A textile reinforced concrete (TRC) system has been widely used for repair and strengthening of deteriorated reinforced concrete (RC) structures. This paper proposes an accelerated on-site installation method of a TRC system by grouting to strengthen deteriorated RC structures. Four RC slabs were strengthened with one ply of carbon textile grid and 20 mm-thick cementitious grout. The TRC strengthened slab specimens were tested under flexure and the test results were compared with those of an unstrengthened specimen and theoretical solutions. Furthermore, the TRC strengthened specimens experienced longer plastic deformation after steel yield than the unstrengthened specimen. The TRC strengthened specimens exhibited many fine cracks and finally failed by rupture of the textile. Therefore, TRC system with the proposed installation method can effectively be used for strengthening of deteriorated RC structural elements. The theoretically computed steel yield and ultimate loads overestimate the test data by 11% and 5%, respectively.  相似文献

Construction with precast or prefabricated elements requires the connecting of structural joints. This study presents an accelerated construction method to strengthen reinforced concrete (RC) slab-type elements in flexure using precast lap-spliced textile-reinforced concrete (TRC) panels. The objectives of this study are to identify the tensile behavior of a TRC system with lap-spliced textile, and to experimentally validate the performance of the proposed connecting method by flexural failure test for the concrete slabs strengthened by TRC panels with lap-spliced textile. Twenty-one coupon specimens were tested in tension with two different matrix systems and three different lap splice lengths. The influence of the lap splice length and matrix properties on the tensile performance of the TRC system was significant. Five full-scale RC slabs were strengthened by the precast TRC panels with and without the lap splice, and was tested in flexure. The results of the failure test for the strengthened specimens showed that the ultimate load of the strengthened specimen with the TRC panel increased by a maximum of 24%, compared to that of the unstrengthened specimen. Moreover, the failure-tested specimens were re-strengthened by a new TRC panel system and tested again in flexure. The objective of the re-strengthening of the damaged RC slabs by the TRC panel is to investigate whether the yielded steel reinforcement can be replaced by the TRC panel. The initial cracking load and the stiffness of the re-strengthened specimens were significantly increased by re-strengthening.  相似文献

The repair of underwater concrete structures is usually difficult work, requiring specialized materials and installation systems. This paper presents a carbon-textile-reinforced concrete (TRC) grouting system for underwater repair of concrete structures. One multi-purpose grout and two types of underwater grouts were considered in this study, and the bond performance between the substrate and grout was evaluated by a bi-surface shear test with cubic specimens. The bond strength of the repair material is greatly affected by the casting and curing conditions. When the multi-purpose grout is used, the average bond strength of the specimens cast and cured in dry conditions is only 22% of the specimens cast and cured in underwater conditions. On the other hand, the maximum difference in bond strength is, at most, 15.8% when non-dispersive, anti-washout grouts are used. Two types of installation methods were proposed and four full-scale RC slab specimens were repaired with the TRC grouting method, two for each installation method. Regardless of the installation method, the load levels that causes concrete cracking, steel yield, and the failure of specimens repaired with the TRC grouting system are at least 37.5%, 16.6%, and 21.7% greater than those of the unrepaired specimen, respectively. The test results further indicate that the influence of the grouting materials on the ultimate load-carrying capacity of the specimens repaired with the TRC grouting system is insignificant, and the maximum difference is, at most, 4%.  相似文献

The main aim of this study was to investigate the improved autogenous healing of concrete caused by a crystalline admixture in combination with textile reinforced concrete (TRC). This phenomenon (improved healing) has not yet been described by any independent study, and not at all in relation to TRC. The results of the study confirmed that the interaction between TRC and the crystalline admixture’s self-healing ability is advantageous and usable. The application of crystalline admixture could ensure the long-term entirety of the TCR element, where microcracks could occur. This allows for the creation of advantageous, thin (achieved by TRC) and waterproof (achieved by the crystalline admixtures) concrete structures. Moreover, this does not depend on temperature in the range of 4–30 °C (lower temperatures are of course problematic, as for most other cementitious materials). However, the interaction of both materials has its limits; the cracks must not be too wide (max. 0.1 mm), otherwise they will not heal. On the other hand, the advantage is that it does not matter what type of cement is used (CEM I and CEM II showed the same results), and the composition of the newly formed crystals in the cracks corresponds to the composition of the C-S-H gel, so it can be assumed that secondary hydration of the Portland cement occurred in the crack area.  相似文献

The clevis-grip tensile test is usually employed to evaluate the mechanical properties of textile reinforced concrete (TRC) composites, which is actually a bond test and is unsuitable for determining reliable design parameters. Thus, the clevis-grip tensile test needs further improvement to obtain foreseeable results concerning TRC tensile behavior. This paper presents the experimental results of twenty-one tension tests performed on basalt TRC (BTRC) thin plates with different test setups, i.e., clevis-grip and improved clevis-grip, and with different textile ratios. The influences of test setups and textile ratios on crack patterns, failure mode, and tensile stress-strain curves with characteristic parameters were analyzed in depth to judge the feasibility of the new test setup. The results indicated that with the new test setup, BTRC composites exhibited textile rupture at failure; in addition, multi-cracks occurred to the BTRC composites as the textile ratio exceeded 1.44%. In this case, the obtained results relied on textile properties, which can be considered reliable for design purposes. The modified ACK model with a textile utilization rate of 50% provided accurate predictions for the tensile stress-strain behavior of the BTRC composite derived from the improved test setup. The proposed test setup enables the adequate utilization of BTRC composite and the reliability of obtained results related to the occurrence of textile rupture; nevertheless, further work is required to better understand the key parameters affecting the textile utilization rate, such as the strength of the concrete matrix.  相似文献

This paper presents experimental investigations of reinforced concrete (RC) beams flexurally strengthened with carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) strips. Seven 3300 mm × 250 mm × 150 mm beams of the same design, with the tension reinforcement ratio of 1.01%, were tested. The beams differed in the way they were strengthened: one of the beams was the reference, two beams were passively strengthened as precracked (series B-I), two beams were passively strengthened as unprecracked (series B-II) and two beams were actively strengthened as unprecracked (series B-III). Moreover, the strengthening parameters differed between the particular series. The parameters were: CFRP strip cross-sectional areas (series B-I, B-II) or prestressing forces (series B-III). The beams were statically loaded, up to the assumed force value, in the three-point bending test and deflections at midspan were registered. After unloading the beams were suspended on flexible ropes (the free-free beam system) and their eigenfrequencies were measured using operational modal analysis (OMA). The static measurements (deflections) and the dynamic measurements (eigenfrequencies) were conducted for the adopted loading steps until failure. Static stiffnesses and dynamic stiffnesses were calculated on the basis of respectively the deflections and the eigenfrequencies. The qualitative and quantitative differences between the parameters are described.  相似文献

This paper investigates the flexural behavior of preloaded reinforced concrete (RC) beams, strengthened with Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) plates using an experimental program, analytical procedure, and Finite Element Method (FEM) simulation. The RC beams were subjected to preloads of 30%, 50% and 70% of the yielding load, prior to installation of the strengthening system. The eight RC-strengthened beams with a reinforcement configuration of 3Ø12 and two CarboDur S512 plates have been evaluated using bending tests. The failure modes of all the RC-strengthened beams were governed by the widening of flexural cracks within a constant bending zone, followed by debonding of the CFRP plates. The plates were debonding simultaneously or one plate prior to the other plate. The ultimate moment capacity is not significantly reduced while increasing preload levels from 0% to 70%. The moment capacity is increased by 70% to 80% in the CFRP strengthened beams, compared with un-strengthened beams indicating the potential of capacity enhancement that can be attained by externally bonded CFRP.  相似文献

In view of the problems of traditional repair materials for anchorage concrete of expansion joints, such as ease of damage and long maintenance cycles, the design of polyurethane concrete was optimized in this article, which could be used for rapid repair of concrete in anchorage zone of expansion joints. A new type of carbon fiber grid–polyurethane concrete system was designed, which makes the carbon fiber grid have an excellent synergistic effect with the quick-hardening and high-strength polyurethane concrete, and improved the flexural bearing capacity of the polyurethane concrete. Through the four-point bending test, the influence of the parameters such as the number of grid layers, grid width, and grid density on the flexural bearing capacity of polyurethane concrete beams was tested. The optimum preparation process parameters of carbon fiber grid were obtained to improve the flexural performance of polyurethane concrete. Compared with the Normal specimen, C-80-1’s average flexural strength increased by 47.7%, the failure strain along the beam height increased by 431.1%, and the failure strain at the bottom of the beam increased by 68.9%. The best width of the carbon fiber grid was 80 mm, and the best number of reinforcement layers was one layer. The test results show that the carbon fiber grid could improve the flexural bearing capacity of polyurethane concrete. The carbon fiber grid–polyurethane concrete system provides a new idea for rapid repair of the anchorage zone of bridge expansion joints, and solves the problems such as ease of damage and long maintenance cycles of traditional repair materials, which can be widely used in the future.  相似文献

The building sector accounts for approx. 40% of total energy consumption and approx. 36% of all greenhouse gas emissions in Europe. As the EU climate targets for 2030 call for a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by more than half compared to the emissions of 1990 and also aim for climate neutrality by 2050, there is an urgent need to achieve a significant decrease in the energy use in buildings towards Nearly Zero-Energy Buildings (nZEBs). As the energy footprint of buildings includes the energy and greenhouse gas consumption both in the construction phase and during service life, nZEB solutions have to provide energy-efficient and less carbon-intensive building materials, specific thermal insulation solutions, and a corresponding design of the nZEB. Carbon reinforced concrete (CRC) materials have proven to be excellent candidate materials for concrete-based nZEBs since they are characterized by a significantly lower CO2 consumption during component production and much a longer lifecycle. The corresponding CRC technology has been successively implemented in the last two decades and first pure CRC-based buildings are currently being built. This article presents a novel material system that combines CRC technology and suitable multifunctional insulation materials as a sandwich system in order to meet future nZEB requirements. Because of its importance for the life cycle stage of production, cost-efficient carbon fibers (CF) from renewable resources like lignin are used as reinforcing material, and reinforcement systems based on such CF are developed. Cutting edge approaches to produce ultra-thin lightweight CF reinforced concrete panels are discussed with regard to their nZEB relevance. For the life cycle stage of the utilization phase, the thermal insulation properties of core materials are optimized. In this context, novel sandwich composites with thin CRC layers and a cellular lightweight concrete core are proposed as a promising solution for façade elements as the sandwich core can additionally be combined with an aerogel-based insulation. The concepts to realize such sandwich façade elements will be described here along with a fully automated manufacturing process to produce such structures. The findings of this study provide clear evidence on the promising capabilities of the CRC technology for nZEBs on the one hand and on the necessity for further research on optimizing the energy footprint of CRC-based structural elements on the other hand.  相似文献

Carbon fiber reinforced polymers (CFRP) have shown considerable potential in the repair and rehabilitation of deficient reinforced concrete (RC) structures. To date, several CFRP strengthening schemes have been studied and employed practically. In particular, strengthening of shear damaged RC members with CFRP materials has received much attention as an effective repair and strengthening approach. Most existing studies on strengthening shear-deficient RC members have used unidirectional CFRP strips. Recent studies on strengthened T-beams demonstrated that a bidirectional CFRP layout was more effective than a unidirectional layout. As such studies are limited, in this study, the feasibility of bidirectional CFRP layouts for the shear strengthening of rectangular RC beams was experimentally evaluated. Bidirectional layout details with CFRP anchors as well as rehabilitation timing were considered and investigated. The test results showed that the members with a bidirectional CFRP layout carried less shear strength capacity than those with unidirectional layouts for the same quantity of CFRP material. Nevertheless, the bidirectional CFRP layout allowed for a uniformly distributed stirrup strain compared to the unidirectional CFRP layout at the same load level, which increased the efficiency of the transverse reinforcement. Additionally, the shear contribution of CFRP material according to the CFRP strengthening timing was verified.  相似文献

Strengthening existing reinforced concrete (RC) slabs using externally bonded materials is increasingly popular due to its adaptability and versatility. Nevertheless, ductility reduction of the rehabilitated flexural members with these materials can lead to brittle shear failure. Therefore, a new approach for strengthening is necessary. This paper presents a methodology to induce ductile failure of flexural strengthened one-way RC slabs. Ultimate failure loads can be considered to develop the proposed design methodology. Different failure modes corresponding to ultimate failure loads for RC slabs are addressed. Flexural and shear failure regions of RC slabs can be established by considering the failure modes. The end span of the concrete slab is shown for a case study, and numerical examples are solved to prove the essentiality of this methodology.  相似文献

Reinforcement corrosion poses a great threat to the safety of reinforced concrete structures, and the fiber-reinforced polymer is the ideal material to partially replace steel bars due to the high strength, light weight and good durability. However, the selection of appropriate fiber materials and a reasonable ratio of fiber bar to steel bar is not clear. Here, we measured the mechanical properties of fiber bars containing aramid fiber and carbon fiber. The deflection deformation, crack distribution and maximum crack width of the concrete upon various loads were experimentally and theoretically investigated. The predictions of the maximum crack width and deflection of reinforced concrete beams under various loads were proposed in ACI standard, which may provide guidance for further applications of fiber-belt-bar-containing concrete beams.  相似文献

Structures and bridges are being designed on the proposed and requested design lifetime of 50 to 100 years. In practice, one can see that the real lifetime of structures and bridges is shorter in many cases, in some special cases extremely shorter. The reasons for the lifetime shortening can be increased of the load cases (e.g., due to traffic on bridges, or due to other uses of a structure), using the material of lower quality, implementation of new standards and codes according to Eurocode replacing older ones. During the whole lifetime the structures must be maintained to fulfil the code requests. If the constructions are not able to fulfil the Ultimate Limit States (ULS) and the Serviceability Limit State (SLS), the structures or bridges have to be strengthened (whole or its elements). The purpose of the paper is the presentation of using a layer of the fibre concrete for a columns’ strengthening. Using the fibre reinforced concrete (FRC) of higher tensile strength makes it possible to increase the load-bearing capacity of the cross-section the column. The contact between the old concrete (core of column) and newly added layer (around column) is very important for using that method of strengthening. Emerging as a new technology, carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) has been introduced to rehabilitate and strengthen steel structures using an adhesive agent. However, the outdoor service temperature is potentially degrading to the mechanical strength of the adhesive, as well as affecting the bonding of the strengthened steel structure. Therefore, this paper aims to investigate the bond relationship of CFRP-strengthened steel plates exposed to service temperatures. Two types of experiments were conducted to determine the tensile and flexural performance of CFRP-strengthened steel plates. The experiments were designed using a Box–Behnken design (BBD) and response surface methodology (RSM) by considering three parameters: service temperature (25 °C, 45 °C and 70 °C), number of CFRP layers (one, three and five layers) and bond length (40, 80 and 120 mm). The findings show the dominant failure mode transformed from adhesion failure between steel and adhesive interfaces to adhesion failure between CFRP and adhesive interfaces as the service temperature increased. The tensile strength improved by 25.62% when the service temperature increased. Field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) analysis proved that the strength enhancement is due to the densification and reduction of the adhesive particle microstructure gaps through the softening effect at service temperature. However, service temperature is found to have less impact on flexural strength. Incorporating the experimental results in RSM, two quadratic equations were developed to estimate the tensile and flexural strength of CFRP-strengthened steel plates. The high coefficient of determination, R2, yields at 0.9936 and 0.9846 indicate the high reliability of the models. Hence, it can be used as an estimation tool in the design stage.  相似文献

The purpose of the work is an experimental analysis of the behavior of reinforced concrete beams with a new, patented system of truss-shaped reinforcement. Experimental tests of reinforced concrete beams with conventional reinforcement and with truss-shaped, mass equivalent reinforcement, with two different values of longitudinal reinforcement ratio, were carried out. The testing results of the load-carrying capacity and displacements of beams are presented. The cracking and failure mechanism of beams with a new truss-shaped reinforcement system was also analyzed. The test results for conventionally reinforced beams and with truss-shaped reinforcement were compared. The test results show that the use of the truss reinforcement has an influence on increasing the load-carrying capacity of beams. The amount of this increase depends on the total longitudinal reinforcement ratio and reaches as much as 95% for beams with a low reinforcement ratio and 12% for beams with a higher reinforcement ratio. Based on the investigation of the cracking mechanism, it can be concluded that the failure of the beams with transverse truss-shaped reinforcement occurs with a greater number of smaller cracks, which are more evenly distributed along the length of the cracking zone, and have a shorter range over the cross-section depth, which results in their smaller opening widths. The comparative analysis shows the effectiveness of the proposed reinforcement system, justifying the high potential possibilities of its use for the reinforcement of concrete structural elements.  相似文献

This paper describes a study on finite element modeling (FEM) carried out on the ABAQUS platform for the prediction of flexural strength of corrosion-damaged reinforced concrete (RC) beams strengthened using layers of ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC). Considering different combinations of the degree of reinforcement corrosion and thickness and configuration of UHPC layers, a total of twenty-two corroded, un-strengthened, and strengthened RC beam specimens were tested to record their flexural behavior. Following the flexural testing, the FEM was carried out considering the degradation in the diameter and the yielding strength of the corroded reinforcing bars. The cohesive surface bonding approach was used to simulate the interfacial bond stress slip between the corroded bars and surrounding concrete. The results of the FEM were validated using the experimental test results of the respective beam specimens. The FEM results (including crack pattern, flexural strength, stiffness, and linear and nonlinear behavior of the strengthened RC beams) were found to be in close agreement with the corresponding experimental test results. This indicates that the proposed FEMs can capture the flexural behavior of the corroded RC beams strengthened using layers of UHPC with high accuracy. Furthermore, a parametric study was carried out using the validated FEMs to investigate the effects of varying the compressive strength and thickness of UHPC layers on the flexural strength of the corroded strengthened RC beams.  相似文献

Fiber reinforcement of concrete is an effective technique of providing ductility to concrete, increasing its flexural residual strength while reducing its potential for cracking due to drying shrinkage. There are currently a wide variety of industrial fibers on the market. Recycled steel fibers (RSF) from tires could offer a viable substitute of industrialized fibers in a more sustainable and eco-friendly way. However, mistrust exists among users, based on fear that the recycling process will reduce the performance, coupled with the difficulty of characterization of the geometry of the RSF, as a consequence of the size variability introduced by the recycling process. This work compares the behavior of RSF from tires compared with industrialized steel or polypropylene fibers, evaluating the fresh state, compressive strength, flexural residual strength, and drying behavior. The concept of Equivalent Fiber Length (EFL) is also defined to help the statistical geometrical characterization of the RSF. A microstructural analysis was carried out to evaluate the integration of the fiber in the matrix, as well as the possible presence of contaminants. The conclusion is reached that the addition of RSF has a similar effect to that of industrialized fibers on concrete’s properties when added at the same percentage.  相似文献

Existing experimental research on bond properties of the interface between Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) and damaged concrete is limited, although CFRP strengthening technology has been widely used for corroded reinforced concrete structures. This work investigated the bond behavior of CFRP to the corrosion-cracked concrete interface, in which three factors were considered for experimentation, including corrosion degree, concrete strength and concrete cover thickness. The tests were conducted by developing a self-balancing double shear lap test device. In addition, a corrosion scene was provided simultaneously to simulate the external corrosion environment. The results showed that three peeling modes of CFRP sheets were observed with respect to corrosion degrees of the steel bars. The effects of the three factors on the stripping bearing capacity and effective bond length of CFRP sheets were discussed by systematic parametric analysis. Finally, a nonlinear degenerate law of CFRP-to-concrete interface considering the corrosion degree was improved and verified in this study.  相似文献

This paper presents an investigation of the bond mechanism between carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) laminates, concrete and steel in the near-surface mounted (NSM) CFRP-strengthened reinforced concrete (RC) beam-bond tests. The experimental program consisting of thirty modified concrete beams flexurally strengthened with NSM CFRP strips was published in. The effects of five parameters and their interactions on the ultimate load carrying capacities and the associated bond mechanisms of the beams are investigated in this paper with consideration of the following investigated parameters: beam span, beam depth, longitudinal tensile steel reinforcement ratio, the bond length of the CFRP strips and compressive concrete strength. The longitudinal steel reinforcement was cut at the beam mid-span in four beams to investigate a better assessment of the influence of the steel reinforcement ratio on the bond behaviour of CFRP to concrete bond behaviour. The numerical analysis implemented in this paper is based on a nonlinear micromechanical finite element model (FEM) that was used for investigation of the flexural behaviour of NSM CFRP-strengthened members. The 3D model based on advanced CFRP to concrete bond responses was introduced to modelling of tested specimens. The FEM procedure presents the orthotropic behaviour of the CFRP strips and the bond response between the CFRP and concrete. Comparison of the experimental and numerical results revealed an excellent agreement that confirms the suitability of the proposed FE model.  相似文献

3D printing allows controlled deposition of composite components, which the user defines by the modification of the printing parameters. The article demonstrates that all observed printing parameters (infill type, infill orientation) influence the tensile test results of nylon reinforced with chopped carbon fiber. The highest tensile strength obtains specimens with the maximum number of walls around the circumference. The plastic region of the tensile diagram differs significantly with the change of material orientation in the structure, as the specimens with material deposited 45/−45 to the load axis have four times greater tensile strains and 20% higher tensile stresses than 0/90. The assessment of results reveals the significant difference between deformations at break and permanent deformations. In addition, the permanent lateral strain reaches up to 20%. Finally, the article consists of a brief assessment of the printing parameters (printing time, weight) of individual series. The future modelling in FEA software requires additional experiments to verify the viscoelastic properties of the material.  相似文献
