ABSTRACT

Few studies have focused on premenstrual symptoms in employees. This study explored the prevalence of premenstrual symptoms in 7,193 female employees aged 18–55 years in a large electronics manufacturer in Taiwan from August 2014 to December 2014 and examined whether regular exercise was associated with premenstrual symptoms. Information was collected on demographics, lifestyle, menstrual history, menstrual pain, and premenstrual symptoms. Half of the participants reported irregular menstruation; 79.4% reported a moderate menstruation amount, and half reported little impact of menstrual pain at work. In order of prevalence, symptoms were “easy to fatigue” (24%), “backache” (21.2%), and “abdominal bloating” (17.4%). Participants who engaged in regular exercise reported fewer backaches (adjusted odds ratio [aOR] = 0.79, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 0.68–0.91), somatic discomfort (aOR = 0.78, 95% CI = 0.63–0.96), headache (OR = 0.82, 95% CI = 0.69–0.98), diarrhea (aOR = 0.76, 95% CI = 0.60–0.96), constipation (aaOR = 0.59, 95% CI = 0.44–0.78), less irritability (aOR = 0.78, 95% CI = 0.65–0.94), feeling morose and depressed (aOR = 0.75, 95% CI = 0.58–0.95), crying (aOR = 0.51, 95% CI = 0.27–0.87), and emotional lability (aOR = 0.73, 95% CI = 0.58–0.91). Regular exercise was associated with decreased menstrual pain (aOR = 0.85, 95% CI = 0.76–0.96). Our findings provide a better understanding of premenstrual symptoms in female workers, allowing for the development of premenstrual health programs to improve their health and quality of life.  相似文献

Poor pregnancy and birth outcomes are major problems in the United States, and maternal smoking during pregnancy has been identified as one of the most preventable risk factors associated with these outcomes. This study examines less explored risk factors of smoking among underserved African American pregnant women. A cross-sectional survey was conducted at an outpatient obstetrics-gynecology clinic of an inner-city university hospital in Virginia from March 2009 through January 2011 in which pregnant women (N = 902) were interviewed at their first prenatal care visit. Survey questions included items related to women’s sociodemographic characteristics as well as their pregnancy history; criminal history; receipt of social services; child protective services involvement; insurance status; and history of substance abuse, domestic violence, and depression. Multiple logistic regression was conducted to calculate odds ratios and 95 % confidence intervals depicting the relationship between these factors and smoking during pregnancy. The analysis reported that maternal age [OR = 1.08, 95 % CI = 1.05–1.12], less than high school education [OR = 4.30, 95 % CI = 2.27–8.14], unemployed [OR = 2.33, 95 % CI = 1.35–4.04], criminal history [OR = 1.66, 95 % CI = 1.05–2.63], receipt of social services [OR = 2.26, 95 % CI = 1.35–3.79] alcohol use [OR = 2.73, 95 % CI = 1.65–4.51] and illicit drug use [OR = 1.97, 95 % CI = 1.04–3.74] during pregnancy were statistically significant risk factors associated with smoking during pregnancy. In addition to the well known risk factors, public health professionals should be aware that criminal history and receipt of social services are important factors associated with smoking during pregnancy. Social service providers such as WIC and prisons and jails may offer a unique opportunity for education and cessation interventions during the preconception or interconception period.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

A cross-sectional study was performed to identify the factors associated with health-related quality of life (HRQoL) among 1,236 married Turkish women aged 15–49 years, in the urban area of Sivas, between January and July 2017. Multiple logistic regression analyzes showed that being unemployed [adjusted odds ratio (AOR) = 1.73, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.18–2.25], and having an unsatisfying sexual life (AOR = 1.54, 95% CI = 1.17–2.03), a chronic illness (AOR = 1.66, 95% CI = 1.27–2.17), more than three children (AOR = 1.38, 95% CI = 1.03–1.86), and experienced domestic violence (AOR = 2.15, 95% CI = 1.55–2.98) were associated with worse mental HRQoL. Having less than a high school education (AOR = 2.00, 95% CI = 1.33–3.02), a chronic illness (AOR = 2.49, 95% CI = 1.88–3.30), a history of abortion (AOR = 1.59, CI = 1.09–2.31), and experienced domestic violence (AOR = 1.71, 95% CI = 1.21–2.40) were associated with worse physical HRQoL. These findings suggest that health care providers or policy makers should pay special attention to unemployed women who are less educated, have more than three children and those having unsatisfied sexual lives, chronic illness, domestic violence experience and abortion history to enhance their HRQoL.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Few studies have focused on adverse relations of job strain to health in disabled employees by gender. In this study, the author explores gender differences in work-related stress, social support, and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) among 106 disabled employees in an electronics manufacturing plant during 2012–2013, using questionnaire data on demographics, perceived work-related stress, the Beck Depression Inventory, the Chinese version of the Job Content Questionnaire (C-JCQ), and HRQoL. The prevalence of stress related to workload, colleagues, and supervisor were 26.4%, 14.1%, and 8.5%, respectively. Disabled females had higher scores for psychological job demand than male disabled employees (p = .0219). Increasing psychological job demand scores were adversely related to physical function scores (β = ?1.6) in males, whereas increasing decision latitude scores were positively related to role-limitation due to physical function (β = 2.3), general health (β = 1.2), vitality (β = 1.3), role-limitation due to emotional health (β = 2.6), and mental health (β = 0.9) scores in females. These results provide a better understanding of the HRQoL in female and male disabled workers, allowing for the development of stress-prevention programs specific for gender in disabled laborers.  相似文献

To determine prevalence and factors associated with intimate partner violence (IPV) among pregnant women seeking antenatal care. This was a cross-sectional study conducted at Kisumu District Hospital, Kenya amongst randomly selected pregnant women. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data. Participants self-reported about their own IPV experience (lifetime, 12 months prior to and during index pregnancy) and associated risk factors. Data were analyzed using Epi-info. The mean age of the 300 participants was 23.7 years. One hundred and ten (37 %) of them experienced at least one form of IPV during pregnancy. Psychological violence was the most common (29 %), followed by sexual (12 %), and then physical (10 %). Women who experienced IPV during pregnancy were more likely to have witnessed maternal abuse in childhood (aOR 2.27, 95 % CI = 1.05–4.89), been in a polygamous union (aOR 2.48, 95 % CI = 1.06–5.8), been multiparous (aOR 1.94, 95 % CI = 1.01–3.32) or had a partner who drank alcohol (aOR 2.32, 95 % CI = 1.21–4.45). Having a partner who attained tertiary education was protective against IPV (aOR 0.37, 95 % CI = 0.16–0.83). We found no association between HIV status and IPV. IPV is common among women seeking antenatal care at Kisumu District Hospital. Health care providers should be alerted to the possibility of IPV during pregnancy in women who witnessed maternal abuse in childhood, are multiparous, polygamous, have a partner who drinks alcohol or has low level education. Screening for IPV, support and referral is urgently needed to help reduce the burden experienced by pregnant women and their unborn babies.  相似文献

Social determinants are important to cancer screening among African Americans. To evaluate the association between social determinants (e.g., psychological characteristics, perceived social environment, cultural beliefs such as present temporal orientation) and colorectal cancer (CRC) screening among African Americans. African American adults (n = 262) ages 50–75 completed a telephone interview. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to identify factors having significant independent associations with CRC screening. Only 57 % of respondents reported having CRC screening. The likelihood of screening increased with greater neighborhood satisfaction (OR = 1.38, 95 % CI = 1.01, 1.90, p = 0.04), older age (OR = 1.75, 95 % CI = 1.24, 2.48, p = 0.002), greater self-efficacy (OR = 2.73, 95 % CI = 1.40, 5.35, p = 0.003), and health care provider communication (OR = 10.78, 95 % CI = 4.85, 29.94, p = 0.0001). Community resources are important precursors to CRC screening and outcomes among African Americans. In addition to addressing psychological factors and patient–provider communication, efforts to ensure the availability of quality health care facilities that provide CRC screening in the neighborhoods where African Americans live are needed.  相似文献

Despite numerous studies of air pollution and adverse birth outcomes, few studies have investigated preeclampsia and gestational hypertension, two pregnancy disorders with serious consequences for both mother and infant. Relying on hospital birth records, we conducted a cohort study identifying 34,705 singleton births delivered at Magee-Women’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA between 1997 and 2002. Particle (<10 μm-PM10; <2.5 μm-PM2.5) and ozone (O3) exposure concentrations in the first trimester of pregnancy were estimated using the space–time ordinary Kriging interpolation method. We employed multiple logistic regression estimate associations between first trimester exposures and preeclampsia, gestational hypertension, preterm delivery, and small for gestational age (SGA) infants. PM2.5 and O3 exposures were associated with preeclampsia (adjusted OR = 1.15, 95 % CI = 0.96–1.39 per 4.0 μg/m3 increase in PM2.5; adjusted OR = 1.12, 95 % CI = 0.89–1.42 per 16.8 ppb increase in O3), gestational hypertension (for PM2.5 OR = 1.11, 95 % CI = 1.00–1.23; for O3 OR = 1.12, 95 % CI = 0.97–1.29), and preterm delivery (for PM2.5 ORs = 1.10, 95 % CI = 1.01–1.20; for O3 ORs = 1.23, 95 % CI = 1.01–1.50). Smaller 5–8 % increases in risk were also observed for PM10 with gestational hypertension and SGA, but not preeclampsia. Our data suggest that first trimester exposure to particles, mostly PM2.5, and ozone, may increase the risk of developing preeclampsia and gestational hypertension, as well as preterm delivery and SGA.  相似文献

Little is known about modifiable lifestyle factors beyond quitting smoking that could prevent preterm delivery (PTD, <37 weeks gestation). We examined the individual and joint associations of pre-pregnancy BMI, second trimester exercise and sleep on PTD. We conducted a nested, population-based case–control study interviewing postpartum 344 cases delivering at <37 weeks, as identified by clinical estimate of gestational age from prenatal screening records, and 698 term controls, excluding term low birthweight. Eligible women participated in California’s statewide Prenatal Screening Program, worked during pregnancy, and delivered a singleton birth in Southern California in 2002–2003. Modeled separately, moderate (odds ratio [OR] = 0.90; 95 % confidence interval [CI] = 0.84–0.96—per hour/week) and vigorous (OR = 0.67; 95 % CI = 0.46–0.98 for yes vs. no) exercise during the second trimester were associated with a reduced odds of PTD, and sleep duration was not (OR = 1.09, 95 % CI = 0.80–1.48 for <7 h; OR = 0.88, 95 % CI = 0.57–1.48 for >8 h vs. 7–8 h). When sleep and exercise variables were modeled together along with pre-pregnancy BMI, only moderate exercise (OR = 0.91; 95 % CI 0.85–0.98) continued to be associated with reduced odds of PTD. The benefits of moderate exercise appeared strongest for women with BMI greater than 24 kg/m2 (OR = 0.85; 95 % CI = 0.79–0.93) and weakened with decreasing BMI. No other interactions were found. Moderate exercise is associated with reduced PTD, particularly for women with BMI above the normal range. The results are of public health relevance given that these risk factors are potentially modifiable both pre-conceptionally and during pregnancy and rates of PTD are still high in the United States.  相似文献

To compare cardiovascular risk and disease prevalence in U.S. Hispanics/Latinas with and without a history of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). Cross-sectional data from 2008 to 2011 were analyzed for 8,262 (305 with GDM history) parous women, aged 20–73 years, from the Hispanic Community Health Study/Study of Latinos (HCHS/SOL). Women with and without a history of GDM were compared on sociodemographic, cardiovascular risk factor, and disease data from standardized interviews and fasting blood tests, using chi-square tests, t-tests, and logistic regressions to determine odds ratios (ORs) and 95 percent confidence intervals (CIs). Adjusting for covariates, compared to those without a history of GDM, women with a history of GDM were younger (M = 39.1 years [95 percent CI = 37.8, 41.6] vs. 45.5 years [95 percent CI = 44.9, 46.1]) and more likely to have health insurance (68.1 percent [95 percent CI = 60.3 percent, 76.0 percent] vs. 54.9 percent [95 percent CI = 52.8 percent, 57.1 percent]), had greater waist circumference (M = 102.3 cm, [95 percent CI = 100.2, 104.3] vs. 98.1 cm [95 percent CI = 97.4, 98.5]) and higher fasting glucose (116.0 mg/dL [95 percent CI = 107.8, 124.3] vs. 104.2 mg/dL [95 percent CI = 103.4, 105.1]), and had higher odds of having metabolic syndrome (OR = 1.7 [95 percent CI = 1.2, 2.6]) or diabetes (OR = 3.3 [95 percent CI = 2.2, 4.8]). Prevalences of heart and cerebrovascular disease were similar. GDM history was positively associated with diabetes but not with cardiovascular disease.  相似文献

The present study analyzed relationships between employment status, gender role conformity, and health among adult Spanish women from a biopsychosocial approach. We first examined the potential relationship between employment status and conformity to feminine norms (CFNI), second, the relationship between employment status and general and psychological health, and finally, the relationship between CFNI and general and psychological health. Unemployed women (n = 103), employed women (n = 144), and full-time homemakers (n = 100) aged 18–70 yr completed a survey, including measures of psychological health (GHQ-12), general health (self-rated health), and CFNI. Data collection was conducted during 2014. Multiple logistic regression analyses produced odds ratios (OR) and 95 petrcent confidence intervals (CI) that showed that full-time homemakers were more likely to show higher levels of feminine norms conformity (OR = 2.04; 95 percent CI = 1.13–3.69; p = .017), although these differences were no longer significant when controlled for educational level. Unemployed women (OR = 3.27; 95 percent CI = 1.87–5.73; p < .001) and women who presented greater CFNI (OR = 1.56; 95 percent CI = 1.01–2.40; p = .044) were more likely to show psychological morbidity. Public health institutions should pay attention to the relevance of employment status and gender roles, given the relation of these factors to women’s health.  相似文献

Individuals 65 years or older will comprise an estimated 20.0% of the U.S. population by 2030. This study investigated the association between food insecurity and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) among an older adult population (n = 234). HRQoL was measured using Healthy Days, a validated survey tool developed by the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention. Food-insecure individuals were more likely to report ≥14 physically unhealthy days (OR = 1.49, 95% CI 0.47–4.78) and ≥14 days with activity limitations (OR = 4.07, 95% CI 0.68–24.1). Although nonsignificant, the findings highlight food insecurity as a potentially important social determinant of health throughout the life course, including at an older age.  相似文献

Purpose

To examine the association between residence in neighborhoods with high rates of incarceration and cardiometabolic disease among nonincarcerated individuals.

Methods

We used data from two community cohort studies (n = 1368) in Atlanta, Georgia–META-Health and Predictive Health (2005–2012)—to assess the association between neighborhood incarceration rate and cardiometabolic disease, adjusting for individual-level and neighborhood-level factors. We also examined the interaction between race and neighborhood incarceration rate.

Results

Individuals living in neighborhoods with high incarceration rates were more likely to have dyslipidemia (odds ratio [OR] = 1.47; 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.03–2.09) and metabolic syndrome (OR = 1.67; 95% CI = 1.07–2.59) in fully adjusted models. Interactions between race and neighborhood incarceration rate were significant; black individuals living in neighborhoods with high incarceration rates were more likely to have hypertension (OR = 1.59; 95% CI = 1.01–2.49), dyslipidemia (OR = 1.77; 95% CI = 1.12–2.80), and metabolic syndrome (OR = 1.80; 95% CI = 1.09–2.99).

Conclusions

Black individuals living in neighborhoods with high rates of incarceration have worse cardiometabolic health profiles. Criminal justice reform may help reduce race-specific health disparities in the United States.  相似文献

This study investigated risk factors associated with the type of birth attendants and timing of postnatal care among a nationally representative sample of Nepalese women. The 2006 Nepalese Demographic and Health Survey on women age 15–49 years old who had delivered within 3 years prior to the survey (N = 4,136) was used. Multivariate logistic regression was employed to study the association between socio-demographic variables and type of birth attendants and timing of postnatal care. Only 23 % deliveries were assisted by skilled attendants. A majority of Nepalese women did not have postnatal check-ups. Education (OR = 1.46, 95 % CI = 1.11–1.92), wealth (OR = 2.57, 95 % CI = 1.59–4.15) and sufficiency of advice during pregnancy (OR = 3.09, 95 % CI = 2.16–4.41), were all independently associated with having postnatal check-ups. Similarly, maternal age, education, parity, wealth, sufficiency of advice and place of delivery were associated with having delivery assisted by a skilled attendant. The utilization of postnatal services is still very low in Nepal. Public health interventions are needed to increase the utilization of postnatal care as well as delivery assisted by skilled attendants. Such interventions should target poor women, the less educated and those in rural areas in Nepal.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Reproductive characteristics, mental health symptoms, micronutrient deficiencies, and symptoms of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) were determined among married Syrian refugee women aged 15–49 years who were living outside of camps in 2015, using probability sampling. Of the 458 participants, 51.3 percent married before the age of 18 years. Early-age marriages and number of desired children increased after the war. In multivariable analyses, education (adjusted odds ratio [aOR] = 1.2; 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.2–1.3) and length of stay in ?anl?urfa (aOR = 1.2; 95% CI = 1.1–1.2) were independently associated with early marriage. Approximately 16 percent of women were pregnant, and 26.7 percent of them had not received prenatal care; 47.7 percent had had a pregnancy loss; 50.8 percent reported symptoms of STIs. Of those who were sexually active, 37.8 percent were not using contraception. The prevalence of iron, B12, and folic acid deficiencies was 50 percent, 45.6 percent, and 10.5 percent, respectively. Early marriage (aOR = 2.2; 95% CI = 1.4–3.5) and number of desired children (aOR = 5.03; 95% CI = 3.2–7.9) were associated with not using contraception. Most (89.7 percent) women reported at least two mental health symptoms; lack of social support (aOR = 2.6; 95% CI = 1.3–5.3), language barrier (aOR = 2.3; 95% CI = 1.01–5.2), and B12 deficiency (aOR = 1.8; 95% CI = 1.01–3.4) were associated with such symptoms. The findings demonstrate the need for reproductive health and psychosocial services.  相似文献

Background: In South Korea, the number of workers suffering from mental illnesses, such as depression, has rapidly increased. There is growing concern about depressive symptoms being associated with both working conditions and psychosocial environmental factors.

Objectives: To investigate potential psychosocial environmental moderators in the relationship between working conditions and occupational depressive symptoms among wage workers.

Methods: Data were obtained from the wage worker respondents (n = 4,095) of the Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey of 2009. First, chi-square tests confirmed the differences in working conditions and psychosocial characteristics between depressive and non-depressive groups. Second, multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to examine the moderating effects of the psychosocial environmental factors between working conditions and depressive symptoms.

Results: After adjusting for potential covariates, the likelihood of depressive symptomatology was high among respondents who had dangerous jobs and flexible work hours compared to those who had standard jobs and fixed daytime work hours (OR = 1.66 and 1.59, respectively). Regarding psychosocial factors, respondents with high job demands, low job control, and low social support were more likely to have depressive symptoms (OR = 1.26, 1.58 and 1.61, respectively).

Conclusions: There is a need to develop non-occupational intervention programs, which provide workers with training about workplace depression and improve social support, and the programs should provide time for employees to have active communication. Additionally, companies should provide employees with support to access mental healthcare thereby decreasing the occurrence of workplace depression.  相似文献

Purpose

The aim of this study was to determine whether sense of coherence (SOC) at baseline predicts health-related quality of life (HRQoL) at 12–28-month follow-up among patients with coronary heart disease when controlled for sociodemographic and medical variables.

Methods

A total of 179 consecutive patients (58.28 ± 6.52 years, 16.8% women) scheduled for coronary angiography (CAG) were interviewed before CAG and 12–28 months after. SOC was measured with the 13-item Orientation to Life Questionnaire. HRQoL was measured using the Short Form Health Survey 36 (SF-36), from which the mental and physical component summaries (MCS, PCS) were calculated. The relationship between SOC and HRQoL was examined using regression analyses.

Results

SOC proved to be a significant predictor of the MCS-score (B = 0.29; 95% CI = 0.17–0.41) and PCS-score (B = 0.18; 95% CI = 0.06–0.31) when not adjusted for possible confounding sociodemographic and medical variables. After adjustment for sociodemographic and medical variables, SOC remained a predictor of the MCS-score (B = 0.26; 95% CI = 0.14–0.39). SOC also remained a predictor of the PCS-score when controlled for gender, age and family income; however, the association disappeared after adjustment for functional status (B = 0.07; 95% CI = ?0.05 to 0.19).

Conclusions

SOC is a predictor of mental and physical HRQoL at 12–28-month follow-up, crude and also after adjustment. Patients undergoing CAG with low SOC thus deserve particular attention in regard to the maintenance and improvement of their HRQoL.  相似文献

Purpose

Depression rating scales have predicted long-term sickness absence (LTSA) in previous studies. With this study, we investigated to what extent single symptoms from a depression rating scale predicted LTSA among employees who were free of clinical depression.

Methods

We studied 6,670 female employees in the Danish eldercare sector. Frequency of 12 depressive symptoms over the last 2 weeks was assessed with the Major Depression Inventory. A symptom was considered as elevated if it was present at least “slightly more than half of the time.” Data were linked to a national register on LTSA (≥3 weeks). We calculated hazard ratios (HR) from Cox’s proportional hazard models to analyze whether a symptom predicted time to onset of LTSA during a 1-year follow-up. Analyses were adjusted for age, family status, health behaviors, occupational group, and previous LTSA.

Results

Of the 12 symptoms, three predicted LTSA after adjustment for covariates: “felt low in spirits and sad” (HR = 1.41, 95 % CI = 1.05–1.89), “felt lacking in energy and strength” (HR = 1.33, 95 % CI = 1.08–1.64), and “had trouble sleeping at night” (HR = 1.38, 95 % CI = 1.09–1.74).

Conclusion

Among female eldercare workers free of clinical depression, feelings of low spirits and sadness, feelings of lack of energy and strength, and sleep disturbances predict risk of LTSA. Interventions that decrease the prevalence of these symptoms might contribute to a reduction in LTSA in this population.  相似文献

To examine access to healthcare and health outcomes for kindergartners as they relate to insurance status and type. For the 2008, 2009, and 2010 school years, surveys were distributed to parents with a child entering kindergarten in the state of Nevada. Surveys asked parents to provide information about their child concerning their insurance status, routine medical care, medical conditions, and health behaviors. Compared to their insured peers, uninsured kindergartners were less likely to have had a check-up in the previous 12 months (p < .001; OR 6.14; 95 % CI 5.77–6.53), have a primary physician (p < .001; OR 14.32; 95 % CI 13.49–15.20), or have seen a dentist (p < .001; OR 3.93; 95 % CI 3.70–4.16), and were more likely to have a reported unmet medical need (p < .001; OR 2.60; 95 % CI 2.19–3.07). Additionally, compared to children with private insurance, those children with public insurance were less likely to have had a check-up (p < .001; OR 1.73; 95 % CI 1.59–1.89), have a primary care provider (p < .001; OR 3.87; 95 % CI 3.55–4.21), and were more likely to have unmet medical needs (p < .001; OR 2.27; 95 % CI 1.83–2.81). For children in early development—a deeply critical period—insurance status and type are predictors of important access to healthcare variables.  相似文献

Research on the association between adverse childhood events (ACEs) and depression among women in Hawaii is scarce. ACEs have been linked to unfavorable health behaviors such as smoking and binge drinking which are more prevalent in the state compared to the US overall. The concomitant presence of ACEs with smoking or binge drinking may explain the excess depression prevalence in Hawaii compared to the national average. Using data of women residing in the state (2010 Hawaii Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System Survey), we examined the association between ACEs count or type (household dysfunction and physical, verbal and sexual abuse) and current depressive symptoms (CDS), in addition to modification by current smoking status (smoked >100 cigarettes in a lifetime and currently smoke) and binge drinking (consumed ≥4 alcoholic beverage within the past month and in ≥1 occasion(s)). Evaluation of ACEs before age 18 consisted of 11 indicators. Eight indicators of the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-8) were used to assess CDS. All analyses utilized logistic regression taking into account sampling design. The odds ratio of having CDS between those with versus without ACEs increased per increasing number of ACEs (1 ACE: OR = 2.11, CI = 1.16–3.81; 2 ACEs: OR = 2.90, CI = 1.51–5.58; 3 or 4 ACEs: OR = 3.94, CI = 2.13–7.32; 5+ ACEs: OR = 4.04, CI = 2.26–7.22). Household dysfunction (OR = 2.10, CI = 1.37–3.23), physical abuse (OR = 1.67, CI = 1.08–2.59), verbal abuse (OR = 3.21, CI = 2.03–5.09) and sexual abuse (OR = 1.68, CI = 1.04–2.71) were all positively associated with CDS. Verbal abuse had the strongest magnitude of association. Neither current smoking status nor binge drinking modified the relationship between ACEs count (or type) and CDS. In conclusion, the presence of ACEs among women in Hawaii was indicative of CDS in adulthood, notably verbal abuse. Further, a dose response existed between the number of ACEs and the odds for CDS. The concomitant exposure to ACEs and current smoking status or binge drinking did not elevate odds for CDS.  相似文献
