This work shows that an intravenous infusion of atropine increases the concentration of atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) in the plasma of healthy subjects. The effect is discussed in reference to the heart rate and the role of the autonomic nervous system in the control of ANP secretion by atrial cardiocytes.  相似文献

In the lymphocytes of 20 healthy subjects and 17 patients with chronic lymphatic leukaemia (CLL) the cAMP level was determined before and at different time periods during cell incubation with mitogens (phytohaemagglutinin--PHA, concanavalin A--Con A, and pokeweed mitogen PWM). The experiments demonstrated that PHA-induced lymphocyte proliferation was associated in healthy subjects during the first 10--20 minutes of incubation with a rise in the intracellular cAMP concentration, while the level of cAMP decreased systematically during 30 minutes of incubation with Con A and PWM. Incubation of lymphocytes of the patients with CLL during 30 minutes with PHA, Con A and PWM caused no changes in the low cAMP level in these cells. The obtained results suggest that PHA activation of lymphocytes in healthy subjects is connected with changes in the intracellular concentration of cAMP.  相似文献

Summary The acute effects of i.v. somatostatin (250 mcg bolus followed by 250 mcg/h continuous infusion for two hours) on renal hemodynamics, renal electrolyte and water handling, and urinary excretion of catecholamines and prostaglandins, as well as on plasma concentrations of arginine vasopressin, atrial natriuretic factor, norepinephrine, epinephrine, dopamine, glucagon, and plasma renin activity were studied in seven normal subjects. Somatostatin decreased effective renal plasma flow and glomerular filtration rate, osmotic and free water clearances, urine volume, and sodium and potassium excretion, while urinary osmolality, fractional excretion of sodium, and phosphate excretion increased significantly. Plasma concentrations of arginine vasopressin, atrial natriuretic factor, norepinephrine, epinephrine, and dopamine remained unchanged, while plasma renin activity (3.0±0.25 vs 2.4±0.2 ng AngI/ml/h;p}<0.01) and glucagon levels (40±11 vs 20±16 pg/ml;p}<0.01) decreased. Urinary excretion of norepinephrine, epinephrine, dopamine, PGE2, and PGF2alpha was suppressed under somatostatin. A significant positive correlation was found between urinary dopamine and sodium excretion (r=0.7;p}<0.001) and urinary postaglandin E2 and glomerular filtration (r=0.52;p}<0.01). Without accompanying changes in plasma osmolality and vasopressin concentration significant antidiuresis occurred, suggesting a direct tubular effect of somatostatin. However, the hormone-induced changes are due mainly to the decrease in renal plasma flow. In the present study, interleukin-6(IL-6) and several acute phase proteins were measured in healthy participants (23–87 years of age). A linear correlation between IL-6 and age was established with an increase of 0.016 pg/ml(00.004) per year of life. Whereas CRP remained below 0.5 mg/dl in all participants, an increase with age for fibrinogen and an inverse relation for albumin as well as transferrin were obtained. However, the increase of IL-6 did not correlate with any of these changes. IL-6 associated diseases may therefore occur more often with advancing age, but in healthy participants IL-6 does not explain the changing plasma protein pattern resembling that of an acute phase reaction.  相似文献

Agarose gel electrophoresis has been used in the study of serum lipoproteins in 224 presumably healthy subjects, mainly men. The application of the method for scanning and determination of serum lipoproteins has been evaluated. Pre-beta-lipoprotein was detected in all studied persons and made up from 10–60% of total lipoproteins. More than 40% pre-beta-lipoprotein in serum is suggested for the diagnosis of type IV hyperlipoproteinemia. Clinical conditions related to elevation of the pre-beta-lipoprotein in serum have been studied by automatic data processing using multiple regression analysis.  相似文献

The effect of short-term bilateral intracarotid infusions of hypertonic saline on plasma vasopressin concentration (pAVP) was evaluated in five dogs. Intracarotid infusion of saline at 90 mumol . kg-1 . min-1 . artery-1 significantly (P less than 0.05) increased jugular vein osmolality (pOsm) and sodium concentration (pNa+) within 2 min. Saphenous vein pOsm was not altered during the 6 min of infusion, whereas pNa+ was increased (P less than 0.05) from 0.8 +/- 0.1 to 2.3 +/- 0.3 pg/ml. Subsequent experiments using hypertonic saline infusions of 90 and 180 mumol . kg-1 . min-1 administered intracarotidly and intravenously for 6 min were performed. Intracarotid isotonic infusions and intravenous hypertonic infusions did not significantly alter pAVP. Hypertonic intracarotid saline increased jugular vein pOsm and pNa+ in a dose-related fashion, whereas saphenous vein pOsm and pNa+ were not significantly changed after 6 min of infusion. Plasma vasopressin, compared with the isotonic intracarotid infusion (1.5 +/- 0.3 pg/ml), was increased (P less than 0.05) after hypertonic saline to 3.2 +/- 0.6 and 4.8 +/- 0.2 pg/ml for the 90 and 180 mumol . kg-1 . min-1 infusions, respectively. The cerebral osmolality indicated by jugular vein pOsm was therefore increased in the absence of changes in systemic pOsm during intracarotid hypertonic infusions. The increase in pAVP in response to these changes in pOsm supports the presence of central osmoreceptors regulating vasopressin release in the area of distribution of the common carotid arteries.  相似文献

The sodium-dependency of both the saturable and non-saturable components of glucose and galactose absorption across the rat jejunum in vivo has been determined. The non-saturable process appears to be unaffected by sodium removal but when Na+ concentrations in the lumenal fluid are progressively reduced from 143 mM to 0 mM theJ max for active absorption is greatly decreased.In a separate study these two components of glucose transport were further investigated using intravenous sugar infusion to modify the transepithelial sugar concentration gradient. When identical glucose concentrations were present in plasma and intestinal lumen, the reduction in glucose absorption was fully accounted for by the elimination of the non-saturable component from the overall absorptive process. Together, these observations can be interpreted as further evidence for the existence of at least two absorption processes in vivo. The implication for analysing results from experimental studies of intestinal sugar absorption in vivo is discussed.  相似文献

In subjects who maintain a constant body mass, the increased energy expenditure induced by exercise must be compensated by a similar increase in energy intake. Since leptin has been shown to decrease food intake in animals, it can be expected that physical exercise would increase energy intake by lowering plasma leptin concentrations. This effect may be secondary either to exercise-induced negative energy balance or to other effects of exercise. To delineate the effects of moderate physical activity on plasma leptin concentrations, 11 healthy lean subjects (4 men, 7 women) were studied on three occasions over 3 days; in study 1 they consumed an isoenergetic diet (1.3 times resting energy expenditure) over 3 days with no physical activity; in study 2 the subjects received the same diet as in study 1, but they exercised twice daily during the 3 days (cycling at 60?W for 30?min); in study 3 the subjects exercised twice daily during the 3 days, and their energy intake was increased by 18% to cover the extra energy expenditure induced by the physical activity. Fasting plasma leptin concentration (measured on the morning of day 4) was unaltered by exercise [8.64 (SEM 2.22) 7.17 (SEM 1.66), 7.33 (SEM 1.72) 1μg?·?l?1 in studies 1, 2 and 3, respectively]. It was concluded that a moderate physical activity performed over a 3-day period does not alter plasma leptin concentrations, even when energy balance is slightly negative. This argues against a direct effect of physical exercise on plasma leptin concentrations, when body composition is unaltered.  相似文献

A decrease in the blood levels of cholestrol, phospholipids, and free fatty acids was observed in rats receiving the biguanide phenformin (5–25 mg daily by mouth) from the first to eighth day of pregnancy, but no developmental anomalies of the fetuses or placenta were found. Introduction

The study aimed to evaluate the relationship between plasma asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA) concentration and development of left ventricular diastolic dysfunction (LVDD) in patients with essential hypertension (EH). Moreover, an attempt was made to define independent risk factors of LVDD in patients with EH.

Material and methods

A group of 106 individuals with EH was obtained (mean age: 47.18 ±11.76 years). Two groups of patients were distinguished: group I – individuals with EH with LVDD (n = 57); group II – persons with EH without LVDD (n = 49). Echocardiographic examination was conducted by the transthoracic technique. High-performance liquid chromatography was used to measure dimethylarginine concentrations.

Results

In the group suffering from EH with LVDD, mean ADMA concentration was significantly higher and the ratio of arginine to ADMA was significantly lower than in patients with EH without LVDD. No significant differences were detected between mean concentrations of plasma symmetric dimethylarginine concentration (SDMA) and arginine or in arginine/SDMA ratios in the studied groups. Independent factors of LVDD risk in the study group included higher plasma ADMA concentration, higher serum low-density lipoprotein (LDL) concentration, higher values of body mass index (BMI), higher values of left ventricular mass index (LVMI) and higher values of mean blood pressure (mBP) (ORADMA = 1.731; ORLDL = 1.188; ORBMI = 1.056; ORLVMI = 1.062; ORmBP = 1.014; p < 0.05).

Conclusions

The results of this study showed that ADMA concentration may be of prognostic value in relation to manifestation of LVDD in patients with EH.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: The total level of alpha-tryptase and ss-tryptase in serum or plasma is used as a clinical indicator of the mast cell burden. OBJECTIVE: The effect of the tryptase haplotype and of sex on the total tryptase level of healthy individuals was determined. METHODS: A novel hot-stop PCR technique was used to determine the tryptase genotype, and a standard fluoroenzyme immunoassay was used to measure total plasma tryptase levels in 106 healthy subjects. Mx modeling and the QTL association routine of Mendel 5.0 were used to analyze the data. RESULTS: Tryptase haplotypes exhibit a 1 (betaalpha/betaalpha):2 (betabeta/betaalpha):1 (betabeta/betabeta) distribution, monomorphic for ss at 1 position and allelic for ss and alpha at the other position. The betaalpha haplotype has a frequency of 0.49. The betaalpha haplotype increases total tryptase levels by 0.5 ng/mL from the overall mean, whereas female sex increases the level by 0.2 ng/mL from the mean. CONCLUSION: The tryptase haplotype and sex each have a statistically significant effect on the total plasma tryptase level of healthy subjects.  相似文献
