Background: The provision of care to patients with psychiatric disorders and working in a challenging environment lead to many problems among psychiatric nurses. The aim of this study was to explore the challenges nurses faced while working in acute psychiatric wards. Design: A qualitative design using content analysis was used. Fifteen nurses working in psychiatric wards in hospitals affiliated to a university hospital in an urban area of Iran were chosen using a purposive sampling approach. Semi-structured interviews were used for data collection. An inductive content analysis method was used to analyse the collected data. Results: Four themes were developed based on the analysed data: “experiencing psycho-social challenges,” “experiencing psychological challenges,” “encountering catalysts causing challenges,” and “employing various strategies for coping with challenges.” Conclusions: Given the importance of physical and mental well-being of nurses and the moral and professional responsibility of an organization to protect staff health, it is of prime importance to examine the inpatient psychiatric nurses' experiences to better understand them and hopefully use such knowledge so as to improve their work life.  相似文献

目的:调查重庆市精神科护士工作环境现状并分析其影响因素,为改善精神科护士工作环境提供理论依据。方法采用护士专业工作环境量表对重庆市21家医院共685名精神科工作护士进行问卷调查,采用多元线性回归分析其工作环境的影响因素。结果重庆市精神科护士专业工作环境量表得分最高和得分最低的维度分别为“医护关系”(3.12±0.43)分和“团队合作”(1.80±0.75)分。多元线性回归分析显示:医院的地理位置、等级、类型、护士学历、聘用形式及护患比对重庆市精神科护士的工作环境具有预测作用(P<0.01)。结论精神科护士工作环境受到多个因素影响,护理管理者可通过对相关因素的干预,改善精神科护士工作环境,提高护理质量,促进患者康复。  相似文献

本文通过对我院1995年11月—1996年11月受到精神病人攻击的76名护士的情况进行回顾性总结调查,发现:男女病人攻击护士的方式不完全一样,男女病人24小时之内以5Pm—1Am发生攻击行为最多,与护士的技巧、护龄长短、责任心等有关系;并且精神病人的攻击行为是可以预测的,通过加强保护措施护士的受伤也是可以避免的。  相似文献

PROBLEM: In Japan, preregistration education is not sufficient to prepare nurses to work as child adolescent mental health nurses. METHODS: Nominal group technique (NGT) using focus group discussions, and Knowles' Adult Learning Theory, were used to examine the continuing educational needs of nurses in a Japanese adolescent mental health unit. FINDINGS: Nurses caring for adolescent patients with mental health issues need continuing education. This research demonstrates the utility of nominal group technique in needs analysis in this context. CONCLUSIONS: Educational priorities include instruction on patients' developmental stage, promoting patient self‐sufficiency, and strategies for meeting the needs of families. This study examined the relationships between stress and social support systems in dealing with burnout among medical and surgical ward nurses. Multiple regression analyses demonstrated main effects for amount of and satisfaction with social support, with burnout as the criterion. That is, nurses with high sources of social support and high levels of satisfaction with that support reported less burnout than nurses with few supports and less satisfaction with those supports, regardless of level of work stress. No buffering effects were found for family support. That is, nurses with high work stress and high family support did not experience lower burnout than nurses with high work stress and low family support. 目的 了解ICU病房与外科病房护士在工作中所面临的压力并进行比较.方法 采用整群抽样法,利用国内李小妹的临床护士压力源量表对本院ICU病房和外科病房的110名护士进行问卷调查,并用SPSS11.5软件包对数据进行统计学处理.结果 外科护士在患者的要求太高或太过分、患者不礼貌这两方面压力高于ICU护士,ICU护士在工作分工不明确、无足够时间实施心理护理、护理的患者病情过重、医生对护理工作过分挑剔、与医生发生冲突方面压力高于外科护士,差异有统计学意义(p<0.05).结论 ICU护士与外科病房护士在工作环境中均存在多种压力源,护士承受较高的压力水平,应该重视护士的压力源与心理健康状况.  相似文献

目的 了解神经内科护士的心理卫生状况,促进其身心健康.方法 采用SCL-90量表测量98名神经内科护士的心理卫生状况,并与常模做比较.结果 神经内科护士的SCL-90总分、总均分、阳性条目数、阳性均分、部分因子分高于全国常模(p<0.05),不同文化程度、不同职称护士在躯体化、抑郁和焦虑因子上得分有差异(p<0.05)).结论 神经内科护士的心理健康状况水平明显低于正常人群,其心理健康应得到关注.  相似文献

目的 探讨在精神科住院患者基于日常生活能力评定量表进行分级护理的应用效果.方法 选取在我院精神科住院的患者324例,按照随机数字表法分为对照组和观察组,每组各162例.对照组采用常规分级护理,观察组基于日常生活能力评定量表进行分级护理.观察比较2组精神病患者护理质量评分、护理不良事件发生率、护理观察量表评分.结果 观察组护理文书、基础护理、病情观察、专科护理和护理质量总分均高于对照组(P<0.05);观察组护理不良事件发生率低于对照组(P<0.05);住院2个月后,观察组个人卫生、社会能力及社会兴趣优于对照组(P<0.05),观察组精神症状、激惹、抑郁、退缩程度低于对照组(P<0.05).结论 对精神病患者基于日常生活能力评定量表进行分级护理,可提高精神病患者护理质量,减少护理不良事件发生,改善患者精神症状,提高其日常生活能力.  相似文献

Every state in the United States has established laws that allow an unharmed newborn to be relinquished to personnel in a safe haven, such as hospital emergency departments, without legal penalty to the parents. These Safe Haven, Baby Moses, or Safe Surrender laws are in place so that mothers in crisis can safely and legally relinquish their babies at a designated location where they can be protected and given medical care until a permanent home can be found. It is important for health care professionals to know about and understand their state’s law and how to respond should an infant be surrendered at their facility. No articles were found in the peer-reviewed literature that describe a method to evaluate nurse competency during infant relinquishment at a Safe Haven location. This article will describe commonalities and differences among these Safe Haven Laws, responsibilities of the hospital and staff receiving a relinquished infant, and 1 hospital’s experience when running an infant relinquishment drill in their emergency department.  相似文献

Although suicide assessment has been researched, nurses haven't been included in studies nor has this been explored from a phenomenographic perspective. Suicide assessment by nurses was investigated using a phenomenographic design. Data were collected through observations, vignettes, and interviews. Phenomenographic analysis discovered four qualitative differences in suicide assessment among nurse participants: reliance on (1) examples of other suicide cases, (2) intuition, (3) others’ assessments, and (4) prior experience. The categories were classified into a three dimensional theoretical structure of suicide assessment: (a) Knowledge, (b) Method, and (c) Reference. Variability in participants’ assessments established a structure of suicide assessment that furthers understanding of how nurses assess suicide and provides implications for practice.  相似文献
