The interfacial polycondensation of titanium dioxide was studied at the bare and fiberglass membrane supported polarized liquid–liquid interface (LLI). Titanium dioxide synthesis was derived from the titanium (IV) tetrabutoxide (initially dissolved in the 1,2-dichloroethane) interfacial hydrolysis followed by its condensation. Experimental parameters, such as the pH of the aqueous phase and the influence of titanium alkoxide concentration in the organic phase on the electrochemical signal and material morphology, were investigated. The latter was achieved with fiberglass membranes used as the LLI support during TiO2 interfacial deposition. Cyclic voltammetry was used for the in situ studies, whereas scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and infrared spectroscopy were used during ex situ examination. The interfacial polycondensation reaction could be studied using electrified LLI and resulted in the material being a TiO2 film alone or film decorated with particles.  相似文献

This study aimed to create a biomaterial from titanium dioxide (TiO2), which has been known to have photocatalytic and bone formation promoting effects. I expected that anatase titanium dioxide-based implants could promote bone augmentation and induce bone formation. Powdery anatase TiO2 was compression molded and sintered at 700, 800, 900, and 1000 °C to prepare sintered compact samples. X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy were used to observe the surface of these samples. Furthermore, mouse osteoblast-like cells (MC3T3-E1 cell line) were seeded on the samples sintered at different temperatures, and cell proliferation was observed to evaluate the cell proliferation of the samples. The sample sintered at 700 °C was composed of anatase TiO2. The samples sintered at 800 °C and 900 °C were confirmed to consist of a mixture of anatase and rutile TiO2 crystalline phases. Moreover, the sample sintered at 700 and 800 °C, which contained anatase TiO2, showed remarkable photocatalytic activity. Those samples sintered at 1000 °C were transformed to the rutile TiO2. The cell proliferation after 7–14-days culturing revealed that cells cultured on the 700 °C sample decreased in number immediately after initiation of culturing. The cells cultured on TiO2 sintered at 900 °C markedly proliferated over time with an increase in the alkaline phosphatase activity, showing good MC3T3-E1 cell compatibility of the samples. The sample sintered at 1000 °C, which is rutile TiO2, showed the highest increase.  相似文献

Titanium dioxide photoanodes for hydrogen generation suffer from a profound mismatch between the optical absorption of TiO2 and the solar spectrum. To solve the problem of low solar-to-chemical efficiency, optically active materials are proposed. In this work, TiO2 thin films containing erbium were deposited by radio frequency RF magnetron sputtering under ultrahigh vacuum conditions UHV. Morphology, structural, optical and electronic properties were studied. TiO2:Er thin films are homogenous, with uniform distribution of Er ions and high transparency over the visible VIS range of the light spectrum. However, a profound 0.4 eV blue shift of the fundamental absorption edge with respect to undoped TiO2 was observed, which can be attributed either to the size effect due to amorphization of TiO2 host or to the onset of precipitation of Er2Ti2O7 nanocrystals. Near-infrared NIR to VIS up-conversion is demonstrated upon excitation at 980 nm, while strong green photoluminescence at 525 and 550 nm occurs upon photon absorption at 488 nm.  相似文献

Considering the increase in research regarding environmental pollution reduction, the utilization of cementitious material, a commonly used construction material, in photocatalysts has become a desirable research field for the widespread application of photocatalytic degradation technology. Nano-reinforcement technology for cementitious materials has been extensively researched and developed. In this work, as a new and promising reinforcing agent for cementitious materials, the photocatalytic performance of titanium dioxide nanotube (TNT) was investigated. The degradation of methylene blue was used to evaluate the photocatalytic performance of the TNT-reinforced cement paste. In addition, cement paste containing micro-TiO2 (m-TiO2) and nano-TiO2 (n-TiO2) particles were used for comparison. Moreover, the effect of these TiO2-based photocatalytic materials on the cement hydration products was monitored via X-ray diffraction (XRD) and thermogravimetric analysis (TG). The results indicated that all the TiO2 based materials promoted the formation of hydration products. After 28 days of curing, the TNT-reinforced cement paste contained the maximum amount of hydration products (Ca(OH)2). Furthermore, the cement paste containing TNT exhibited better photocatalytic effects than that containing n-TiO2, but worse than that containing m-TiO2.  相似文献

To increase the sensitivity of the analysis method of good copper sample preparation is essential. In this context, an analytical method was developed for sensitive determination of Cu (II) in environmental water samples by using TiO2 nanotubes as a solid-phase extraction absorbent (SPE). Factors affecting the extraction efficiency including the type, volume, concentration, and flow rate of the elution solvent, the mass of the adsorbent, and the volume, pH, and flow rate of the sample were evaluated and optimized. TiO2 nanotubes exhibited their good enrichment capacity for Cu (II) (~98%). Under optimal conditions, the method of the analysis showed good linearity in the range of 0–22 mg L−1 (R2 > 0.99), satisfactory repeatability (relative standard deviation: RSD was 3.16, n = 5), and a detection limit of about 32.5 ng mL−1. The proposed method was applied to real water samples, and the achieved recoveries were above 95%, showing minimal matrix effect and the robustness of the optimized SPE method.  相似文献

Using butyl titanate and absolute ethanol as raw materials, TiO2 was prepared by a hydrothermal method with different hydrothermal times, and the influences of hydrothermal time on the structure and photocatalytic performance of TiO2 were investigated. The obtained samples were characterized by XRD, SEM, TEM, BET, PL and DRS, separately. The results show that TiO2 forms anatase when the hydrothermal time is 12 h, forms a mixed crystal composed of anatase and rutile when the hydrothermal time is 24 h, and forms rutile when the hydrothermal time is 36 h. With the extension of hydrothermal time, anatase gradually transforms into rutile and the surface area decreases. Although TiO2-24 h and TiO2-36 h show lower photoinduced charge recombination and higher light source utilization, TiO2-12 h exhibits the highest photocatalytic activity owing to its largest surface area (145.3 m2/g). The degradation degree of rhodamine B and tetracycline hydrochloride reach 99.6% and 90.0% after 45 min.  相似文献

Background: The clinical success of post-core restorations is determined by the composite utilized and the strength of the post-core adhesion. The effectiveness of titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2 NPs) as a multifunctional material with photo-induced activities and better mechanical characteristics are observed as particle size is reduced to under 50 nm. Aim: The purpose of this study is to determine the bond strength of fibre-reinforced composite (FRC) posts with TiO2 NP as fillers and to compare it with conventional composite resin core material. Materials and Methods: 30 single-rooted mandibular premolars were selected and routine root canal procedures were done. A quantity of 5% TiO2 NPs were synthesized and added as silanized filler to the experimental composite resin. Post space was prepared and fibre-reinforced composite (FRC) post luting was performed. The specimens were then grouped into the following groups: Group I consisted of the experimental composite resin containing 5% TiO2 fillers, Group II consisted of core X flow, and Group III consisted of Multicore Flow. All test groups were submitted for thermocycling. After this, the samples were tested for micro tensile bond strength. A stereomicroscope with a magnification of 20× was used to examine the fractured surfaces. The data were analysed using one-way ANOVA and Tukey HSD tests. Results: Statistical analysis revealed that Group I showed the highest mean bond strength value of 35.6180 Mpa. The results obtained with Group III showed the lowest mean bond strength value of 19.4690 Mpa. Adhesive failures were identified by stereomicroscopy of the fractured surfaces. Conclusion: The experimental composite resin comprising 5% TiO2 NP had a greater bond to the FRC post than other materials tested.  相似文献

This article presents studies on the ammonium fluoride processing of dusts from the reduction smelting of ilmenite concentrate with separation of silicon to obtain titanium dioxide. Optimal conditions for pyrohydrolysis of titanium fluorides were determined. The effects of temperature and duration on the process were studied. The optimal conditions for pyrohydrolysis of titanium fluorides were a temperature of 600 °C and duration of 240–300 min. The degree of titanium fluoride conversion to titanium oxide was 99.5% at these conditions. Titanium dioxide obtained by pyrohydrolysis of titanium fluorides was purified from iron, chromium, and manganese impurities. The effect of hydrochloric acid solution concentration, S:L ratio, and the process duration on the purification degree of titanium fluoride pyrohydrolysis was studied. The following optimum purification conditions were determined: hydrochloric acid solution concentration 12.5–15 wt%, temperature 25–30 °C, S:L = 1:6÷8, duration 20–30 min. The purified titanium dioxide consisted mainly of anatase. The pigmented titanium dioxide of rutile modification with 99.8 wt% TiO2 was obtained after calcination at 900 °C for 120 min.  相似文献

This research analyzes whether a titanium dioxide waste (TiO2 waste) can be used as a source material for geopolymers with good fire resistance properties. Samples with different proportions were prepared, replacing fly ashes with titanium dioxide waste on geopolymers (0, 20, 30, 40 and 100% w/w). The activating solution has a Na2O/SiO2 molar ratio of 0.98. Physical (bulk density, moisture content and water absorption) and mechanical (superficial hardness and compressive strength) characteristics have been evaluated. In addition, their thermal behavior at high temperatures (fire resistance, compressive strength at elevated temperature and absorbed energy) has also been evaluated to see if they can be used as fire insulating materials. This work also studies the radiological activity of geopolymer materials. The replacement of FA with WTiO2 increases the bulk density due to its higher specific bulk density. The highest compressive strength values were obtained with a TiO2 waste content between 30 and 40% w/w. The compressive strength decreases at high temperatures, especially when more TiO2 waste is added. When the amount of TiO2 waste is increased, so is the plateau of evaporation, and this, in turn, increases the resistance to fire. Geopolymers containing FA and TiO2 waste do not present radiological problems, although, when the TiO2 waste is increased, the activity index of the geopolymer also rises.  相似文献

Coating magnesium alloys with nitride surface layers is a prospective way of improving their intrinsically poor surface properties; in particular, their tribological and corrosion resistance. These layers are usually produced using PVD methods using magnetron sputtering or arc evaporation. Even though the thus-produced layers significantly increase the wear resistance of the alloys, their effects on corrosion resistance are unsatisfactory because of the poor tightness, characteristic of PVD-produced products. Tightness acquires crucial significance when the substrate is a highly-active magnesium alloy, hence our idea to tighten the layers by subjecting them to a post-deposition chemical-hydrothermal-type treatment. This paper presents the results of our experiments with a new hybrid surface engineering method, using a final tightening pressure hydrothermal gas treatment in overheated steam of the composite titanium nitride layers PVD, produced on AZ91D magnesium alloy. The proposed method resulted in an outstanding improvement of the performance properties, in particular resistance to corrosion and wear, yielding values that exceed those exhibited by commercially anodized alloys and austenitic stainless 316L steel. The developed hybrid method produces new, high-performance corrosion and wear resistant, lightweight magnesium base materials, suitable for heavy duty applications.  相似文献

For many applications, TiO2 must have a unique surface structure responsible for its desirable physicochemical properties. Therefore the fast and easy methods of TiO2 surface characterization are of great interest. Heated TiO2 samples and dye-modified TiO2 samples were analyzed by laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry. In the negative ion mode, two types of ions were detected, namely (TiO2)n and (TiO2)nOH. It has been established that the samples can be differentiated based on the relative ion abundances, especially with respect to the free hydroxyl group population. It indicates that laser desorption ionization mass spectrometry has the potential for the investigation of the surface properties of various TiO2 materials.  相似文献

Polypropylene (PP) is an engineered thermoplastic polymer widely used in various applications. This work aims to enhance the properties of PP with the introduction of titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles (NPs) as nanofillers. Novel nanocomposite filaments were produced at 0.5, 1, 2, and 4 wt.% filler concentrations, following a melt mixing extrusion process. These filaments were then fed to a commercially available fused filament fabrication (FFF) 3D printer for the preparation of specimens, to be assessed for their mechanical, viscoelastic, physicochemical, and fractographic properties, according to international standards. Tensile, flexural, impact, and microhardness tests, as well as dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), Raman, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), melt flow volume index (MVR), and atomic force microscopy (AFM), were conducted, to fully characterize the filler concentration effect on the 3D printed nanocomposite material properties. The results revealed an improvement in the nanocomposites properties, with the increase of the filler amount, while the microstructural effect and processability of the material was not significantly affected, which is important for the possible industrialization of the reported protocol. This work showed that PP/TiO2 can be a novel nanocomposite system in AM applications that the polymer industry can benefit from.  相似文献

Nanoscale titanium dioxide (nTiO2 (Hombikat UV 100 WP)) was applied to sewage sludge that was incinerated in a large-scale waste treatment plant. The incineration ash produced was applied to soil as fertilizer at a realistic rate of 5% and investigated in pilot plant simulations regarding its leaching behavior for nTiO2. In parallel, the applied soil material was subject to standard column leaching (DIN 19528) in order to test the suitability of the standard to predict the leaching of nanoscale contaminants from treated soil material. Relative to the reference material (similar composition but without nTiO2 application before incineration) the test material had a total TiO2 concentration, increased by a factor of two or 3.8 g/kg, respectively. In contrast, the TiO2 concentration in the respective leachates of the simulation experiment differed by a factor of around 25 (maximum 91.24 mg), indicating that the added nTiO2 might be significantly mobilisable. Nanoparticle specific analysis of the leachates (spICP-MS) confirmed this finding. In the standard column elution experiment the released amount of TiO2 in the percolates between test and reference material differed by a factor of 4 to 6. This was also confirmed for the nTiO2 concentrations in the percolates. Results demonstrate that the standard column leaching, developed and validated for leaching prediction of dissolved contaminants, might be also capable to indicate increased mobility of nTiO2 in soil materials. However, experiments with further soils are needed to verify those findings.  相似文献
