UR50 ultra-early-strength cement-based self-compacting high-strength material is a special cement-based material. Compared with traditional high-strength concrete, its ultra-high strength, ultra-high toughness, ultra-impact resistance, and ultra-high durability have received great attention in the field of protection engineering, but the dynamic mechanical properties of impact compression at high strain rates are not well known, and the dynamic compressive properties of materials are the basis for related numerical simulation studies. In order to study its dynamic compressive mechanical properties, three sets of specimens with a size of Φ100 × 50 mm were designed and produced, and a large-diameter split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) with a diameter of 100 mm was used to carry out impact tests at different speeds. The specimens were mainly brittle failures. With the increase in impact speed, the failure mode of the specimens gradually transits from larger fragments to small fragments and a large amount of powder. The experimental results show that the ultra-early-strength cement-based material has a greater impact compression brittleness, and overall rupture occurs at low strain rates. Its dynamic compressive strength increases with the increase of strain rates and has an obvious strain rate strengthening effect. According to the test results, the relationship curve between the dynamic enhancement factor and the strain rate is fitted. As the impact speed increases, the peak stress rises, the energy absorption density increases, and its growth rate accelerates. Afterward, based on the stress–strain curve, the damage variables under different strain rates were fitted, and the results show that the increase of strain rate has a hindering effect on the increase of damage variables and the increase rate.  相似文献

Dynamic compressive tests of sand under passive confining pressure were carried out using a Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar (SHPB) setup. The dynamic response, energy dissipation and particle-breaking behaviors of sand subjected to high-speed impact were investigated. Sand specimens with moisture contents of 0%, 2%, 4%, 8%, 10% and 12% and relative densities of 0.1, 0.5 and 0.9 were prepared. The variation in the strain rate was controlled between 90 s−1 and 500 s−1. The specimens were confined in a designed sleeve to create passive confining pressure. The experimental results show that the sand specimens were extremely sensitive to the strain rate. When the strain rate was less than 400 s−1, the stress and strain of the specimens increased with the increase in the strain rate but decreased when the strain rate exceeded 400 s−1. The peak strain and peak stress increased with the increase in the relative density. Particle breakage was aggravated with the strain-rate increase. Compared with the specimen without water, the relative breakage rate of the specimen with a moisture content of 12% decreased by 30.53% when the strain rate was about 95 s−1 and by 25.44% when the strain rate was about 460 s−1. The analysis of energy dissipation revealed the essential cause of sand destruction. The specific energy absorption rate increased with the increases in the initial relative density and moisture content.  相似文献

This study focuses on the dynamic compression performance of corroded steel fiber-reinforced concrete (SFRC) exposed to drying–wetting chloride cycles by a 37 mm diameter split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) system. Three steel fiber contents (0.5%, 1.0%, 2.0%, by volume) were incorporated into concrete, and samples were subjected to drying–wetting cycles for different corrosion durations (30 days, 60 days, 90 days) after 28 days age. The sample damage mode, stress–strain curve and the dynamic compression performance of corroded SFRC were compared with plain concrete. Through the experimental data, strain-rate effect, fiber reinforcement effect and the corrosion duration influence on the impact compression property of SFRC were identified. The dynamic increase factor results of these samples were compared with the existing models in previous published literature. An empirical dynamic increase factor profile characterization model considering fiber content, corrosion duration and strain-rate is proposed.  相似文献

This study investigated the flexural and impact performances of mortar composite made with carbon fibers (MCCF). Four mortar composites (MCCF1, MCCF2, MCCF3, and MCCF4) were produced, using 1%, 2%, 3%, and 4% carbon fibers by volume, respectively. Another mortar composite without any carbon fibers (MCCF0) was prepared for its use as a control mix. The freshly mixed mortar composites were tested for inverted slump cone flow time to ensure they had an adequate workability to cast test specimens under vibration. In addition, all fresh mortar composites were examined for density and air content. The hardened mortar composites were tested for their first-crack flexural strength, ultimate flexural strength, first-crack impact resistance, and ultimate impact resistance. Moreover, the first-crack flexural toughness, ultimate flexural toughness, first-crack impact toughness, and ultimate impact toughness were determined for all hardened mortar composites. The correlations among the hardened properties of the mortar composites were also sought. Finally, the optimum fiber content was defined from the overall test results and considering the costs of the mortar composites. The test results showed that the workability and density of the fresh mortar composite decreased, whereas its air content increased due to the inclusion of carbon fibers. However, MCCF3 possessed the highest density and lowest air content among all MCCF mixes. It also had a higher workability than MCCF4. In the hardened state, the first-crack flexural strength and impact resistance, as well as the ultimate flexural strength and impact resistance of mortar composite, increased significantly with the increasing volume content of carbon fibers. In addition, the first-crack flexural toughness, ultimate flexural toughness, first-crack impact toughness, and ultimate impact toughness increased greatly with the higher volume content of carbon fibers. Strong correlations between the flexural strength and impact resistance, and between the flexural toughness and impact toughness of the mortar composites, were observed. Above all, excellent flexural strength, flexural toughness, impact resistance, and impact toughness values were observed for MCCF4 (4% carbon fibers). The 28-day ultimate flexural strength and impact resistance of MCCF4 increased by 4.6 MPa and 134 blows, respectively, as compared to MCCF0. Moreover, the 28-day ultimate flexural toughness and ultimate impact toughness values of MCCF4 were higher than that of MCCF0, by 3739.7 N-mm and 2703.3 J, respectively. However, MCCF3 (3% carbon fibers) also exhibited a good performance under flexural and impact loadings. Based on the costs of all mortar composites and their performances in both fresh and hardened states, MCCF3 was derived as the best mortar mix. This implies that 3% carbon fibers can be defined as the optimum fiber content in the context of the present study.  相似文献

Recycled rubber aggregate (RRA) made from ground tire rubber has been promoted for its light weight and shock resistance. The high alkalinity of alkali-activated slag mortar has a modification effect on the surface of RRA. This paper studies the performance of alkali-activated slag mortar using RRA as aggregate (RASM), which has significance for applications in low-carbon building materials. The orthogonal test analysis method was used to analyze the significance and correlation of the main variables of the test. The dynamic energy absorption capacity and crushing state of RASM under the synergistic effect of various factors were studied using the separating Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) test system. The energy absorption characteristics and failure modes of RASM were analyzed by SEM and microscopic pore characterization. The results show that the increase of the alkali equivalent of the mix ratio will increase the peak value of the absorption energy of the specimen. When the size of the RRA is between 0.48 mm~0.3 mm, the dynamic energy absorption of the specimen will reach its peak value. Although the increase in the total volume of RRA will reduce the energy absorption capacity of RASM specimens, its crack resistance is enhanced.  相似文献

Rock failure phenomena are accompanied by abundant energy variation, and the energy dissipation can explain the dynamic mechanical characteristics of the rock. In this study, a series of granite specimens (a total of 60) with different aspect ratios were dynamically loaded by a split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) to explain the energy dissipation and the rock-crushing degree under dynamic load. A new index, namely energy time density (wtd), is proposed to evaluate the energy dissipation considering the time factor. The relationships between strain rate, energy time density, and specific energy absorption are analyzed. A metric (Ku) is defined to describe the degree of rock fragmentation quantitatively. The correlations of fractal dimension and Ku with different impact pressures are compared. It was concluded that there is a noticeable peak point in the energy time density curve. The energy time density of the stress equilibrium point is three times that of the peak point. The energy time density declines after the peak point, then the energy consumption density tends to be stable. The linear relationship between strain rate and peak point energy time density is stronger. The new index can describe energy dissipation well under dynamic loading. In addition, the experimental results indicate that the degree of crush Ku can describe the degree of crush, and the effect of fractal dimension to quantify the fracture characteristics of the rocks is less good in this test. The crushing degree of rocks increases with the increase of strain rate. Furthermore, the prediction effect of energy time density is better than that of strain rate about Ku.  相似文献

In order to improve the energy dissipation capacity and to reduce the residual deformation of civil structures simultaneously, this paper puts forwards an innovative self-centering shape memory alloy (SMA) brace that is based on the design concepts of SMA’s superelasticity and low friction slip. Seven self-centering SMA brace specimens were tested under cyclic loading, and the hysteresis curves, bond curves, secant stiffness, energy dissipation coefficient, equivalent damping coefficient, and the self-centering capacity ratio of these specimens were investigated, allowing us to provide an evaluation of the effects of the loading rate and initial strain on the seismic performance. The test results show that the self-centering SMA braces have an excellent energy dissipation capacity, bearing capacity, and self-centering capacity, while the steel plates remain elastic, and the SMA in the specimens that are always under tension are able to return to the initial state. The hysteresis curves of all of the specimens are idealized as a flag shape with low residual deformation, and the self-centering capacity ratio reached 89.38%. In addition, both the loading rate and the initial strain were shown to have a great influence on the seismic performance of the self-centering SMA brace. The improved numerical models combined with the Graesser model and Bouc–Wen model in MATLAB were used to simulate the seismic performance of the proposed braces with different loading rates and initial strains, and the numerical results are consistent with the test results under the same conditions, meaning that they can accurately predict the seismic performance of the self-centering SMA brace proposed here.  相似文献

In order to use wood for structural and load-bearing purposes in mechanical engineering, basic information on the impact behaviour of the material over a wide temperature range is needed. Diffuse porous hardwoods such as solid birch wood (Betula pendula) and solid beech wood (Fagus sylvatica) are particularly suited for the production of engineered wood products (EWPs) such as laminated veneer lumber (LVL) or plywood due to their processability in a veneer peeling process. In the frame of this study, solid birch wood and solid beech wood samples (300 × 20 × 20 mm3) were characterised by means of an impact pendulum test setup (working capacity of 150 J) at five temperature levels, ranging from −30 °C to +90 °C. The pendulum hammer (mass = 15 kg) was equipped with an acceleration sensor in order to obtain the acceleration pulse and deceleration force besides the impact bending energy. In both solid birch wood and solid beech wood, the deceleration forces were highest at temperatures at and below zero. While the average impact bending energy for solid birch wood remained almost constant over the whole considered temperature range, it was far less stable and prone to higher scattering for solid beech wood.  相似文献

The mechanical behavior of titanium alloys has been mostly studied in quasi-static conditions when the strain rate does not exceed 10 s−1, while the studies performed in dynamic settings specifically for Ti-based composites are limited. Such data are critical to prevent the “strength margin” approach, which is used to assure the part performance under dynamic conditions in the absence of relevant data. The purpose of this study was to obtain data on the mechanical behavior of Ti-based composites under dynamic condition. The Metal Matrix Composites (MMC) on the base of the alloy Ti-6Al-4V (wt.%) were made using Blended Elemental Powder Metallurgy with different amounts of reinforcing particles: 5, 10, and 20% of TiC or 5, 10% (vol.) of TiB. Composites were studied at high strain rate compression ~1–3·103·s−1 using the split Hopkinson pressure bar. Mechanical behavior was analyzed considering strain rate, phase composition, microstructure, and strain energy (SE). It is shown that for the strain rates up to 1920 s−1, the strength and SE of MMC with 5% TiC are substantially higher compared to particles free alloy. The particles TiC localize the plastic deformation at the micro level, and fracturing occurs mainly by crushing particles and their aggregates. TiB MMCs have a finer grain structure and different mechanical behavior. MMC with 5 and 10% TiB do not break down at strain rates up to almost 3000 s−1; and 10% MMC surpasses other materials in the SE at strain rates exceeding 2200 s−1. Deep rock masses exist in a complex environment with multi-field coupling; therefore, it is necessary to develop a true-triaxial static-dynamic-coupling loading test machine to explore their characteristics and mechanical response mechanism. To meet the test requirements of true-triaxial loading and strong disturbance, a wave-absorbing metal plate was selected as the boundary material between the granite and transmission end, and the modified SHPB was used to perform static-dynamic-coupling loading tests. In this study, two series of experiments on wave- absorbing metal plates were conducted, which were fixed aperture sizes with different thicknesses and fixed thicknesses with different aperture sizes. The static-dynamic-coupling loading tests on each aperture size and plate thickness were carried out under the condition of equal energy impact. The effects of the aperture size and plate thickness on the incident- and reflection-stress curves, reflectivity, energy consumption law, energy evolution, and other mechanical properties of the wave-absorbing metal plate materials were studied. The results show that the peak stress and reflectivity decrease with increasing aperture size and plate thickness, and the influence of the thickness is greater than that of the aperture size. The energy-absorption rate of the wave-absorbing metal plate increased with increasing thickness and aperture size and was maximized when the aperture size and thickness were 6–7 mm and 3–4 mm, respectively. The variation trend of the energy reflectance is opposite to that of the energy absorption and reaches a minimum when the aperture size is 6–7 mm and plate thickness is 3–4 mm. The energy transmittance of the wave-absorbing metal plate fluctuated in a stable range, but the variation range was less obvious compared to that of the energy-absorption rate.  相似文献

This paper discusses the performance of the short pitch-based carbon fiber reinforced mortar (CFRM) composite considering its key properties and cost-effectiveness. Five different types of mortar composite were produced using 0–4% volume contents of short pitch-based carbon fibers. The mortar composites were tested for inverted slump cone flow (flow time and volume flow), unit weight, air content, compressive strength, flexural strength, impact resistance, and water absorption. The cost-effectiveness of CFRM was assessed based on the performance to cost ratio (PCR), which was calculated for each mortar composite, considering its workability, mechanical properties, and durability. The inverted slump cone volume flow was counted as a measure of workability, whereas the compressive strength, flexural strength, and impact resistance were considered as the major attributes of the mechanical behavior. In addition, the water absorption was used as a measure of durability. The test results revealed that the mortar composite made with 3% carbon fibers provided adequate workability, a relatively high unit weight and low air content, the highest compressive strength, excellent flexural strength, good impact resistance, and the lowest water absorption. It was also found that the PCR increased up to 3% carbon fibers. Beyond a 3% fiber content, the PCR significantly decreased. The overall research findings revealed that the mortar with 3% carbon fibers was the optimum and most cost-effective mortar composite.  相似文献

Engineered cementitious composites (ECC) used as runway pavement material may suffer different strain rate loads such as aircraft taxiing, earthquakes, crash impacts, or blasts. In this paper, the dynamic tensile behaviors of the steel grid-polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fiber and KEVLAR fiber-reinforced ECC were investigated by dynamic tensile tests at medium strain rates. The mixture was designed with different volume fractions of fibers and layer numbers of steel grids to explore the reinforcement effectiveness on the dynamic performance of the ECC. The volume fractions of these two types of fibers were 0%, 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, and 2% of the ECC matrix, respectively. The layer numbers of the steel grid were 0, 1, and 2. The dynamic tensile behaviors of the PVA fiber and the KEVLAR fiber-reinforced ECC were also compared. The experimental results indicate that under dynamic tensile loads, the PVA-ECC reveals a ductile and multi-cracking failure behavior, and the KEVLAR-ECC displays a brittle failure behavior. The addition of the PVA fiber and the KEVLAR fiber can improve the tensile peak stress of the ECC matrix. For the specimens A0.5, A1, A1.5, and A2.0, the peak stress increases by 84.3%, 149.4%, 209.6%, and 237.3%, respectively, compared to the matrix specimen. For the specimens K0.5, K1, K1.5, and K2, the peak stress increases by about 72.3%, 147.0%, 195.2%, and 263.9%, respectively, compared to the matrix specimen. The optimum fiber volume content is 1.5% for the PVA-ECC and the KEVLAR-ECC. The KEVLAR-ECC can supply a higher tensile strength than the PVA-ECC, but the PVA-ECC reveals more prominent deformation capacity and energy dissipation performance than the KEVLAR-ECC. Embedding steel grid can improve the tensile peak stress and the energy dissipation of the ECC matrix. For the strain rate of 10−3 s−1, the peak stress of the A0.5S1 and A0.5S2 specimens increases by about 49.1% and 105.7% compared to the A0.5 specimen, and the peak stress of the K0.5S1 and K0.5S2 specimens increases by about 61.5% and 95.8%, respectively, compared to the K0.5 specimen.  相似文献

Epoxy polymer concrete (EPC) is widely applied in engineering for its excellent mechanical properties. The impact loads and severe climatic conditions such as ultraviolet radiation, temperature change and rain erosion are in general for its engineering practice, potentially degrading the performance of EPC. In this paper, a procedure of accelerated aging for EPC, imitating the aging effect of ultraviolet radiation and hygrothermal conditions based on the meteorological statistics of Guangzhou city, was designed. After various periods of accelerated aging, the dynamic behaviors of EPC were studied by using a Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar (SHPB). The verification of the experimental data was performed. The two-stage dynamic compression stress-strain curves were obtained: (a) linear growth stage following by strain hardening stage at impact velocity 12.2 m/s and 18.8 m/s, (b) linear growth stage and then a horizontal stage when impact velocity is 25.0 m/s, (c) linear growth stage following by strain softening stage at impact velocity 29.2 m/s. The experimental results show that the specimens after longer accelerated aging tend to be more easily broken, especially at impact velocity 12.2 m/s and 18.8 m/s, while the strain rate is the main factor affecting the compression strength and stiffness. Ultimately the influence of strain rate and equivalent aging time on dynamic increase factor was revealed by a fitting surface.  相似文献

This study aims to solve the problems of the high cost, heavy pollution and poor performance of traditional engineered cementitious composites (ECC) by adding modified Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) aggregate, Polypropylene (PP)–Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) hybrid fiber and large amount of fly ash. The PVC aggregate is modified by pre-coating silica fume with a PP fiber volume content of 0.5%, PVA fiber volume contents of 1%, 1.5%, and 2%, PVC aggregate contents of 10%, 20%, and 30%, and fly ash volume content of 69%. Different properties and microstructures were studied by carrying out cube compression tests, splitting tensile tests, water absorption tests, drop hammer impact tests, scanning electron microscopy and nuclear magnetic resonance tests. According to the test results, under the same content of PVC aggregate, the use of modified PVC aggregate can, not only effectively avoid the decrease in strength and increase of water absorption, but also improve brittleness and impact failure energy. Regardless of the kind and content of fiber, the compressive strength and brittleness will decrease, while the splitting tensile strength, water absorption, and impact failure energy will increase. After adding 0.5% PP and 1.5% PVA fiber, the performance is ordinary and a negative mixing effect occurs. As more modified PVC aggregate is added, the strength of the ECC concrete with PP–PVA hybrid fiber and modified PVC aggregate added slowly decrease, while the water absorption and impact failure energy increase. Based on a comprehensive analysis of the test data, the reinforcement method of adding 1.5% PVA-0.5% PP hybrid fiber-30% modified PVC aggregate is superior to adding 1.5% PVA fiber, but slightly inferior to adding 2% PVA fiber. This study argues that the reinforcement method is of great significance for the promotion and application of ECC.  相似文献

Porous concrete is an energy absorption material, which has been widely used in civil engineering, traffic engineering and disaster reduction engineering. However, the effect of pore structure on the impact behavior of the porous concrete is lacked. In this study, a series of drop-weight impact tests were carried out on three typical types of porous concrete, i.e., concrete hollow brick (CHB), autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) and foamed concrete (FC), to investigate the effect of pore structures on their impact behavior. For comparison, static load tests were also conducted as references. According to the damage to the samples, the developments of impact force, strain, contact stress–strain relationship and absorbed energy during drop-weight during the impact test were measured and analyzed. The results show that the ratio between the peak impact stress and compressive strength of CHB was 0.44, while that of AAC and FC increased to about 0.6, indicating that the small and uniform pore structure in AAC and FC had a higher resistance against impact load than the hollow cavity of CHB. In addition, the elastic recovery strain in AAC increased by about 0.2% and its strain at peak contact stress increased by about 160% for a comparison of CHB, implying that a small open pore structure could enhance ductility. Besides, the peak contact stress of FC was close to that of AAC during impact loading, while the strain at peak contact stress of FC increased by about 36% compared with AAC, revealing that the closed-pore structure could further enhance the deformation potential. Correspondingly, the energy absorption rates of CHB, AAC and FC were 85.9 kJ/s, 54.4 kJ/s and 49.7 kJ/s, respectively, where AAC decreased by about 58% compared with CHB, and FC decreased by about 10% compared with AAC.  相似文献

This study investigated the influence of the curing time on the fracture toughness of concrete produced with different content of low calcium fly ash (LCFA). During the study, the amounts of 20% and 30% of pozzolanic additive were used. In order to observe the effect of the applied pozzolanic additive on the analyzed concrete properties, the obtained results were compared with the values obtained for the reference concrete. Compressive strength—fcm and fracture toughness, by using mode II loading—KIIc (shearing), were determined between the 3rd and 365th days of curing. In the course of experiments, changes in the development of cracks in individual series of concrete were also analyzed. In addition, the microstructures of all composites and the nature of macroscopic crack propagation in mature concretes were assessed. It was observed that the greatest increase in fracture toughness at shear was in the case of reference concrete during the first 28 days, whereas, in the case of concretes containing LCFA, in the period of time above 4 weeks. Furthermore, concrete without the LCFA additives were characterized by a brittle fracture. In contrast to it, concretes with LCFA additives are mainly characterized by a quasi-plastic process of failure. Moreover, most of the samples showed a typical pattern of the destruction that occurs as a result of shearing. The presented test results may be helpful in selecting the composition of concrete mixtures containing LCFA to be used in concrete and reinforced concrete structures subjected to shear loads.  相似文献
