Background and Aim
Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) bacteria convert urea to ammonia, which has been implicated in causation of hepatic encephalopathy in patients with liver cirrhosis. The role of H. pylori infection in causation of minimal hepatic encephalopathy (MHE) has not been well studied. We looked at the relationship of H. pylori infection with MHE and hyperammonemia in patients with liver cirrhosis and the effects of anti-H. pylori treatment in patients with MHE and H. pylori infection. 相似文献2.
Background
Clarithromycin therapy is effective in eradicating Helicobacter pylori. However, the resistance of H. pylori to clarithromycin is increasingly reported. The present study aimed to characterize the types of mutations present in the 23S rRNA genes of isolates of clarithromycin-resistant H. pylori from the UAE. 相似文献3.
Background
Testing and treatment for Helicobacter pylori has become widely accepted as the approach of choice for patients with chronic dyspepsia but no alarming features. We evaluated H. pylori status among outpatients with uninvestigated dyspepsia in Kuwait. 相似文献4.

Background
Appetite and energy expenditure are regulated in part by ghrelin and leptin produced in the gastric mucosa, which may be modified by H. pylori colonization. We prospectively evaluated the effect of H. pylori eradication on meal-associated changes in serum ghrelin and leptin levels, and body weight. 相似文献5.

Background
Recently, a significant relationship between gastric cancer and Helicobacter pylori infection has been proven. The purpose of this study was to elucidate the actual conditions of H. pylori infection in Japanese teenagers. 相似文献6.

Background
Guidelines for management of peptic ulcer patients after the treatment are largely directed to detection of H. pylori infection using only non-invasive tests. We compared the diagnostic value of non-invasive and endoscopy based H. pylori tests in a late post-treatment setting. 相似文献8.

Background
Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection up-regulates the expression of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), which may be involved in chronic inflammation, ulceration, and even cancer development. This study aimed to test if serum levels of MMP-3, -7, and -9 are correlated with different clinical outcomes in H. pylori-infected subjects and if these are predictive of progression to H. pylori-related gastric cancer. 相似文献9.
Background
Helicobacter pylori, occurring throughout the world and causing gastroduodenal diseases, is one of the most common chronic bacterial agents in humans. The purpose of this study was to measure the general practitioners' (GPs) knowledge and practices pertaining to H. pylori infection. 相似文献10.

Purpose
The proteins expressed in gastric epithelial cells infected with Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) may determine the clinical outcome such as chronic gastritis, peptic ulcer, and gastric carcinoma. The present study aims to determine the differentially expressed proteins in human gastric epithelial AGS cells that were infected with H. pylori in a Korean isolate, a cagA+, vacA s1b m2 iceA1 H. pylori by proteomic analysis. The differentially expressed proteins, whose expression levels were more or less than twofold in H. pylori-infected cells, were analyzed. 相似文献11.

Background
Obesity, gastroesophageal reflux, and Barrett’s esophagus have all been linked to esophageal adenocarcinoma. In addition, the decline in Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection in affluent societies has also been suggested to be a major factor in the recent rise in the incidence of esophageal adenocarcinoma. If H. pylori infection has a protective role, populations with a naturally low prevalence of H. pylori infection such as the ethnic Malays of Northeastern Peninsular Malaysia should have high rates of esophageal adenocarcinoma. 相似文献12.

Background
Helicobacter pylori is a common pathogen, and its prevalence varies with socioeconomic conditions (10–80%). It has recently been recognized as a class I carcinogen in relation to gastric cancer. The aim of this study was to investigate the presence of Helicobacter pylori in neoplasms of the colon by immunohistochemical methods. 相似文献13.

Background
A strict correlation between Helicobacter pylori eradication and an increase in platelet count has previously been reported in patients with chronic idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). To clarify the pathogenesis of H. pylori-induced ITP and the factors predicting the platelet response to H. pylori eradication therapy, we evaluated the markers of atrophic gastritis in ITP patients. 相似文献14.

Background
The prevalence of H. pylori is as high as 60–70% in Chinese population. Although duodenal ulcer and gastric cancer are both caused by H. pylori, they are at opposite ends of the spectrum and as such are considered mutually exclusive. Duodenal ulcer promoting (dupA) gene was reported to be associated with duodenal ulcer development. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of dupA gene of Helicobacter pylori in patients with various gastroduodenal diseases and to explore the association between the gene and other virulence factors. 相似文献15.

Background
The transitional-CpG sites between weakly methylated genes and densely methylated retroelements are overmethylated in the gastric mucosa infected with Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) and they are undermethylated in the gastric cancers depending on the level of loss of heterozygosity (LOH) events. This study delineated the transitional-CpG methylation patterns of CpG-island-containing and -lacking genes in view of the retroelements. 相似文献16.

Purpose
Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is considered to be a major factor contributing to gastric mucosal damage by stimulating mucosal macrophage production of inflammatory cytokines, including tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), but the inflammatory responses within the gastric mucosa in vivo are not well known. Therefore, this study was designed to investigate the expression of TNF-α induced by H. pylori infection which is involved in the tumor initiation and promotion of gastric carcinogenesis. 相似文献19.
