A move? For the NMA? Hmmmm?

The National Medical Association as an organization has served the interest and community of African-American and other minority physicians since its inception in 1895. From its current vantage point in Washington, DC, the NMA has been able to well represent the organization's agenda with direct access to the nations' power brokers. As we embark on our next 100 years, there are some strategic organizational decisions that must be confronted and dealt with. This would include, among other matters, the economic feasibility of our continued presence in DC in the face of our seemingly enduring legacy of economic concerns or viability as a group. Therefore, I write this article as a prelude to our debating the matter in more detail at a date soon to come. Perhaps.     

What is the MHC?

The major histocompatibility complex (MHC) has been studied for many years, but it still continues to puzzle geneticists and immunologists alike. Nevertheless, the study of MHC evolution is providing insights into some of its enigmas, and these were discussed at a recent meeting.¹
