In this study, the corrosion performance of AA2014 aluminum alloy was enhanced by coating the alloy with a layer containing silica (SiC) that was formed by the plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) process. The PEO process was performed with different electrical parameters (frequency, current mode, and duty ratio) and both with and without SiC to investigate the microstructural and electrochemical differences in the coated samples produced from the process. The microstructure and composition of the PEO coatings were studied using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). A potentiodynamic polarization test and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) were used to investigate the electrochemical behavior of the AA2014-PEO-coated samples. The potentiodynamic polarization showed that the SiC-PEO-coated samples had a significantly decreased corrosion rate (99.8%) compared with the uncoated AA2014 Al alloy. Our results showed that the coats containing SiC possessed a much higher corrosion resistance than both the uncoated AA2014 Al alloy (8,344,673%) and the SiC-free coatings, which possess low corrosion resistance, because of their higher chemical stability and more compact microstructure.  相似文献

AA7075 alloys are high strength alloys and are used as an important material for making engineering parts. Forged AA7075 alloys showed significantly decreased toughness when the material was hot deformed at a high temperature. This study investigated the effects of forging parameters on the tensile properties and the microstructure of AA7075 forgings. The tensile properties and corrosion resistance of different forgings were determined to be correlated with their microstructures. The experiment annealed and hot-deformed sample bars at 633 K, cold-deformed them at room temperature (RF), and at sub-zero temperatures (CF). After T73 heat treatment, the microstructures depended on the deformation temperature. This varied significantly, from elongated grains for hot-forged samples to equiaxial grains for cold-deformed samples. The hot-deformed samples had a tensile strength of 592 MPa for UTS, 538 MPa for YS, and 13.4% for elongation. These were stronger but less elongated than the cold-deformed samples. All hot-deformed (HF), RF, and CF samples exhibited mechanical properties that exceeded UTS > 505 MPa, YS > 435 MPa, and an elongation > 13%, and showed moderate corrosion resistance if samples were in contact with a 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution. The toughness of the forgings could be significantly improved by decreasing the forging temperatures. The corrosion resistance of AA7075-T73 forgings was affected by the total grain boundary (GB) lengths per unit area and the 2nd phase particle counts per unit area. Increasing the high-angle grain boundary lengths (HAGBs) per unit area accelerated corrosion and increased the Icorr value.  相似文献

The brazing of Titanium alloy to Aluminum alloy is of great significance for lightweight application, but the stable surface oxide film limits it. In our work, the surface oxide film was removed by the ion bombardment, the deposited Cu layer by magnetron sputtering was selected as an interlayer, and then the contact reactive brazing of TC4 alloy to Al7075 alloy was realized. The microstructure and joining properties of TC4/Al7075 joints obtained under different parameters were observed and tested, respectively. The results revealed that the intermetallic compounds in the brazing seam reduced with the increased brazing parameters, while the reaction layer adjacent to TC4 alloy continuously thickened. The shear strength improved first and then decreased with the changing of brazing parameters, and the maximum shear strength of ~201.45 ± 4.40 MPa was obtained at 600 °C for 30 min. The fracture path of TC4/Al7075 joints changed from brittle fracture to transgranular fracture, and the intergranular fracture occurred when the brazing temperature was higher than 600 °C and the holding time exceeded 30 min. Our work provides theoretical and technological analyses for brazing TC4/Al7075 and shows potential applications for large-area brazing of titanium/aluminum.  相似文献

7075Al alloy is the preferred material for lightweight automotive applications, but the existing problem is that it is difficult to combine high strength and high toughness. This paper presents our research aimed at obtaining high strength and high toughness materials by adding a nano-phase to realize microstructure refinement. Graphene nanoplates (GNP)/7075Al composites and 7075Al alloy were prepared by a stirring casting method in the present study. In comparison to 7075Al, the tensile strength of GNP/7075Al composites was increased from 572 MPa to 632 MPa while maintaining good uniform elongation of 8% to 10%. The increased strength behavior of GNP/7075Al composites while maintaining the plasticity is discussed in terms of grain refinement and dislocation evolution by analyzing the composite microstructure and quantitatively analyzing the contributions of grain boundary strengthening, solid solution strengthening, precipitation strengthening and dislocation strengthening. GNP’s strengthening of GNP/7075Al composites is mainly attributed to the refinement of grain size and the increase of dislocation density.  相似文献

This study investigates the comparison of the microstructural and mechanical properties of a novel ternary reinforced AA7075 hybrid metal matrix composite. Four samples, including AA7075 (base alloy), AA7075-5wt %SiC (MMC), AA7075-5wt %SiC-3wt %RHA (s-HMMC), and AA7075-5wt %SiC-3wt %RHA-1wt %CES (n-HMMC) were developed using the stir casting liquid metallurgy route, followed by the heat treatment. The experimental densities corresponded with the theoretical values, confirming the successful fabrication of the samples. A minimum density of 2714 kg/m3 was recorded for the n-HMMC. In addition, the highest porosity of 3.11% was found for n-HMMC. Furthermore, an increase of 24.4% in ultimate tensile strength and 32.8% in hardness of the n-HMMC was recorded compared to the base alloy. However, its ductility and impact strength was compromised with the lower values of 5.98% and 1.5 J, respectively. This was confirmed by microstructural analysis, which reveals that n-HMMC has mixing issues and forms agglomerates in the matrix, which served as the potential sites of stress concentration leading to low impact strength and ductility. Nevertheless, the hybrid composites showed superior mechanical properties over the MMC and its base alloy.  相似文献

In this paper, the corrosion resistance and mechanical properties of the 7075 aluminum alloy are studied. The alloy was deformed by hydrostatic extrusion and then aged both naturally and artificially. Results are compared with those of coarse-grained material subjected to T6 heat treatment. The aim of the research is to find the optimal correlation between the mechanical properties and the corrosion resistance of the alloy. To this end, static tensile tests with subsequent fractography, open circuit potential, and potentiodynamic polarization tests in 0.05 M NaCl were conducted. Obtained results show that a combination of precipitate hardening and a deformed microstructure leads to increased mechanical strength with high anisotropy due to the presence of fibrous grains. Plastic deformation increases susceptibility to corrosion due to the increased number of grain boundaries, which act as paths along that corrosion propagates. However, further artificial aging incurs a positive effect on corrosion resistance due to changes in the chemical composition of the matrix as a result of the precipitation process.  相似文献

The AA6061-T6 aluminum alloy samples including annealed Fe78Si9B13 particles were prepared by friction stir processing (FSP) and investigated by various techniques. The Fe78Si9B13-reinforced particles are uniformly dispersed in the aluminum alloy matrix. The XRD results indicated that the lattice parameter of α-Al increases and the preferred orientation factors F of (200) plane of α-Al reduces after friction stir processing. The coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) for FSP samples increases at first with the temperature but then decreases as the temperature further increased, which can be explained by the dissolving of Mg and Si from β phase and Fe78Si9B13 particles. The corrosion and wear resistance of FSP samples have been improved compared with that of base metal, which can be attributed to the reduction of grain size and the CTE mismatch between the base metal and reinforced particles by FSP, and the lubrication effect of Fe78Si9B13 particles also plays a role in improving wear resistance. In particular, the FSP sample with reinforced particles in amorphous state exhibited superior corrosion and wear resistance due to the unique metastable structure.  相似文献

This work mainly focuses on increasing the mechanical strength and improving the corrosion resistance of an aluminum alloy hybrid matrix. The composites are prepared by the stir casting procedure. For this work, aluminum alloy 8079 is considered as a base material and titanium nitride and zirconium dioxide are utilized as reinforcement particles. Mechanical tests, such as the ultimate tensile strength, wear, salt spray corrosion test and microhardness test, are conducted effectively in the fabricated AA8079/TiN + ZrO2 composites. L9 OA statistical analysis is executed to optimize the process parameters of the mechanical and corrosion tests. ANOVA analysis defines the contribution and influence of each parameter. In the tensile and wear test, parameters are chosen as % of reinforcement (3%, 6% and 9%), stirring speed (500, 550 and 600 rpm) and stirring time (20, 25 and 30 min). Similarly, in the salt spray test and microhardness test, the selected parameters are: percentage of reinforcement (3%, 6% and 9%), pH value (3, 6 and 9), and hang time (24, 48 and 72 h). The percentage of reinforcement highly influenced the wear and microhardness test, while the stirring time parameter extremely influenced the ultimate tensile strength. From the corrosion test, the hang time influences the corrosion rate. The SEM analysis highly reveals the bonding of each reinforcement particle to the base material.  相似文献

The influence of the laser treatment on the corrosion resistance of the Cr3C2-25(Ni20Cr) cermet coating on the Al7075 (EN, AW-7075) substrate (Cr3C2-25(Ni20Cr)/Al7075) was investigated. The coating was produced by the cold sprayed (CS) method. The tested coatings were irradiated with a laser spot speed of 600 mm/min, 800 mm/min, and 1000 mm/min. The mechanical properties of the Cr3C2-25(Ni20Cr)/Al7075 were characterized by microhardness (HV) measurements. The surface and microstructure of the specimens were observed by ascanning electron microscope (SEM) and other assistive techniques. The corrosion test of materials wascarried out by using the electrochemical method in the acidic chloride solution. Cermet coatings perfectly protect the Al7075 substrate against contact with an aggressive corrosion environment. The laser remelting process of the Cr3C2-25(Ni20Cr) layer caused the homogenization of the structure cermet coatings. The irradiation with the laser beam eliminates microcracks and pores on the Cr3C2-25(Ni20Cr) surface. However, the best effect of improving the anti-corrosion properties of cermet coating was obtained for the lowest laser spot speed (i.e., 600 mm/min). It was found that the corrosion rate of the Cr3C2-25(Ni20Cr) cermet coating was reduced by more than two times compared to the highest speed of the laser spot.  相似文献

The purpose of the work was to test the welded joints of aluminum alloys EN AW-7075 and EN AW-6082, which are used to join individual structural elements of car bodies, e.g., B-pillar with the body. The joints were made using the low-energy cold metal transfer (CMT) arc welding method. The results of the structure investigations of lap and butt joints, as well as tests of mechanical properties are presented. The influence of linear energy and the way of arranging materials in lap joints on the possibility of hot cracks occurrence has been demonstrated. The shear strength of lap joints was equal to 150 MPa, while the tensile strength of butt joints was equal to 375 MPa. The highest hardness reduction was observed in the heat affected zone (HAZ) from the EN AW-7075 alloy side in the range of 98 to 138 HV 0.05. In addition, a significant reduction of the corrosion resistance in the transition zone between HAZ and the base material (EN AW-7075 alloy) in the medium salinity environment, corresponding to the sea conditions according to ASTM G85 was indicated.  相似文献

The effect of CeO2 content on the microstructure and properties of SiCp/Al-Si composites prepared by powder metallurgy was studied, and the mechanism of CeO2 in composites was deeply analyzed. The results show that the addition of the appropriate amount of CeO2 can refine the Si particles and improve the tensile properties of the SiCp/Al-Si composites. As the CeO2 content increases from 0 to 0.4 vol%, the particle size of the Si phase shows a tendency to decrease first and then increase, while the tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation of the composites show a trend of first increasing and then decreasing. When the CeO2 content is 0.2 vol%, the refining effect of CeO2 and the tensile properties of composites are the best. The fracture mode of SiCp/Al-Si composites with a rare earth addition is a mixed fracture. There are three main mechanisms for CeO2 in SiCp/Al-Si composites. One is when CeO2 serves as the nucleation substrate of Si phase to refine Si particles. The second is when CeO2 reacts with the alloying elements in the aluminum matrix to form a new phase, CeCu2Si2, which can not only play a role of dispersion strengthening, but also improve the bonding strength between Al matrix and Si particles. The third is the pinning effect of CeO2 and CeCu2Si2 particles on grain boundaries or phase boundaries to refine aluminum grains.  相似文献

The hybrid structures of AA2024 aluminum alloy and AZ31B magnesium alloy have the advantages of being lightweight, having high specific strength, etc., which are of great application potentials in the aerospace industry. It is a key problem to realize the high-quality welding of these two dissimilar alloys. In this study, the friction stir welding (FSW) tests of AA2024 aluminum alloy and AZ31B magnesium alloy plates of thickness 3 mm were carried out. The intermetallic compounds (IMCs) at the bonding interface were characterized by scanning electron microscope, electron probe, and transmission electron microscope. It was found that the IMCs at the bonding interface in weld nugget zones of dissimilar AA2024/AZ31B FSW has a double-layer structure and a much larger thickness. During the welding process of AA2024/AZ31B, when the boundary of magnesium grains bulges and nucleates, the aluminum atoms diffuse into the magnesium grains, and the γ phase (Al12Mg17) nucleates at the bonding interface. The β phase (Al3Mg2) then precipitates at the grain boundary of the γ phase and preferentially grows into γ phase grains. The continuous grain growth to the aluminum side makes the copper contained in AA2024 aluminum alloy concentrate on the side of β phase, which reduces the nucleation work of recrystallization and phase transformation, and further promotes the nucleation and growth of IMCs grains. This is the main reason for the thicker IMCs in the FSW weld of dissimilar AA2024/AZ31B alloys.  相似文献

The current study investigated the microstructure modification in Al–6Mg–5Si–0.15Ti alloy (in mass %) through the minor addition of Ca using Mg + Al2Ca master alloy and heat treatment to see their impact on mechanical properties. The microstructure of unmodified alloy (without Ca) consisted of primary Al, primary Mg2Si, binary eutectic Al–Mg2Si, ternary eutectic Al–Mg2Si–Si, and iron-bearing phases. The addition of 0.05 wt% Ca resulted in significant microstructure refinement. In addition to refinement, lamellar to fibrous-type modification of binary eutectic Al–Mg2Si phases was also achieved in Ca-added (modified) alloy. This modification was related to increasing Ca-based intermetallics/compounds in the modified alloy that acted as nucleation sites for binary eutectic Al–Mg2Si phases. The dendritic refinement with Ca addition was related to the fact that it improves the efficacy of Ti-based particles (TiAl3 and TiB2) in the melt to act as nucleation sites. In contrast, the occupation of oxide bifilms by Ca-based phases is expected to force the iron-bearing phases (as iron-bearing phases nucleate at oxide films) to solidify at lower temperatures, thus reducing their size. The as-cast microstructure of these alloys was further modified by subjecting them to solution treatment at 540 °C for 6 h, which broke the eutectic structure and redistributed Mg2Si and Si phases in Al-matrix. Subsequent aging treatment caused a dramatic increase in the tensile strength of these alloys, and tensile strength of 291 MPa (with El% of 0.45%) and 327 MPa (with El% of 0.76%) was achieved for the unmodified alloy and modified alloy, respectively. Higher tensile strength and elongation of the modified alloy than unmodified alloy was attributed to refined dendritic structure and modified second phases.  相似文献

The paper presents the effect of the holding time, varying between 1 min 15 s and 10 min, on the microstructure evolution and development of selected properties of spark plasma sintered AA7075-based composites reinforced with 3, 5 and 10 wt% sub-micro B4C powder. The sintering temperature and the compaction pressure were 500 °C and 80 MPa, respectively. Composites with a near full density of 96–97% were obtained. Microstructure studies were performed employing the techniques of light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy, along with an analysis of the chemical composition in micro-areas. Additionally, the phase composition was investigated by means of X-ray diffraction. In addition, hardness and flexural strength tests were performed. It was found that the holding time did not significantly influence the microstructures of the examined materials nor the hardness or flexural strength. The sintered composites had a fine-grained microstructure with a strengthening phase located at the grain boundaries. As a result of the spark plasma sintering process, fine precipitates of intermetallic phases were also observed in the aluminum grains, suggesting partial supersaturation, which occurred during fast cooling.  相似文献

Aluminum alloy structures may be damaged due to wear or corrosion while in service. These damages will bring about huge financial costs, as well as a huge amount of energy consumption. There is an urgent need to search for an appropriate repair method in order to solve this problem. In this research, the cold spray process was used to repair the damages by using a mixture of powders with Al and Al2O3. A 7N01-T4 aluminum alloy plate with a factitious pit was regarded as the damaged sample. The microstructure, mechanical properties, and corrosion behavior were studied. The results showed that there were no visible perforative pores or cracks in the repaired areas. The microhardness of the repaired areas was in the range of 57.4–63.2 HV and was lower than that of the 7N01-T4 aluminum alloy. The tensile strength of the repaired samples was markedly improved compared with the unrepaired samples. The alternate immersion test results indicated that the repaired samples had the lowest rate of mass loss compared with 7N01-T4 and the unrepaired samples. After alternate immersion tests for 504 h, the repaired samples were covered with dense corrosion products. The repaired samples had a superior corrosion resistance compared to that of 7N01-T4. Thus, the cold spray process is a method of repairing damage in aluminum alloy structures.  相似文献

In this work, the compatibility and long-term integrity of candidate structural materials, including the austenitic stainless steel 316NG, the Fe-Ni-based alloy 800H, and the Ni-based alloy 625, were tested in high-temperature and high-pressure SCO2. The exposure time was up to 3000 h. The results showed that the corrosion kinetics approximately followed a near-cubic law for 316NG and 800H. After 3000 h exposure, all oxide layers, mainly composed of Cr2O3, were continuous, compact, and protective, and their thicknesses were about 21~45 nm, 64~88 nm, and 34~43 nm, respectively. In the case of carburization, dark spots corresponding carbon deposition were observed on the surface and a little enriched in the underside of the oxide for 800H. Moreover, the enrichment of trace elements was found at the oxide/substrate interface through GDOES and TEM analyses, i.e., the enrichment of Mn and Si for 316NG, the enrichment of Mn, Si, Al, and Ti for 800H, and the enrichment of Ti and Al for alloy 625.  相似文献

The results disclosed that both the microstructure and mechanical properties of AA7075-T6 laser welds are considerably influenced by the heat input. In comparison with high heat input (arc welding), a smaller weld fusion zone with a finer dendrite arm spacing, limited loss of alloying elements, less intergranular segregation, and reduced residual tensile stress was obtained using low heat input. This resulted in a lower tendency of porosity and hot cracking, which improved the welded metal’s soundness. Subsequently, higher hardness as well as higher tensile strength for the welded joint was obtained with lower heat input. A welded joint with better mechanical properties and less mechanical discrepancy is important for better productivity. The implemented high-power fiber laser has enabled the production of a low heat input welded joint using a high welding speed, which is of considerable importance for minimizing not only the fusion zone size but also the deterioration of its properties. In other words, high-power fiber laser welding is a viable solution for recovering the mechanical properties of the high-strength AA 7075-T6 welds. These results are encouraging to build upon for further improvement of the mechanical properties to be comparable with the base metal.  相似文献

The article presents the results of tribological tests of Ni-P/Si3N4 nanocomposite and Ni-P nickel layers deposited on the AW-7075 aluminum alloy by chemical reduction method, and the AW-7075 alloy without coating. Nanocomposite layers were produced using Si3N4 siliconnitride in the form of a polydisperse powder whose particle sizes ranged from 20 to 25 nm. The influence of the content of the dispersion phase layer material on the abrasive wear, which was determined as the “ball on disc” method, was analyzed. Surface topography was examined by the contact method using a profilometer. The purpose of introducing Si3N4 particles into the Ni-P layer was to increase the wear resistance of AW-7075 aluminum alloy parts with an embedded nanocomposite coating. Based on the obtained test results, it was found that the Ni-P/Si3N4 layers are more resistant to wear than the Ni-P layers and the AW-7075 alloy layers, and are a good barrier against abrasive wear at various loads and environmental conditions.  相似文献

Electrically-Assisted Forming (EAF) techniques are interesting and promising for the automotive industry. Electrically-assisted tensile tests were carried out on specimens of AA7075 aluminum alloy in different states of hardening, namely T6 (the as-received state) and the supersaturated solid solution state. All the tests were carried out in quasi-static conditions under the application of direct electric current (DC) in the range of 90 to 540 A. The experimental results showed that with a DC density of 10 A/mm2 the uniform strain and strain at fracture increased when the AA7075 was in the supersaturated solid solution state. A correlation between the mechanical results and microstructural features analysed through transmission electron microscopy was assessed. An explanation of the investigated phenomena based on the electron wind theory, heterogeneous microscale Joule heating and the Portevin–Le Chatelier (PLC) effect was finally proposed.  相似文献

In this work, the influence of bending an AA5457 alloy sheet and the resulting microstructural changes on its corrosion behavior was investigated. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were used to perform detailed microstructural analyses of the alloy in its original form and after bending. After immersion in naturally-aged NaCl under open-circuit conditions (0.5 M, adjusted to 3 by HCl), post-corrosion observations were made, and electrochemical polarization measurements were performed to investigate the corrosion mechanisms occurring on both surfaces. The results showed that the corrosion of AA5457 is a complex process that mainly involves trenching around coarse Si-rich particles, crystallographically-grown large pits, and the formation of multiple tiny pits around Si-rich nanoparticles. The experimental data showed that bending AA5457 changed the shape and distribution of Si-rich coarse particles, cumulated a higher dislocation density in the material, especially around Si-rich nanoparticles, and all of these factors caused that corrosion behavior of the AA5754 in the bending area was lowered.  相似文献
