Introduction and ObjectivesThe pivotal role of chest computed tomographic (CT) to diagnosis and prognosis coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) is still an open field to be explored. This study was conducted to assess the CT features in confirmed cases with COVID-19.Materials and MethodsRetrospectively, initial chest CT data of 363 confirmed cases with COVID-19 were reviewed. All subjects were stratified into three groups based on patients’ clinical outcomes; non-critical group (n=194), critical group (n=65), and death group (n=104). The detailed of CT findings were collected from patients’ medical records and then evaluated for each group. In addition, multinomial logistic regression was used to analyze risk factors according to CT findings in three groups of patients with COVID-19.ResultsCompared with the non-critical group, mixed ground-glass opacities (GGO) and consolidation lesion, pleural effusion lesion, presence of diffuse opacity in cases, more than 2 lobes involved and opacity scores were significantly higher in the critical and death groups (P<0.05). Having more mixed GGO with consolidation, pleural effusion, lack of pure GGO, more diffuse opacity, involvement of more than 2 lobes and high opacity score identified as independent risk factors of critical and death groups.ConclusionCT images of non-critical, critical and death groups with COVID-19 had definite characteristics. CT examination plays a vital role in managing the current COVID-19 outbreak, for early detection of COVID-19 pneumonia. In addition, initial CT findings may be useful to stratify patients, which have a potentially important utility in the current global medical situation.  相似文献

This paper describes country-wide special measures undertaken for interventional radiology staff during the current coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Although each interventional radiology service around the world faces unique challenges, the principles outlined in this article will be useful when designing or strengthening individual practices and integrating them within wider hospital and national measures. Moving beyond the current outbreak, these measures will be useful for any future infectious diseases which are likely to arise.  相似文献

PurposeTo evaluate the radiation dose differences for intraprocedural computed tomography (CT) imaging between cone-beam CT and angio-CT acquired during transarterial radioembolization (TARE) therapies for hepatocellular carcinoma.Materials and MethodsA retrospective cohort of 22 patients who underwent 23 TARE procedures were selected. Patients were imaged in both cone-beam CT and angio-CT rooms as a part of their conventional treatment plan. Effective dose contributions from individual CT acquisitions as well as the cumulative dose contributions from procedural 3D imaging were evaluated. Angiography dose contributions were omitted. Cone-beam CT images were acquired on a C-arm Philips Allura system. Effective doses were evaluated by coupling previously published conversion factors (effective dose per dose-area product) to patient’s dose-area product meter readings after the procedure. Angio-CT images were acquired on a hybrid Canon Infinix-i Aquilion PRIME system. Effective doses from angio-CT scans were estimated using Radimetrics. Comparisons of a single patient’s dose differential between the 2 technologies were made.ResultsThe mean effective dose from a single CT scan was 6.42 mSv and 5.99 mSv in the cone-beam CT room and the angio-CT room, respectively (P = .3224), despite the greater field of view and average craniocaudal scan coverage in angio-CT. The mean effective dose summed across all CTs in a procedure was 12.89 mSv and 34.35 mSv in the cone-beam CT room and the angio-CT room, respectively (P = .0018).ConclusionsThe mean effective dose per CT scan is comparable between cone-beam CT and angio-CT when considered in direct comparison for a single patient.  相似文献

Multiple polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) is considered the gold standard diagnostic investigation for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) that causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).However, false negative multiple polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) results can be diagnostically challenging. We report three patients with history of fever and different clinical signs. During the height of the pandemic in Italy (March to May 2020), these patients underwent chest computed tomography (CT) scans that showed lung alterations typical of COVID-19 with multiple negative RT-PCR tests and positive serology for SARS-CoV-2. Two of the three patients showed residual pneumonia on CT after the onset of the first clinical signs. One patient presented with diarrhoea without respiratory symptoms. These cases suggest that in the COVID-19 pandemic period, to provide an earlier specific treatment in patients with positive serology, a chest CT scan can be useful in those presenting with a fever or a history of fever associated with persistent mild respiratory symptoms or with abdominal complaints despite repeated negative RT-PCR results.  相似文献

PurposeTo assess changes in operational utilization following conversion of a single IR suite to a hybrid CT/angiography (Angio-CT) system at an academic tertiary care center.Materials and MethodsThe total number of interventional procedures and diagnostic CT examinations performed in 29 rooms (20 diagnostic radiology, 7 IR, 2 shared between divisions) was calculated in the 24 months before conversion of an IR suite to Angio-CT and 12 months after conversion. The total number of IR procedures (global IR/month) and diagnostic CT scans per month (global CT/month) in both before and after conversion periods was calculated and defined as baseline institutional growth. This was compared against the change in the number of IR procedures performed in the before and after periods in the converted room (Angio-CT/month) as well as the number of diagnostic CT scans performed in the shared rooms (shared CT/month).ResultsThe percent change in global CT and global IR from the before to the after periods was 39.2% and 3.1%, respectively. Shared CT per month and Angio-CT per month increased by 46.7% and 12.0% across the same time periods, respectively. The ratio of the percent increase in Angio-CT per month to percent increase in global IR per month was 3.87. The ratio of the percent increase in shared CT per month to percent increase in global CT per month was 1.19.ConclusionsOperational utilization improved in both diagnostic radiology and IR sections following conversion of a conventional fluoroscopic IR suite to an Angio-CT room.  相似文献

PurposeTo evaluate the role of computed tomography (CT) and CT angiography in guiding endovascular arteriography (EA) and embolization in hemodynamically (HD) stable and unstable patients with abdominal and/or pelvic (AP) trauma.Materials and MethodsA retrospective review was performed of patients with AP trauma who underwent EA with or without embolization (from January 2012 to August 2020) at an urban, level I trauma center. Patients aged <18 years or those undergoing EA outside of the abdomen and/or pelvis were excluded. Demographics, imaging findings, procedure length, contrast agent administration, laboratory values, and outcomes were compared on the basis of preprocedural imaging technique and hemodynamic status.ResultsA total of 190 patients with AP trauma underwent EA with or without embolization; among them, 123 were HD stable and underwent CT/CT angiography, whereas 67 were initially HD unstable and underwent operative management prior to EA. Of these patients, 38 underwent CT/CT angiography after hemodynamic stability was achieved prior to postoperative EA. The incidence of therapeutic embolization for arterial injury on EA was significantly higher in patients with preprocedural CT/CT angiography (65.8% vs 44.8%, P = .04). The positive and negative predictive values of CT angiography for arterial injury at the time of EA were 92.3% and 100%, respectively. Prior imaging was associated with a reduced contrast agent requirement at the time of EA and reduced transfusion requirement (P = .05 and P = .02). No significant differences were observed in adverse outcomes for patients undergoing preprocedural imaging.ConclusionsCT or CT angiography prior to EA for HD stable and unstable patients with AP trauma may improve the likelihood of therapeutic embolization and enable improved procedure metrics without increasing adverse outcomes.  相似文献

PurposeTo describe the range of occupational badge dose readings and annualized dose records among physicians performing fluoroscopically guided interventional (FGI) procedures using job title information provided by the same 3 major medical institutions in 2009, 2012, and 2015.Materials and MethodsThe Radiation Safety Office of selected hospitals was contacted to request assistance with identifying physicians in a large commercial dosimetry database. All entries judged to be uninformative of occupational doses to FGI procedure staff were excluded. Monthly and annualized doses were described with univariate statistics and box-and-whisker plots.ResultsThe dosimetry data set of interventional radiology staff contained 169 annual dose records from 77 different physicians and 698 annual dose records from 455 nonphysicians. The median annualized lens dose equivalent values among physicians (11.9 mSv; interquartile range [IQR], 6.9–20.0 mSv) was nearly 3-fold higher than those among nonphysician medical staff assisting with FGI procedures (4.0 mSv; IQR, 1.8–6.7 mSv) (P < .001). During the study period, without eye protection, 25% (23 of 93) of the physician annualized lens dose equivalent values may have exceeded 20 mSv; for nonphysician medical staff, this value may have been exceeded 3.5% (6 of 173) of the time. However, these values did not account for eye protection.ConclusionsThe findings from this study highlight the importance of mitigating occupational dose to the eyes of medical staff, particularly physicians, performing or assisting with FGI procedures. Training on radiation protection principles, the use of personal protective equipment, and patient radiation dose management can all help ensure that the occupational radiation dose is adequately controlled.  相似文献

PurposeTo assess the mortality, readmission rates, and practice variation of percutaneous cholecystostomy (PC) in patients with acute calculous cholecystitis in the United Kingdom (UK).Materials and MethodsA total of 1,186 consecutive patients (636 men [53.6%]; median age, 75 years; range, 24–102 years) who underwent PC for acute calculous cholecystitis between January 1, 2019, and December 31, 2020, were included from 36 UK hospitals. The exclusion criteria were diagnostic aspirations, absence of acute calculous cholecystitis, and age less than 16 years. The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) lockdown was declared on March 26, 2020, in the UK, which served to distinguish among groups.ResultsMost patients (66.3%) underwent PC as definitive treatment, whereas 31.3% underwent PC as a bridge to surgery. The overall 30-day readmission rate was 42.2% (500/1,186), and the 30-day mortality was 9.1% (108/1,186). Centers performing fewer than 30 PCs per year had higher 90-day mortality than those performing more than 60 (19.3% vs 11.0%, respectively; P = .006). A greater proportion of patients presented with complicated acute calculous cholecystitis during the COVID-19 pandemic compared to prior (49.9% vs 40.9%, respectively; P = .007), resulting in more PCs (61.3 vs 37.9 per month, respectively; P < .001). More PCs were performed in tertiary hospitals than in district general hospitals (9 vs 3 per 100 beds, respectively; P < .001), with a greater proportion performed as a bridge to surgery (50.5% vs 22.8%, respectively; P < .001).ConclusionsThe practice of PC is highly variable throughout the UK. The readmission rates are high, and there is significant correlation between mortality and PC case volume.  相似文献

Telehealth has not previously been widely implemented as a result of regulatory and reimbursement concerns; however, in the current national emergency of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has relaxed many of its rules, allowing increased adoption of telehealth services, improving the safety and access of outpatient health care. A complete understanding of the regulatory requirements, technologic options, and billing processes of telehealth is required to initiate a successful clinic. A model is presented here based on a single institution’s experience with implementing telehealth in the outpatient interventional radiology clinic.  相似文献

PurposeTo quantify iodized oil retention in tumors after transarterial chemoembolization using spectral computed tomography (CT) imaging in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and evaluate its performance in predicting 12-month tumor responses.Materials and MethodsFrom September 2017 to December 2018, 111 patients with HCC underwent initial conventional transarterial chemoembolization. Immediately after the procedure, unenhanced CT was performed using a spectral CT scanner, and the iodized oil densities in index tumors were measured. In tumor-level analyses, a threshold level of iodized oil density in the tumors was calculated using clustered receiver operating characteristic curve analyses to predict the 12-month tumor responses. In patient-level analyses, significant factors associated with a 12-month complete response, including the presence of tumors below the threshold value (ie, suspected residual tumors), were evaluated by logistic regression.ResultsForty-eight HCCs in 39 patients were included in the analyses. The lower 10th percentile of the iodine density was identified as the threshold for determining the 12-month nonviable responses. The area under the curve of the iodine density measurements in predicting the 12-month nonviable responses was 0.893 (95% confidence interval, 0.797–0.989). The threshold value of the iodine density of 10.68 mg/mL yielded a sensitivity of 82.76% and specificity of 94.74% (P < .001). In the patient-level analysis, the 12-month complete response was significantly associated with the presence of a suspected residual tumor, with an odds ratio of 72.0 (95% confidence interval, 7.273–712.770).ConclusionsSpectral CT imaging using quantitative analysis of the iodized oil retention in target HCCs can predict tumor responses after a conventional transarterial chemoembolization procedure.  相似文献

IntroductionThere is limited research related to the radiographers' role in assessing of radiology referrals to justify imaging. This study investigated radiographers' compliance with guidelines in the assessment of CT and MRI referrals and factors that influenced their performance.MethodsThis research was facilitated by the EFRS Research Hub at ECR 2019. Five radiology referral scenarios for CT and/or MRI were distributed to radiographers, as determined by their scope of practice, who volunteered at the Research Hub. A web-based data collection tool was used. The radiographers were required to determine the appropriateness of each referral, highlight any concerns and recommend suitable investigations if applicable. Linear regression analysis was used to determine whether postgraduate qualification, grade/role of the radiographer and use of guidelines influenced the radiographers' performance in assessing the referrals.ResultsParticipants originated from 24 countries (n = 51 CT, n = 40 MRI), the majority originating from the UK, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Norway and Austria. Responses consistent with guidelines were 58% and 57% for CT and MRI, respectively. Possession of an MSc qualification in CT was a significant factor of influence for a higher consistency with guidelines (p = 0.02) in CT. Employment as a radiographer in a lead professional role and/or educator was a significant factor of influence for a higher consistency with guidelines in MRI (p = 0.01).ConclusionA total of 58% for CT and 57% for MRI of the radiographers' responses complied with guidelines. Factors such as postgraduate education and leading professional roles are associated with better performance.Implications for practiceConsidering qualifications, experience and managerial role is vital before radiographers are delegated task of justifying CT and MR Imaging.  相似文献

IntroductionAdverse events in radiology are quite rare, but they do occur. Radiation safety regulations and the law obligate organizations to report certain adverse events, harm and near misses, especially events related to patients' health and safety. The aim of this study was to describe and analyse incidents related to radiation safety issues reported in Finland.MethodsThe data were collected from incident reports documented by radiology personnel concerning notifications of abnormal events in medical imaging made to the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority between 2010 and 2017. During these eight years, 312 reports were submitted. Only events reported from radiology departments were included; nuclear medicine, radiotherapy and animal radiology cases were excluded. The final number of reports was 293 (94%).ResultsThe majority of the 293 approved reports were related to computed tomography (CT, 68.3%) and to X-ray examinations (27.6%). Altogether 82.9% of those irradiated were adults, most of whom were exposed to unnecessary radiation through CT (86.5%), 5.5% were children, and 4.4% pregnant women. The most common effective dose of unnecessary radiation was 1 mSv or less (89.7% of all examinations). The highest effective doses were reported in CT (from under 1 mSv–20 mSv and above). The reasons for the adverse events were incorrect identification (32%), incorrect procedure, site or side (30%); and human errors or errors of knowledge (20%).ConclusionAdverse events occurred especially in CT examinations. It is important to collect and analyse incident data, assess the harmful events, learn from them and aim to reduce adverse events.Implications for practiceThis study emphasizes the need for radiological personnel to obtain evidence-based information on adverse events and focus on training to improve patient safety.  相似文献

PurposeTo describe the natural history of Gunther Tulip filter (GTF) strut penetration based on the computed tomography (CT)–documented distance penetrated over time and any clinical manifestations.Materials and MethodsThe records of 203 patients (mean age, 59.1 years; 59.4% men) who had had an infrarenal GTF placed for venous thromboembolism (84.2%) with contraindications to anticoagulation (95.1%) and had CT follow-up were reviewed retrospectively for clinical or imaging evidence of complications. Filter strut penetration was measured on axial images from the outer caval wall to the inner edge of the distal end of each strut. Filter strut behavior over time was modeled using a linear mixed model.ResultsThe extent of penetration correlated positively with filter dwell time (P < .001) but plateaued at 3.3 mm at 10-year follow-up. At median 4.7-year follow-up 79.3% of patients had at least 1 strut that was >0.2 mm and 31% had a strut >3 mm from the inferior vena caval wall. The extent of strut penetration was greater at all time points for women (P = .002). Abutment or entry into an adjacent structure was identified in 183 struts of 105 (52.7%) filters; of the 80 filters with CT follow-up, 47% showed progression and 19% regressed. There were no symptoms referable to filter strut penetration.ConclusionsGTF struts often penetrate the inferior vena cava progressively; however, this tends to plateau by 10 years. The limited long-term progression and a very low incidence of symptomatic complications together support a noninterventional approach to the finding of an asymptomatic GTF strut penetration.  相似文献

RationaleSubstantial organizational changes, increasing clinical volumes, and the COVID-19 pandemic presented compound stressors to faculty radiologists in our large academic abdominal radiology division and necessitated multiple changes in our practice.MethodsTo address the challenges and establish group consensus, we conducted a virtual divisional faculty retreat centered on themes of team building, clinical work, trainee education, and faculty mentorship. A pre-retreat survey evaluated satisfaction with aspects of professional life and clinical work practices and invited personal reflections. Survey data were presented in the retreat segments focused on each theme, and subsequent discussion was facilitated in small group breakouts.ResultsResponses to the team-building survey revealed common values and sources of gratitude, including health, family and meaningful work and relationships. Faculty reported a strong sense of personal accomplishment, but with varied emotional exhaustion scores. Faculty were satisfied with remote work assignments but identified opportunities to improve the clinical work schedule including reversion of some remote assignments to in-person and increased interventional radiology shift staggering. Compared to pre-COVID practice, faculty respondents perceived giving lower quality and less frequent feedback to trainees; evolving educational resource needs were identified. A more formal approach to faculty mentoring was sought. A post-retreat survey revealed high participant satisfaction.OutcomesIn the future, we plan to continue divisional retreat activities to respond to evolving challenges and further improve team building, clinical workflow, trainee education, and faculty mentorship.  相似文献

PurposeTo investigate changes in retinal microcirculation in patients recovered from COVID-19 infection compared to healthy controls, using optical coherence tomography-angiography.MethodsMeta-analysis of eligible studies comparing retinal microcirculation between patients recovered from COVID-19 infection and healthy controls up to 7th of September 2022 was performed, according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses 2009 guidelines. The following search algorithm was used: (COVID-19 OR coronavirus) AND (retina OR optical coherence tomography OR optical coherence tomography angiography OR vessel density OR foveal avascular zone). Standardized Mean Difference (SMD) with 95% confidence interval (CI) was calculated to compare continuous variables. Revman 5.3 was used for the analysis.Results12 studies were included in our analysis. Foveal avascular zone (FAZ) area was larger in patients recovered from COVID-19 infection compared to healthy controls, while there was no statistically significant difference in FAZ perimeter between the two groups. The foveal, parafoveal and whole image vessel density in the superficial capillary plexus showed no significant difference between the two groups. The foveal, parafoveal and whole image vessel density in the deep capillary plexus was statistically lower in patients recovered from COVID-19 compared to healthy controls.ConclusionFAZ area was enlarged and foveal, parafoveal and whole image vessel density in deep capillary plexus were reduced in patients recovered from COVID-19 infection compared to healthy controls, suggesting that COVID-19 infection may induce long-term retinal microvascular changes in patients recovered from the virus infection.  相似文献

PurposeTo evaluate the feasibility of prostatic artery embolization in patients with low-risk prostate cancer (PC) under active surveillance (AS).MethodsThis monocentric prospective pilot study, running from June 2018 to June 2019, included 10 patients with low-risk PC under AS, median age 72 years (range, 62–77 years), with a unilateral focal lesion visible on magnetic resonance (MR) imaging, with Prostate Imaging Reporting and Data System v2 score ≥3/5 confirmed by multiparametric MR imaging-targeted biopsy and Gleason score 6. The patients underwent unilateral prostatic artery embolization with 300–500 μm Embospheres in the affected prostatic lobe. The primary endpoint was technical feasibility (prostate and no off-target ischemia in the imaging). The secondary endpoints included safety, negative biopsies/MR imaging response/functional outcomes at 6 months, and oncologic efficacy at 1 year.ResultsEmbolization was successfully achieved in all patients; prostate ischemia was confirmed on multiparametric MR imaging, and no off-target ischemia was reported. No major complications were reported. Four patients (40%) presented with both negative targeted and systematic biopsies at 6 months. No lesions were seen on the MR imaging in 30% of patients. The mean International Prostate Symptom Score and International Index of Erectile Function score were 7 and 19 and 5 and 20 at baseline and 6 months, respectively, with no significant difference. Nine patients (90%) were still under AS at 1 year. One patient (10%) had PC progression outside the target lesion and was switched over to curative radiotherapy.ConclusionsProstatic artery embolization is feasible and appears safe for prostate cancer patients under AS, with no impact on erectile function or continence status. These results justify the pursuit of further studies.  相似文献

PurposeTo assess outcomes of computed tomography (CT)-guided methylene blue/collagen marking of preoperative lung nodules before video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) and robotic-assisted thoracic surgery (RATS).Materials and MethodsA retrospective cohort study assessing 25 methylene blue/collagen solution CT-guided lung nodule localization procedures on 26 nodules in 25 patients was performed. The procedures were performed by a fellowship-trained radiologist 1–2 hours before scheduled surgery under local anesthesia. Approximately 4–6 ml of methylene blue/collagen solution was injected in a perinodular location under CT guidance with a 19-gauge trocar needle and along the track to the visceral pleural surface. Post-procedural CT images confirmed appropriate lung nodule location marking.ResultsPerinodular CT-guided trocar needle placement was achieved in all marking procedures (n = 26/26). Increased consolidation near the target nodule was also demonstrated in all patients on the post-procedural localized CT scans. One patient with moderate emphysema developed a small to moderate-sized pneumothorax (∼20%–30%), and an 8-Fr thoracentesis catheter was placed under CT guidance before surgery. There was no bleeding or hemoptysis in any patient. Methylene blue/collagen solution was readily visible by the thoracic surgeon in association with all target nodules. One patient required conversion to open procedure due to the proximal portion of the right lower lobe pulmonary artery segmental branch. Of the 26 identified nodules, pathology specimens confirmed the adequacy of nodule resection in all cases.ConclusionsPreoperative CT-guided methylene blue/collagen solution injection offers a safe and highly effective technique for marking subpleural lung nodules undergoing VATS or RATS.  相似文献

PurposeTo calculate the volume of greenhouse gases (GHGs) generated by a hospital-based interventional radiology (IR) department.Materials and MethodsLife cycle assessment (LCA) was used to calculate GHGs emitted by an IR department at a tertiary care academic medical center. The volume of waste generated, amount of disposable supplies and linens used, and the operating times of electrical equipment were recorded for procedures performed between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM on 5 consecutive weekdays. LCA was then performed using purchasing data, plug loads for electrical hardware, data from temperature control units, and estimates of emissions related to travel in the area surrounding the medical center.ResultsNinety-eight procedures were performed on 97 patients. The most commonly performed procedures were drainages (30), placement and removal of venous access (21), and computed tomography–guided biopsies (13). Approximately 23,500 kg CO2e were emitted during the study. Sources of CO2 emissions in descending order were related to indoor climate control (11,600 kg CO2e), production and transportation of disposable surgical items (9,640 kg CO2e), electricity plug load for equipment and lighting (1,060 kg CO2e), staff transportation (524 kg CO2e), waste disposal (426 kg CO2e), production, laundering, and disposal of linens (279 kg CO2e), and gas anesthetics (19.3 kg CO2e).ConclusionsThe practice of IR generates substantial GHG volumes, a majority of which come from energy used to maintain climate control, followed by emissions related to single-use surgical supplies. Efforts to reduce the environmental impact of IR may be focused accordingly.  相似文献

PurposeTo develop bile acid-stabilized multimodal magnetic resonance (MR) imaging and computed tomography (CT)-visible doxorubicin eluting lipiodol emulsion for transarterial chemoembolization of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).Materials and MethodsFerumoxytol, a US Food and Drug Administration-approved iron oxide nanoparticle visible under MR imaging was electrostatically complexed with doxorubicin (DOX). An amphiphilic bile acid, sodium cholate (SC), was used to form a stable dispersion of ferumoxytol-DOX complex in lipiodol emulsion. Properties of the fabricated emulsion were characterized in various component ratios. Release kinetics of DOX were evaluated for the chemoembolization applications. Finally, in vivo multimodal MR imaging/CT imaging properties and potential therapeutic effects upon intra-arterial (IA) infusion bile acid-stabilized ferumoxytol-DOX-lipiodol emulsion were evaluated in orthotopic McA-Rh7777 HCC rat models.ResultsDOX complexed with ferumoxytol through electrostatic interaction. Amphiphilic SC bile acid at the interface between the aqueous ferumoxytol-DOX complexes and lipiodol enabled a sustained DOX release (17.2 ± 1.6% at 24 hours) at an optimized component ratio. In McA Rh7777 rat HCC model, IA-infused emulsion showed a significant contrast around tumor in both T2-weighted MR imaging and CT images (P = .044). Hematoxylin and eosin and Prussian blue staining confirmed the local deposition of IA-infused SC bile acid-stabilized emulsion in the tumor. The deposited emulsion induced significant increases in TUNEL (terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling) stain-positive cancer cell apoptosis compared to those in a group treated with the nonstabilized emulsion.ConclusionsSC bile acid-stabilized ferumoxytol-DOX-lipiodol emulsion demonstrated sustained drug release and multimodal MR imaging/CT imaging capabilities. The new lipiodol-based formulation may enhance the therapeutic efficacy of chemoembolization in HCC.  相似文献
