sound human premolars were randomly assigned into three groups before applying the one-step self-etching adhesive. These comprised a control group with no pretreatment, an NC group that received phosphoric acid and subsequent sodium hypochlorite gel pretreatments, and an NC + AC group that received an additional treatment with sulfinic acid sodium salt following the same pretreatment applied to the NC group. Microtensile bond strength measurements, bonding interface observations by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), elemental analyses by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and degree of polymerization (DOP) analyses by Raman spectroscopy were subsequently performed.ResultsThe bond strength was significantly higher in the NC + AC group than in the other two groups (Control: P = 000.1 and NC: P = 0.004). SEM observations showed that resin tags were present in the dentinal tubules in the NC and NC + AC groups. Compared to the control group, the adhesive resin layer had a lower DOP in the NC group, while the DOP for the NC + AC group was higher than that of the NC specimens.ConclusionsBonding to root canal dentin was improved by applying sulfinic acid sodium salt in addition to treatment with phosphoric acid followed by sodium hypochlorite. The DOP of the adhesive resin was reduced by sodium hypochlorite and subsequently restored by applying sulfinic acid sodium salt.  相似文献

ObjectivesInformation regarding the effects of orthodontic bracket debonding on zirconia restorations, and the preferred method for residual adhesive removal from the zirconia restoration surface is lacking. Thus, this study aimed to assess the effects of different methods of residual adhesive removal after orthodontic bracket debonding on flexural strength, surface roughness, and phase transformation of high-translucent (HT) zirconia.Materials and methodsThis in vitro study evaluated 72 bar-shaped HT zirconia specimens; 18 specimens were assigned to the control group. Metal brackets were bonded to the remaining specimens by resin cement. After bracket debonding, the residual adhesive on the surface of specimens was removed by three methods (n = 18): a 30-flute tungsten-carbide (TC) bur at low speed, an ultrafine diamond bur at high speed, and Er:YAG laser irradiation. The surface roughness (Ra and Rz) was measured. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis was carried out, and the flexural strength was measured as well. Data were statistically analyzed (α = 0.05).ResultsBefore polishing, all methods increased the Ra and Rz values (P < 0.05) except for the diamond bur yielding a Rz value comparable to that of the control group. The Ra values of the test groups were comparable after polishing, and still higher than that of the control group (P < 0.05). The flexural strength of all three test groups was comparable (P > 0.05), and significantly lower than that of the control group (P < 0.001). The monoclinic phase was not observed in any group.ConclusionsOrthodontic bracket debonding adversely affects the surface roughness and flexural strength of zirconia despite polishing.  相似文献

ObjectivesBonding stability of resinous adhesives to dentin is still problematic and may involve regional variations in dentin composition. This study is to evaluate the effect of dentin depth on the stability of resin-dentin bonds under thermocycling challenge.MethodsDentin slabs with two flat surfaces parallel to the tooth axis were obtained from extracted human third molars. The slabs were randomized into eight groups according to the location of dentin [deep dentin (DD) or superficial dentin (SD)], the adhesive treatment (Single Bond 2 or Clearfil S3 Bond), and the storage treatment (thermocycling for 5000 times vs. no). After the adhesive treatment and composite buildup on the dentin slabs, the micro-shear bond strength (μSBS) of each group was detected. The concentrations of cross-linked carboxyterminal telopeptide of type I collagen (ICTP) were also evaluated using an immunoassay to detect the degree of collagen degradation in each group.ResultsDentin depth, adhesive treatment and storage treatment all showed significant effects on both the μSBSs and the ICTP values (P < 0.05). Regardless of the adhesive type, thermocycling decreased the μSBSs and increased the ICTP values (P < 0.05). The DD groups showed significantly lower μSBSs and higher ICTP values than SD groups after thermocycling aging (P < 0.05). The treatment with Single Bond 2 significantly increased the ICTP values (P < 0.05), whereas Clearfil S3 Bond showed no effect on the ICTP values (P > 0.05).SignificanceDeep dentin showed significantly more bond degradation after thermocycling than did superficial dentin.  相似文献

ObjectiveTo investigate the influence of increasing the occlusal vertical dimension (iOVD) on the fibre-type distribution and ultrastructure of deep masseter of rat at different ages.DesignA total of forty-eight male Wistar rats were divided into two groups according to age: ‘teenage’ group (n = 24, 1.5 months) and ‘young adult’ group (n = 24, 8 months). Both the teenage and the young adult rats were then randomly divided into the control group (n = 12) and the experimental group (n = 12). The occlusal vertical dimensions of the rats in the experimental groups were increased by placing composite resin on all maxillary molars. The fibre-type distribution and ultrastructure of the deep masseter were subsequently observed on day 7 and day 14 after iOVD.ResultsIn the teenage experimental group, the proportion of type IIa fibres increased, while the proportion of type IIb and type IIx fibres decreased by day 7 after iOVD (P < 0.05). However, no significant fibre phenotype transformation was observed in the young adult experimental group until day 14 after iOVD. In addition, the proportion of type IIa in the teenage experimental group was higher than that of the young adult experimental group on day 7 and 14 (P < 0.05). Under the transmission electron microscope, muscle fibre reconstruction and the compensatory increase in the number and volume of mitochondria appeared earlier in the teenage experimental group. The cellular traumatic reaction was less than that in the young adult experimental group.ConclusionThe teenage rat alters masseter muscle structure to a slower phenotype earlier and to a greater degree than that of the young adult rat when increasing the occlusal vertical dimension.  相似文献

PurposeThe purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of both a resin primer containing methyl methacrylate (MMA) and a silanizing agent on bonding to indirect resin composite blocks, using two types of build-up hybrid resin composites.MethodsSHOFU BLOCK HC (Shofu) specimens were blasted with alumina, after which one of two surface treatments was applied: CERA RESIN BOND (Shofu, the Silane group) or HC primer (Shofu, the MMA group). Resin composites made using either Solidex Hardura (SDH, Shofu) or Ceramage Duo (CMD, Shofu) were built up and micro-tensile bond strength (μTBS) values were measured after storage in water for either 24 h or 6 months (n = 24 per group). The fracture surfaces after μTBS measurements and the resin block/build-up resin interfaces were observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM).ResultsThe bond strength of the Silane/SDH group significantly decreased after 6 months (p < 0.001), whereas in the MMA group there was no significant loss after 24 h or 6 months (p = 0.99). In the CMD group, the bond strength after 6 months was significantly lowered in both the Silane group (p < 0.001) and the MMA group (p < 0.001), but the latter still showed greater adhesion. SEM images demonstrated that the matrix resin was partially destroyed at the fracture surfaces of the MMA group and fracture surface unevenness was observed.ConclusionsA primer containing MMA produced stronger bonding to CAD/CAM resin even after long-term aging compared to a silane treatment.  相似文献

ObjectiveEtch and resin infiltration morphologies were compared for three self-etch adhesive (SEA) systems and eleven model etch-and-rinse (ERA) systems using various phosphoric acid (PA) concentrations with Adper Single Bond Plus (SB) adhesive. Matches for the morphologies were made between each SEA system and one of the PA/SB systems and bond strength measurements were made for all the systems. The hypothesis was that similar morphology would result in similar bond strength assuming micro-mechanical bonding is the mechanism of adhesion.MethodsThree specimens were prepared on polished (4000 grit) human enamel for each adhesive system to examine etch and resin infiltration morphology by SEM. For the latter, the adhesive systems were bonded using recommended methods and the enamel was dissolved in acid to reveal the resin. The etch patterns for the SEA systems were determined by rinsing off the material with water and acetone. Polished (4000 grit) human enamel was used with each adhesive system to determine 24-h resin composite to enamel shear bond strengths (SBS). A minimum of 10 specimens were used for each group. Data were analyzed by a one factor ANOVA and Fisher's PLSD post hoc test.ResultsThe SBS to polished enamel for two of the three SEA systems were statistically significantly greater (p < 0.05) than the PA/SB matched systems, indicating that chemical bonding might be partly responsible for the measured bond strength. All three SEA systems provided statistically lower (p < 0.05) SBS values than the PA/SB systems with PA concentrations between 2.5% and 40%.SignificanceAlthough chemical bonding may be present for some SEA systems it does not provide enough increase in bond strength to compete with the bond produced by ERA systems using phosphoric acid etching of enamel.  相似文献

ObjectivesWas produced nanostructured hydroxyapatite (HAnano) and evaluated the influence of its incorporation in an adhesive resin.MethodsHAnano was produced by a flame-based process and was characterized by scanning electron microscopy. The surface area, particle size, micro-Raman and cytotoxicity were evaluated. The organic phase was formulated by mixing 50 wt.% Bis-GMA, 25 wt.% TEGDMA, and 25 wt.% HEMA. HAnano was added at seven different concentrations: 0; 0.5; 1; 2; 5; 10 and 20 wt.%. Adhesive resins with hydroxyapatite incorporation were evaluated for their radiopacity, degree of conversion, flexural strength, softening in solvent and microshear bond strength. The data were analyzed by one-way ANOVA and Tukey's post hoc test (α = 0.05), except for softening in solvent (paired t-test) and cytotoxicity (two-way ANOVA and Bonferroni).ResultsHAnano presented 15.096 m2/g of specific surface area and a mean size of 26.7 nm. The radiopacity values were not different from those of 1-mm aluminium. The degree of conversion ranged from 52.2 to 63.8%. The incorporation of HAnano did not influence the flexural strength, which ranged from 123.3 to 143.4 MPa. The percentage of reduction of the microhardness after immersion in the solvent became lower as the HAnano concentration increased. The addition of 2% nanostructured hydroxyapatite resulted in a higher value of microshear bond strength than the control group (p < 0.05).ConclusionsThe incorporation of 2% of nanostructured hydroxyapatite into an adhesive resin presented the best results.Clinical significanceThe incorporation of nanostructured hydroxyapatite increases the adhesive properties and may be a promising filler for adhesive resin.  相似文献

ObjectiveBond strengths of composite resin to enamel using four self-etch adhesive (SEA) systems were compared with the bond strength of an etch-and-rinse adhesive (ERA) system, for both polished enamel and enamel pre-etched with phosphoric acid. The objective was to determine if the pre-etching would increase the bond strengths of the SEA systems to match the ERA system.MethodsTen specimens were used for each adhesive to determine 24-h resin composite to enamel shear bond strengths (SBS) to polished (4000 grit) human enamel and this was repeated for the SEA systems for enamel that was pre-etched with phosphoric acid for 15 s. SEM analysis was made to assess the degree of etching and resin penetration into enamel for each of the adhesive systems. Data were analyzed by a two factor ANOVA with a Tukey HSD post hoc test.ResultsThe SBS to polished enamel for all four SEA systems were statistically significantly lower (p < 0.05) than the ERA control, but with pre-etched enamel there were no statistically significant differences (p > 0.05) between any of the adhesive systems. All four of the SEA systems demonstrated statistically significant increases in bond strength between bonding to polished and pre-etched enamel, ranging from 27% to 86%. The results of SEM analysis showed no differences in the resin penetration patterns of any of the adhesives for enamel that was etched with phosphoric acid.SignificancePre-etching enamel may enhance the bond strength of SEA systems to values comparable with those found with ERA adhesive systems, which may improve their overall performance in clinical use.  相似文献

Statement of the problemThe effect of long-term water immersion on the shear bond strength between denture base resin and Triad visible-light-polymerized (VLP) direct hard reline resin is not known.PurposeThe aim of this study was to investigate the bonding characteristics of Triad VLP direct hard reline resin to heat-polymerized denture base resin subjected to long-term water immersion.Material and methodsNinety circular disks, 15 mm in diameter and 3 mm thick, of denture base resin were polymerized from a gypsum mold. Sixty specimens were subjected to water immersion and 30 were stored at ambient room temperature for 4 months. Thirty water-immersed specimens were dried with gauze (group 1), while the other 30 water-immersed specimens were dried with a hair dryer (group 2). The dry specimens (n = 30) represented the control group (group 3). All specimens were air abraded and painted with bonding agent before packing Triad VLP direct hard-reline resin. Specimens in each group were subjected to thermal cycling for 50,000 cycles between 4 °C and 60 °C water baths with 1-min dwell time at each temperature. The bond strength at which the bond failed under stress was recorded using a universal testing machine. One-way ANOVA and Tukey post hoc comparison were applied to find significant differences between groups (α = 0.05).ResultsSignificant differences in mean shear bond strength among the specimens existed because of variable water content in the denture base resin (P < 0.05). Group 3 (dry) was higher than group 2 (desiccated), and the lowest was group 1 (saturated).ConclusionThe shear bond strength of Triad VLP direct hard reline resin to denture base resin depended on the water content in the denture base resin. The dry denture base resin demonstrated superior bond strength compared with the desiccated and water-saturated denture base resins.  相似文献

ObjectivesMast cells (MCs) are implicated in the pathogenesis of allergic reactions and inflammatory conditions through the release of inflammatory mediators. So far limited attention has been given to the role of MCs in periodontitis. T cell immunoglobulin mucin domain (TIM)-3 is an immunomodulatory molecule and influences MC function. However, whether TIM-3 is expressed on MCs in the process of human periodontal disease has not been reported. Therefore, we identified MCs by toluidine blue staining and examined the expression of TIM-3 on tryptase-positive MCs in different severities of human chronic periodontitis using double-immunofluorescence staining in this study.Material and methodsA total of 83 human periodontal specimens were involved in this study, including healthy control tissues (n = 25), chronic moderate periodontitis (n = 28), and chronic severe periodontitis (n = 30). The gingival specimens were fixed in 10% buffered formalin, stained with haematoxylin and eosin for histopathology, with toluidine blue for MCs, and with double-immunofluorescence for identification of tryptase-TIM-3 double-positive MCs in gingival tissues.ResultsCompared with healthy controls, the score of gingival tissue inflammation was significantly increased in the chronic moderate periodontitis (P = 0.013) and chronic severe periodontitis (P < 0.0001), and the densities (cells/mm2) of tryptase-TIM-3 double-positive MCs were significantly increased in both the chronic moderate (P = 0.011) and severe periodontitis groups (P < 0.0001). However, compared with the chronic moderate periodontitis group, both the score of gingival tissue inflammation (P = 0.012) and the density of tryptase-TIM-3 double-positive MCs (P = 0.011) in gingival tissue were significantly increased in the severe periodontitis groups.ConclusionSignificantly increased number of tryptase-TIM-3 double-positive MCs had the similar tendency as the severity of periodontitis inflammation in human chronic periodontitis. Our data suggest that TIM-3 may have a role on MCs in human chronic periodontitis.  相似文献

PurposeThis study aimed to evaluate the effect of different storage periods in artificial saliva and thermal cycling on Knoop hardness of 8 commercial brands of resin denture teeth.MethodsEigth different brands of resin denture teeth were evaluated (Artplus group, Biolux group, Biotone IPN group, Myerson group, SR Orthosit group, Trilux group, Trubyte Biotone group, and Vipi Dent Plus group). Twenty-four teeth of each brand had their occlusal surfaces ground flat and were embedded in autopolymerized acrylic resin. After polishing, the teeth were submitted to different conditions: (1) immersion in distilled water at 37 ± 2 °C for 48 ± 2 h (control); (2) storage in artificial saliva at 37 ± 2 °C for 15, 30 and 60 days, and (3) thermal cycling between 5 and 55 °C with 30-s dwell times for 5000 cycles. Knoop hardness test was performed after each condition. Data were analyzed with two-way ANOVA and Tukey's test (α = .05).ResultsIn general, SR Orthosit group presented the highest statistically significant Knoop hardness value while Myerson group exhibited the smallest statistically significant mean (P < .05) in the control period, after thermal cycling, and after all storage periods. The Knoop hardness means obtained before thermal cycling procedure (20.34 ± 4.45 KHN) were statistically higher than those reached after thermal cycling (19.77 ± 4.13 KHN). All brands of resin denture teeth were significantly softened after storage period in artificial saliva.ConclusionStorage in saliva and thermal cycling significantly reduced the Knoop hardness of the resin denture teeth. SR Orthosit denture teeth showed the highest Knoop hardness values regardless the condition tested.  相似文献

ObjectivesTo compare polymerization efficiency of resin composite basing materials when light-cured through resin composite and fiber reinforced composite (FRC) by testing microhardness.MethodsSimulated indirect restorations were prepared by application of resin composite (Clearfil AP-X) or FRC (EverStick) to nylon rings with 1.5 mm thickness and 8 mm diameter, followed by light-curing. Resin composite basing material (Clearfil Majesty Flow or Clearfil AP-X) was applied to identical rings and light-cured through the simulated indirect restorations with exposure times of 20, 40, or 60 s. Light-curing though a ring without resin material (=no indirect restoration) served as control. For each combination of basing material and indirect restoration 10 specimens were prepared for each exposure time. Top and bottom surface Vickers microhardness numbers (VHNs) of basing materials were recorded after 24 h.ResultsAfter 60 s exposure time, VHNs with indirect FRC were not different from control VHNs, while VHNs with indirect resin composite were significantly lower (p < 0.001). Linear regression analysis revealed that resin composite basing material used had the greatest effect on top and bottom VHNs (p < 0.001). The presence of an indirect restoration resulted in decreased VHNs (p < 0.001), with resin composite resulting in lower VHNs when compared to FRC. Moreover, a longer exposure time resulted in increased VHNs (p < 0.001).SignificanceResults suggest that polymerization of resin composite basing materials is more effective when light-curing through an FRC than through a resin composite indirect restoration. Prolonging of exposure time, however, is necessary when compared to light-curing without presence of indirect restoration material.  相似文献

ObjectivesThe jaw-stretch reflex (JSR) was studied in both patients and healthy participants in order to investigate the possible long-term impact of orthognathic surgery on the motor function of the masticatory system.DesignJSR was measured in patients before surgery (PC), 1 year after surgery (PS) and in healthy controls (HC) (N = 31 in each group). JSR was evoked by a standardized stretch device and recorded bilaterally from masseter and anterior temporalis muscles using surface electromyography (EMG).ResultsThe peak-to-peak amplitude (which was normalized to pre-stimulus EMG activity) of JSRs in PC and PS were significantly smaller than in HC (P < 0.001; P < 0.001). The onset latency in PS was significantly longer compared with HC (P < 0.05). The duration of JSR in PS was significantly longer than in HC and PC (P < 0.001; P < 0.05).ConclusionPatients with dentofacial deformities are characterized by reduced JSR amplitude. The delayed onset and elongated duration of JSR might be potential indicators of a long-term surgical impact on the motor function of the masticatory system.  相似文献

ObjectiveChronic stress can alter nociceptive sensitivity. However, the effect of stress exposure on dental nociception has been less addressed. Therefore, the present study investigated the effects of chronic exposures to some social and psychological stresses on pulpal nociceptive responses.DesignThe stress groups were constructed as follows: forced swimming (n = 6), restraint (n = 6), and mild (n = 10) and severe (n = 15) crowding stresses. Rats were subjected to stress for 1 h per day for a week. At the end of the stress session, pulp irritation was induced by intradental application of capsaicin (100 μg). There were another capsaicin or capsaicin plus stress training groups that received articaine 5 min before the administration of capsaicin. Nociceptive responses were recorded for 40 min. The time (in s) of continuous shaking of the lower jaw and excessive grooming and rubbing of the mouth near the procedure site was measured as nociceptive behaviors. Data was analyzed using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by post hoc Tukey’s test.ResultsSignificant nociceptive responses were evoked by the administration of capsaicin. Exposures to forced swimming (p < 0.01), restraint (p < 0.001), and both mild and severe crowding stresses (p < 0.05) exaggerated capsaicin-induced nociceptive reaction. There was, however, no significant difference in nociceptive reaction time between the different stress groups. Articaine buccal infiltration attenuated nociceptive time in capsaicin and capsaicin plus stress training groups (p < 0.001).ConclusionsThe current data support the association between chronic stress exposures and nociceptive behavior following intradental capsaicin administration.  相似文献

ObjectiveDentin remineralization at the bonded interface would protect it from external risk factors, therefore, would enhance the longevity of restoration and combat secondary caries. Dental biofilm, as one of the critical biological factors in caries formation, should not be neglected in the assessment of caries preventive agents. In this work, the remineralization effectiveness of demineralized human dentin in a multi-species dental biofilm environment via an adhesive containing nanoparticles of amorphous calcium phosphate (NACP) and dimethylaminohexadecyl methacrylate (DMAHDM) was investigated.MethodsDentin demineralization was promoted by subjecting samples to a three-species acidic biofilm containing Streptococcus mutans, Streptococcus sanguinis, Streptococcus gordonii for 24 h. Samples were divided into a control group, a DMAHDM adhesive group, an NACP group, and an NACP + DMAHDM adhesive group. A bonded model containing a control-bonded group, a DMAHDM-bonded group, an NACP-bonded group, and an NACP + DMAHDM-bonded group was also included in this study. All samples were subjected to a remineralization protocol consisting of 4-h exposure per 24-h period in brain heart infusion broth plus 1% sucrose (BHIS) followed by immersion in artificial saliva for the remaining period. The pH of BHIS after 4-h immersion was measured every other day. After 14 days, the biofilm was assessed for colony-forming unit (CFU) count, lactic acid production, live/dead staining, and calcium and phosphate content. The mineral changes in the demineralized dentin samples were analyzed by transverse microradiography.ResultsThe in vitro experiment results showed that the NACP + DMAHDM adhesive effectively achieved acid neutralization, decreased biofilm colony-forming unit (CFU) count, decreased biofilm lactic acid production, and increased biofilm calcium and phosphate content. The NACP + DMAHDM adhesive group had higher remineralization value than the NACP or DMAHDM alone adhesive group.SignificanceThe NACP + DMAHDM adhesive was effective in remineralizing dentin lesion in a biofilm model. It is promising to use NACP + DMAHDM adhesive to protect bonded interface, inhibit secondary caries, and prolong the longevity of restoration.  相似文献

ObjectivesThe purpose of this work was to investigate the effects of layering techniques in resin composite restorations on the micro-tensile bond strength to the dentin of the occlusal cavity.MethodsHuman premolars were extracted and randomly divided into four groups. The occlusal enamel was then removed to expose a flat superficial dentin surface. Cavities 3.5 mm long and 3.5 mm wide were prepared to a depth 3 mm below the dentin surface. The adhesive Single Bond was applied according to the manufacturer's instructions. The teeth were then restored with Z100 resin composite as follows: Group 1 was restored in horizontal increments (three layers). Groups 2 and 3 were restored in different oblique increments (three layers). Group 4 was restored in oblique increments (four layers). After 24 h storage at 37 °C in water, all the teeth were sectioned to obtain bar-shaped specimens with a bonded surface area of approximately 0.9 mm × 0.9 mm. Dentin micro-tensile bond strength was measured at a crosshead speed of 0.5 mm/min. The results obtained were statistically analyzed using one-way ANOVA and SNK test at a significance level of P = 0.05. All fractures were then observed under a scanning electron microscope (SEM).ResultsThe results showed that there is a significant difference between the strength of the micro-tensile bonds to the dentin of occlusal cavities depending on which of the four layering restorative techniques was used (P < 0.01). SEM observation showed that failure patterns were most evidently interfacial cohesive failure.SignificanceLayering techniques in resin composite restorations affected the micro-tensile bond strength between the resin composite and the dentin. But the outcomes related to only Single Bond, as the same using other adhesives might have different outcomes.  相似文献

ObjectiveThis study provides an in vivo evaluation of the inflammatory response, levels of cell proliferation and apoptosis, and the presence of necrosis after dental bleaching with two concentrations of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2).DesignWistar rats were divided into Control (placebo gel), BLUE (20% H2O2, 1 × 50 min), and MAXX (35% H2O2, 3 × 15 min) groups. At 2 and 30 days, the rats were killed (n = 10). The jaws were processed for histology analysis and PCNA and Caspase-3-cleaved immunohistochemistry, and data were submitted to the Mann-Whitney or ANOVA test (P < 0.05).ResultsAt 2 days, the MAXX group showed necrosis and the BLUE group revealed moderate inflammation on the occlusal third of the crown (P < 0.05). At 30 days, tertiary dentin had formed and there was an absence of inflammation. The level of cell proliferation was higher in the middle third of the BLUE group (P < 0.05), and cervical of MAXX at 2 days (P < 0.05), decreasing at 30 days. The apoptosis was present at 2 days, particularly in the cervical third of the crown in the bleached groups (P < 0.05), with a decrease only at 30 days in the BLUE group (P < 0.05).ConclusionsThe concentration of H2O2 influences effects on the pulp tissue, where a higher concentration of H2O2 can cause necrosis in the pulp and a prolonged effect within the apoptotic process; lower concentrations of H2O2 provide moderate inflammation, cell proliferation and apoptosis with a reduction of these processes over time.  相似文献

ObjectivesTo evaluate the effects of proanthocyanidins (PA) and photoinitiator type on the degree of conversion (DC) and polymerization rate (PR) of a model dental adhesive.MethodsThree types of photo-initiation systems were introduced into the Bis-GMA/HEMA co-monomer mixture, resulting in four resin formulations including CQ/A (0.5 wt% CQ and EDMAB), CQ/A/I-1 (0.5 wt% CQ, EDMAB and DPIHP), CQ/A/I-2 (1.0 wt% CQ, EDMAB and DPIHP), and TPO (2.1 wt% TPO). For each resin formulation, adhesives containing 0%, 2.5%, 5% and 10% of PA with respect to the weight of resin were produced after mixing the resin with various amount of PA/ethanol solution. When light-cured, the RP and DC of each adhesive was determined using ATR-FTIR spectroscopy.ResultsAcross and within the initiator groups, the DC followed the general trend of CQ/A < CQ/A/I-1 < CQ/A/I-2 < TPO and 0-PA > 2.5-PA > 5-PA > 10-PA, respectively. The change of PR with respect to photo-initiation systems and PA content was in a similar but less pronounced pattern.ConclusionPA hampered the polymerization of all adhesives regardless of photoinitiators used. The initiator formulations CQ/A/I-2 and TPO are better fit for PA-containing adhesives, both leading to >65% DC in the presence of 5% PA.Clinical significanceThe inclusion of PA in dental adhesives has been limited by its interference with the light-curing of adhesive resins. This study found photo-initiation formulations that could maintain a satisfactory degree of monomer conversion while a significant amount of PA is incorporated.  相似文献

ObjectivesTo evaluate the dentine microtensile bond strength (μTBS), nanoleakage (NL), degree of conversion (DC) within the hybrid layer for etch-and-rinse and self-etch strategies of universal simplified adhesive systems.Methodsforty caries free extracted third molars were divided into 8 groups for μTBS (n = 5), according to the adhesive and etching strategy: Clearfil SE Bond [CSE] and Adper Single Bond 2 [SB], as controls; Peak Universal Adhesive System, self-etch [PkSe] and etch-and-rinse [PkEr]; Scotchbond Universal Adhesive, self-etch [ScSe] and etch-and-rinse [ScEr]; All Bond Universal, self-etch [AlSe] and etch-and-rinse [AlEr]. After restorations were constructed, specimens were stored in water (37 °C/24 h) and then resin–dentine sticks were prepared (0.8 mm2). The sticks were tested under tension at 0.5 mm/min. Some sticks from each tooth group were used for DC determination by micro-Raman spectroscopy or nanoleakage evaluation (NL). The pH for each solution was evaluated using a pH metre. Data were analyzed with one-way ANOVA and Tukey's test (α = 0.05).ResultsFor μTBS, only PkSe and PkEr were similar to the respective control groups (p > 0.05). AlSe showed the lowest μTBS mean (p < 0.05). For NL, ScEr, ScSe, AlSe, and AlEr showed the lowest NL similar to control groups (p < 0.05). For DC, only ScSe showed lower DC than the other materials (p < 0.05).ConclusionsPerformance of universal adhesives was shown to be material-dependent. The results indicate that this new category of universal adhesives used on dentine as either etch-and-rinse or self-etch strategies were inferior as regards at least one of the properties evaluated (μTBS, NL and DC) in comparison with the control adhesives (CSE for self-etch and SB for etch-and-rinse).  相似文献

ObjectiveThe aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of different photoinitiator systems on the cell viability and physico-chemical properties of an experimental adhesive resin of a two-step self-etch adhesive system.MethodsEight photoinitiators and coinitiators were evaluated, camphorquinone (CQ); ethyl-dimethylamino benzoate (EDAB); diphenyliodonium hexafluorophosphate (DPIHFP); 1,3-benzodioxole (BDO); piperonyl alcohol (AP); 1,3-diethyl-2-thiobarbituric acid (TBA); bisphenyl phosphinic oxide (BAPO); and diphenyl phosphinic oxide (TPO). Seven experimental adhesive resins (Bis-GMA:TEGDMA – 1:1 by wt%) were formulated by varying the initiation systems: RCQ+EDAB (control), RCQ+EDAB+DPHFP, RCQ+BDO, RCQ+AP, RCQ+TBA, RBAPO and RTPO. The cell viability of the different photoinitiators in their isolated form and after being incorporated into the adhesive resins was evaluated using the MTT assay. The degree of conversion within the hybrid layer (DC in situ) was evaluated by micro-Raman spectroscopy; the polymerization kinetics, by FTIR spectroscopy. The water sorption (Wsp) and solubility (Wsl) were calculated by using percentage of gain and loss of mass. Data were analyzed using One-way ANOVA and Kruskal-Wallis tests (α = 0.05).ResultsWhen evaluated in their isolated form, the DPIHFP was considered cytotoxic in all concentrations evaluated. When incorporated into and adhesive resin, RCQ+TBA presented higher cell viability values than control and the highest values of DC in situ (p < 0.05). Additionally, the use of CQ + TBA showed a higher cell viability when compared with the conventional CQ + EDAB system.SignificanceThe pair CQ + TBA could be potentially useful in the development of materials with improved biocompatibility.  相似文献
