卡波济肉瘤5例报告

卡波济肉瘤(Kaposi′s sarcoma.KS)又名多发性特发性出血性肉瘤(multipe idio-pathichemorrhagic sarcoma).1972年Kaposi′s首先报告了6例[1].该病较少见,但近年由于艾滋病迅速蔓延,其发病率明显上升,我国已陆续报告27例[2,3].尤其目前免疫功能异常疾病、器官移植、淋巴瘤、白血病及自身免疫性疾病等增多,以及激素及/或免疫抑制剂的应用都可能使该病增多.本文报告本院近20年确诊的5例经典型KS.     

Diagnostic implications of genital Kaposi's sarcoma

Genital Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) before the AIDS epidemic was rarely seen in Uganda although a case was seen in 1973, 1982, 1983 and 1985. Eight cases were seen in 1986 and another 17 cases have been documented since the beginning of 1987. Of the 29 patients, 23 were males, 6 females (M:F = 3.8:1); median age 29 years (range 7-70 years). All except 8 males were under 40 years. Six patients had pure nodular disease, while the rest had mixed clinical type. The external genitalia was involved in nodular disease in 15 patients, 12 had infiltrative disease and 6 had ulcerative disease. Florid and plaque were seen in one case each. Mixed cellularity was typed in 13 patients. 19(70.4%) were positive for HIV serology (ELISA Wellcome kit) of whom 13(61.9%) were males. All females were positive. The patient who presented in 1973 remains alive and disease free 13.5 years making it unlikely that he had AIDS. It appears therefore that genital KS is a feature of HIV associated KS and this mode of presentation is new in Uganda.     

Kaposi's sarcoma associated with hairy cell leukaemia

The case is described of a patient with hairy cell leukaemia who later developed Kaposi''s sarcoma. This association has not been reported before and the coexistence of hairy cell leukaemia with another tumour is very rare. The implications of this unusual association are briefly discussed.     

KAPOSI’S SARCOMA AFTER STEROID THETAPY FOR PEMPHIGUS FOLIACEUS

A patient with pemphigus foliaceus, derived from pemphigus erythematosus , developed Kaposi’s sarcoma characterized by wide-spread skin nodules on the extremities after 5-month treatment with large doses of prednisone. The patient died one year later. We conclude that the immunosuppressive treatment with prolonged large doses of prednisone is attributable to the impairment of cellular immunity and the evolution of Kaposi’s sarcoma.     

Kaposi's sarcoma: case report and treatment options

Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) is strongly associated with Human Herpes Virus 8 (HHV8) and Human Immunodeficiency Virus infection (HIV). It was the first malignancy to be linked with Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS). We report a case of Kaposi's sarcoma in a newly diagnosed retroviral homosexual patient with CD4 count of 21. He had multiple firm discrete violaceous plaques and nodules scattered over the face, scalp, hard palate, trunk and genitalia. Biopsy of a skin nodule over the trunk and a biopsy of a lesion from the gastric mucosa confirmed Kaposi's sarcoma. He was started on Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy (HAART) and cryotherapy (liquid nitrogen) was given for the lesions over the skin. He responded well to treatment. Liquid nitrogen is a useful adjuvant treatment for Kaposi's sarcoma.
