ObjectiveTo estimate the cumulative incidence of self-reported influenza vaccination (“vaccination coverage”) and investigate predictors in HIV-infected women.MethodsIn an ongoing cohort study of HIV-infected women in five US cities, data from two influenza seasons (2006–2007 n = 1209 and 2007–2008 n = 1161) were used to estimate crude and adjusted prevalence ratios (aPR) and 95% confidence intervals ([,]) from Poisson regression with robust variance models using generalized estimating equations (GEE).ResultsIn our study, 55% and 57% of HIV-infected women reported vaccination during the 2006–2007 and 2007–2008 seasons, respectively. Using data from both seasons, older age, non-smoking status, CD4 T-lymphocyte (CD4) count ≥ 200 cells/mm3, and reporting at least one recent healthcare visit was associated with increased vaccination coverage. In the 2007–2008 season, a belief in the protection of the vaccine (aPR = 1.38 [1.18, 1.61]) and influenza vaccination in the previous season (aPR = 1.66 [1.44, 1.91]) most strongly predicted vaccination status.ConclusionInterventions to reach unvaccinated HIV-infected women should focus on changing beliefs about the effectiveness of influenza vaccination and target younger women, current smokers, those without recent healthcare visits, or a CD4 count < 200 cells/mm3.  相似文献

BackgroundChemotherapy increases the risk of infections, often severe, and some of them are vaccine-preventable infections. We aimed to assess vaccination coverage and associated factors in oncology and hematology patients.MethodsConsecutive adult patients followed in a French university hospital for hematological malignancy or solid cancer voluntarily completed an anonymous questionnaire in September and October 2016. It included questions on underlying disease, chemotherapy, flu, and pneumococcal vaccination uptakes, and attitudes toward vaccination. Factors associated with vaccination uptake were assessed by multivariate logistic regression.ResultsThe response rate was 41.9% (N = 671) among 1,600 questionnaires distributed; 232 patients had underlying hematological malignancy and 439 had solid cancer. Half of the patients were aged over 65 years. Chemotherapy was ongoing or discontinued for less than one year in 74.7% of patients. In patients aged < 65 years undergoing chemotherapy, flu vaccination rate was 19.9% whereas patients aged > 65 years had coverage of 47%. Pneumococcal vaccine uptake was 7.3%. However, 64.7% of patients were favorable to vaccination. Vaccine uptake was associated with age > 65 years (OR 4.5 [2.9–7.0]), information about vaccination delivered by the family physician (OR 12.9 [5.5–30.1]), follow-up in hematology unit (OR 2.0 [1.3–3.1]), and positive opinion about vaccination (OR 2.0 [1.3–3.1]).ConclusionDespite specific recommendations regarding immunocompromised patients, anti-pneumococcal and flu vaccinations were rarely conducted, even in elderly patients. Targeted information campaigns to family physicians, oncologists, and patients should be implemented to improve vaccine coverage in patients with underlying malignancies.  相似文献

BackgroundSince 2010, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) has recommended that all persons aged ≥6 months receive annual influenza vaccination.MethodsWe analyzed data from the 2015 National Internet Flu Survey (NIFS), to assess knowledge and awareness of the influenza vaccination recommendation and early influenza vaccination coverage during the 2015–16 season among adults. Predictive marginals from a multivariable logistic regression model were used to identify factors independently associated with adults’ knowledge and awareness of the vaccination recommendation and early vaccine uptake during the 2015–16 influenza season.ResultsAmong the 3301 respondents aged ≥18 years, 19.6% indicated knowing that influenza vaccination is recommended for all persons aged ≥6 months. Of respondents, 62.3% indicated awareness that there was a recommendation for influenza vaccination, but did not indicate correct knowledge of the recommended age group. Overall, 39.9% of adults aged ≥18 years reported having an influenza vaccination. Age 65 years and older, being female, having a college or higher education, not being in work force, having annual household income ≥$75,000, reporting having received an influenza vaccination early in the 2015–16 season, having children aged ≤17 years in the household, and having high-risk conditions were independently associated with a higher correct knowledge of the influenza vaccination recommendation.ConclusionsApproximately 1 in 5 had correct knowledge of the recommendation that all persons aged ≥6 months should receive an influenza vaccination annually, with some socio-economic groups being even less aware. Clinic based education in combination with strategies known to increase uptake of recommended vaccines, such as patient reminder/recall systems and other healthcare system-based interventions are needed to improve vaccination, which could also improve awareness.  相似文献

IntroductionSubmarine crews live in a confined setting and are vulnerable to influenza. Thus, it would be useful to identify factors that are associated with influenza vaccination. In this study, we investigated the influenza vaccination rate and the influence of health beliefs on the vaccination rate among submariners who were eligible for a free but non-mandatory vaccination program.MethodsA total of 487 Korean submariners participated in this study after the closing of a free influenza vaccination program in 2015. Data regarding the participants’ general characteristics and health beliefs (based on the health belief model [HBM]) were collected using a self-administered questionnaire, and their vaccination status was determined using their medical records. Multiple logistic regression analysis were performed to evaluate the associations of the HBM components with influenza vaccination.ResultsThe overall vaccination rate was 78% (921/1183). The unvaccinated and vaccinated respondents exhibited similar characteristics, although the vaccinated group was significantly more likely to have high-risk family members (chronic disease, age of <2 years, or age of ⩾65 years; p = 0.025). Among the HBM components, perceived severity (odds ratio: 1.38, p = 0.019) and cue to action (odds ratio: 1.74, p = 0.002) were significantly associated with a higher likelihood of influenza vaccination.ConclusionVaccination policies that emphasize the severity of influenza and prompt individuals to undergo vaccination are needed to increase the vaccination rate among people who live in confined environments or institutions with non-mandatory vaccination programs.  相似文献

PurposeSeasonal influenza vaccination is recommended in children aged 6–59 months, but little is known about child vaccination coverage and determinants in Asian settings. We report the results of a survey of knowledge, attitudes, practices, and determinants of child influenza vaccination in Singapore.MethodsIn December 2015-March 2016, we conducted a survey of 332 parents of children aged 6 months to 5 years attending pre-schools. We assessed child influenza vaccine coverage and parental knowledge, attitudes, and practices of child influenza vaccination. We used multivariable regression and structural equation models to identify factors associated with child influenza vaccination.ResultsKnowledge about influenza, perceived benefit of vaccination, and willingness to vaccinate were high. However, only 32% of children had ever received influenza vaccine, and only 15% in the past year. Factors independently associated with child influenza vaccination included: being recommended influenza vaccine by a child’s doctor (prevalence ratio (PR) = 2.47, 95% CI: 1.75–3.48); receiving influenza vaccine information from a private general practitioner (PR = 1.47, 95% CI: 1.05–2.04); regularly receiving pre-travel influenza vaccine (PR = 1.64, 95% CI: 1.19–2.25); higher willingness to vaccinate (PR = 1.58, 95% CI:1.24–2.04 per unit increase in willingness score); and feeling well-informed about influenza vaccine (PR = 1.44, 95% CI: 1.04–1.99). Parents who obtained influenza vaccine information from television were less likely to have vaccinated their child (PR = 0.44, 95% CI: 0.23–0.85). Path analysis indicated that being recommended vaccination by a child's doctor increased willingness to vaccinate and self-efficacy (feeling well-informed about influenza vaccine). Median willingness-to-pay for a dose of influenza vaccine was SGD30 (interquartile range: SGD20-SGD50), and was higher in parents of vaccinated compared with unvaccinated children (SGD45 vs SGD30, p = 0.0012).ConclusionKnowledge and willingness to vaccinate was high in this parent population, but influenza vaccine uptake in children was low. Encouraging medical professionals to recommend vaccination of eligible children is key to improving uptake.  相似文献

BackgroundWe sought to: (1) explore the feasibility of using email for seasonal influenza vaccination reminders to parents of adolescents and (2) assess influenza vaccination rates among adolescents whose parents were randomized to either receive or not receive email reminders.MethodsEmail addresses were obtained for parents of patients 10–18 years from 4 practices in Michigan. Addresses were randomized to either receive email reminders, or not. Reminder messages were sent during October 2012-March 2013 (Season 1) and October 2013-March 2014 (Season 2). Vaccination status was determined 60 days following the last email reminder for each season using the statewide Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR); per protocol bivariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were conducted to evaluate reminder notification.ResultsAfter email cleaning, testing, and matching with MCIR, approximately half of email addresses (2348 of 5312 in Season 1; 3457 of 6549 in Season 2) were randomized. Bivariate analyses found that influenza vaccination within 60 days after notification date was similar among those notified (34%) versus not notified (29%) in both Season 1 (p = 0.06) and Season 2 (39% vs. 37%, p = 0.20). However, multivariate models adjusted for season, site, and receipt of notification in two seasons found a higher likelihood of influenza vaccination among children that received notification (aOR = 1.28, 95% CI = 1.09, 1.51); in addition, differences in influenza vaccination were also observed between practice sites (range: p = 0.15 to p < 0.001).ConclusionsWe found that practice-based email influenza vaccine reminders to parents of adolescents are feasible, but not without complications. Our study demonstrates that email reminders from practices can yield increases in influenza vaccination rates among adolescents. Practices should consider email as an option for influenza reminders and establish business practices for collecting and maintaining patient email addresses.This study is registered at www.ClinicalTrials.gov id #NCT01732315.  相似文献

ObjectivesOlder adults are less able to produce a protective antibody response to vaccinations. One factor that contributes to this is immune ageing. Here we examined whether diurnal variations in immune responses might extend to the antibody response to vaccination.DesignWe utilised a cluster-randomised trial design.Setting24 General Practices (GPs) across the West Midlands, UK who were assigned to morning (9–11 am; 15 surgeries) or afternoon (3–5 pm; 9 surgeries) vaccination times for the annual UK influenza vaccination programme.Participants276 adults (aged 65+ years and without a current infection or immune disorder or taking immunosuppressant medication).InterventionsParticipants were vaccinated in the morning or afternoon between 2011 and 2013.Main outcome measuresThe primary outcome was the change in antibody titres to the three vaccine influenza strains from pre-vaccination to one month post-vaccination. Secondary outcomes of serum cytokines and steroid hormone concentrations were analysed at baseline to identify relationships with antibody responses.ResultsThe increase in antibody levels due to vaccination differed between morning and afternoon administration; mean difference (95% CI) for H1N1 A-strain, 293.3 (30.97–555.66) p = .03, B-strain, 15.89 (3.42–28.36) p = .01, but not H3N2 A-strain, 47.0 (−52.43 to 146.46) p = .35; those vaccinated in the morning had a greater antibody response. Cytokines and steroid hormones were not related to antibody responses. No adverse events were reported.ConclusionsThis simple manipulation in the timing of vaccine administration to favour morning vaccination may be beneficial for the influenza antibody response in older adults, with potential implications for vaccination strategies generally.Trial registrationThis trial is registered with the ISRCTN (ISRCTN70898162).  相似文献

BackgroundSeasonal influenza vaccine uptake in China is low. This study aims to assess the role of community healthcare workers (HCWs) in increasing vaccination among high risk groups in China.MethodsWe analyzed data from four knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) studies on seasonal influenza vaccination in China targeting guardians of young children, pregnant women, adults aged ≥60 years, and HCWs from 2012 to 2014.ResultsThirty-one percent of pregnant women and 78% adults aged ≥60 years reported willingness to follow HCWs’ recommendations for influenza vaccination. Guardians were more likely to vaccinate their children if they received HCWs’ recommendations (35% vs. 17%, p < 0.001). Community HCWs were more likely to recommend seasonal influenza vaccination than hospital HCWs (58% vs. 28%, p < 0.001).ConclusionStudy results suggest the value of incorporating community HCWs’ recommendation for seasonal influenza vaccination into existing primary public health programs to increase vaccination coverage among high risk groups in China.  相似文献

IntroductionInfluenza vaccination of children with underlying chronic diseases is currently recommended in Germany, but targeting all children constitutes an alternative approach to control seasonal influenza. To inform the modelling of vaccination impact and possible communication activities, we aimed to assess among parents the acceptance of universal childhood vaccination against seasonal influenza and possible modifiers.MethodsWe conducted a telephone survey in households in Germany using random digit dialing. We interviewed parents with children aged <18 years by constructing three hypothetical scenarios in subsequent order: (1) hearing about the influenza vaccination recommendation through the media, (2) the vaccine being recommended by a physician, and (3) being informed about the availability of the vaccine as a nasal spray. We calculated the proportion of parents who would immunize their child and used univariable and multivariable logistic regression to identify factors associated with influenza vaccination intention.ResultsResponse was between 22 and 46%. Of 518 participants, 74% were female, mean age was 41.3 years. Participants had on average 1.6 children with a mean age of 8.9 years. In scenario 1, 52% of parents would immunize their child, compared to 64% in scenario 2 (p < 0.01) and to 45% in scenario 3 (p = 0.20). Factors independently associated with vaccination acceptance in scenario 1 were previous influenza vaccination of the child or parent (adjusted odds ratio [aOR] 4.5 and 8.6, respectively), perceived severity of influenza (aOR = 5.1) and living in eastern Germany (aOR = 2.4).ConclusionIf seasonal influenza vaccination was recommended for all children, more than half of the parents would potentially agree to immunize their child. Involving physicians in future information campaigns is essential to achieve high uptake. As intranasal vaccine administration is non-invasive and easily done, it remains unclear why scenario 3 was associated with low acceptance among parents, and the underlying reasons should be further explored.  相似文献

PurposeWe tested the hypotheses that consistency and strength of clinician recommendation of the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination would be associated with vaccine delivery rates.MethodsFrom October 2015 through January 2016, we conducted a survey of primary care clinicians (n = 227) in Southeastern Minnesota to evaluate clinician behaviors regarding HPV vaccination. The survey response rate was 41.0% (51 clinical sites). We used the Rochester Epidemiology Project, a clinical data linkage infrastructure, to ascertain clinical site-level HPV vaccination rates. We examined associations of clinician self-reports of both the consistency and strength of their recommendations for HPV vaccination for patients aged 11–12 years (n = 14,406) with site-level vaccination rates.ResultsThe majority of clinicians reported consistently (always or usually) recommending the HPV vaccine to females (79.0%) and to males (62.2%); 71.9% of clinicians reported strongly recommending the vaccine to females while 58.6% reported strongly recommending to males. Consistency and strength of recommending the HPV vaccine was significantly higher among those practicing in pediatrics and board certified in pediatrics compared to family medicine. Higher rates of initiation (1 dose) [Incidence Rate Ratio (IRR) = 1.05; 95% CI (1.01–1.09)] and completion (3 doses) [IRR = 1.08; 95% CI (1.02–1.13)] were observed among clinical sites where, on average, clinicians more frequently reported always or usually recommending the vaccine for females compared to sites where, on average, clinicians reported recommending the vaccine less frequently. Similarly, higher rates of initiation [IRR = 1.03; 95% CI (1.00–1.06)] and completion [IRR = 1.04; CI (1.00, 1.08)] were observed among sites where clinicians reported strongly recommending the vaccine to females more frequently compared to sites where, on average, clinicians reported strongly recommending the HPV vaccine less frequently; similar associations were observed for male initiation [IRR = 1.05; CI (1.02,1.08)] and completion [IRR = 1.05; 95% CI (1.01, 1.09)].ConclusionsConsistency and strength of HPV vaccination recommendation was associated with higher vaccination rates.  相似文献

IntroductionPregnancy is a risk factor for severe influenza. However, data on influenza incidence during pregnancy are scarce. Likewise, no data are available on influenza vaccine coverage in France since national recommendation in 2012. We aimed to assess these points using a novel nationwide web-based surveillance system, G-GrippeNet.MethodsDuring the 2014/2015 influenza season, pregnant women living in metropolitan France were enrolled through a web platform (https://www.grippenet.fr/). Throughout the season, participants were asked to report, on a weekly basis, if they had experienced symptoms of influenza-like-illness (ILI). ILI episodes reported were used to calculate incidence density rates based on period of participation from each participant. Vaccination coverage was estimated after weighing on age and education level from national data on pregnant women. Factors associated with higher vaccination coverage were obtained through a logistic regression with Odds Ratio (OR) corrected with the Zhang and Yu method.ResultsA total of 153 women were enrolled. ILI incidence density rate was 1.8 per 100 person-week (95%CI, 1.5–2.1). This rate was higher in women older than 40 years (RR = 3.0, 95%CI [1.1–8.3], p = 0.03) and during first/second trimesters compared to third trimester (RR = 4.0, 95%CI [1.4–12.0], p = 0.01). Crude vaccination coverage was 39% (95%CI, 31–47) and weighted vaccination coverage was estimated at 26% (95%CI, 20–34). Health care provider recommendation for vaccination (corrected OR = 7.8; 95%CI [3.0–17.1]) and non-smoking status (cOR = 2.1; 95%CI [1.2–6.9]) were associated with higher vaccine uptake.ConclusionThis original web based longitudinal surveillance study design proved feasible in pregnant women population. First results are of interest and underline that public health policies should emphasize the vaccination promotion through health care providers.  相似文献

A cross-sectional study was carried out among HCPs in Northwest General Hospital & Research Centre, Hayatabad Peshawar, Pakistan. The purpose of this study was to investigate knowledge, awareness and attitude of HCPs towards influenza vaccination. A total of N = 170 questionnaires were distributed among the staff. There was a 97% response rate to this survey (n = 165). The median age of the respondents was 30 years and most of them, 98 (59.0%), were from age group of 24–30 years. The majority of the HCPs that participated in this study were male 106 (64.2%), and by profession, the majority were physicians 77 (46.7%), followed by pharmacists and nurses. A majority 114 (69.1%) believed that it was not compulsory for HCPs to get vaccinated for influenza. Top three identified barriers to vaccination were: not everyone is familiar with the availability of the influenza vaccination at their institution (Relative importance weight factors (RIWF) = 0.71), due to needle fear I do not like to get vaccinated (RIWF = 0.70) and it is not compulsory for healthcare professionals to get vaccinated for influenza (RIWF = 0.64). The logistic regression analysis has revealed association for job experience and profession with the most of the eleven knowledge item. However, when overall sum of eleven items were tested to identify the factors affecting the knowledge score, along with profession (−0.215 [−0.389 to 0.040]; p = 0.016) and job experience (0.823 [0.521–1.125]; p < 0.001) HCPs age (−0.409 [−0.755 to −0.064]; p = 0.020) was found to be another significant factor affecting the total knowledge score of HCPs. Overall, scoring of the correct responses revealed that nurses have better knowledge and understanding about influenza and the influenza vaccination (6.5 ± 0.8, p < 0.001*), followed by pharmacists (6.3 ± 1.14) and physicians. In spite of the published guidelines and recommendations, a very low percentage of the healthcare professionals in our hospital were vaccinated against influenza, and the barriers to vaccination were prevalent. Various strategies, including arranging seminars regarding awareness about vaccinations, are required to improve the knowledge and overall outcomes.  相似文献

IntroductionIn Argentina respiratory disease is the third leading cause of death in children under 5 years. In 2011 influenza vaccination was included in the National Calendar for children between 6 and 24 months (two doses schedule). Influenza vaccine coverage for second dose was 46.1% in 2013. The aim was to determine the proportion of delayed schedules and missed opportunities, to assess the characteristics of missed opportunities for vaccination and to explore the perception of influenza disease and vaccination from the parents of children between 6 and 24 months in different regions of Argentina in 2013.MethodsAnalytical observational multicenter cross-sectional study. Structured surveys were carried out to the children's parents who were between 6 and 24 months of age during the influenza virus vaccination season (April–October 2013). Chi-Square test was used to assess association and differences between proportions and categorical variables. A logistic regression model was built to identify delay predictor variables in the vaccination schedules. Missed opportunities for vaccination were characterized through the estimation of proportions.Results1350 surveys were conducted in the three centers. We detected 65% (884/1340) of delayed influenza vaccination schedules, 97% of them associated with missed opportunities of vaccination. The independent protective factors associated with a decreases risk of delayed schedules were: (a) perception of the importance of influenza vaccination (OR = 0.42(0.18–0.94); p = 0.035), (b) having less than one year of age (OR = 0.75(0.59–0.96); p = 0.022), (c) to have received information in pediatric visits or in any media (OR = 0.71(0.56–0.90); p = 0.004). There was 38% of MOIV in 1st dose and 63.4% in 2nd dose. The main cause of MOIV in 1st dose was not detecting the need for vaccination (39%) and in 2nd dose the unknowledge of the vaccination schedule (35.3%). No cultural reasons were detected.ConclusionsHigh frequency of delayed vaccination schedules and missed opportunities were detected. Parents had little concern about the safety of influenza vaccine.  相似文献

BackgroundIn order to improve influenza vaccination coverage, the coverage rate and reasons for non-vaccination need to be determined. In 2007, the Beijing Government published a policy providing free influenza vaccinations to elderly people living in Beijing who are older than 60. This study examines the vaccination coverage after the policy was carried out and factors influencing vaccination among the elderly in Beijing.MethodsA cross-sectional survey was conducted through the use of questionnaires in 2013. A total of 1673 eligible participants were selected by multistage stratified random sampling in Beijing using anonymous questionnaires in-person. They were surveyed to determine vaccination status and social demographic information.ResultsThe influenza vaccination coverage was 38.7% among elderly people in Beijing in 2012. The most common reason for not being vaccinated was people thinking they did not need to have a flu shot. After controlling for age, gender, income, self-reported health status, and the acceptance of health promotion, the rate in rural areas was 2.566 (95% confidence interval [CI], 1.801–3.655, P < 0.010) times greater than that in urban areas. Different mechanisms of health education and health promotion have different influences on vaccination uptake. Those whom received information through television, community boards, or doctors were more likely to get vaccinated compared to those who did not (Odds Ratio [OR] = 1.403, P < 0.010; OR = 1.812, P < 0.010; OR = 2.647, P < 0.010).ConclusionThe influenza vaccine coverage in Beijing is much lower than that of developed countries with similar policies. The rural–urban disparity in coverage rate (64.1% versus 33.5%), may be explained by differing health provision systems and personal attitudes toward free services due to socioeconomic factors. Methods for increasing vaccination levels include increasing the focus on primary care and health education programs, particularly recommendations from doctors, to the distinct target populations, especially with a focus on expanding these efforts in urban areas.  相似文献

BackgroundProviding influenza vaccine to patients in the pediatric emergency department (PED) is one strategy to increase childhood influenza vaccine uptake. The Parent Attitudes about Childhood Vaccines (PACV) survey is a new tool to identify vaccine-hesitant parents that may facilitate influenza vaccine uptake in the PED.ObjectiveTo assess the feasibility of administering the PACV modified for influenza vaccination in the PED setting and to determine whether parental PACV scores are associated with patient receipt of influenza vaccine in the PED.MethodsWe conducted a cross-sectional study in the PED of a tertiary pediatric hospital in Seattle, WA during the 2013–2014 influenza season. English-speaking parents of children aged 6 months to 7 years who were afebrile, medically stable to be discharged home from the PED, and had not already received an influenza vaccine this season were administered a modified version of the PACV. PACV scores (0–100, higher score = higher hesitancy) were dichotomized (<50 and ≥50) consistent with previous validation studies. Feasibility was assessed by determining time to complete the PACV. Our primary outcome was influenza vaccine refusal in the PED. We used multivariable logistic regression to estimate unadjusted and adjusted odds ratios for association between vaccine refusal and dichotomized PACV scores.Results152 parent participants were included in the analysis. The median time for administering the PACV was 7 min. The median PACV score was 28, with 74% scoring <50. BackgroundTo evaluate knowledge about hepatitis B and vaccination coverage among students at Cocody's University, Ivory Coast.Materials and methodsA cross-sectional study was conducted during the academic year 2005–2006 (2557 students). Parameters were collected by interview using a survey chart. Factors influencing knowledge and vaccination against hepatitis B were analyzed by logistic regression.ResultsThe majority of students (n = 1174, 69.4% [95% CI 68–71]) knew about hepatitis B. Only 17.5% and 26.1% of students respectively were aware of sexual and blood transmission. None of the students were aware of maternal-fetal transmission. Factors associated with knowledge of hepatitis B were enrollment in health sciences (Odds Ratio = 24.19 [95% CI 8.65–76.63]) and having a scholarship (Odds Ratio = 2.34 [95% CI 1.54–3.56]). Vaccination coverage against hepatitis B was low (Odds Ratio = 3.7% [95% CI 3–4]). Factors associated with vaccination were: knowledge of hepatitis B (Odds Ratio = 6.83 [95% CI 4.57–10.27]), enrollment in health sciences (Odds Ratio = 3.59 [95% CI 2.60–4.96]), marriage (Odds Ratio = 2.04 [95% CI 1.13–3.64]) and having a scholarship (Odds Ratio = 1.60 [95% CI 1.09–2.35]).ConclusionKnowledge and vaccination coverage against hepatitis B among students at Cocody's University is low. Students should be given information about hepatitis B and access to free vaccination. Students enrolled in health sciences should be vaccinated before admission because of specific risks of contamination, for themselves and for their patients.  相似文献

BackgroundVaccination has been suggested to be involved in the aetiology of chronic fatigue syndrome/myalgic encephalomyelitis (CFS/ME). HPV vaccine was introduced in the Norwegian Childhood Immunisation Programme and offered 12 year old girls from 2009. We studied the association between HPV vaccination and risk of CFS/ME and also assessed medical history in relation to both risk of CFS/ME and HPV vaccine uptake.MethodsIndividual data from national registries, including the Norwegian Population Registry, the Norwegian Patient Registry and the Norwegian Immunisation Registry were linked using the unique personal identification number. Yearly incidence rates of CFS/ME for 2009–2014 were calculated among the 824,133 boys and girls, aged 10–17 living in Norway during these 6 years. A total of 176,453 girls born 1997–2002 were eligible for HPV vaccination and included in further analyses. Hazard ratios (HRs) of CFS/ME were estimated using Cox regression. Risk differences (RDs) of vaccine uptake were estimated with binomial regression.ResultsA similar yearly increase in incidence rate of CFS/ME was observed among girls and boys, IRR = 1.15 (95% confidence interval (CI) 1.10–1.19) and 1.15 (95% CI 1.09–1.22), respectively. HPV vaccination was not associated with CFS/ME, HR = 0.86 (95% CI 0.69–1.08) for the entire follow-up period and 0.96 (95% CI 0.64–1.43) for the first two years after vaccination. The risk of CFS/ME increased with increasing number of previous hospital contacts, HR = 5.23 (95% CI 3.66–7.49) for 7 or more contacts as compared to no contacts. Girls with 7 or more hospital contacts were less likely to be vaccinated than girls with no previous hospital contacts, RD = −5.5% (95% CI −6.7% to −4.2%).ConclusionsNo indication of increased risk of CFS/ME following HPV vaccination was observed among girls in the first 6 birth cohorts offered HPV vaccine through the national immunisation programme in Norway.  相似文献
