The reviewer's job is fundamental to the editorial process in a scientific journal. The quality of the review will determine the quality of the journal. Therefore, it is very important for the reviewers to make this mission their own and to contribute to the development of science and of the journal. On the other hand, the focus of a review will depend largely on the type of journal for which one is reviewing. In this article, we explain what the journal Radiología, the scientific journal of the Spanish Society of Medical Radiology, expects of its reviewers and their reviews of original articles. We aim to establish some basic rules to lay the groundwork for the development of more detailed guidelines for reviewing articles for the journal Radiología.  相似文献

Radiología is the official journal of the Spanish Society of Diagnostic Imaging. It aims to contribute to the education of Spanish-speaking radiologists and to disseminate radiological research and knowledge in Spanish. The journal has an Editorial Board organized into areas or sections, and material published in the journal is chosen and improved through peer review. This article discusses the model of the scientific journal Radiología and the characteristics of its Editorial Board, comparing Radiología with official general radiology journals of other scientific societies. Moreover, the details of the journal's editorial process are revealed, including the editorial circuit, the reviewers' work, and the technical aspects of the final edition process. Finally, the article lists qualitative and quantitative data about the material that Radiología receives and publishes.  相似文献

The interpretation of medical imaging tests is one of the main tasks that radiologists do. For years, it has been a challenge to teach computers to do this kind of cognitive task; the main objective of the field of computer vision is to overcome this challenge. Thanks to technological advances, we are now closer than ever to achieving this goal, and radiologists need to become involved in this effort to guarantee that the patient remains at the center of medical practice. This article clearly explains the most important theoretical concepts in this area and the main problems or challenges at the present time; moreover, it provides practical information about the development of an artificial intelligence project in a radiology department.  相似文献

To determine the rate at which abstracts orally presented at the ECR 2000 were published between 2000–2004, and to identify predictive factors of publication and differences between abstracts and subsequently published papers. Specific search profiles were devised to retrieve items from the Medline database. From 1020 abstracts originating from 39 countries, 479 articles (publication rate 47%) were subsequently published in 139 Medline-indexed journals, most frequently in European Radiology (14%). Country of origin statistically (P<0.0001) influences the subsequent publication of the abstract, Germany having the highest number of presentations (n=343) and derived articles (publication rate 54%). Abstracts presented by authors from the USA (n=21) had the highest publication rate (76%). Most papers were published within the first 3 years after the meeting, as original articles and in English-language journals. Both the study sample size and the first author frequently changed. Chest and cardiac studies had the highest publication rates (56%, both). In summary, abstracts presented at the ECR 2000 had a high publication rate in Medline-indexed journals. Country of origin and subspecialty of presentation appeared to influence subsequent full publication. More articles were published in European Radiology than in other journal.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to investigate the rate at which abstracts orally presented at the ESGAR 2000 and 2001 meetings were published between 2000-2004, and to identify predictive factors of publication. The abstracts of ESGAR meeting presentations were reviewed and classified according to organ, modality, type of design, country of origin of the studies and basic categories of diagnostic or interventional. The presentations were searched for publication in Medline-indexed journals using the PubMed server. The publication rates of the presentations, the time period between the presentation and publication, and the journal in which the article had appeared were investigated. An overall number of 109 publications were found originating from 276 presentations (39.5%). The median and inter-quartile range [IQR] between the abstract presentation and subsequently full publication was 18 months [1.0 -53.0]. The journal with the highest number of derived articles from abstract presentation was European Radiology (n=21, 19.2%). Retrospective studies were found to be more frequently published than prospective studies (p=0.001). The publication rate did not show any statistically significant difference between groups of other classifications. The publication rate of studies orally presented at ESGAR meetings was 39.5%. No specific variable other than the type of design of the studies appeared to influence the publication rate.  相似文献

IntroductionAmidst COVID-19 crisis, confusion exists over current radiology operations due to influx of new data and new protocols. In order to decrease confusion and reduce imaging facility related COVID-19 transmissions, we created a dedicated radiology COVID-19 call center and dedicated out-patient COVID-19 imaging sites (referred to “HOT” sites).Materials and MethodsWe created a central radiology call center hotline, staffed by our radiology technologists, to answer all radiology questions related to COVID-19 and help with scheduling exams. All out-patient x-ray exams became mandatory to schedule through the call center so proper COVID-19 screening could occur. If positive for COVID-19 symptoms, they are sent to “HOT” sites. Various statistical analyses were performed.ResultsA total of 2548 calls were received over 7 weeks with linear increase in calls during this period (R 2 = 0.17, P = 0.003). Most common reasons for calling were related to scheduling (n = 2336, 92%) and radiology operations (n = 145, 6%). At our main “HOT” site, from a total of 371 separate patient encounters by date of study, 72 patient encounters (19%) were COVID-19 positive at time of exam.DiscussionThis project provides efficient and reassuring radiology operations during an emergency situation by providing a single reliable point of contact and a source of truth for all facets of radiology. In doing so, we facilitate high quality patient centered care while protecting the health of our patients and staff.  相似文献

Purpose

The radiologist plays a critical role at all steps of the management of patients with fibrous dysplasia (FD) and McCune–Albright syndrome (MAS). The development of a standardized approach to the management of FD/MAS is crucial given the low incidence and multiple clinical presentations of these conditions. Our aim was to develop recommendations for bone imaging in FD/MAS management.

Materials and methods

The establishment of National Reference Centers in France as part of a Health Ministry program for orphan diseases has triggered the development of recommendations for the clinical management of FD/MAS. We used a well-established robust methodological approach involving an extensive literature review by a multidisciplinary working group (20 healthcare professionals) and scoring by a peer-review group (20 healthcare professionals different from the 20 previous ones). There were four phases: a systematic literature review, drafting of initial recommendations, peer-review of this initial draft, and drafting of the final recommendations.

Results

Fifty-seven specific recommendations are provided as key points for the diagnosis, prognosis, and follow-up of patients with FD/MAS. Issues of special interest are highlighted in the discussion, and areas in which future research is needed are identified.

Conclusion

We believe the dissemination of these recommendations within the radiology community may facilitate communication between radiologists and other healthcare providers, thereby substantially improving the management of patients with these rare but potentially disabling conditions.  相似文献

The prohibition of ‘spearing’ in football and the rules regarding water depth and the racing dive in swimming are examples of how data on deaths and catastrophic injuries can be used to help promote the safety of young athletes. Other preventive measures supported by research include anchoring movable soccer goals to prevent tipping, improved training for high school wrestling coaches, increased awareness of pathogenic weight control in wrestling and gymnastics, rules against pushing or checking from behind in ice hockey, protective helmets for batting-practice pitchers in baseball, and barriers around the discus circle in track and field.  相似文献

The rapidity of change and increasing complexity of the academic medical center environment require a talented and engaged workforce with competencies in adaptability, capacity for working in empowered and diverse interprofessional teams, and self-efficacy. Radiology—a crosscutting field that interfaces with most other biomedical disciplines and that is often at the forefront of technological disruption—is a potentially ideal venue to focus professional and leadership development to create positive organizational value. In this report, we detail the design of and 9-year experience with a departmental leadership academy at a large academic center intended to foster team-based skills in early to midcareer faculty and staff. Over the past decade, 100 participants have completed the program with 80% retention, substantial professional growth, and increased capacity for mentoring others. This in-house, customized leadership development program is aligned with our strategic and cultural imperative to promote nimble, engaged, and empowered teams in a diverse and inclusive setting.  相似文献
