Objective

This was a systematic review and meta-analysis to compare outcomes between patients undergoing simultaneous or delayed hepatectomy for synchronous colorectal liver metastases.

Background

The optimal strategy for treating liver disease among patients with resectable synchronous colorectal liver metastases (CRLM) is unclear. Simultaneous resection of primary tumour and liver metastases may improve patient experience by reducing the number of interventions. However, there are concerns of increased morbidity compared to delayed resections.

Methods

A systematic literature search was performed using EMBASE, Medline, Cochrane library and Google scholar databases. Meta-analyses were performed using both random-effects and fixed-effect models. Publication and patient selection bias were assessed with funnel plots and sensitivity analysis.

Results

Thirty studies including 5300 patients were identified. There were no statistically significant differences in parameters relating to safety and efficacy between the simultaneous and delayed hepatectomy cohorts. Patients undergoing delayed surgery were more likely to have bilobar disease or undergo major hepatectomy. The average length of hospital stay was six days shorter with simultaneous approach [MD = ?6.27 (95% CI: ?8.20, ?4.34), p < 0.001]. Long term survival was similar for the two approaches [HR = 0.97 (95%CI: 0.88, 1.08), p = 0.601].

Conclusion

In selected patients, simultaneous resection of liver metastases with colorectal resection is associated with shorter hospital stay compared to delayed resections, without adversely affecting perioperative morbidity or long-term survival.  相似文献

Background

The liver-first strategy signifies resection of liver metastases before the primary colorectal cancer. The aim of the present study was to compare failure to complete intended treatment and survival in liver-first and classical strategies.

Methods

All patients with colorectal cancer and synchronous liver metastases planned for sequential radical surgery in a single institution between 2011 and 2015 were included.

Results

A total of 109 patients were presented to a multidisciplinary team conference (MDT) with un-resected colorectal cancer and synchronous liver metastases. Seventy-five patients were planned as liver-first, whereas 34 were recommended the classical strategy. Twenty-six patients (35%) failed to complete treatment in the liver-first group compared to 10 patients in the classical group (P = 0.664). Reason for failure was most commonly disease progression.A total of 91 patients had the primary tumor resected before the liver metastases of which 67 before referral and 24 after allocation at MDT. Median survival after diagnosis in this group was 60 (48–73) months compared to 46 (31–60) months in the group operated with liver-first strategy (n = 49), (P = 0.310).

Discussion

Up to 35% of patients with colorectal cancer and synchronous liver metastases do not complete the intended treatment of liver and bowel resections, irrespective of treatment strategy.  相似文献

Purpose

To retrospectively investigate the effectiveness of triple drug combination transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) on local tumor response and survival in patients with liver metastases from pancreatic cancer. Also, this study will evaluate the variances in response regarding the number of metastases, assess the correlation between tumor response and the changes in the apparent diffusion coefficients (ADC) in diffusion weighted (DW) MRI.

Materials and methods

One hundred and twelve patients (58 men and 54 women; mean age 57) with malignant liver metastases from pancreatic adenocarcinoma underwent at least one session of TACE with a chemotherapeutic combination of mitomycin C, cisplatin, and gemcitabine. A size-based evaluation of tumor response (response evaluation criteria in solid tumors (RECIST)) was conducted, along with ADC values, and survival indices as related to treatment pattern.

Results

Four weeks following the end of the treatment, 78.26% of patients showed stable disease and 11.59% showed partial response. The median survival time was 19 months and for the stable disease group, 26 months. Low pretreatment ADC values showed no significant correlation to poor response to treatment (r = 0.347,p = 0.146).

Conclusion

The triple drug TACE technique showed improvements in median survival times in patients with hepatic metastases from pancreatic carcinoma and helped control disease progression, whereas the number of hepatic lesions was not a statistically significant factor in patients' response to TACE. The data suggest that pre-treatment ADC values in DW-MRI have no statistical correlation with tumor response.  相似文献

Background

Patients with synchronous colorectal liver metastases (sCRLM) are increasingly operated with liver resection before resection of the primary cancer. The aim of this study was to compare outcomes in patients following the liver-first strategy and the classical strategy (resection of the bowel first) using prospectively registered data from two nationwide registries.

Methods

Clinical, pathological and survival outcomes were compared between the liver-first strategy and the classical strategy (2008–2015). Overall survival was calculated.

Results

A total of 623 patients were identified, of which 246 were treated with the liver-first strategy and 377 with the classical strategy. The median follow-up was 40 months. Patients chosen for the classical strategy more often had T4 primary tumours (23% vs 14%, P = 0.012) and node-positive primaries (70 vs 61%, P = 0.015). The liver-first patients had a higher liver tumour burden score (4.1 (2.5–6.3) vs 3.6 (2.2–5.1), P = 0.003). No difference was seen in five-year overall survival between the groups (54% vs 49%, P = 0.344). A majority (59%) of patients with rectal cancer were treated with the liver-first strategy.

Conclusion

The liver-first strategy is currently the dominant strategy for sCRLM in patients with rectal cancer in Sweden. No difference in overall survival was noted between strategies.  相似文献

Background

Determining the biologic behavior of neuroendocrine liver metastases (NELM) is important when managing patients with this disease. We sought to define the intraoperative ultrasound (IOUS) characteristics of NELM and correlate with tumor biology and prognosis.

Methods

Prospective data on patients who underwent IOUS and surgical intervention for NELM were collected, with images digitally recorded, blindly reviewed, and scored for echogenicity. Association between sonographic appearance, clinicopathologic factors and long-term outcomes was analyzed.

Results

A total of 216 lesions from 65 patients were analyzed, with IOUS identifying at least one additional metastasis than preoperative imaging in 41 patients (63.1%) with subsequent change of surgical strategy in 14 patients (21.5%). Most NELM appeared hypoechoic (49.1%) on IOUS, while 38.9% demonstrated hyperechogenicity and 12% isoechogenicity. Hypoechoic lesions were associated with poorly-differentiated tumor (p?=?0.005) and smaller tumor size (p?=?0.004). Patients with hypoechoic metastases demonstrated significantly shorter median disease-free survival compared with isoechoic or hyperechoic lesions (9 vs 20 vs 18 months, p?=?0.049).

Discussion

In addition to improved tumor detection of NELM, IOUS was found to be associated with features of tumor biology, specifically tumor grade and risk-of-recurrence. Echogenicity should be considered a potential prognostic factor in the management of patients with neuroendocrine tumors.  相似文献

Background

Intraoperative tumor manipulation may induce the dissemination of occult peritoneal tumor cells (OPTC) into the peritoneal cavity.

Methods

A systematic review was performed in the PubMed, Embase and Cochrane databases from inception to March 15, 2017. Eligible were studies that analyzed the presence of OPTC in peritoneal fluid, by any method, both before and after resection in adults who underwent intentionally curative pancreatic resection for histopathologically confirmed pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma in absence of macroscopic peritoneal metastases.

Results

Four studies with 138 patients met the inclusion criteria. The pooled rate of OPTC prior to tumor manipulation was 8% (95% CI 2%–24%). The pooled detection rate of OPTC in patients in whom OPTC became detectable only after tumor manipulation was 33% (95% CI 15–58%). Only one study (28 patients) reported on survival, which was worse in patients with OPTC (median 11.1 months versus 30.3 months; p = 0.030).

Conclusion

This systematic review suggests that tumor manipulation induces OPTC in one third of patients with pancreatic cancer. Since data on survival are lacking, future studies should determine the prognostic consequences of tumor manipulation, including the potential therapeutic effect of ‘no-touch’ and minimally invasive resection strategies.  相似文献

Background

Non-functional pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (NF-PNET) are rare neoplasms being increasingly diagnosed. Surgical treatment or expectant management are both suggested for small NF-PNETs. The aim of this study was to evaluate the outcome of surveillance strategy for small NF-PNETs.

Methods

A systematic search was performed up to March 2016 in MEDLINE, EMBASE and the Cochrane Library according to the PRISMA guidelines. Data was pooled using the random-effects model.

Results

Nine articles including 344 patients with sporadic and 64 patients with MEN1 related NF-PNET were selected. Tumor growth was observed in 22% and 52%, development of metastases were reported on 0% and 9%, and rate of secondary surgical resection was 12% and 25% in patients with sporadic or MEN1 related NF-PNETs, respectively. All metastases (1 distant, 4 nodal) were reported by a single study in patients with MEN1. Reason for secondary surgery was tumor growth in half of patients undergoing surgery.

Discussion

Expectant management of small asymptomatic, sporadic, NF-PNETs could be a reasonable option in highly selected patients. However, the level of evidence is low and longer follow-up is needed to identify patients could benefit from upfront surgery instead of expectant treatment.  相似文献

Background

Since prognosis and treatment of pancreatic endocrine tumors (pNET) are based on tumor grade, contrast-enhanced multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) features of solid non-functioning pNETs were studied and correlated with pathology tumor grading.

Methods

MDCTs of diagnosed pNETs were reviewed retrospectively. Each tumor was analyzed for location, size, homogeneity, margins, arterial and venous phase enhancement, main pancreatic duct diameter, calcifications, vascular invasion, lymph-nodes enlargement, and liver metastases.

Results

Of 154 pNETs presenting between January 2000 and May 2016 with available histology from resected specimen or biopsy, there were 65 G1, 72 G2 and 17 G3 pNETs. Tumor diameter varied significantly between the three groups. Tumors >20 mm were more frequently malignant and non-homogeneous than smaller tumors. G1 tumors were more commonly hypervascular and G3 tumors more often non-hypervascular in the arterial phase. Arterial phase non-hyperdensity and tumor non-homogeneity had a higher rate of metastatic lesions. Vascular invasion correlated with presence of metastases and histological grade. G3 tumors were all >20 mm (p = 0.007), more often non-hypervascular in the arterial phase (p = 0.0025), and non-hyperdense in the venous phase (p = 0.009), and showed more often vascular invasion (p = 0.0198).

Conclusion

CT correlated with tumor grade; differentiating low-grade and high-grade pNETs through routine CT imaging might improve patient management.  相似文献

Background

Recurrence of colorectal liver metastases after a first hepatectomy is common (4–48% of patients). This review investigates the utility of repeated hepatic resection of colorectal liver metastases.

Methods

A systematic search of the literature was performed in the Cochrane Library, MEDLINE, EMBASE, and trial registers. All studies comparing repeated hepatic resection for colorectal liver metastases with patients who underwent only one hepatectomy were eligible. Outcome criteria were safety parameters and survival rates. Data were analyzed using the random-effects model.

Results

In eight observational clinical studies, 450 patients with repeated hepatic resection were compared with 2669 single hepatic resections. Morbidity such as hepatic insufficiency (OR [95% CI] 1.46 [0.69; 3.08], p = 0.32) and biliary leakage and fistula (OR [95% CI] 1.22 [0.80; 1.85], p = 0.35) was comparable between the two groups. Mortality (OR [95% CI] 1.13 [0.46; 2.74], p = 0.79) and overall survival (HR [95% CI] 1.00 [0.63; 1.60], p = 0.99) were not significantly different between the two groups.

Discussion

Repeated hepatic resection for colorectal liver metastases is safe in selected patients. A prospective, multicenter high-quality trial or register study of repeated hepatic resection will be required to clarify patient-oriented outcomes such as overall survival and quality of life.  相似文献

Background/Objectives

The pancreatic localization of serotonin-staining neuroendocrine neoplasms is extremely rare. This is a retrospective study aimed at analyzing the endoscopic ultrasound appearance of pancreatic serotoninoma.

Methods

Between 2010 and 2016, all consecutive patients with histologically proven pancreatic serotoninoma who had undergone endoscopic ultrasound were enrolled.

Results

Eight patients (six F, median age 68.5 years) had a diagnosis of pancreatic serotoninoma and underwent endoscopic ultrasound examinations. Median diameter of the lesion was ten mm. The nodule echotexture was hypoechoic in seven out of eight cases. The most frequent localization was the pancreatic neck (four); in three cases, the tumor was located in the pancreatic head and in one in the body. In seven cases the tumor caused a main pancreatic duct dilation; in three cases also the secondary ducts were dilated. In one case a dilation of the common bile duct was observed. At contrast-enhanced endoscopic ultrasound no one showed the typical contrast-enhancement. Elastography (available in two patients) showed a rigid pattern of the lesion.

Conclusions

From this case series a specific endoscopic ultrasound appearance resulted for pancreatic serotoninoma, different from other types of pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasm, but it is difficult to differentiate it from a pancreatic adenocarcinoma or an intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm.  相似文献

Objectives

We investigated whether the combination of systemic chemotherapy (SCT) and liver-directed therapy (LDT) was superior to chemotherapy alone for patients with pancreatic adenocarcinoma and synchronous liver metastases (PACLM).

Methods

We reviewed the medical records of 184 patients treated with SCT?±?LDT at Tianjin Medical University Cancer Hospital from 2001 to 2015. Overall survival (OS) was the primary end-point. The role of treatment modality and other clinical factors was evaluated by univariate and Cox regression analyses.

Results

Sixty-four (34.8%) patients in the SCT-LDT group and 120 (65.2%) patients in the SCT group were included in the analysis. Baseline clinical characteristics were similar between the groups (all P?>?0.05). The median survival was 8.7 months in the SCT-LDT group and was 6.3 months in the SCT group. The 0.5-, 1-, 2- and 3-year survival rates were 67.2%, 33.4%, 13.3% and 8.9%, respectively, after SCT-LDT, and were 54.9%, 19.0%, 4.5% and 2.0%, respectively, after SCT (P = 0.01). Primary tumor size, ascites, and treatment modality (SCT + LDT vs. SCT) independently predicted survival (P?<?0.05). The clinical efficacy congruously favored the SCT-LDT group across the majority of subgroups.

Conclusions

SCT combined with LDT was well tolerated and may be effective to improve survival of patients with PACLM. Ascites and large primary tumor size were poor prognostic factors associated with survival.  相似文献

Background

The aim of this systematic review was to evaluate perioperative and long term outcomes in patients who underwent PVE prior to liver resection for colorectal liver metastases.

Methods

A systematic search of PubMed, MEDLINE, Embase and the Cochrane library was performed in accordance with PRISMA guidelines. Studies including patients who underwent liver resection with and without PVE (N-PVE) were included.

Results

Thirteen studies including 1345 were included of which 539 patients had PVE and 806 had N-PVE. Eight studies reported that from a total of 450 patients who underwent PVE, 136 (30%) did not proceed to liver resection. In 114 (84%) patients this was due to disease progression. The postoperative morbidity was 42% (n = 151) after PVE and 10% (n = 35) developed postoperative liver failure after liver resection. Median overall survival, reported in all studies, was 38.9 months and 45.6 months respectively, following resection with PVE and N-PVE. The median disease free survival, reported in eight studies, was 15.7 (PVE) and 21.4 (N-PVE) months respectively.

Conclusion

Following PVE 70% of patients proceed to liver resection, with a 10% risk of postoperative liver failure. Tumour progression after PVE was the predominant reason for not proceeding to liver resection.  相似文献

Background

Liver surgery for colorectal metastases (CLM) is moving toward parenchyma-sparing approaches. The authors reported the technical feasibility of parenchyma-sparing hepatectomy for deeply located tumors, but its impact on daily practice and long-term outcomes remain unclear.

Methods

The patients undergoing liver resection (LR) for CLM with vascular contact (first-/second-order pedicle or hepatic vein (HV) trunk) were considered. Those undergoing major hepatectomy were excluded. The authors' technique included tumor–vessel detachment, partial resection of marginally infiltrated HVs, and detection of communicating vessels (CVs) among HVs to preserve outflow after HV resection.

Results

Among 169 patients with major vascular contact, parenchyma-sparing LR was feasible in 146 (86%). Twenty-eight SERPS, 13 transversal hepatectomies, 6 mini-mesohepatectomies, and 4 liver tunnels were performed. Sixty-six (45%) patients underwent CLM–vessel detachment, 25 (17%) underwent partial HV resection, and 30 (21%) achieved outflow preservation by CV identification. The mortality and severe morbidity rates were 1.4% and 8.2%, respectively. The 5-year survival rate was 30.7%. The parenchyma-sparing strategy failed in 14 (7%) patients because of recurrence in the spared parenchyma or cut edge; 13 were radically retreated.

Conclusion

Ultrasound-guided parenchyma-sparing surgery is feasible in most patients with ill-located CLMs. This procedure is safe and achieves adequate oncologic outcomes.  相似文献

Background

The feasibility of the liver-first approach for synchronous colorectal liver metastases (CRLM) has been established. We sought to assess the short-term and long-term outcomes for these patients.

Methods

Outcomes of patients who underwent a liver-first approach for CRLM between 2005 and 2015 were retrospectively evaluated from a prospective database.

Results

Of the 92 patients planned to undergo the liver-first strategy, the paradigm could be completed in 76.1%. Patients with concurrent extrahepatic disease failed significantly more often in completing the protocol (67% versus 21%; p = 0.03). Postoperative morbidity and mortality were 31.5% and 3.3% following liver resection and 30.9% and 0% after colorectal surgery. Of the 70 patients in whom the paradigm was completed, 36 patients (51.4%) developed recurrent disease after a median interval of 20.9 months. The median overall survival on an intention-to-treat basis was 33.1 months (3- and 5-year overall survival: 48.5% and 33.1%). Patients who were not able to complete their therapeutic paradigm had a significantly worse overall outcome (p = 0.03).

Conclusion

The liver-first approach is feasible with acceptable perioperative morbidity and mortality rates. Despite the considerable overall-survival-benefit, recurrence rates remain high. Future research should focus on providing selection tools to enable the optimal treatment sequence for each patient with synchronous CRLM.  相似文献

Background

Resection margin status is an important prognostic factor in pancreatic cancer; however, the impact of positive resection margins in those who received neoadjuvant therapy remains unclear. The current study investigates the prognostic impact of resection margin status after neoadjuvant therapy and pancreaticoduodenectomy for patients with pancreatic adenocarcinoma.

Methods

Patients who underwent pancreaticoduodenectomy for pancreatic adenocarcinoma between 2006 and 2013 were identified from the National Cancer Database. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was utilized to examine the predictive value of neoadjuvant therapy for resection margin status. Long-term outcomes were compared using a Cox proportional hazards model.

Results

7917 patients were identified in total: 1077 (13.6%) and 6840 (86.4%) patients received neoadjuvant therapy and upfront surgery, respectively. Upfront surgery was independently predictive of a positive margin (25.7% vs. 17.7%; OR, 1.54) compared to neoadjuvant therapy. After receipt of neoadjuvant therapy, positive margins (median overall survival, 18.5 vs. 25.9 months; HR, 1.58) remained significantly associated with poor survival on multivariable analysis.

Discussion

While neoadjuvant therapy is associated with decreased R1/R2-resection rates after pancreaticoduodenectomy, the poor prognostic impact of positive margins is not abrogated by neoadjuvant therapy, stressing the need for complete tumor clearance and postoperative treatment even after neoadjuvant therapy.  相似文献

Background

Mesenterico-portal vein resection (PVR) during pancreatoduodenectomy for pancreatic head cancer was established in the 1990s and can be considered a routine procedure in specialized centers today. True histopathologic portal vein invasion is predictive of poor prognosis. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between mesenterico-portal venous tumor infiltration (PVI) and features of aggressive tumor biology.

Methods

Patients receiving PVR for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma of the pancreatic head were identified from a prospectively maintained database. Immunohistochemical staining of tumor tissue was performed for the markers of epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) E-Cadherin, Vimentin and beta-Catenin. Morphology of cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) was assessed as inactive or activated. Statistical calculations were performed with MedCalc software.

Results

In total, 41 patients could be included. Median overall survival was 25 months. PVI was found in 17 patients (41%) and was significantly associated with loss of membranous E-Cadherin in tumor buds (p = 0.020), increased Vimentin expression (p = 0.03), activated CAF morphology (p = 0.046) and margin positive resection (p = 0.005).

Conclusion

Our findings suggest that PVI is associated with aggressive tumor biology and disseminated growth less amenable to margin-negative resection.  相似文献

Background

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) has a devastatingly poor prognosis. Surgical resection is undertaken in only 20% of patients. Most of well-known prognostic factors reflect tumor stage more than its biology. So it is important to identify new biological indicators related to survival in order to develop new therapies.

Objective

To determine the relation between tumor budding and Epithelial Mesenchymal Transition (EMT) and to evaluate their impact on survival for patients after resection of PDAC.

Methods

We herein report a retrospective study of 50 patients with resected PDAC. Tumor budding, immunohistochemical expression of vimentin and other standard factors were correlated with survival using the Kaplan-Meier method and Cox multivariable survival analysis. For tumor budding assessment, an inter-observer variability study was performed using 100 images of tumor slides stained with Hematoxylin & Eosin and Pan-Cytokeratin.

Results

Tumor budding was present in all tumors. A substantial agreement between six pathologists was established in distinguishing high-grade from low-grade budding (κ = 0.6 and 0.73 for H&E and PCK images respectively). High-grade budding was identified in 56% of tumors (28/50). It was an adverse prognostic factor independent of tumor size, resection margins status, nodal status and vascular invasion (p = 0.008). Tumor budding was significantly associated with vimentin expression (p = 0.002).

Conclusions

The association of tumor budding with vimentin expression supported the idea that EMT is a key process in PDAC responsible for progression and drug resistance. Consequently, the elucidation of EMT molecular biology and development of new targeted therapy may improve disease outcome.  相似文献

Background

Biomarker testing can be helpful to monitor disease progression after resection of pancreatic cancer. This systematic review aims to give an overview of the literature on the diagnostic value of serum tumor markers for the detection of recurrent pancreatic cancer during follow-up.

Methods

A systematic search was performed to 2 October 2017. All studies reporting on the diagnostic value of postoperatively measured serum biomarkers for the detection of pancreatic cancer recurrence were included. Data on diagnostic accuracy of tumor markers were extracted. Forest plots and pooled values of sensitivity and specificity were calculated.

Results

Four articles described test results of CA 19-9. A pooled sensitivity and specificity of respectively 0.73 (95% CI 0.66–0.80) and 0.83 (95% CI 0.73–0.91) were calculated. One article reported on CEA, showing a sensitivity of 50% and specificity of 65%. No other serum tumor markers were discussed for surveillance purposes in the current literature.

Conclusion

Although testing of serum CA 19-9 has considerable limitations, CA 19-9 remains the most used serum tumor marker for surveillance after surgical resection of pancreatic cancer. Further studies are needed to assess the role of serum tumor marker testing in the detection of recurrent pancreatic cancer and to optimize surveillance strategies.  相似文献

Background

Malignant potential of small (≤20 mm) nonfunctional pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (sNF-PNET) is difficult to predict and management remain controversial. The aim of this study was to assess the prognosis of sporadic nonmetastatic sNF-PNETs.

Methods

Patients were identified from databases of 16 centers. Outcomes and risk factors for recurrence were identified by uni- and multivariate analyses.

Results

sNF-PNET was resected in 210 patients, and 66% (n = 138) were asymptomatic. Median age was 60 years, median tumor size was 15 mm, parenchyma-sparing surgery was performed in 42%. Postoperative mortality was 0.5% (n = 1), severe morbidity rate was 14.3% (n = 30), and 14 of 132 patients (10.6%) with harvested lymph nodes had metastatic lymph nodes. Tumor size, presence of biliary or pancreatic duct dilatation, and WHO grade 2–3 were independently associated with recurrence. Patients with tumors sized ≤10 mm were disease free at last follow-up. The 1-, 3- and 5-year disease-free survival rates for patients with tumors sized 11–20 mm on preoperative imaging were 95.1%, 91.0%, and 87.3%, respectively.

Conclusions

In sNF-PNETs, the presence of biliary or pancreatic duct dilatation or WHO grade 2–3 advocate for surgical treatment. In the remaining patients, a wait-and-see policy might be considered.  相似文献

Background

The aim of the current study was to assess outcomes following liver resection in metastatic CRC (mCRC) in South Australia across two study periods (pre-2006 versus post-2006).

Methods

The South Australian (SA) Clinical Registry for mCRC maintains data prospectively on all patients in SA with mCRC diagnosed from 01 February 2006. This data was linked with a prospectively collated database on liver resections for mCRC from 01/01/1992 to 01/02/2006. The primary end point was overall survival.

Results

757 patients underwent liver resection for mCRC. Liver resection was performed on 286 patients pre-2006 and 471 patients post-2006. The median age of the study population was 62 years, and this was similar across both eras. Overall survival was significantly better in the post-2006 era (hazard ratio HR = 0.45, p = 0.001). Complications (59% pre-2006 versus 23% post-2006) and transfusion rates (34% pre-2006 versus 2% post-2006) were significantly higher in the pre-2006 era. Repeat liver resection rates were significantly higher in the post-2006 era (1% pre-2006 versus 10% post-2006).

Conclusions

Outcomes following liver resection for mCRC have improved over time, with significantly better overall survival in the post-2006 era compared to pre-2006.  相似文献
