Laser surface texture is very effective in antifriction systems, but its applications and research in dry friction are not enough. In this study, the groove texture was prepared on the surface of 0Cr17Ni7Al stainless steel, a common material of sliding bearing, by nanosecond and femtosecond laser, respectively. The tribological properties of the two kinds of laser groove textures with different collision frequencies were studied in depth. The results show that the friction coefficients of groove texture prepared by nanosecond and picosecond lasers are lower than that of the untextured surface. The antifriction characteristics of the laser texture are very good. The average friction coefficient of nanosecond texture at the rotation radius of 15 mm is Z = 0.7318. The best friction-reducing effect is achieved. In general, the friction coefficient of nanosecond texture is lower than that of picosecond texture. When the friction radius is 22.5 mm and the number of collisions is 24,000, the lowest picosecond texture wear rate is H = 3.342 × 10−4 mm3/N·mm. However, when the radius is 15 mm and the collision frequency is 36,000 times, the wear rate of nanosecond texture reaches the highest H = 13.680 × 10−4 mm3/N·mm. The wear rate of the untextured surface has been exceeded. It can be seen that not all rotation radius textures are more wear-resistant than untextured surfaces. In addition, nanosecond groove texture and picosecond groove texture seem to produce different tribological properties. It is found that, under the same friction experimental conditions, different collision frequencies will affect the friction and wear properties of nanosecond and picosecond groove-textured surfaces.  相似文献

Femtosecond (fs) laser processing has received great attention for preparing novel micro-nano structures and functional materials. However, the induction mechanism of the micro-nano structures induced by fs lasers still needs to be explored. In this work, the laser-induced periodic surface structure (LIPSS) of monocrystalline silicon (Si) under fs laser irradiation is investigated. Three different layers named amorphous silicon (a-Si) layer, transition layer, and unaffected Si layer are observed after laser irradiation. The a-Si layer on the surface is generated by the resolidification of melting materials. The unaffected Si layer is not affected by laser irradiation and maintains the initial atomic structure. The transition layer consisting of a-Si and unaffected Si layers was observed under the irradiated subsurface. The phase transition mechanism of Si irradiated by fs laser is “amorphous transition”, with the absence of other crystal structures. A numerical model is established to describe the fs laser-Si interaction to characterize the electronic (lattice) dynamics of the LIPSS formation. The obtained results contribute to the understanding of fs laser processing of Si at the atomic scale as well as broaden the application prospects of fs laser for treating other semiconductor materials.  相似文献

This paper presents the effort to reduce friction and wear of gear washers under low-speed and heavy-load conditions by designing the arrangement of surface textures. The influence of distributional parameters of textures on load-bearing capacity and friction coefficient of gear washers are studied numerically to obtain a preferable surface texturing design. Then, experimental tests were carried out to plot the Stribeck curves of the obtained texture arrangement compared with bare surface and another unoptimizable texture distribution arrangement to facilitate the verification of the simulation results. Theoretical predictions illustrate that the annular gear washers with partial surface texturing provide lower friction coefficients than bare washers. Textures having a sector angle of 20°, a coverage angle of 12°, a circumferential number of 8, and a radial number of 6 are selected as the final optimal surface texture distribution design. Experimental results confirm that the obtained texture arrangement moves the Stribeck curve towards the lower left, indicating thickening of oil film thickness and reduction in friction coefficient. In addition, the weight loss caused by wear is also reduced by the optimized texture design.  相似文献

Pure titanium was treated by atmospheric oxidation, and the effect of the treatment temperature on its performance was studied. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, wear testing, and scratch testing were used to evaluate the performance of the treated specimens. In order to evaluate the difficulty of compound formation during the different processing temperatures, Gibbs free energy was calculated. The experimental results show that the surface hardness of the sample can be improved at a certain oxidation treatment temperature. When the processing temperature is 850 °C, the surface hardness reaches the maximum value. The results of the scratch testing show that the hardened layer produced at this processing temperature has excellent peeling resistance. In addition, the wear depth and wear width are also at their minimum values at this processing temperature. Since the specimen treated at a processing temperature of 850 °C provides sufficiently high surface hardness and wear resistance in this research report, it is considered to be the optimal condition during practical application.  相似文献

Polycrystalline diamond (PCD) skiving cutter has dominated research in recent years. However, the traditional methods of fabrication have failed to cut the diamond with high quality. We propose the two-step laser machining process combining roughing machining with orthogonal irradiation and finishing machining with tangential irradiation. In addition, the processing effect and mechanism of different lasers on the diamond were investigated by a finite element analysis. It’s proved that the ultraviolet nanosecond laser is an excellent machining method for the processing of diamond. Furthermore, the effect of the processing parameters on the contour accuracy (Rt) was studied. The result indicates that the Rt value decreases first and then increases as the increase of the line interval, scanning speed and defocusing amount (no matter positive or negative defocus). Further, Raman spectroscopy was applied to characterize the diamond surface under different cutting methods and the flank face of the tool after processing. Finally, a high-quality PCD skiving cutter was obtained with an Rt of 5.6 µm and no phase transition damage.  相似文献

AZ91D Mg alloy was treated by ultrasonic surface rolling processing (USRP) and subsequent recovery treatment at different temperatures. The dry sliding friction test was performed to investigate the effects of USRP and subsequent recovery treatment on the wear resistance of AZ91D Mg alloy by a ball-on-plate tribometer. The microstructure, properties of plastic deformation layer and worn morphology were observed by optical microscope (OM), scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis and microhardness tester. Results illustrate that the grains of AZ91D Mg alloy surface layer are refined to nanocrystallines. The maximum microhardness of the top surface of the USRP sample reaches 102.3 HV. When USRP samples are treated by recovery treatment at 150 °C, 200 °C and 250 °C, the microhardness of the top surface decreases to 90.68 HV, 79.29 HV and 75.06 HV, respectively. The friction coefficient (FC) and wear volume loss of the USRP-R-150 sample are the lowest among all the samples. The worn surface morphology of the USRP-R-150 sample is smoother than that of other samples, indicating that the wear resistance of AZ91D Mg alloy treated by USRP and recovery treatment at 150 °C is improved significantly.  相似文献

Laser sources emitting in the infrared range at around 2 µm are attracting great interest for a variety of applications like processing of transparent thermoplastic polymers in industry as well as plenty of applications in medicine, spectroscopy, gas sensing, nonlinear frequency conversion to the mid-infrared, to mention a few. Of late, fiber lasers compared to other kinds of lasers benefit from their all-fiber design, leading to a compact, robust, and well thermally manageable device. Particularly, thulium- and holmium-doped fiber lasers are the first choice in fiber lasers emitting light around 2 µm. In this paper, we give an overview of our recent results in the research on thulium- and holmium-doped optical fibers, fiber lasers, and related research topics in the 2-µm spectral range. In particular, we present, to our knowledge, the first results of improvement of pump absorption in double-clad fibers thanks to the fiber twist frozen during drawing. Finally, a brief demonstration of material processing by thulium all-fiber laser operating at 2 µm is presented.  相似文献

Lasers have been well integrated in clinical dentistry for the last two decades, providing clinical alternatives in the management of both soft and hard tissues with an expanding use in the field of dental materials. One of their main advantages is that they can deliver very low to very high concentrated power at an exact point on any substrate by all possible means. The aim of this review is to thoroughly analyze the use of lasers in the processing of dental materials and to enlighten the new trends in laser technology focused on dental material management. New approaches for the elaboration of dental materials that require high energy levels and delicate processing, such as metals, ceramics, and resins are provided, while time consuming laboratory procedures, such as cutting restorative materials, welding, and sintering are facilitated. In addition, surface characteristics of titanium alloys and high strength ceramics can be altered. Finally, the potential of lasers to increase the adhesion of zirconia ceramics to different substrates has been tested for all laser devices, including a new ultrafast generation of lasers.  相似文献

Beryllium is widely used in the manufacturing of precision instruments because of its high thermal and mechanical properties. However, because beryllium is expensive, and processing it generally uses subtractive manufacturing methods, the cost is high, the utilization rate of cutting the materials is low, and the processing is difficult. Additionally, it is extremely prone to cracking, brittle fracturing, and fracturing during the machining process. In this paper, a new method for manufacturing beryllium laser additives under a pressure atmosphere is proposed. Via the single-point and single-pass laser melting of beryllium materials in an inert gas (Ar) pressure atmosphere, the results of the experiments conducted in the pressure range of 1 to 30 bar indicated the following: (1) beryllium can absorb the laser and form a molten pool, and the contour area of the upper surface of the molten pool is approximately 80% of that of 304 stainless steel under the same energy input; (2) severe oxidation occurs on and near the molten pool surface under low pressure, and oxidation is eliminated when the pressure is increased; (3) as ambient pressure increases, the surface profile of the molten pool gradually exhibits an irregular shape, and the cracks on the surface of beryllium change from “divergent” to “shrinkage”, which can eliminate cracking. At higher pressures, the “small hole” phenomenon in the molten pool disappears, forming a wide and shallow molten pool shape that is more conducive to stable deposition. The experimental results indicate that the laser-additive manufacturing of beryllium in a pressure atmosphere is a meaningful developmental direction for beryllium processing in the future.  相似文献

Thermochemical laser-induced periodic surface structures (TLIPSS) are a relatively new type of periodic structures formed in the focal area of linear polarized laser radiation by the thermally stimulated reaction of oxidation. The high regularity of the structures and the possibility of forming high-ordered structures over a large area open up possibilities for the practical application for changing the optical and physical properties of materials surface. Since the mechanism of formation of these structures is based on a chemical oxidation reaction, an intriguing question involves the influence of air pressure on the quality of structure formation. This paper presents the results on the TLIPSS formation on a thin hafnium film with fs IR laser radiation at various ambient air pressures from 4 Torr to 760 Torr. Despite the decrease in the oxygen content in the ambient environment by two orders of magnitude, the formation of high-ordered TLIPSS (dispersion in the LIPSS orientation angle δθ < 5°) with a period of ≈700 nm occurs within a wide range of parameters variation (laser power, scanning speed). This behavior of TLIPSS formation is in agreement with experimental data obtained earlier on the study of the kinetics of high-temperature oxidation of hafnium at various oxygen pressures.  相似文献

In the present study, pulsed laser post-processing was applied to improve the properties of the thermally sprayed NiCrCoFeCBSi/40 wt.% WC coatings. The powder mix was deposited onto a mild steel substrate by flame spray method and then the as-sprayed coatings were processed by Nd:YAG laser. The peak power density applied was between 4.00 × 106 and 5.71 × 106 W/cm2, and the laser operating speed ranged between 100 and 400 mm/min, providing processing in a melting mode. Scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy, Knop hardness measurements, and “ball-on-disc” dry friction tests were applied to study the effect of the processing parameters on the geometry of laser pass and microstructure, hardness, and tribology of the processed layers. The results obtained revealed that pulsed laser processing provides a monolithic remelted coating layer with the microstructure of ultrafine, W-rich dendrites in Ni-based matrix, where size and distribution of W-rich dendrites periodically vary across remelted layer depth. The composition of W-rich dendrites can be attributed to a carbide of type (W, Cr, Ni, Fe)C. The cracks sensitivity of coatings was visibly reduced with the reduction of power density applied. The hardness of coatings was between ~1070 and ~1140 HK0.2 and correlated with microstructure size, being dependent on the processing parameters. The friction coefficient and wear rate of coatings during dry sliding were reduced by up to ~30% and up to ~2.4 times, respectively, after laser processing.  相似文献

Local high temperature, stress concentration, and abnormal friction coefficients will appear at the friction pair in a wet clutch as a result of surface topography real-time changing. In order to improve the reliability of clutch friction components and reduce the failure phenomenon, the three-dimensional fractal surface topography data of the actual rough surface asperities are scanned, extracted, and processed successively, and then the finite element model of the rotary sliding friction pair is established considering the micro surface topography. Based on the finite element model, the variation of surface stress and strain is analyzed, and the friction coefficient measured experimentally is taken as the model input. It is concluded that when the rough surface and smooth surface make contact with each other, the maximum stress and plastic strain appear at the inner radius edge. Therefore, this research has a guiding significance for the structural design and processing technology of the friction components in a vehicle clutch.  相似文献

A Nd-YAG laser was used for texturing the Ti6Al4V surface with dimples of diameter 50 and 100 µm and centre-to-centre distance 100, 200 and 400 µm, defining the surface texture density. The tribological evaluation was conducted to analyse and compare the behaviour of un-textured and laser-textured samples under water in comparison to oil (PAO6) lubrication without and with the addition of MoS2 nanotubes into the lubricant. MoS2 nanotubes had a positive effect on friction in both media for laser-textured Ti6Al4V. Evaluation of friction and wear in water and PAO6 showed a comparable tribological response in water to oil for specific laser-textured configurations, proving the novel concept of green tribology for laser texturing in combination with MoS2 nanotubes/water lubrication.  相似文献

The ongoing trend in the development of powerful ultrashort pulse lasers has attracted increasing attention for this technology to be applied in large-scale surface engineering and modern microfabrication. However, the emission of undesired X-ray photon radiation was recently reported even for industrially relevant laser irradiation regimes, causing serious health risks for laser operators. In the meantime, more than twenty influencing factors have been identified with substantial effects on X-ray photon emission released by ultrashort pulse laser processes. The presented study on enhanced X-ray emission arising from high pulse repetition frequency ultrashort pulse laser processing provides new insights into the interrelation of the highest-contributing parameters. It is verified by the example of AISI 304 substrates that X-ray photon emission can considerably exceed the legal dose rate limit when ultrashort laser pulses with peak intensities below 1 × 1013 W/cm² irradiate at a 0.5 MHz pulse repetition frequency. The peak intensity threshold value for X-ray emissions decreases with larger laser spot sizes and longer pulse durations. Another key finding of this study is that the suction flow conditions in the laser processing area can affect the released X-ray emission dose rate. The presented results support the development of effective X-ray protection strategies for safe and risk-free ultrashort pulse laser operation in industrial and academic research applications.  相似文献

As an emerging composite processing technology, the grind-hardening process implements efficient removal on workpiece materials and surface strengthening by the effective utilization of grinding heat. The strengthening effect of grind-hardening on a workpiece surface is principally achieved by a hardened layer, which is chiefly composed of martensite. As a primary parameter to evaluate the strengthening effect, the hardness of the hardened layer mostly depends on the surface microstructure of the workpiece. On this basis, this paper integrated the finite element (FE) and cellular automata (CA) approach to explore the distribution and variation of the grinding temperature of the workpiece surface in a grind-hardening process. Moreover, the simulation of the transformation process of “initial microstructure–austenite–martensite” for the workpiece helps determine the martensite fraction and then predict the hardness of the hardened layer with different grinding parameters. Finally, the effectiveness of the hardness prediction is confirmed by the grind-hardening experiment. Both the theoretical analysis and experiment results show that the variation in the grinding temperature will cause the formation to a certain depth of a hardened layer on the workpiece surface in the grind-hardening process. Actually, the martensite fraction determines the hardness of the hardened layer. As the grinding depth and feeding speed increase, the martensite fraction grows, which results in an increase in its hardness value.  相似文献

In the present work, an oxygen hardening of near-β phase Ti–13Nb–13Zr alloy in plasma glow discharge at 700–1000 °C was studied. The influence of the surface treatment on the alloy microstructure, tribological and micromechanical properties, and corrosion resistance is presented. A strong influence of the treatment on the hardened zone thickness, refinement of the α’ laths and grain size of the bulk alloy were found. The outer hardened zone contained mainly an oxygen-rich Ti α’ (O) solid solution. The microhardness and elastic modulus of the hardened zone decreased with increasing hardening temperature. The hardened zone thickness, size of the α’ laths, and grain size of the bulk alloy increased with increasing treatment temperature. The wear resistance of the alloy oxygen-hardened at 1000 °C was about two hundred times, and at 700 °C, even five hundred times greater than that of the base alloy. Oxygen hardening also slightly improved the corrosion resistance. Tribocorrosion tests revealed that the alloy hardened at 700 °C was wear-resistant in a corrosive environment, and when the friction process was completed, the passive film was quickly restored. The results show that glow discharge plasma oxidation is a simple and effective method to enhance the micromechanical and tribological performance of the Ti–13Nb–13Zr alloy.  相似文献

A GPM-30 fatigue machine was used to investigate the influence of surface ultrasonic rolling (SURT) on the rolling contact fatigue (RCF) life of D2 wheel steel. The experimental results present that the RCF life of the grinding processing sample is 4.1 × 105 cycles. During the RCF process, the flaking of the fine grain layer and high surface roughness of the grinding processing sample cause the production of RCF cracks. When the samples are treated by SURT with 0.2 MPa and 0.4 MPa, the RCF life is 9.2 × 105 cycles and 9.6 × 105 cycles, respectively. After SURT, the surface roughness of the samples is reduced, and a certain thickness of gradient-plastic-deformation layer and a residual-compressive-stress layer are produced. These factors lead to the improvement of the RCF property. However, when the static pressure increases to 0.6 MPa during SURT, the RCF life of the sample is reduced during RCF testing. The micro-cracks, which are formed during SURT, become the crack source and cause the formation of RCF cracks, decreasing of the RCF life.  相似文献

The design of flexible sensors which can be incorporated in textile structures is of decisive importance for the future development of wearables. In addition to their technical functionality, the materials chosen to construct the sensor should be nontoxic, affordable, and compatible with future recycling. Conductive fibres were produced by incorporation of carbon black into regenerated cellulose fibres. By incorporation of 23 wt.% and 27 wt.% carbon black, the surface resistance of the fibres reduced from 1.3 × 1010 Ω·cm for standard viscose fibres to 2.7 × 103 and 475 Ω·cm, respectively. Fibre tenacity reduced to 30–50% of a standard viscose; however, it was sufficient to allow processing of the material in standard textile operations. A fibre blend of the conductive viscose fibres with polyester fibres was used to produce a needle-punched nonwoven material with piezo-electric properties, which was used as a pressure sensor in the very low pressure range of 400–1000 Pa. The durability of the sensor was demonstrated in repetitive load/relaxation cycles. As a regenerated cellulose fibre, the carbon-black-incorporated cellulose fibre is compatible with standard textile processing operations and, thus, will be of high interest as a functional element in future wearables.  相似文献

In this study, the effects of ultrasonic nanocrystal surface modification (UNSM) technology on the tribological properties and scratch-induced adhesion behavior of a heat-resistant KHR 45A steel cracking tube, which is used for the pyrolysis process, were investigated. The main objective of this study is to investigate the effects of pre- and post-carburizing UNSM treatment on the tribological and adhesion performances of carburized domestic KHR 45A (A) steel and to compare the results with the existing carburized Kubota-made KHR 45A steel (B). A carburizing process was carried out on the polished and UNSM-treated KHR 45A steel substrates, which were cut out from the cracking tube, at 300 °C heat exposure for 300 h. The thickness of the carburizing layer was about 10 μm. UNSM technology was applied as pre- and post-carburizing surface treatment; both reduced the friction coefficient and wear rate compared to that of the carburized KHR 45A steel substrate. It was also found that the application of UNSM technology increased the critical load, which implies the improvement of adhesion behavior between the carburizing layer and the KHR steel substrate. The application of UNSM technology as pre- and post-carburizing surface treatment could help replace carburized Kubota-made KHR 45A steel (B) thanks to the improved tribological performance, enhanced scratch resistance, load bearing capacity, and adhesion of domestic KHR 45A (A) steel.  相似文献

In this paper, a quick nanosecond laser micro structuring process was employed to change the surface wettability of Ti6Al4V alloy. The same laser structuring method was used throughout, but with varying input fluence. The laser processing parameters resulted in high surface melting. After laser treatment, four post-processing methods were used, namely high vacuum, low temperature annealing, storage in a polyethylene bag, and storage in ambient air. Subsequently, the water droplet contact angle was measured over a long time period of 55 days. The results show that the sample stored in ambient air remained hydrophilic. On the other hand, the sample post-processed in a vacuum chamber behaved hydrophobically with a contact angle of approximately 150°. Other post-processing did not lead to specific wettability behavior. After wettability testing, all samples were cleaned ultrasonically in distilled water. This cleaning process led to annulation of all obtained properties through post-processing. In summary, this paper shows that it is more important to study surface chemistry than topography in terms of effects on wettability. Moreover, surface wettability can be controlled by laser structuring, post-processing, and surface cleaning.  相似文献
