The effects of diquertin on the content of cyclic nucleotides in human platelets was studied. Diquertin in a concentration of 5 mM increased the content of cAMP and cGMP in native and thrombin-activated platelets probably due to inhibition of phosphodiesterase. Increasing the concentration of diquertin above 5 mM did not potentiate this effect. The antiaggregation effect of diquertin was probably associated with the increase in platelet levels of cyclic nucleotides. The effect of enteral oxygen therapy was studied in rats with acute degeneration of the liver caused by CCl4. Intragastric injection of oxygen foam reduced the severity of poisoning and led to more rapid and complete recovery of the intensity of bile secretion, synthesis of primary bile acids, and their conjugation with amino acids, and improved the stabilizing properties of the bile.Department of Pharmacology, Ternopol' Medical Institute. Summary It is possible to perform continuous quantitativeP

2 measurements on vasodilated skin by means of surface Pt electrodes according to Clark when the electrode is fixed to the skin with a synthetic plastic material and in situ calibration is performed. A new in situ calibration of theP
O
2 electrode is described. At first the skinP
O
2 increases with O2 inspiration. After perfusion stop the skinP
O
2 shows a linear decrease because of the skin respiration, down to aP
O
2 at which hemoglobin liberates chemically bound O2. As thisP
O
2 value of hemoglobin is known it is possible to use it for calibrating the electrode. TheP
O
2 of normal skin is about 0–7 Torr. After vasodilation obtained by rubbing with a nicotinic acid derivate (Finalgon®, Anasco, Wiesbaden),P
O
2 increases to a mean value of 38.1 (±8.1) Torr (n=77). Under these conditions, skinP
O

The effect of cyclic AMP (cAMP), dibutyryl-cAMP, and theophylline (an inhibitor of phosphodiesterase, the enzyme converting adenosine-3, 5-monophosphate into adenosine-5-monophosphate) on the intensity of proliferation (as reflected in the increase in the nucleic acid content in the culture), DNA synthesis (thymidine-H3 incorporation), and transplantation properties (ability to repopulatein vivo) of leukemic cells of strain L-5178 was studied. The experiments showed that cAMP in a concentration of 0.8 mM inhibits thymidine-H3 incorporation considerably, retards proliferation, and reduces the transplantability of the leukemic cells. Repeated partial hepatectomy (PH), performed 24 h after a 70% PH, had the following effect on the mitotic cell cycle in the regenerating rat liver: it delayed (by about 2 h) the cells in the G2 period, left the S period almost unchanged, and delayed the cells for 6–8 h in the G1 period. A mock repeated operation had a similar effect. This indicates that the influence of the repeated PH on the mitotic cell cycle in the regenerating liver is due to operation stress. A reduction in partial pressure of oxygen in the environment may be caused by a gain in altitude, which reduces the atmospheric pressure; it may also be caused by the carbon dioxide generated from breathing in an enclosed space. Does inhaling oxygen of lower partial pressure affect the oxygen-carrying function of haemoglobin in vivo? This study uses non-invasive multiwavelength photoplethysmography to measure the effects that inhaling this type of oxygen can have on the plethysmography of the appendages of the body (fingertips). The results indicate that under low partial pressure of oxygen, be it the result of a gain in carbon dioxide concentration or altitude, the change in visible light absorption is the biggest for short wavelengths (approximately 620 or 640?nm) near deoxyhaemoglobin, which has higher absorption coefficient. Moreover, increasing carbon dioxide concentration from 5000 to 10,000?ppm doubly reduces the absorption rate of these short wavelengths. 相似文献

The effect of sensitization to horse serum, brucellas, and BCG, and also the effect of allergic reactions induced by these antigens on the partial pressure of oxygen and myoglobin concentration in muscle tissue were studied. The myoglobin concentration was found to be reduced during the formation of increased sensitivity but only in the case of sensitization by living microbial strains. Allergic reactions of immediate and delayed types caused a decrease in the myoglobin concentration both in the myocardium and skeletal muscles.
