This study investigated the flexural and impact performances of mortar composite made with carbon fibers (MCCF). Four mortar composites (MCCF1, MCCF2, MCCF3, and MCCF4) were produced, using 1%, 2%, 3%, and 4% carbon fibers by volume, respectively. Another mortar composite without any carbon fibers (MCCF0) was prepared for its use as a control mix. The freshly mixed mortar composites were tested for inverted slump cone flow time to ensure they had an adequate workability to cast test specimens under vibration. In addition, all fresh mortar composites were examined for density and air content. The hardened mortar composites were tested for their first-crack flexural strength, ultimate flexural strength, first-crack impact resistance, and ultimate impact resistance. Moreover, the first-crack flexural toughness, ultimate flexural toughness, first-crack impact toughness, and ultimate impact toughness were determined for all hardened mortar composites. The correlations among the hardened properties of the mortar composites were also sought. Finally, the optimum fiber content was defined from the overall test results and considering the costs of the mortar composites. The test results showed that the workability and density of the fresh mortar composite decreased, whereas its air content increased due to the inclusion of carbon fibers. However, MCCF3 possessed the highest density and lowest air content among all MCCF mixes. It also had a higher workability than MCCF4. In the hardened state, the first-crack flexural strength and impact resistance, as well as the ultimate flexural strength and impact resistance of mortar composite, increased significantly with the increasing volume content of carbon fibers. In addition, the first-crack flexural toughness, ultimate flexural toughness, first-crack impact toughness, and ultimate impact toughness increased greatly with the higher volume content of carbon fibers. Strong correlations between the flexural strength and impact resistance, and between the flexural toughness and impact toughness of the mortar composites, were observed. Above all, excellent flexural strength, flexural toughness, impact resistance, and impact toughness values were observed for MCCF4 (4% carbon fibers). The 28-day ultimate flexural strength and impact resistance of MCCF4 increased by 4.6 MPa and 134 blows, respectively, as compared to MCCF0. Moreover, the 28-day ultimate flexural toughness and ultimate impact toughness values of MCCF4 were higher than that of MCCF0, by 3739.7 N-mm and 2703.3 J, respectively. However, MCCF3 (3% carbon fibers) also exhibited a good performance under flexural and impact loadings. Based on the costs of all mortar composites and their performances in both fresh and hardened states, MCCF3 was derived as the best mortar mix. This implies that 3% carbon fibers can be defined as the optimum fiber content in the context of the present study.  相似文献

This paper discusses the performance of the short pitch-based carbon fiber reinforced mortar (CFRM) composite considering its key properties and cost-effectiveness. Five different types of mortar composite were produced using 0–4% volume contents of short pitch-based carbon fibers. The mortar composites were tested for inverted slump cone flow (flow time and volume flow), unit weight, air content, compressive strength, flexural strength, impact resistance, and water absorption. The cost-effectiveness of CFRM was assessed based on the performance to cost ratio (PCR), which was calculated for each mortar composite, considering its workability, mechanical properties, and durability. The inverted slump cone volume flow was counted as a measure of workability, whereas the compressive strength, flexural strength, and impact resistance were considered as the major attributes of the mechanical behavior. In addition, the water absorption was used as a measure of durability. The test results revealed that the mortar composite made with 3% carbon fibers provided adequate workability, a relatively high unit weight and low air content, the highest compressive strength, excellent flexural strength, good impact resistance, and the lowest water absorption. It was also found that the PCR increased up to 3% carbon fibers. Beyond a 3% fiber content, the PCR significantly decreased. The overall research findings revealed that the mortar with 3% carbon fibers was the optimum and most cost-effective mortar composite.  相似文献

Coir fiber is a by-product waste generated in large scale. Considering that most of these wastes do not have a proper disposal, several applications to coir fibers in engineering have been investigated in order to provide a suitable use, since coir fibers have interesting properties, namely high tensile strength, high elongation at break, low modulus of elasticity, and high abrasion resistance. Currently, coir fiber is widely used in concrete, roofing, boards and panels. Nonetheless, only a few studies are focused on the incorporation of coir fibers in rendering mortars. This work investigates the feasibility to incorporate coir fibers in rendering mortars with two different binders. A cement CEM II/B-L 32.5 N was used at 1:4 volumetric cement to aggregate ratio. Cement and air-lime CL80-S were used at a volumetric ratio of 1:1:6, with coir fibers were produced with 1.5 cm and 3.0 cm long fibers and added at 10% and 20% by total mortar volume. Physical and mechanical properties of the coir fiber-reinforced mortars were discussed. The addition of coir fibers reduced the workability of the mortars, requiring more water that affected the hardened properties of the mortars. The modulus of elasticity and the compressive strength of the mortars with coir fibers decreased with increase in fiber volume fraction and length. Coir fiber’s incorporation improved the flexural strength and the fracture toughness of the mortars. The results emphasize that the cement-air-lime based mortars presented a better post-peak behavior than that of the cementitious mortars. These results indicate that the use of coir fibers in rendering mortars presents a potential technical and sustainable feasibility for reinforcement of cement and cement-air-lime mortars.  相似文献

This study was carried out to investigate the effect of the diamond-shaped Interlocking Chain Plastic Bead (ICPB) on fiber-reinforced fly ash-based geopolymer concrete. In this study, geopolymer concrete was produced using fly ash, NaOH, silicate, aggregate, and nylon66 fibers. Characterization of fly ash-based geopolymers (FGP) and fly ash-based geopolymer concrete (FRGPC) included chemical composition via XRF, functional group analysis via FTIR, compressive strength determination, flexural strength, density, slump test, and water absorption. The percentage of fiber volume added to FRGPC and FGP varied from 0% to 0.5%, and 1.5% to 2.0%. From the results obtained, it was found that ICBP fiber led to a negative result for FGP at 28 days but showed a better performance in FRGPC reinforced fiber at 28 and 90 days compared to plain geopolymer concrete. Meanwhile, NFRPGC showed that the optimum result was obtained with 0.5% of fiber addition due to the compressive strength performance at 28 days and 90 days, which were 67.7 MPa and 970.13 MPa, respectively. Similar results were observed for flexural strength, where 0.5% fiber addition resulted in the highest strength at 28 and 90 days (4.43 MPa and 4.99 MPa, respectively), and the strength performance began to decline after 0.5% fiber addition. According to the results of the slump test, an increase in fiber addition decreases the workability of geopolymer concrete. Density and water absorption, however, increase proportionally with the amount of fiber added. Therefore, diamond-shaped ICPB fiber in geopolymer concrete exhibits superior compressive and flexural strength.  相似文献

The objective of this investigation is to study the printing parameter requirements for sustainable 3D printable geopolymer materials. Side streams of the paper, mining, and construction industries were applied as geopolymer raw materials. The effect of printing parameters in terms of buildability, mixability, extrudability, curing, Al-to-Si ratio, and waste materials utilisation on the fresh and hardened state of the materials was studied. The material performance of a fresh geopolymer was measured using setting time and shape stability tests. Standardised test techniques were applied in the testing of the hardened material properties of compressive and flexural strength. The majority of developed suitable 3D printable geopolymers comprised 56–58% recycled material. Heating was used to improve the buildability and setting of the material significantly. A reactive recyclable material content of greater than 20% caused the strength and material workability to decrease. A curing time of 7–28 days increased the compressive strength but decreased the flexural strength. The layers in the test samples exhibited decreased and increased strength, respectively, in compressive and flexural strength tests. Geopolymer development was found to be a compromise between different strength values and recyclable material contents. By focusing on specialised and complex-shape products, 3D printing of geopolymers can compete with traditional manufacturing in limited markets.  相似文献

The aim of the article is to analyze the influence of short coir, glass and carbon fiber admixture on the mechanical properties of fly ash-based geopolymer, such as: flexural and compressive strength. Glass fiber and carbon fibers have been chosen due to their high mechanical properties. Natural fibers have been chosen because of their mechanical properties as well as for the sake of comparison between their properties and the properties of the artificial ones. Fourth series of fly ash-based geopolymers for each fiber was cast: 1, 2, and 5% by weight of fly ash and one control series without any fibers. Each series of samples were tested on flexural and compressive strength after 7, 14, and 28 days. Additionally, microstructural analysis was carried out after 28 days. The results have shown an increase in compressive strength for composites with fibers—an improvement in properties between 25.0% and 56.5% depending on the type and amount of fiber added. For bending strength, a clear increase in the strength value is visible for composites with 1 and 2% carbon fibers (62.4% and 115.6%). A slight increase in flexural strength also occurred for 1% addition of glass fiber (4.5%) and 2% addition of coconut fibers (5.4%). For the 2% addition of glass fibers, the flexural strength value did not change compared to the value obtained for the matrix material. For the remaining fiber additions, i.e., 5% glass fiber as well as 1 and 5% coconut fibers, the flexural strength values deteriorated. The results of the research are discussed in a comparative context and the properties of the obtained composites are juxtaposed with the properties of the standard materials used in the construction industry.  相似文献

Polyurethane cement (PUC) is now commonly used in the reinforcement of old bridges, which exhibit various issues such as poor toughness, temperature-sensitive mechanical properties, and brittle failure. These problems can lead to the failure of the reinforcement effect of the PUC on old bridges in certain operating environments, leading to the collapse of such reinforced bridges. In order to alleviate these shortcomings, in this study, the toughness of PUC is improved by adding polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fiber, carbon fiber, and steel fiber. In addition, we study the change law of the flexural strength of PUC between −40 °C and +40 °C. The control parameters evaluated are fiber type, fiber volume ratio, and temperature. A series of flexural tests and scanning electron microscope (SEM) test results show that the flexural strength first increases and then decreases with the increase in the volume-doping ratio of the three fibers. The optimum volume-mixing ratios of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fiber, carbon fiber, and steel fiber are 0.3%, 0.04% and 1%, respectively. Excessive addition of fiber will affect the operability and will adversely affect the mechanical properties. The flexural strength of both fiber-reinforced and control samples decreases with increasing temperature. Using the flexural test results, a two-factor (fiber content, temperature) BP neural network flexural strength prediction model is established. It is verified that the model is effective and accurate, and the experimental value and the predicted value are in good agreement.  相似文献

Fast-hardening cement can be used to quickly repair concrete constructions. Characterizing mechanical properties by electrical properties is a promising method to evaluate the mechanical performance nondestructively. However, little attention has been paid to this area. In this paper, copper-coated fine-steel-fibers-reinforced reactive powder concrete (RPC) with compound cement was manufactured. The mass ratio of sulphoaluminate and ordinary Portland cement in the compound cement was 1:1. The influence of copper-coated fine steel fibers with the volume increasing from 0 to 3.0% by the total volume of RPC on the working performances (fluidity and setting time), mechanical properties (flexural strength and toughness, drying shrinkage rate and compressive strength) and electrical parameters (AC electrical resistance and AC impedance spectroscopy curves) was investigated. The electron microscope energy spectrum experiment was applied in analyzing the macro properties of RPC. The results exhibited that the increasing volume of steel fibers led to decreasing the fluidity and retarding the setting of RPC. The electrical resistance of RPC decreased in the form of a quartic function with the volume of steel fibers. The steel fibers volume of 1.5% was the percolation threshold value. The specimens cured for 28 days showed higher electrical resistance than the specimens cured for 1 day. The flexural or compressive strength of the specimens satisfied a specific functional relationship with the volume of steel fibers and electrical resistance. The addition of steel fibers led to improving the flexural toughness and decreasing the shrinkage rate. Furthermore, 3.0% steel fibers could improve the flexural toughness by 3.9 times and decrease the shrinkage to 88.3% of the specimens without steel fibers.  相似文献

In this study, we estimate the potential efficiency of waste fishing net (WFN) fibers as concrete reinforcements. Three WFN fiber concentrations (1, 2, and 3% by volume) were mixed with concrete. Compressive strength, toughness, splitting tensile strength, and biaxial flexural tests were conducted. Compressive strength decreased but other properties increased as a function of fiber proportions. According to the mechanical strength observations and the ductility number, WFN fibers yielded benefits in crack arresting that improved the postcracking behavior and transformed concrete from a brittle into a quasi-brittle material. It is inferred that WFN fiber is a recycled and eco-friendly material that can be utilized as potential concrete reinforcement.  相似文献

Fiber reinforcement is currently most often used in floors, railway sleepers, prefabricated structural elements such as slabs, beams and tanks, and in small architecture elements. Designing elements or structures made of fiber-reinforced concrete requires knowledge of its basic mechanical parameters. In the case of concretes with metallic fibers, the literature can find many tests and standard guidelines regarding compressive, flexural, tensile strength and fracture energy. The properties of concretes with non-metallic fibers are slightly less recognized, especially concretes with new types of polymer fibers. Additionally, the lack of standardized methods of testing concrete with polymer fibers make their application much more difficult. In the article, the possibility of using the EN 14651 standard to assess the flexural tensile strength of concrete with the addition of 2.0 and 3.0 kg/m3 of synthetic fibers with different geometry and form was presented. There was a 5.5–13.5% increase in the flexural tensile strength depending on the mixture type. Moreover, in the case of fiber-reinforced concretes, the ductility was enhanced and the samples were characterized by significant residual flexural tensile strengths. Additionally, from the workability tests it was concluded that after the incorporation of fibers, the consistency class decreased by one, two or three. Nevertheless, the compressive strengths of concrete with and without fibers were very similar to each other, and varied from 58.05 to 61.31 MPa. Moreover, it was concluded that results obtained from three-point bending tests significantly differed from empirical formulas for the calculation of the flexural tensile strength of fiber-reinforced concretes with dispersed steel fibers present in the literature. As a result, the new formula determined by the authors was proposed for concrete with polymer fibers with a nominal fiber content ≤1.0% and slenderness of up to 200. It must be mentioned that the formula gave a very good agreement with studies presented in different literature positions. In addition, an attempt was made to evaluate the strengths of tested mixes in accordance with the Model Code 2010. However, it occurred that the proposed fiber-reinforced concrete mixtures would not be able to replace traditional reinforcement in a form of steel bars. Furthermore, in uniaxial tensile tests, it was not possible to determine the σ–w graphs, and received results for maximum tensile strength did not show the clear influence of fibers incorporation on concrete. Then, the fracture energy enhancement (from about 16 to 22 times) and dependencies: crack mouth opening displacement–deflection; crack mouth opening displacement–crack tip opening displacement; and crack tip opening displacement–deflection were analyzed. Finally, the results from flexural tensile tests were compared with measurements of the surface displacement field obtained through the Digital Image Correlation technique. It was concluded that this technique can be successfully used to determine the crack mouth and crack tip opening displacements with very high accuracy.  相似文献

Three-dimensional printed concrete (3DPC) is a relatively recent technology that may be very important in changing the traditional construction industry. The principal advantages of its use are more rapid construction, lower production costs, and less residues, among others. The choice of raw materials to obtain adequate behavior is more critical than for traditional concrete. In the present paper a mixture of cement, silica fume, superplasticizer, setting accelerator, filler materials, and aggregates was studied to obtain a 3DPC with high resistance at short curing times. When the optimal mixture was found, metallic fibers were introduced to enhance the mechanical properties. The fresh and hard properties of the concrete were analyzed, measuring the setting time, workability, and flexural and compressive strength. The results obtained demonstrated that the incorporation of fibers (2% in volume) enhanced the flexural and compressive strength by around 163 and 142%, respectively, compared with the mixture without fibers, at 9 h of curing. At 28 days of curing, the improvement was 79.2 and 34.7% for flexural and compressive strength, respectively.  相似文献

This study investigated the influence of the steel and melamine fibers hybridization on the flexural and compressive strength of a fly ash-based geopolymer. The applied reinforcement reduced the geopolymer brittleness. Currently, there are several types of polymer fibers available on the market. However, the authors did not come across information on the use of melamine fibers in geopolymer composites. Two systems of reinforcement for the composites were investigated in this work. Reinforcement with a single type of fiber and a hybrid system, i.e., two types of fibers. Both systems strengthened the base material. The research results showed the addition of melamine fibers as well as steel fibers increased the compressive and flexural strength in comparison to the plain matrix. In the case of a hybrid system, the achieved results showed a synergistic effect of the introduced fibers, which provided better strength results in relation to composites reinforced with a single type of fiber in the same amount by weight.  相似文献

Fiber reinforcement of concrete is an effective technique of providing ductility to concrete, increasing its flexural residual strength while reducing its potential for cracking due to drying shrinkage. There are currently a wide variety of industrial fibers on the market. Recycled steel fibers (RSF) from tires could offer a viable substitute of industrialized fibers in a more sustainable and eco-friendly way. However, mistrust exists among users, based on fear that the recycling process will reduce the performance, coupled with the difficulty of characterization of the geometry of the RSF, as a consequence of the size variability introduced by the recycling process. This work compares the behavior of RSF from tires compared with industrialized steel or polypropylene fibers, evaluating the fresh state, compressive strength, flexural residual strength, and drying behavior. The concept of Equivalent Fiber Length (EFL) is also defined to help the statistical geometrical characterization of the RSF. A microstructural analysis was carried out to evaluate the integration of the fiber in the matrix, as well as the possible presence of contaminants. The conclusion is reached that the addition of RSF has a similar effect to that of industrialized fibers on concrete’s properties when added at the same percentage.  相似文献

The aim of the article is to analyze the structure and mechanical properties in terms of the cracking mechanics of geopolymer composites based on fly ash and river sand, as well as metakaolin and river sand with three types of reinforcement material: glass fiber, carbon fiber, and aramid fiber, in terms of their use in additive manufacturing. Geopolymer composites were reinforced with fibers in a volume ratio of 0.5%, 1.0%, and 2.0%. Subsequently, these samples were subjected to bending strength tests in accordance with the European standard EN 12390-3. The addition of fibers significantly improved the bending strength of all composites made of metakaolin and sand. The reinforcement with aramid fiber in the amount of 2.0% resulted in more than a 3-fold increase in strength compared to the reinforcement-free composites. An analysis of the morphology of the fibers was carried out on the basis of photos taken from an electron microscope. The correct addition of fibers changes the nature of the fracture from brittle to more ductile and reduces the number of cracks in the material.  相似文献

Aligning steel fibers is an effective way to improve the mechanical properties of steel fiber cementitious composites (SFRC). In this study, the magnetic field method was used to prepare the aligned hooked-end steel fiber cementitious composites (ASFRC) and the fracture behavior was investigated. In order to achieve the alignment of steel fibers, the key parameters including the rheology of the mixture and magnetic induction of electromagnetic field were theoretically analyzed. The results showed that, compared with SFRC, the cracking load and the ultimate load of ASFRC were increased about 24–55% and 51–86%, respectively, depending on the fiber addition content. In addition, the flexural tensile strength and residual flexural strength of ASFRC were found to increase up to 105% and 100%, respectively. The orientation of steel fibers also has a significant effect on energy consumption. The fracture energy of ASFRC was 56–70% greater than SFRC and the reinforcement effect of hooked-end steel fiber was higher than straight steel fiber. The fibers in the fracture surface showed that not only was the number of fibers of ASFRC higher than that of SFRC, but also the orientation efficiency factor of ASFRC was superior to SFRC, which explains the improvement of fracture behavior of ASFRC.  相似文献

This paper analyzes the efficiency of shrinkage reducing additives for the shrinkage deformations of ordinary Portland cement (OPC) concrete and its mechanical properties. OPC concrete was modified with an organic compound-based shrinkage reducing additive (SRA), quicklime, polypropylene fiber, and hemp fiber. It was found that a combination of 2.5% quicklime and 1.5% SRA led to the highest reduction in shrinkage deformations in concrete, and the values of shrinkage reached up to 40.0%. On the contrary, compositions with 1.5% SRA were found to have a significant reduction in compressive strength after 100 freeze-thaw cycles. Hemp fiber did not show a significant shrinkage reduction, but it is an environmentally friendly additive, which can improve OPC concrete flexural strength. Polypropylene fiber can be used in conjunction with shrinkage reducing additives to improve other mechanical properties of concrete. It was observed that 3.0 kg/m3 of polypropylene fiber in concrete could increase flexural strength by 11.7%. Moreover, before degradation, concrete with polypropylene fiber shows high fracture energy and decent residual strength of 1.9 MPa when a 3.5 mm crack appears. The tests showed a compressive strength decrease in all compositions with shrinkage reducing additives and its combinations after 28 days of hardening.  相似文献

Fibers used as reinforcement can increase the mechanical characteristics of engineering cementitious composites (ECC), but their frost resistance has received less attention. The mechanical properties of various fiber cementitious materials under the dual factors of freeze-thaw action and fiber dose are yet to be determined. This study examines the performance change patterns of cementitious composites, which contain carbon fiber, glass fiber, and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fiber at 0%, 0.5%, and 1% volume admixture in freeze-thaw tests. Three fiber cement-based materials are selected to do the compression and bending testing, and ABAQUS finite element modeling is used to assess the performance of fiber cement-based composite materials. The microscopic observation results show that the dispersion of glass and PVA fibers is higher than that of carbon fibers. As a result, the mechanical characteristics of the fiber-doped cementitious composites increase dramatically after freeze-thaw with increasing dosage. The compression test results show the frost resistance of carbon fiber > PVA fiber > glass fiber. In addition, the bending test results show the frost resistance of carbon fiber > glass fiber > PVA fiber. The 3D surface plots of the strength changes are established to observe the mechanical property changes under the coupling effect of admixture and freeze-thaw times. ABAQUS modeling is used to predict the strength of the cementitious composites under various admixtures and freeze-thaw cycles. The bending strength numerical equation is presented, and the bending and compressive strengths of three different fiber-cement matrix materials are accurately predicted.  相似文献

A comparison of the effect of steel and polypropylene fibers on the strength, frost resistance, abrasion, and corrosion resistance in an acidic environment of fiber-reinforced concrete for industrial floors and road pavements was carried out. Steel fibers with a length of 50 mm and a diameter of 1 mm and polypropylene fibers with a length of 36 mm and a diameter of 0.68 mm were used. The amount of steel fiber varied from 15 to 25 kg/m3, and the amount of polypropylene fiber varied from 2 to 3 kg/m3. It has been established that steel fiber more significantly increases the concrete compressive strength, and both types of dispersed reinforcement increase the flexural strength equally by 27–34%. Also, dispersed reinforcement reduces the concrete abrasion resistance by 15–35% and increases its frost resistance by 50 cycles, which helps to improve the durability of industrial floors and road pavements. The use of steel fiber in an amount of 20 kg/m3 and polypropylene fiber in an amount of 2.5 kg/m3 also increases the concrete corrosion resistance in an acidic environment. In general, dispersed reinforcement with both fiber types has approximately the same technological effect concerning the mentioned applications. However, the use of polypropylene fibers is economically more profitable since an increase in the cost of 1 m3 of concrete with steel fiber reinforcement is from $22.5 to $37.5, and an increase in cost with polypropylene fiber is from $10 to $15.  相似文献

The research reported in this paper aims to evaluate the epoxy injection technique used to strengthen fiber-reinforced self-compacting concrete (FRSCC) with high strength. This method is carried out on ruptured concrete specimens to assess the efficiency of the epoxy resin adhesive injection retrofitting technique for strength and stiffness. Five FRSCC mixes were designed and placed using different types (steel and polypropylene) and contents (0%, 0.25%, and 0.45% by volume) of fibers. The fresh and mechanical properties in addition to the microstructure of produced mixes were evaluated to assess the impact of fibers on the behavior of FRSCC. Results showed that the workability of FRSCC is reduced by increasing steel or polypropylene fiber content; however, the rheological characteristics of placed mixes satisfied the European Guidelines for Self-Compacting Concrete recommendation for fresh concrete. Also, splitting tensile, flexural, and shear strengths were enhanced by increasing fiber content. The simultaneous application of epoxy injection in FRSCC for repairing damaged concrete beams was shown to be highly effective.  相似文献

The purpose of this research is to study the effects of quarry rock dust (QRD) and steel fibers (SF) inclusion on the fresh, mechanical, and microstructural properties of fly ash (FA) and ground granulated blast furnace slag (SG)-based geopolymer concrete (GPC) exposed to elevated temperatures. Such types of ternary mixes were prepared by blending waste materials from different industries, including QRD, SG, and FA, with alkaline activator solutions. The multiphysical models show that the inclusion of steel fibers and binders can enhance the mechanical properties of GPC. In this study, a total of 18 different mix proportions were designed with different proportions of QRD (0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%) and steel fibers (0.75% and 1.5%). The slag was replaced by different proportions of QRD in fly ash, and SG-based GPC mixes to study the effect of QRD incorporation. The mechanical properties of specimens, i.e., compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, and flexural strength, were determined by testing cubes, cylinders, and prisms, respectively, at different ages (7, 28, and 56 days). The specimens were also heated up to 800 °C to evaluate the resistance of specimens to elevated temperature in terms of residual compressive strength and weight loss. The test results showed that the mechanical strength of GPC mixes (without steel fibers) increased by 6–11%, with an increase in QRD content up to 15% at the age of 28 days. In contrast, more than 15% of QRD contents resulted in decreasing the mechanical strength properties. Incorporating steel fibers in a fraction of 0.75% by volume increased the compressive, tensile, and flexural strength of GPC mixes by 15%, 23%, and 34%, respectively. However, further addition of steel fibers at 1.5% by volume lowered the mechanical strength properties. The optimal mixture of QRD incorporated FA-SG-based GPC (QFS-GPC) was observed with 15% QRD and 0.75% steel fibers contents considering the performance in workability and mechanical properties. The results also showed that under elevated temperatures up to 800 °C, the weight loss of QFS-GPC specimens persistently increased with a consistent decrease in the residual compressive strength for increasing QRD content and temperature. Furthermore, the microstructure characterization of QRD blended GPC mixes were also carried out by performing scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS).  相似文献
