Background
The classical didactic lecture has been the cornerstone of the theoretical undergraduate medical education. Their efficacy however reduces due to reduced interaction and short attention span of the students. It is hypothesized that the interactive response pad obviates some of these drawbacks. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of an interactive response system by comparing it with conventional classroom teaching.Methods
A prospective comparative longitudinal study was conducted on 192 students who were exposed to either conventional or interactive teaching over 20 classes. Pre-test, Post-test and retentions test (post 8–12 weeks) scores were collated and statistically analysed. An independent observer measured number of student interactions in each class.Results
Pre-test scores from both groups were similar (p = 0.71). There was significant improvement in both post test scores when compared to pre-test scores in either method (p < 0.001). The interactive post-test score was better than conventional post test score (p < 0.001) by 8–10% (95% CI-difference of means – 8.2%–9.24%–10.3%). The interactive retention test score was better than conventional retention test score (p < 0.001) by 15–18% (95% CI-difference of means – 15.0%–16.64%–18.2%). There were 51 participative events in the interactive group vs 25 in the conventional group.Conclusions
The Interactive Response Pad method was efficacious in teaching. Students taught with the interactive method were likely to score 8–10% higher (statistically significant) in the immediate post class time and 15–18% higher (statistically significant) after 8–12 weeks. 目的 探讨在线互动式案例教学方法在医学专科教育生理学教学中的应用效果及对学生综合学习能力的影响.方法 将学生随机分成对照组和实验组,对照组采用传统讲授式教学方法,实验组采用QQ学习群在线互动式案例教学方法,由同一名教师教授消化系统章节内容,通过问卷调查、课后测验评价教学效果.结果 QQ在线互动式案例教学方法有效地调动了学生学习的兴趣和主动性,锻炼了学生综合学习能力,提高了学习效果.实验组学生的课后测验平均成绩与优秀率均明显高于对照组学生,差异具有统计学意义(P<0.05).结论 QQ学习群在线互动式案例教学方法有助于锻炼医学生综合学习能力,提高生理学教学质量,值得深入研究和完善。 相似文献

For the past several years, the University of Maryland School of Medicine has operated a successful and efficient basic science peer tutorial program through the management of the Office of Medical Education. During the 1981-82 and 1982-83 academic years, 122 tutoring dyads were formed to take advantage of the tutoring program in nine of the 10 basic science courses encountered during the first two years of medical training. The success of the program is evident in that tutored students received passing grades in 102 (84 percent) of the courses in which they were tutored. In this paper, the authors discuss the systematic procedure of managing a peer tutorial program and the potential positive effects the program has on student tutors as well as on the medical student in academic difficulty. 相似文献

The effectiveness of a research program for minority high school students was evaluated. The program, supported by funding from the National Institutes of Health, was begun in 1982; during the subsequent five years, there were 59 applicants and 38 participants in the program. Of the responding 20 participants, 12 were pursuing careers in science and medicine, and half of the 16 respondents with career plans reported that the program had influenced their career decisions. Overall and in each year, black male students were underrepresented in both the applicant pool and the participants as compared with the metropolitan high school population. 相似文献

Objective: The objective of the study was to know about the use of alcohol among physicians and factors that were related to it. Methods: This was a cross sectional study conducted among the physicians in a medical school of eastern Nepal. A semi structured questionnaire was used to collect information. Results: There were 55 subjects in the study. Half of them were between 35-45 years age group and one fourth among them were female. There were more than 88% physicians consuming alcohol for more than 10 years. One third used to preferred whisky as their favorites drink. Use of alcohol among them was due to peer pressure and to become a social human being. Most of them drink alcohol occasionally with an average amount 30-60ml in a sitting and usually in the evening. Most of the time, they use alcohol either in parties or at home. Conclusion: Alcohol use in Nepal is very much prevalent. The use of alcohol is socially accepted in many communities. Uses of alcohol by physicians have direct effect on their health as well as the health of many people because they are role model for many people. They are also in direct contact with the patients. 为了更加准确地了解医学生智慧教室的使用需求,为智慧教室管理者在制定智慧教室环境优化策略时提供科学依据,本研究采用问卷调查法,从硬件设施、信息技术、教学法、医学智慧教室特色功能4个维度23项指标展开调查,采用KANO模型分析技术和满意度、重要度象限图对1 074份问卷进行数据分析。发现23项需求指标中,必备属性6项、期望属性7项、魅力属性9项、无差异属性1项。根据KANO模型理论重要度排序,智慧教室管理者应首先改善必备属性相关指标质量,优先提升期望属性相关指标质量,最后满足魅力属性相关指标需求。文章从学校顶层设计、教师和管理者3个层面提出了智慧教室相关政策和建设建议。 相似文献
