Efficacy and tolerability of a combination of Lyprinol® and high concentrations of EPA and DHA in inflammatory rheumatoid disorders

This 12-week drug-monitoring study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of Sanhelios Mussel Lyprinol Lipid Complex on 50 adult men and women with inflammatory rheumatoid arthritis. A total of 34 patients required drug therapy before and during the study. By the end of the study, 21 (62%) patients were able to reduce their dosage and 13 were able to terminate drug therapy. At the end of the treatment period, 38% were regarded symptom free, and the number of patients with severe pain decreased significantly from 60% at baseline to 25% at the completion of the trial. A significant effect was observed for each investigated parameter. The special combination of Lyprinol and omega-3 fatty acids was generally very well tolerated, with only one, nonserious adverse event (mild nausea) reported. This dietary supplement may therefore be considered an effective and well-tolerated component of treatment regimens for inflammatory rheumatoid arthritis.

Investigation of features of hemostasis sponge of collagen and chitosan compound

AIM：To investigate the hemostasis effect of hemostasis sponge of collagen and chitosan compound invitro and in vivo.METHODS:The hemostasis sponge of collagen and chitosan compound was made by mixing collegen I extracted by enzymelytic methods and crosslinked by glutaric dialdeiyde and then lyophilized.The New zealand rabbit were created with a 1cm&;#215;1cm wound in the center artery of the ear.The center artery of the ear were transected and record the hemostasis time since pressured with hemostasis sponge of collagen and chitosan compound and obsevve its effects.In other experiements,1cm&;#215;1cm bleeding wound were established in the liver of the rabbit.Then pressured with hemostasis sponge of collagen and chitosan compound on the wounds and record the hemostasis time;The four corner of the hemostasis sponge of collagen and chitosan compound were sutured to investigate the absorption situation with the control of gelatin treated with same procedures.RESULTS:The bleeding time using hemostasis sponge of collagen and chitosan compound was 120 seconds compared with 600 seconds of using gelatin,and the hemostasis time using hemostasis sponge of collagen and chitosan compound was 40 weconds compared with 75 seconds of using gelatin.Both the hemostasis sponge of collagen and chitosan compound and gelatin can be degradated within 5 months.CONCLUSION:Hemostasis effect of hemostasis sponge of collagen and chitosan compound is better than that of gelatin and it has an promising future in surgery.

The Cognitive and Emotional Phenomenology of Depression and Anxiety: Are Worry and Hopelessness the Cognitive Correlates of NA and PA?

The study attempted to integrate the cognitive content-specificity and tripartite literatures to create a more holistic model of the emotional, physiological, and cognitive phenomenology of depression and anxiety. In addition, the constructs of hopelessness and worry were used to clarify ambiguous findings in the cognitive content-specificity research and to identify possible cognitive correlates of high NA and low PA. The results from 124 clients at a university counseling center supported this attempt at integrating these literatures. Overall, there was good evidence that worry is a cognitive correlate of high NA. Consequently, we view worry and high NA as features of a constellation of correlated indices that are shared with both depressed and anxious mood states. Alternatively, the results also support the position that hopelessness is a cognitive correlate of low PA. These features—low PA and hopelessness—define correlated indices that help discriminate depressed from anxious states. We view this integration of the cognitive and emotional literatures as providing evidence for a comprehensive map of the emotional and cognitive phenomenology in depression and anxiety.     

Linkage Disequilibrium and Haplotype Analysis of COX‐2 and Risk of Colorectal Adenoma Development

Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the promoter and untranslated region of cyclooxygenase (COX)‐2, an inducible enzyme responsible for the synthesis of prostaglandins, have been reported to modulate the risk for many human cancers. We performed comprehensive linkage disequilibrium (LD) and haplotype analyses of 13 single nucleotide polymorphisms of the COX‐2 gene and examined its susceptibility to adenoma development in 72 African American cases and 142 controls. Results revealed significant variation in LD patterns with consequence for adenoma development. Two distinct haplotype blocks were identified; one block covered the coding regions of exon 1, introns and a section of the 3′‐unstranslated region (3′‐UTR), whereas the second block resided solely in the 3′‐UTR region. A haplotype in block 1 increased the risk of adenoma development by threefold (odds ratio [OR]= 2.9, confidence interval [CI]= 1.8–3.7, P= 0.002). Regression analysis showed, increase in copies of minor alleles of 6,064(T>C) polymorphism associated with increased odds of adenoma development by 80% (OR = 1.80, CI = 1.09–3.21, P= 0.034), 10,848(G>A) by 84% (OR = 1.84, CI = 1.05–3.23, P= 0.034) and 10,935(A>G) by 32% (OR = 1.32, CI = 1.12–3.69, P= 0.036). These results support the hypothesis that COX‐2 gene might play a role in the etiology of colon cancer and warrant further investigation in other cancers. Besides, these variations should be taken into account for disease‐based association studies in which the COX‐2 polymorphism is considered as a candidate gene. Objective To explore the effects of acupuncture and balance facilitation of muscular tension on the early rehabilitatio n of patients with stroke and hemiplegia.Methods Divided the 96 patients with acute stroke hemiplegia into group A and Brandomly(group B as control) Evaluate the rehabilitation before and after therapy,and deal with the data in statistics.The courses are 26 t 28 days.In group A.stab negative channel and points of upper limb as well as positive channel and points of lower limb of paralysis side in flaccid paralysis tage,After the muscular tension resumed,stab positive points of upper limb and negative points of lower limb,and try to recover the balance of muscular tension,and avoid muscular spasm to establish normal moving pattern,Results Compared with control group,group A hac prominent difference on the process of musculwar tension resuming.Incidence rate of muscular spasm,the ration of reeducing of neurologic impairment scores and increasing of motor function integral(FMA),MBI of the ability of daily life(ALD)as well as index of quality of life(QLI),P&;lt;0.01, Conclusion A cuppuncture and balance facillitation of muscular tension are useful in the early rehabilitation in hemiplegia.
