OBJECTIVES: Most healthcare providers provide mobile service for their medical staff; however, few healthcare providers provide mobile service as part of their outpatient service. The mobile outpatient service system (MOSS) focuses on illness treatment, illness prevention and patient relation management for outpatient service users. Initiated in a local hospital in Taiwan, the MOSS pilot project was developed to improve outpatient service quality and pursue higher patient safety. METHOD: This study focuses on the development of the MOSS. The workflow, architecture and target users of the MOSS are delineated. In addition, there were two surveys conducted as part of this study. After a focus group of medical staff identified areas in which outpatient services might be improved by the MOSS, the first survey was administered to outpatients to confirm the focus group's intuitions. The second administration of the survey explored outpatient satisfaction after they used the MOSS service. RESULTS: With regard to outpatient attitudes, about 93% of participants agreed that the mobile outpatient service improved outpatient service quality. In the area of outpatient satisfaction, about 89% of participants indicated they were satisfied with the mobile outpatient service. DISCUSSION/CONCLUSION: Supported by our study finding, we propose that more diverse mobile outpatient services can be provided in the future. 相似文献

The emergency bed service in London exists to facilitate admissions to hospital in cases referred to them by general practitioners and deputizing doctors. The data collected by the emergency bed service provides a unique London-wide perspective of the hospital service and the recent changes observed are examined in this paper. When the emergency bed service fails to arrange for the admission of a patient after trying at least four hospitals the case is medically refereed. The number of cases reviewed by the medical referee has increased over the period 1976-86 as has the necessity for hospitals to stop or slow nonemergency admissions (red and yellow alerts). External factors, such as severe weather and influenza epidemics, were examined to see whether they could account for these changes. However, it was concluded that bed closures accounted for the changes and were making it more difficult to obtain hospital admission for emergency cases via the emergency bed service in Greater London. 相似文献

The information returned to the hospital clinician after a necropsy was investigated in a series of 1000 patients. It was found that specific clinical queries were answered in 83% of cases, that the necropsy corrected the major clinical diagnosis in 36% of cases, and that 29% of cases were used for undergraduate or postgraduate teaching. Blood bankers have always embraced the concepts of quality exemplified by the American Association of Blood Banks' Standards for Blood Banks and Transfusion Services and its accreditation program. The emergence of a quality management system based on a set of quality system essentials represents a natural evolution of these quality initiatives. When fully implemented, a quality system provides a powerful tool with which to improve the quality of both intralaboratory and, importantly, extralaboratory processes related to transfusion medicine. In addition, a functional quality system enhances a transfusion service's ability to meet current and proposed requirements of the American Association of Blood Banks, the Food and Drug Administration, the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, and the National Committee for Clinical Laboratory Standards. 相似文献
