Purpose
Conventional thyroid surgery is one of the most common operations performed worldwide. The conventional technique involves placement of small or large cutaneous flaps. However, the published data regarding flap use for thyroidectomy are contradictory. This study presents the results using a flapless conventional thyroidectomy and the efficacy of this approach in a thyroidectomy. In addition, the study determined whether there are any advantages associated with the use of this approach in comparison to conventional thyroid surgery. 相似文献2.

Background
Surgery as definitive treatment of pediatric Graves’ disease is recommended for children and adolescents experiencing adverse effects of thionamides or disease relapse after at least 2 years of medical treatment. In addition, it is indicated in patients with a large goiter or with suspicious nodules. Total or near-total thyroidectomy should be performed, since subtotal thyroidectomy is associated with a high risk of relapse in this group. Patients should be referred to surgeons experienced in thyroid surgery because studies show that children and adolescents have a higher complication rate than adults. 相似文献3.

Background
Robotic thyroidectomy using a gasless transaxillary approach, first described in 2008, has become popular. This study compared outcomes, including postoperative distress and patient satisfaction, for patients undergoing robotic thyroidectomy with those for patients treated by conventional open thyroidectomy. 相似文献4.

Background
One of the advocated benefits of minimally invasive video-assisted thyroidectomy (MIVAT) is reduction of postoperative pain. We compared in a prospective study pain after video-assisted and conventional thyroidectomy (CT). 相似文献5.

Background
This prospective, randomized study was designed to objectively demonstrate that minimally invasive video-assisted thyroidectomy (MIVAT) improves postoperative pain compared with standard thyroidectomy, via the dosage of biochemical mediators measured before and after surgery. 相似文献6.
Background
There is concern regarding the oncological effectiveness of minimally invasive video-assisted thyroidectomy (VAT) for thyroid carcinoma. This study compared the surgical results of VAT and traditional thyroidectomy in patients with small papillary thyroid carcinomas (PTC). 相似文献7.

Objectives
Robotic thyroidectomy and lymph node dissection is rapidly emerging as an alternative to conventional endoscopic thyroidectomy for thyroid carcinoma. Robot techniques incorporate the advantages of endoscopic procedures while overcoming some of the problems. We present the largest multi-institution clinical study of robotic thyroidectomy for thyroid carcinomas. The robotic thyroidectomy involved gasless transaxillary approach using the da Vinci surgical robot system. 相似文献8.

Background
By comparison with the conventional surgical approach to thyroidectomy, scarless (in the neck) endoscopic thyroidectomy (SET) has a superior cosmetic result but a very long learning curve. The objective of the present study was to compare surgical outcomes of SET performed by an experienced surgeon with the outcomes of conventional thyroidectomy. 相似文献9.

Background
The incidence of wound morbidity (WM) after conventional thyroidectomy (CT) is 2 to 7%. This study evaluated the rate of WM after video-assisted thyroidectomy (VAT), with emphasis on surgical-site infections (SSIs). 相似文献10.

Background
Robotic thyroidectomy (RT) has recently emerged as a viable approach to thyroid surgery, resulting in better functional and cosmetic outcomes than afforded by open thyroidectomy (OT). The present multicenter study assessed the perioperative outcomes of RT and compared physician perspectives on the musculoskeletal ergonomic parameters associated with OT, endoscopic thyroidectomy (ET), and RT. 相似文献11.
Background
The operative cavity during endoscopic thyroidectomy is maintained mainly by CO2 insufflation. We designed this study to explore the effects of CO2 insufflation on the cerebrum during endoscopic thyroidectomy in a porcine model. 相似文献12.

Background
The exclusion of cancer in endemic goiter is often difficult mainly because of the high number of nodules and the as-yet unclear natural history of diagnosed cancer in endemic goiter patients. In a large number of consecutive patients who were to undergo total thyroidectomy for endemic multinodular goiter, we assessed indications for surgery and thyroid cancer outcome. 相似文献13.

Background
Traditional open surgery for lateral neck dissection for patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) requires a large incision to obtain adequate exposure of the surgical field, leaving an unsightly scar. We applied scarless (in the neck) endoscopic thyroidectomy (SET) via breast approach to lateral neck dissection for PTC and evaluated its feasibility and safety. 相似文献14.
Background
Nausea, vomiting, and pain frequently occur after thyoidectomy. Little evidence exists regarding the effects of administrating a combination of dexamethasone and tropisetron to patients undergoing thyroidectomy. We aimed to evaluate the effects of dexamethasone and tropisetron on thyroidectomy outcomes. 相似文献15.

Purpose
To retrospectively evaluate the surgical completeness of minimally invasive total thyroidectomy for small (<20 mm) differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC). 相似文献16.
Purpose
To compare the rates of postsurgical complications following a primary and completed thyroidectomy for multinodular goiter (MNG). 相似文献17.
Background
In the United States, Graves’ disease is most commonly treated with radioiodine, yet thyroidectomy remains an important option for correcting hyperthyroidism. In many countries, limited access to thyroid hormone makes subtotal thyroidectomy the procedure of choice. In the United States, where levothyroxine is widely available, we hypothesized that total (TT) or near-total thyroidectomy (NT) is superior to subtotal thyroidectomy (ST) for long-term control of Graves’ disease. 相似文献18.

Background
Although video-assisted (VA) thyroidectomy emerged as effective treatment for selected patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC), some concerns remain about obtaining adequate central neck node clearance. We compared patients who underwent VA and conventional total thyroidectomy (TT) and central compartment dissection (CCD) for PTC. 相似文献19.

Background
Postoperative pain following endoscopic thyroidectomy, although less severe than after open methods, is still a source of marked discomfort and surgical stress. This clinical trial was conducted to determine if repeated intravenous paracetamol could decrease postoperative pain and rescue analgesic requirements after robot-assisted endoscopic thyroidectomy via the transaxillary approach. 相似文献20.
