Nurses returning to work after obtaining their baccalaureate degree in nursing find increased expectations to participate in student and staff clinical education. Often these nurses are not prepared for this role. This paper describes a project that involved final year post-diploma registered nurse students in the clinical teaching of second year basic degree students in a baccalaureate nursing programme. Results of a pilot study to determine if the perceptions of the students involved in the teaching project changed following the experience, show a more positive change in teacher behaviours in these student tutors compared to students doing a traditional clinical experience. Course evaluations indicate the experience increased knowledge and comfort in clinical teaching and point to positive changes in the perceptions of behaviours conducive to clinical teaching.  相似文献

目的: 评价临床技能标准视频(以下简称“视频”)对提高我校医学生临床技能操作能力的作用,探讨临床教师在临床技能教学中的指导作用,寻找更有效的临床技能教学方法。方法: 将选修临床基本操作课程的60名大学三年级医学生随机分为有教师指导的视频教学组和传统教学组;另选择自愿到实训中心自学训练的40名各年级医学生,均采用无教师指导的自学视频方式,并根据其年级分为自学视频组高年级组和低年级组。比较有教师指导的标准视频教学和传统教学的差异,以及远期教学效果,比较有教师指导的视频教学组和自学视频组考核成绩,了解教师的指导作用。对相应的学生和教师进行问卷调查,了解学教双方对标准视频教学的满意度等。结果: 视频教学组学生的考核成绩明显高于传统教学组(P<0.05),平均分值相差8.4分;8周后再次考核,视频教学组和传统教学组学生的考核成绩均较8周前明显降低,但传统教学组成绩下降的分值较视频教学组下降的更多(P<0.05)。自学视频组学生中,低年级组的考核成绩明显低于高年级组(P<0.05),与高年级组间的平均分值相差8.8分。有教师辅导的视频教学组学生的考核成绩均明显高于自学视频低年级组及自学视频高年级组(P均<0.05),组间平均分值分别相差18.9分和10.1分。调查问卷结果显示,100%学生对课程兴趣浓厚,95.02%的学生认为视频教学对学习有帮助。10名教师均认为通过统一标准的视频教学,可减少评价的误差性和差异性。结论: 视频教学组的教学效果优于传统教学组。低年级医学生通过视频自学临床技能操作的效果低于高年级组医学生,且低年级医学生初始学习的过程中更需要教师指导。  相似文献

Transformations in the delivery of health care from hospital to community have brought about many changes in nursing practice. These, in turn, have necessitated alterations in the education of nursing students, the curricula, and clinical experiences. Confident that nursing is an independent practice, exclusive of the health care setting, our faculty decided to direct our teaching efforts to reflect changes in health care delivery. We restructured our baccalaureate nursing program's senior level clinical education experience to prepare students to meet the needs of the clients we serve--the community--and the demands of professional nursing education. In doing so, we have supported Ryan's definition of community, which includes "all settings where consumers seek health care" (1, p. 140). In response to the recommendation by the pew health professions commission for new models of content integration "between education and the highly managed and integrated systems of care" (2, p. 51), a decision was made to merge three senior level clinical courses--pediatrics, public health, and nursing leadership and management--into one integrated experience. This process required an examination of collective values and beliefs with respect to course content and learning experiences. The challenge was to examine "sacred cows" and eliminate redundancies and replication of learning activities.  相似文献

This paper explores some aspects of what is meant by integration in a nursing curriculum, by looking at both integration of course content and subject matter, and a consequent move away from separated academic disciplines towards a thematic approach, and at integration of the student group, so that different groups of nurse learners study and learn together for a certain proportion of the programme. We consider reasons for adopting an integrated approach by discussion: issues related to learners and the learning context (these include theories of how adults learn and our perspective on the part to be played by experiential learning); the potential implications for client/patient care and the need for transferable skills to work as a member of a team; and staff development for the teachers, including moves away from possible isolation towards team-teaching. We then go on to describe a model for curriculum development devised in our own institution and based on these principles, which incorporates the development of learners professionally, educationally and personally. This paper discusses the topic from a mainly theoretical perspective, and many of the issues will be relevant to a wide range of courses.  相似文献

Public policy in Canada is sensitive to changes that have occurred in society as a consequence of immigration, globalization and a new understanding of aboriginal and ethnic cultures. The traditional medical school undergraduate curriculum does not accommodate these changes. The current emphasis on evidenced-based medicine may reinforce the traditional approach because there is a dearth of global healthcare research. This review of medical schools in Canada suggests that modifications of curricula are being attempted to meet the need for knowledge of global health. Integration of global health principles and information into the current curriculum promotes a better understanding of Canada's healthcare delivery system itself as well as its role globally.  相似文献

Continuing education programs are used to enhance nurses' emergency decision-making knowledge and skills. Often, these programs are viewed as necessary but boring. An Emergency Pursuit game was developed to provide a novel, challenging, motivating, and cost-effective teaching/learning method. The game is played by teams of nurses who compete for points by answering questions concerning emergency drugs, cardiac arrhythmias, emergency policies and procedures, and non-arrest medical emergencies. Many benefits are realized from a continuing educational program using the Emergency Pursuit game. Of greatest importance is the improved proficiency and performance by nurses during clinical emergency situations.  相似文献
