Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a highly heritable neurodevelopmental disorders characterized by impaired social interactions, communication deficits, and repetitive behavior. Although the mechanisms underlying its etiology and manifestations are poorly understood, several lines of evidence from rodent and human studies suggest involvement of the evolutionarily highly-conserved oxytocin (OXT) and arginine-vasopressin (AVP), as these neuropeptides modulate various aspects of mammalian social behavior. As far as we know, there is no comprehensive review of the roles of the OXT and AVP systems in the development of ASD from the genetic aspect. In this review, we summarize the current knowledge regarding associations between ASD and single-nucleotide variants of the human OXT-AVP pathway genes OXT, AVP, AVP receptor 1a (AVPR1a), OXT receptor (OXTR), the oxytocinase/vasopressinase (LNPEP), and ADP-ribosyl cyclase (CD38).  相似文献

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) symptoms are elevated in populations of children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). This study examined cross-sectional associations between ASD symptoms and family functioning in children with and without ADHD. Participants were recruited to a longitudinal cohort study, aged 6–10 years (164 ADHD; 198 controls). ADHD cases were ascertained using community-based screening and diagnostic confirmation from a diagnostic interview. ASD symptoms were measured using the Social Communication Questionnaire. Outcome variables were parent mental health, family quality of life (FQoL), couple conflict and support, and parenting behaviours. After adjustment for a range of child and family factors (including other mental health comorbidities), higher ASD symptoms were associated with poorer FQoL across all three domains; emotional impact (p = 0.008), family impact (p = 0.001) and time impact (p = 0.003). In adjusted analyses by subgroup, parents of children with ADHD+ASD had poorer parent self-efficacy (p = 0.01), poorer FQoL (p ≤ 0.05), with weak evidence of an association for less couple support (p = 0.06), compared to parents of children with ADHD only. Inspection of covariates in the adjusted analyses indicated that the association between ASD symptoms and most family functioning measures was accounted forby child internalising and externalising disorders, ADHD severity, and socioeconomic status; however, ASD symptoms appear to be independently associated with poorer FQoL in children with ADHD. The presence of ASD symptoms in children with ADHD may signal the need for enhanced family support.  相似文献

Early brain injury (EBI) contributes to poor prognosis of subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). This study aimed to clarify whether triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells-1 (TREM-1) was implicated in the inflammatory mechanisms of EBI. The cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) levels of soluble TREM-1 (sTREM-1), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) as well as plasma levels of white blood cells (WBC) count and C-reactive protein in 17 SAH patients at early stage (within the EBI period) and 9 volunteers were observed. Also World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (WFNS) scale of SAH patients was calculated on admission. Compared to controls, increased CSF levels of sTREM-1 (t = 5.66, P < 0.001), TNF-α (t = 5.41, P < 0.001) and IL-6 (t = 2.98, P = 0.007) as well as elevated plasma WBC counts (t = 7.61, P < 0.001) and C-reactive protein levels (t = 3.91, P = 0.001) were found in SAH patients. Considering the increased WBC counts in SAH group, covariate analysis was also performed when comparing patients’ sTREM-1 levels with respect to controls and no obvious difference was found (F = 0.982, P = 0.332). For SAH group, early CSF concentrations of sTREM-1 were correlated with those of both TNF-α (r = 0.582, P = 0.014) and IL-6 (r = 0.593, P = 0.012). Also the CSF sTREM-1 levels were positively correlated with WBC counts (r = 0.629, P = 0.007) and C-reactive protein levels (r = 0.804, P < 0.001) as well as WFNS scale (r = 0.835, P < 0.001). This study showed an early increased sTREM-1 CSF level in SAH patients, which correlated with inflammation intensity post-SAH and clinical severity, indicating that TREM-1 may participate in the inflammatory mechanisms of EBI.  相似文献

Observational studies indicate children whose mothers have poor mental health are at increased risk of socio-emotional behavioural difficulties, but it is unknown whether these outcomes vary by the mothers’ mental health recognition and treatment status. To examine this question, we analysed linked longitudinal primary care and research data from 1078 women enrolled in the Born in Bradford cohort. A latent class analysis of treatment status and self-reported distress broadly categorised women as (a) not having a common mental disorder (CMD) that persisted through pregnancy and the first 2 years after delivery (N = 756, 70.1 %), (b) treated for CMD (N = 67, 6.2 %), or (c) untreated (N = 255, 23.7 %). Compared to children of mothers without CMD, 3-year-old children with mothers classified as having untreated CMD had higher standardised factor scores on the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (d = 0.32), as did children with mothers classified as having treated CMD (d = 0.27). Results were only slightly attenuated in adjusted analyses. Children of mothers with CMD may be at risk for socio-emotional and behavioural difficulties. The development of effective treatments for CMD needs to be balanced by greater attempts to identify and treat women.  相似文献

Genetic variants have been implicated in the development of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Recent studies suggest that solute carriers (SLCs) may play a role in the etiology of ASD. This purpose of this study was to determine the association between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in SLC19A1 and SLC25A12 genes with childhood ASD in a Chinese Han population. A total of 201 autistic children and 200 age- and gender-matched healthy controls were recruited. A TaqMan probe-based real-time PCR approach was used to determine genotypes of SNPs corresponding to rs1023159 and rs1051266 in SLC19A1, and rs2056202 and rs2292813 in SLC25A12. Our results showed that both the T/T genotype of rs1051266 (odds ratio (OR) = 1.85, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.06–3.23, P = 0.0301) and the T allele (OR = 1.77, 95% CI = 1.07–2.90, P = 0.0249) of rs2292813 were significantly associated with an increased risk of childhood ASD. In addition, the G-C haplotype of rs1023159-rs1051266 in SCL19A1 (OR = 0.71, 95% CI = 0.51–0.98, P = 0.0389) and C-C haplotype of rs2056202-rs2292813 in SLC25A12 (OR = 0.58, 95% CI = 0.35–0.96, P = 0.0325) were associated with decreased risks of childhood ASD. There was no significant association between genotypes and allele frequencies with the severity of the disease. Our study suggests that these genetic variants of SLC19A1 and SLC25A12 may be associated with risks for childhood ASD.  相似文献

Children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) have motor timing difficulties. This study examined whether affected motor timing accuracy and variability are specific for ADHD, or that comorbidity with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) contributes to these motor timing difficulties. An 80-trial motor timing task measuring accuracy (μ), variability (σ) and infrequent long response times (τ) in estimating a 1-s interval was administered to 283 children and adolescents (8–17 years) from both a clinic and population based sample. They were divided into four latent classes based on the SCQ and CPRS-R:L data. These classes were: without behavioral problems ‘Normal-class’ (n = 154), with only ADHD symptoms ‘ADHD-class’ (n = 49), and two classes with both ASD and ADHD symptoms; ADHD(+ASD)-class (n = 39) and ASD(+ADHD)-class (n = 41). The pure ADHD-class did not deviate from the Normal class on any of the motor timing measures (mean RTs 916 and 925 ms, respectively). The comorbid ADHD(+ASD) and ASD(+ADHD) classes were significantly less accurate (more time underestimations) compared to the Normal class (mean RTs 847 and 870 ms, respectively). Variability in motor timing was reduced in the younger children in the ADHD(+ASD) class, which may reflect a tendency to rush the tedious task. Only patients with more severe behavioral symptoms show motor timing deficiencies. This cannot merely be explained by high ADHD severity with ASD playing no role, as ADHD symptom severity in the pure ADHD-class and the ASD(+ADHD) class was highly similar, with the former class showing no motor timing deficits.  相似文献

The outcome of early intravenous thrombolysis for ischemic stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) is worse than that without thrombosis. How to increase the efficacy of intravenous thrombolysis for AF-related ischemic stroke remains largely unknown. In this study, we investigated factors that influence the effect of intravenous thrombolysis in these patients. Our results showed that thrombolysis was independently associated with a favorable outcome (P < 0.001) and did not influence the mortality of AF-related ischemic stroke, although it increased the risk of hemorrhage within 24 h after treatment. Risk factors for a poor outcome at admission were: heart failure (P = 0.045); high systolic pressure (P = 0.039); high blood glucose (P = 0.030); and a high National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score (P < 0.001). Moreover, high systolic pressure at admission (P = 0.007), high blood glucose (P = 0.027), and a high NIHSS score (P < 0.001) were independent risk factors for mortality at 3 months. Besides thrombolysis, a high NIHSS score (P = 0.006) and warfarin taken within 48 h before stroke onset (P = 0.032) were also independent risk factors for symptomatic hemorrhage within 24 h after treatment. Ischemic stroke patients with AF benefited from intravenous thrombolysis with recombinant tissue plasminogen activator within 4.5 h after stroke.  相似文献

The involvement of apolipoproteins, such as the ApoE4 isoform, in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) highlights the fact that certain lipid carriers may participate in soluble β-amyloid (Aβ) transport. Our general aim was to characterize the soluble levels of the apolipoproteins apoE, apoA1 and apoJ/clusterin and their genotype status in patients with CAA. We analyzed the genotypes frequency of APOA1 (rs5069, rs670), CLU (rs11136000, rs1532278, rs7012010, rs9331888) and APOE (rs429358, rs7412) in a cohort of patients with CAA-associated intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) (n = 59) and compared the results with those from hypertension-associated ICH (n = 42), AD patients (n = 73) and controls (n = 88). In a subgroup of patients, we also determined the plasma concentrations of apoE, apoA1 and apoJ/clusterin. We found increased plasma apoJ/clusterin levels in CAA patients compared to AD patients or controls after adjusting for sex and age (CAA vs. controls, p = 0.033; CAA vs. AD, p = 0.013). ApoA1 levels were not altered between groups, although a strong correlation was observed between plasma Aβ(1-40) and apoA1 among CAA patients (r = 0.583, p = 0.007). Regarding plasma apoE concentration, a robust association between circulating levels and genotype status was confirmed (p < 0.001). Whereas the APOE4 frequency was higher in AD (p < 0.001) and CAA (p = 0.013), the APOA1 and CLU genotypes were not different among groups. In the CAA cohort, the risk-linked CLU variant (C) rs11136000 was associated with white matter hyperintensities (p = 0.045) and the presence of lobar microbleeds (p = 0.023) on MRI. In summary, our findings suggest that apoA1 may act as a physiological transporter of Aβ(1-40) and that apoJ/clusterin appears to be a chaperone related to distinctive lesions in CAA brains.  相似文献

Parenting children with conduct problems (CP) is challenging, yet very little is known about the impact of the child’s behaviour on family functioning or how parents of children with CP perceive their child. The aim of this research was to examine whether families with children with CP and high vs. low levels of callous–unemotional traits (HCU vs. LCU) experience differences in family functioning and parental perceptions. One hundred and one parents/caregivers of boys aged 11–16 [Typically developing (TD) n = 31; CP/HCU n = 35; CP/LCU n = 35] completed the McMaster Family Assessment Device, measuring multiple domains of family functioning. Parents/caregivers also completed a written statement describing their child, used for qualitative analysis. Families with CP/HCU children had poorer affective involvement than TD (p = 0.00; d = ? 1.17) and CP/LCU (p = 0.03; d = ? 0.62) families. Families with CP/HCU children showed significantly poorer general family functioning (p = 0.04; d = ? 0.63) and more poorly defined family roles (p = 0.005; d = ? 0.82) than families with TD children. Qualitative analyses indicated that parents/caregivers of CP/HCU children characterised them as having a dichotomous personality and being superficially charming. CP/LCU children were characterised as cheeky and endearing, with parents reporting good rapport. Families with CP/HCU children presented with specific difficulties in affective involvement and parents described challenges which were in line with the child’s specific presentation of lack of empathy and shallow affect. These findings may be used to help clinicians identify targets for family interventions.  相似文献

This study was carried out with collegiate students who took part in an exercise program for 1 year. An exercise addiction (EA) questionnaire was used to classify EA and non-EA (NEA) groups. Exercise dependence (ED), compulsive exercise (CE), and obligatory exercise (OE) questionnaires were used to validate the EA results. A total of 38 male and 37 female college students were selected as the subjects for this study to investigate the effects of EA on psychophysiological health. The psychophysiological health variables were composed of depression, stress, body composition, and muscular joint health. This study showed that EA was significantly associated with ED (r = 0.746; P = 0.001), CE (r = 0.644; P = 0.001), and OE (r = 0.731; P = 0.001), respectively. Although there were no significant differences between EA groups and NEA groups for both males and females on depression (Z = ? 0.813; P = 0.416 and Z = ? 0.148; P = 0.882, respectively), physical stress (Z = ? 0.777; P = 0.437 and Z = ?0.074; P = 0.941, respectively), and emotional stress (Z = ? 1.035; P = 0.300 and Z = ? 0.573; P = 0.567, respectively), the elbow and knee joint functions of EA males were significantly higher compared with those of NEA males. However, the variables of body composition in EA females were not significantly different from those of NEA females. Being addicted to exercise for 1 year resulted in negative effects on the psychological health in both genders, while it had a negative effect on physical health for women only.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to explore the differences between boys and girls in the diagnosis and clinical phenotypes of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in China's mainland. Children diagnosed with ASD (n = 1064, 228 females) were retrospectively included in the analysis. All children were assessed using the Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R) and Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS). The results showed that girls scored significantly higher in ADI-R socio-emotional reciprocity than boys, and also scored lower in ADI-R and ADOS restricted and repetitive behaviors (RRBs). Meanwhile, the proportions of girls who satisfied the diagnostic cut-off scores in the ADI-R RRBs domain were lower than in boys (P < 0.05). Our results indicated that girls with ASD show greater socio-emotional reciprocity than boys. Girls also tended to show fewer RRBs than boys, and the type of RRBs in girls differ from those in boys. The ADI-R was found to be less sensitive in girls, particularly for assessment in the RRBs domain.  相似文献

Are motor coordination deficits an underlying cardinal feature of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD)? Database searches identified 83 ASD studies focused on motor coordination, arm movements, gait, or postural stability deficits. Data extraction involved between-group comparisons for ASD and typically developing controls (N = 51). Rigorous meta-analysis techniques including random effects models, forest and funnel plots, I 2, publication bias, fail-safe analysis, and moderator variable analyses determined a significant standardized mean difference effect equal to 1.20 (SE = 0.144; p < 0.0001; Z = 10.49). This large effect indicated substantial motor coordination deficits in the ASD groups across a wide range of behaviors. The current overall findings portray motor coordination deficits as pervasive across diagnoses, thus, a cardinal feature of ASD.  相似文献

Studies have shown an increase in the incidence of MS in Iran. The aim of our study was to evaluate the relationship between environmental exposure and MS in Iran. This case-control study was conducted on 660 MS patients and 421 controls. Many environmental factors are compared between the two groups. Our findings demonstrated that prematurity ([OR = 4.99 (95% CI 1.34–18.68), P = 0.017]), history of measles and mumps ([OR = 1.60 (95% CI 1.05–2.45), P = 0.029; OR = 1.85 (95% CI 1.22–2.78), P = 0.003, respectively]), breast feeding [OR = 2.90 (95% CI 1.49–5.65), P = 0.002], head trauma in childhood ([OR = 8.21 (95% CI 1.56–43.06), P = 0.013]), vaccination in adulthood ([OR = 4.57 (95% CI 1.14–18.41), P = 0.032, respectively]), migraine ([OR = 3.50 (95% CI 1.61–7.59), P = 0.002]), family history of MS, IBD, migraine, and collagen vascular diseases ([OR = 2.73 (95% CI 1.56–4.78), P < 0.001], [OR = 3.14 (95% CI 1.460–6.78), P = 0.004; OR = 3.18 (95% CI 1.83–5.53), P < 0.001; OR = 1.81 (95% CI 1.03–3.20), P = 0.040, respectively]), stressful events ([OR = 32.57 (95% CI 17.21–61.64), P < 0.001]), and microwave exposure ([OR = 3.55 (95% CI 2.24–5.63), P ≤0.001]) were more in the MS group. Sun exposure ([OR = 0.09 (95% CI 0.02–0.38), P = 0.001]), dairy and calcium consumption ([OR = 0.44 (95% CI 0.27–0.71), P = 0.001]), diabetes mellitus ([OR = 0.11 (95% CI 0.01–00.99), P = 0.049], and complete vaccination during childhood appeared to decreased MS risk. Our results investigated many risk factors and protective factors in Iran.  相似文献

Cell-free mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) is a highly immunogenic molecule that is associated with several inflammatory conditions and with neurocognitive impairment during untreated HIV infection. Here, we investigate how cell-free mtDNA in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is associated with inflammation, neuronal damage, and neurocognitive functioning in the context of long-term suppressive antiretroviral therapy (ART). We quantified the levels of cell-free mtDNA in the CSF from 41 HIV-infected individuals with completely suppressed HIV RNA levels in blood plasma (<50 copies/mL) by droplet digital PCR. We measured soluble CD14, soluble CD163, interferon γ-induced protein 10 (IP-10), monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1), interleukin 6 (IL-6), interleukin 8 (IL-8), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), neopterin, and neurofilament light chain (NFL) by immunoassays in CSF supernatant or blood plasma. Higher levels of mtDNA in CSF were associated with higher levels of MCP-1 (r = 0.56, p < 0.01) in CSF and TNF-α (r = 0.43, p < 0.01) and IL-8 (r = 0.44, p < 0.01) in blood plasma. Subjects with a previous diagnosis of AIDS showed significantly higher levels of mtDNA (p < 0.01) than subjects without AIDS. The associations between mtDNA and MCP-1 in CSF and TNF-α in blood remained significant after adjusting for previous diagnosis of AIDS (p < 0.01). Additionally, higher levels of mtDNA were associated with a lower CD4 nadir (r = ?0.41, p < 0.01) and lower current CD4% (r = ?0.34, p = 0.03). Paradoxically, higher levels of mtDNA in CSF were significantly associated with better neurocognitive performance (r = 0.43, p = 0.02) and with less neuronal damage (i.e. lower NFL). Higher cell-free mtDNA is associated with inflammation during treated HIV infection, but the impact on neurocognitive functioning and neuronal damage remains unclear and may differ in the setting of suppressive ART.  相似文献

This study aimed to evaluate the association of the toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) polymorphisms rs1927914, rs10759932, and rs11536889 with susceptibility to ischemic stroke (IS) and the serum levels of inflammatory cytokines. A total of 816 IS patients and 816 control subjects were genotyped using Sequenom MassARRAY technology. The serum levels of interleukin 1 beta (IL-1β), interleukin 6 (IL-6), interleukin 8 (IL-8), and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα) were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. rs1927914 was significantly associated with male IS patients in the additive model [odds ratio (OR) = 0.81; 95% confidence interval (CI) = 0.67–0.99; P = 0.039] and in the allele model (OR = 0.81; 95% CI = 0.66–0.99; P = 0.037). In the dominant model, rs10759932 was significantly associated with the serum TNFα level of the male IS patients [regression coefficient (β) = 0.15; 95% CI = 0.01–0.29; P adj = 0.042]. This polymorphism was also correlated with the serum IL-8 level of female IS patients in the additive model (β = 0.24; 95% CI = 0.25–0.43; P adj = 0.021) and in the recessive model (β = 0.65; 95% CI = 0.11–1.11; P adj = 0.026). The TLR4 gene rs1927914 polymorphism was associated with susceptibility to IS in males. Moreover, the rs10759932 polymorphism may affect inflammatory response in IS patients.  相似文献

The risk factors for post-procedural events after carotid artery stenting (CAS) have not been well established. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between metabolic syndrome (MetS) and the risk of post-CAS complications. A total of 358 consecutive patients who underwent CAS were enrolled in this prospective study. Patients’ demographic data, clinical characteristics, and complications after CAS within 30 days were recorded. Logistic regression analysis was performed to identify possible risk factors for post-procedural complications after CAS. The incidence of complications after CAS within 30 days was 7.0%. Logistic regression analysis identified the following as independent risk factors for 30-day transient ischemic attacks, stroke, myocardial infarction, and death after CAS: metabolic syndrome (OR = 2.31, 95% CI 1.91–3.01, P = 0.004), diabetes (OR = 2.24, 95% CI 1.74–2.76, P = 0.026), symptomatic patient (OR = 1.73, 95% CI 1.23–3.05, P = 0.011), and age (OR = 1.87, 95% CI 1.35–2.57, P = 0.042). Among the components of MetS, central obesity (OR = 2.21, 95% CI 1.24–2.63, P = 0.006), low high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) (OR = 1.66, 95% CI 1.34–2.27, P = 0.022), and high fasting plasma glucose (OR = 2.32, 95% CI 1.85–2.74, P = 0.003) were associated with increased risk of 30-day complications after CAS. This present study suggests that patients with metabolic syndrome have significantly increased risk of complications after CAS within 30 days. Moreover, MetS patients with central obesity, high fasting plasma glucose, or low HDL-C have significantly increased risk of complications after CAS within 30 days.  相似文献

Background

D-dimer levels are used in several clinical settings, such as in predicting venous thrombosis, cardioembolic stroke and cancer status. In the present study, we investigated the associations between plasma D-dimer levels at admission, clinical characteristics and mortality at discharge in cryptogenic stroke patients. We also investigated whether D-dimer levels can predict long-term outcomes in those patients, including those with and without right-to-left shunt (RLS).

Methods

Acute cryptogenic stroke patients (n = 295, 72 ± 13 years old) were consecutively enrolled and retrospectively analyzed. We defined the cryptogenic stroke as an undetermined etiology according to the Trial of Org 10172 in Acute Stroke Treatment criteria. Plasma D-dimer levels at admission were evaluated. Assessments for RLS were performed using saline contrast-transcranial Doppler ultrasonography or contrast-transesophageal echography. Survivors (at discharge) underwent follow-up for up to 3 years after stroke onset.

Results

Of the total enrolled cohort, 17 patients died at discharge. D-dimer levels correlated with initial National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score (r = 0.391, P < 0.001) and were associated with mortality at discharge [odds ratio 1.04; 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.00–1.08, P = 0.049] after adjusting for age, sex and initial NIHSS score. Of the 278 survivors at discharge, 266 patients were evaluated to assess RLS during hospitalization, and 62 patients (23.3%) exhibited RLS. According to the median plasma D-dimer levels at admission (0.7 µg/ml), the patients were divided into a low D-dimer group (n = 136, < median) and a high D-dimer group (n = 130, ≥ median). Patients in the high D-dimer group were older, more frequently female, had a lower BMI, had a higher prevalence of cancer and had greater initial neurological severity compared to the patients in the low D-dimer group. During the follow-up period (median, 1093 days), 31 patients developed recurrent stroke and 33 patients died. High D-dimer levels at admission were independently associated with recurrent stroke and all-cause mortality [hazard ratio (HR) 3.76; 95% CI 1.21–14.1, P = 0.021) in patients with RLS, but not in those without RLS (HR 1.35; 95% CI 0.74–2.50, P = 0.335).

Conclusions

Increased D-dimer levels at admission were associated with mortality at discharge in cryptogenic stroke patients. In addition, high D-dimer levels were also associated with long-term outcomes in cryptogenic stroke patients with RLS.

To study the changes in serum interleukin-11 (IL-11), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expressions following hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage (HICH), and explore their associations with disease severity and prognosis. Serum IL-11, TNF-α, and VEGF levels after 1, 3, 7, and 14 days after HICH were assayed using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and neurological deficit score (NDS) were recorded at admission and discharge for 99 HICH cases. Then 45 healthy controls were included and assayed for serum IL-11, TNF-α, and VEGF levels. Serum IL-11, TNF-α, and VEGF levels were higher in HICH patients than healthy controls (all P < 0.05). TNF-α was higher at the 3rd day following disease onset than other time points (all P < 0.05), while IL-11 and VEGF peaked at the 7th day and dropped below baseline values at the 14th day (all P < 0.05). Serum IL-11 was positively correlated with TNF-α (r = 0.70, P < 0.05) and VEGF (r = 0.72, P < 0.05). Serum TNF-α was positively correlated with VEGF (r = 0.46, P < 0.05). Serum IL-11, TNF-α, and VEGF were associated with disease severity in HICH patients. Patients with more severe disease tended to have higher NDS at admission, and higher IL-11, TNF-α, and VEGF during treatment were associated with higher NDS at discharge. Serum IL-11, TNF-α, and VEGF may involve in the pathophysiology of HICH, thus IL-11, TNF-α, and VEGF may be prognostic factors for post HICH neurologic damage.  相似文献

Valproate (VPA) is an antiepileptic drug (AED) used for initial monotherapy in treating childhood absence epilepsy (CAE). EEG might be an alternative approach to explore the effects of AEDs on the central nervous system. We performed a comparative analysis of background EEG activity during VPA treatment by using standardized, low-resolution, brain electromagnetic tomography (sLORETA) to explore the effect of VPA in patients with CAE. In 17 children with CAE, non-parametric statistical analyses using sLORETA were performed to compare the current density distribution of four frequency bands (delta, theta, alpha, and beta) between the untreated and treated condition. Maximum differences in current density were found in the left inferior frontal gyrus for the delta frequency band (log-F-ratio = ?1.390, P > 0.05), the left medial frontal gyrus for the theta frequency band (log-F-ratio = ?0.940, P > 0.05), the left inferior frontal gyrus for the alpha frequency band (log-F-ratio = ?0.590, P > 0.05), and the left anterior cingulate for the beta frequency band (log-F-ratio = ?1.318, P > 0.05). However, none of these differences were significant (threshold log-F-ratio = ±1.888, P < 0.01; threshold log-F-ratio = ±1.722, P < 0.05). Because EEG background is accepted as normal in CAE, VPA would not be expected to significantly change abnormal thalamocortical oscillations on a normal EEG background. Therefore, our results agree with currently accepted concepts but are not consistent with findings in some previous studies.  相似文献

It has been reported that the associations between circulating insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) and insulin-like growth factor binding protein-3 (IGFBP-3) and Alzheimer’s disease (AD) are controversial. Thus, present meta-analysis was carried out to confirm the probable associations. We searched “PubMed”, “Springer” and “Medline” databases using the term (“insulin-like growth factor-1” or “IGF-1” or “insulin-like growth factor binding protein-3” or “IGFBP-3”) and (“Alzheimer’s disease”) until April 2016. Furthermore, standard mean differences (SMDs) were calculated. A total of seven reports involving 1342 percipients were pooled. SMDs were ?0.25 (P = 0.22) and ?0.33 (P = 0.08) for IGF-1 and IGFBP-3, respectively. Furthermore, the circulating IGF-1 levels in AD patients were lower than controls when studies with the difference of mean age ≤1 year (SMD ?0.57, P = 0.007) or 2 years (SMD ?0.58, P = 0.02) or difference of mean MMSE scores ≤10 scores (SMD ?0.94, P < 0.00001), or studies from Europe (SMD ?0.89, P < 0.00001) were excluded. In addition, the circulating IGFBP-3 levels in AD patients were lower than controls when studies with the difference of mean age ≤2 years (SMD ?0.62, P = 0.006) or difference of mean MMSE scores ≤6 scores (SMD ?0.48, P = 0.0004), 7 scores (SMD ?0.58, P = 0.02), or 8 scores (SMD ?0.80, P = 0.03) were excluded. Even though no significant difference of circulating IGF-1 and IGFBP-3 levels in AD patients comparing with controls was found in present meta-analysis, the current study provided the evidence that the circulating IGF-1 and IGFBP-3 level in AD patients were influenced by the difference of mean age as well as MMSE scores. Furthermore, circulating IGFBP-3 levels in AD patients may be decreased earlier than IGF-1.  相似文献
