Synovial hemangioma of the knee joint. A case report

Synovial hemangioma of the knee joint was diagnosed in a young woman 15 years after the first signs. The principal clinical manifestation involved repeated episodes of hemorrhagic joint effusion. MRI is the exploration of choice for this vascular tumor of the synovial membrane, although a pathology study is needed to confirm the diagnosis. Cure is achieved with surgical resection.     

Cavernous hemangioma of the parietal bone. A case report

Intraosseous cavernous hemangiomas are a rare finding in the calvarium. It is a benign tumors arising from the intrinsic vasculature of the bone. We report one case observed in a 31 year-old female, presented with a progressive left parietal mass. A plain X-ray of the skull and cranial CT-scan showed a osteolytic lesion in the left parietal bone. Surgery consisted of total resection of the lesion and cranioplasty. The postoperative course was uneventful. Histological study revealed a cavernous hemangioma of the diploe. In view of this observation and the literature review, clinical; radiological and therapeutic aspect of this rare entity are discussed.     

A case report of scrotal hemangioma

A 21-year-old man with painless tumor in the right scrotum was seen at our Department. The tumor was resected surgically and histological examination revealed venous hemangioma. This case is 26th case of scrotal hemangioma in Japan.     

Subperiosteal hemangioma. A case report and review of the literature

Subperiosteal hemangioma (SPH), an exceptionally rare lesion, was diagnosed in a 68-year-old man. SPH is usually small and is most commonly located in the midshaft of a long tubular bone such as the tibia or fibula. A wide range of age groups is affected. SPH may present with mild pain or local swelling unassociated with trauma. Radiologically, it usually appears as a shallow cup-shaped depression surrounded by cortical thickening. Several other periosteal and intracortical lesions must be considered in the differential diagnosis, but the final diagnosis rests on microscopic evaluation. The treatment of SPH is marginal excision; local recurrences have not been reported after such treatment.     

Neisseria gonorrhoeae foot abscess. A case report

A cutaneous abscess involving Neisseria gonorrhoeae is extremely rare outside the perineum. Such remote lesions are a result of disseminated gonococcal disease. A 12-year-old girl with arthrogryposis multiplex congenita developed a gonococcal abscess on the plantar aspect of her lateral forefoot after a two-week prodrome of pain, erythema, and swelling. The infection was successfully treated with open drainage, acetic acid dressing changes, and the administration of penicillin.
