The microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of medium carbon martensitic steel during the warm rolling and annealing process were studied by scanning electron microscope (SEM), electron back scattering diffraction (EBSD), and electronic universal testing machine. The results showed that the microstructure of ferrite matrix with mass dispersive cementite particles was obtained by decomposition of martensitic in medium-carbon martensitic steel after warm rolling. The grain size of ferrite was ~0.53 μm, the yield strength and tensile strength were 951 MPa and 968 MPa, respectively, and the total elongation rate was 11.5% after warm rolling at 600 °C. Additionally, after the next 4 h of annealing, the grain size of ferrite and particle size of cementite increased to ~1.35 μm and ~360 nm and the yield strength and tensile strength decreased to 600 MPa and 645 MPa, respectively, with a total elongation increases of 20.9%. The strength of the material increased with increasing strain rate in tension, and the yield-to-tensile strength ratio increased from 0.92 to 0.94 and maintained good plasticity.  相似文献

Achieving magnesium-rare earth alloys with excellent mechanical properties remains a challenging goal in the aerospace industry. The integrated extrusion and equal channel angular pressing were employed to refine grain and improve the mechanical properties of Mg-xNd-2.0Sm-0.4Zn-0.4Zr alloys. The effect of Nd element on microstructure and mechanical properties of the extruded and subsequently aged alloys were carried out by varying the amount of the Nd element from 0 wt.% to 2.5 wt.%. The optical microscopy results indicated that the grain size was remarkably refined by the addition of Nd element. The grain size decreased from 29.7 μm to 10.9 μm with increasing of the Nd element from 0 wt.% to 2.5 wt.%. The transmission electron microscopy results showed that the nano-scaled basal lamellar precipitates, prismatic lamellar precipitates and granular precipitates were formed in α-Mg matrix. The amount of the precipitates increased significantly by the addition of Nd. Moreover, the strength of the alloys significantly improved with Nd. Superior strength and considerable plasticity were obtained as the content of Nd element reached 2.0 wt.%, while the tensile strength of the Mg-2.0Nd-Sm-Zn-Zr alloy (315 ± 5 MPa) increased by 35.8% with respect to the Nd-free alloy (232 ± 3 MPa).  相似文献

In the present paper, the designed thermomechanical process was applied to prepare ferrite/bainite multiphase microstructures in Si-rich low-alloy steel with a carbon content of 0.33 wt.% (0.33C) and 0.21 wt.% (0.21C). The microstructures were analyzed by scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope, and electron backscatter diffraction, and the mechanical properties (tensile and impact properties) were tested. The results showed that, on the premise of obtaining 15 vol.% ferrite in both steels, the ferrite grains in the 0.33C steel were polygonal with an average grain size of 2.2 μm, recrystallized more completely. However, the ferrite grains in the 0.21C steel were mainly long strip-shaped with a width of 2–4 μm, and the recrystallization degree was poor. In addition, upon increasing the austempering temperature, bainite ferrite laths were formed in the 0.33C steel, and the thickness was in the range of 81–123 nm. The morphology of bainite ferrite in the 0.21C steel gradually changed from lath to granular. Upon increasing the austempering temperature, the tensile strength and yield strength of both steels increased and the elongation decreased slightly. The impact energy of the two steels showed different trends upon increasing the austempering temperature, in which the impact energy of the 0.33C steel increased, while that of the 0.21C steel decreased. This is due to the difference size of the martensite-austenite constituents in the two steels.  相似文献

The effects of niobium and composite strengthening on the phase transformation characteristics and precipitation behavior of continuous cooling transformation of high-strength rebar during thermal deformation and subsequent cooling were investigated. The results show that when the cooling rate was within 0.3–5 °C/s, ferrite transformation and pearlite transformation occurred in the experimental steels. The Nb content increased to 0.062 wt.%, and the starting temperature of the ferrite transformation decreased. Meanwhile, the ferrite phase transformation zone gradually expanded, and the pearlite phase transformation zone gradually narrowed with the increase in the cooling rate. When the cooling rate was 1 °C/s, bainite transformation began to occur, and the amount of transformation increased with the increase in the cooling rate. It was found that the main precipitates in the experimental steels were (Nb, Ti, V)C, with an average particle size of about 10–50 nm. When the Nb content was increased to 0.062 wt.% and the cooling rate was increased to 5 °C/s, the ferrite grain size was reduced from 19.5 to 7.5 μm, and the particle size of the precipitate (Nb, Ti, V)C could be effectively reduced. The strength of the steel was significantly improved, but the elongation of the steel was reduced. However, the comprehensive mechanical properties of 0.062 wt.% Nb experimental steel was significantly improved at a cooling rate of 5 °C/s.  相似文献

The medium carbon steel warm deformation was carried out in a Gleeble-3500 simulator, and the microstructure was observed on a scan electron microscopy (SEM) and optical microscope (OM). The results show that the dynamic reversal transformation (DRT) of austenite occurred during the multipass deformation at a temperature of 675 °C. The austenite grain size is about 3.4 μm at the stain of 2.67. The thermodynamics was discussed based on the stress activation model. The critical stress of DRT is in the range of 265.94–294.28 MPa, which is related to the Schmit factor, without considering the distortion energy. Meanwhile, the submicron ferrite was obtained after the air cooling stage. The texture of the ultrafine ferrite possessed the characteristics of good, deep drawing properties.  相似文献

The mechanical properties and deformation microstructure of cast 304 Cu-containing austenitic stainless steel at 10−3/s strain rate in the range of 700~1200 °C were studied by Gleeble thermal simulator, metallographic microscope and scanning electron microscope. The results showed that the thermoplasticity of 304 Cu-containing austenitic stainless steel was higher than 60% when the temperature was higher than 1000 °C, and the tensile strength as a whole decreased with the increase in temperature. During the tensile process, the morphology and content of ferrite in the test steel were the main factors affecting the high-temperature thermoplastic of the billet. The inclusions near the fracture and the existence of ferrite at the grain boundary greatly affected the formation of microcracks and holes and the fracture.  相似文献

The microstructure, precipitates, and austenite grain in high-strength low-alloy steel were characterized by optical microscope, transmission electron microscope, and laser scanning confocal microscopy to investigate the effect of Mo on the toughness of steel. The microstructure was refined and the toughness was enhanced after the addition of 0.07% Mo in steel. The addition of Mo can suppress the Widmanstätten ferrite (WF) formation and promote the transformation of acicular ferrite (AF), leading to the fine transformed products in the heat-affected zone (HAZ). The chemical composition of precipitates changed from Nb(C, N) to (Nb, Mo)(C, N) because of the addition of Mo. The calculated lattice misfit between Nb(C, N) and ferrite was approximately 11.39%, while it was reduced to 5.40% for (Nb, Mo)(C, N), which significantly affected the size and number density of precipitates. A detailed analysis of the precipitates focusing on the chemical composition, size, and number density has been undertaken to understand the contribution of Mo on the improvement of steel toughness.  相似文献

The high temperature brittleness range of medium carbon microalloyed steel under an actual continuous casting process was determined by the high temperature tensile test. The test results revealed that only a third of the brittle temperature range from 650–825 °C was due to intergranular ferrite in the experimental steel. In addition, it was found that the plastic recovery was fast and stable when the temperature was lower than 725 °C (the lowest plastic temperature). Bending/straightening operation in this temperature range was conducive to controlling the generation of corner cracks. In order to keep the corner temperature at the low temperature end of the plastic curve when the slab was bent/straightened, the cooling water scheme of the secondary cooling zone of the continuous caster was formulated by numerical calculation. By appropriately increasing the cooling water flow in the foot roll and the secondary cooling zones 1–5, the corner temperature of slab during bending operation was 600–700 °C, avoiding the brittle temperature range. The industrial test was then carried out. The results showed that after using the optimized water volume, the corner grains of the slab were uniform and the microstructure was mainly pearlite + ferrite. In addition, the abnormally large grain size was reduced, and a large amount of ferrite was generated inside the grain, which avoided stress concentration at the corner of the slab during bending/straightening operation, and basically eliminated the corner crack of the slab.  相似文献

In the present study, microstructural evolution and hardness of the friction stir processed (FSPed) SAF 2507 super duplex stainless steel fabricated at a rotational speed of 650 rpm and a traverse speed of 60 mm/min were investigated. A scanning electron microscope (SEM) equipped with an electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) detector was used to study the microstructure of the stir zone. The grain sizes of austenite and ferrite in the FSPed 2507 were found to be smaller (0.75 and 0.96 μm) than those of the substrate (6.6 and 5.6 μm) attributed to the occurrence of continuous dynamic recrystallization (CDRX) in both phases. Higher degree of grain refinement and DRX were obtained at the advancing side of the FSPed specimens due to higher strain and temperature. A non-uniform hardness distribution was observed along the longitudinal direction of the SZ. The maximum hardness was obtained at the bottom (407 HV1).  相似文献

The category and morphology of precipitates are essential factors in determining the mechanical behaviors of aluminum alloys. It is a great challenge to synthetically modulate multiple precipitates to simultaneously improve strength and ductility. In the present work, by optimizing the precipitations of the GP zone, θ’-approximant and θ’ phase for an Al-Cu-Mn alloy, a high tensile strength of 585 MPa with large elongation of 12.35% was achieved through pre-deformation and aging. The microstructure evolution pattern was revealed by detailed characterizations of scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. It was found that such high tensile strength of the samples was due to a combination of strengthening by the high density of dispersive fine precipitates and dislocations, and the high elongation to failure was primarily attributed to the multimodal precipitates and elimination of precipitation-free zones along the grain boundaries. The strategy proposed here is a promising way of preparing ultra-strong Al-Cu-Mn alloys.  相似文献

High-Mn lightweight steel, Fe-0.9C-29Mn-8Al, was manufactured using steelmaking, ingot-making, forging, and rolling processes. After the final rolling process, a typical austenite single phase was observed on all sides of the thick plate. The microstructural changes after annealing and aging heat-treatments were observed, using optical and transmission electron microscopy. The annealed coupon exhibited a typical austenite single phase, including annealing twins in several grains; the average grain size was 153 μm. After aging heat treatment, κ-carbide was observed within the grains and on the grain boundaries. Additionally, the effect of aging heat treatment on the mechanical properties was analyzed, using a tensile test. The fine κ-carbide that precipitated within the grains in the aged coupon improved the 0.2% offset yield and the tensile stresses, as compared to the as-annealed coupon. To estimate the applicability of high-Mn lightweight steel for low-pressure (LP) steam turbine blades, a low-cycle fatigue (LCF) test was carried out at room temperature. At a total strain amplitude of 0.5 to 1.2%, the LCF life of high-Mn lightweight steel was approximately three times that of 12% Cr steel, which is used in commercial LP steam turbine blades. The LCF behavior of high-Mn lightweight steel followed the Coffin–Manson equation. The LCF life enhancement in the high-Mn lightweight steel results from the planar dislocation gliding behavior.  相似文献

In the present paper, the Mg-11Gd-2Y-1Zn alloys with different Al addition were fabricated by the gravity permanent mold method. The effect of Al content on microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of as-cast Mg-11Gd-2Y-1Zn alloy was studied by metallographic microscope, scanning electron microscope, XRD and tensile testing. The experimental results showed that the microstructure of as-cast Mg-11Gd-2Y-1Zn alloy consisted of α-Mg phase and island-shaped Mg3 (RE, Zn) phase. When Al element was added, Al2RE phase and lamellar Mg12REZn (LPSO) phase were formed in the Mg-11Gd-2Y-1Zn alloy. With increasing Al content, LPSO phase and Mg3 (RE, Zn) phase gradually decreased, while Al2RE phase gradually increased. There were only α-Mg and Al2RE phases in the Mg-11Gd-2Y-1Zn-5Al alloy. With the increase of Al content, the grain size decreased firstly and then increased. When the Al content was 1 wt.%, the grain size of the alloy was the minimum value (28.9 μm). The ultimate tensile strength and elongation increased firstly and then decreased with increasing Al addition. And the fracture mode changed from intergranular fracture to transgranular fracture with increasing addition. When Al addition was 1 wt.%, the maximum ultimate tensile strength reached 225.6 MPa, and the elongation was 7.8%. When the content of Al element was 3 wt.%, the maximum elongation reached 10.2% and the ultimate tensile strength was 207.7 MPa.  相似文献

In this study, the carburization characteristics of cast and cold-rolled CoCrFeMnNi high-entropy alloys (HEAs) with various grain sizes were investigated. All specimens were prepared by vacuum carburization at 940 °C for 8 h. The carburized/diffused layer was mainly composed of face-centered cubic structures and Cr7C3 carbide precipitates. The carburized/diffused layer of the cold-rolled specimen with a fine grain size (~1 μm) was thicker (~400 μm) than that of the carburized cast specimen (~200 μm) with a coarse grain size (~1.1 mm). In all specimens, the carbides were formed primarily through grain boundaries, and their distribution varied with the grain sizes of the specimens. However, the carbide precipitates of the cast specimen were formed primarily at the grain boundaries and were unequally distributed in the specific grains. Owing to the non-uniform formation of carbides in the carburized cast specimen, the areas in the diffused layer exhibited various carbide densities and hardness distributions. Therefore, to improve the carburization efficiency of equiatomic CoCrFeMnNi HEAs, it is necessary to refine the grain sizes.  相似文献

Ductile-to-brittle transition (DBT) temperature and brittle fracture stress, σF, are important toughness criteria for structural materials. In this paper, low-carbon steels with an ultrafine elongated grain (UFEG) structure (transverse grain size 1.2 μm) and with two ferrite (α)-pearlite structure with grain sizes 10 µm and 18 µm were prepared. The UFEG steel was fabricated using multipass warm biaxial rolling. The tensile tests with a cylindrical specimen and three-point bending tests with a single-edge-notched specimen were performed at −196 °C. The local stress near the notch was quantitatively calculated via finite element analysis (FEA). The σF for each sample was quantified based on the experimental results and FEA. The relationship between σF and dα in the wide range of 1.0 μm to 138 μm was plotted, including data from past literature. Finally, the conditions of grain size and temperature that cause DBT fracture in low-carbon steel were shown via the stress−d−1/2 map. The results quantitatively showed the superiority of α grain size for brittle fracture.  相似文献

The plastic deformation processes and fracture behavior of a Ti–5Al–5Mo–5V–1Cr–1Fe alloy with bimodal and lamellar microstructures were studied by room-temperature tensile tests with in situ scanning electron microscopy (SEM) observations. The results indicate that a bimodal microstructure has a lower strength but higher ductility than a lamellar microstructure. For the bimodal microstructure, parallel, deep slip bands (SBs) are first noticed in the primary α (αp) phase lying at an angle of about 45° to the direction of the applied tension, while they are first observed in the coarse lath α (αL) phase or its interface at grain boundaries (GBs) for the lamellar microstructure. The β matrix undergoes larger plastic deformation than the αL phase in the bimodal microstructure before fracture. Microcracks are prone to nucleate at the αp/β interface and interconnect, finally causing the fracture of the bimodal microstructure. The plastic deformation is mainly restricted to within the coarse αL phase at GBs, which promotes the formation of microcracks and the intergranular fracture of the lamellar microstructure.  相似文献

A combination of droplet solidification tester and confocal laser scanning microscope was used to simulate subrapid solidification and secondary cooling process pertinent to the strip casting. The IF steel droplet had a delamination structure and the bottom part went through sub-rapid solidification. During secondary cooling, γ/α transformation mechanism belonged to interface-controlled massive transformation and the ferrite grains grew quickly. With the increase of cooling rate, the γ/α transformation temperature decreased and the incubation period and phase transformation duration reduced. The hardness showed a slight increase due to fine-grain strengthening. With coiling temperature increasing from 600 °C to 800 °C, the grain size became larger, precipitates became coarse, and defects in grain were recovered. The increasing demand for the lightweight production of advanced high-strength steel puts forward higher requirements for the quality of welded joint forming. The common CMT welding process has certain limitations and is difficult to meet the needs of lightweight manufacturing. In this study, the CMT + P welding technology was used to weld the DP980 dual-phase steel plate with 1.2 mm thickness. The ER120S-G welding wire was used as the filling material to conduct a 70° angle lap welding experiment. The effects of wire feeding speed (3 m/min~5 m/min) and welding speed (350 mm/min~600 mm/min) on the forming, microstructures, and mechanical properties of DP980 dual-phase steel welded joints were analyzed. The results show that the CMT + P welding process can produce lap weldments with good formability and properties. The welded joints can be divided into the weld zone, the HAZ, and the base metal zone, where the HAZ can be divided into the coarse-grained zone and the softened zone. The role of the elements Ni and Si is to promote the production of martensite and to increase the ferrite strength in welded joints. As the wire feeding speed increases, the grain size of the coarse grain zone in the HAZ increases from 31.90 μm to 50.93 μm; while the welding speed increases, the grain size of the coarse grain zone decreases from 45.48 μm to 35.73 μm. The average microhardness of the weld zone is 420 HV. In contrast, the average microhardness of the softening zone in HAZ is reduced to 250 HV. When the wire feeding speed is 4 m/min and the welding speed is 550 mm/min, the tensile properties of the weldment are optimal, its tensile strength can reach 973 MPa, and the tensile fracture is ductile fracture.  相似文献

The effects of Al deoxidation and Zr deoxidation on the microstructure and properties of sulfide stress corrosion resistant high-strength steel have been investigated. The feasibility of the Zr deoxidation instead of Al deoxidation was confirmed by the thermodynamic analysis of the deoxidation of various elements. The experimental results indicate that the average diameters of the inclusions in Al-Steel and Zr-Steel were 2.45 μm and 1.65 μm, respectively. The Al-Steel and Zr-Steel contained 22.38% and 68.77% inclusions per unit area, respectively, and the fraction of inclusions in the Al-Steel and Zr-Steel with diameters less than 2 μm was about 73.46% and 89.63%, respectively, indicating that the Zr deoxidation process could effectively refine inclusions and promote dispersion. The average diameters of austenite grain for the Al-Steel and Zr-Steel were about 9.1 μm and 8 μm, respectively. The fine particles in Zr-Steel could pin the austenite grain boundaries and clearly refine the grains. The average grain size of tempered martensite was 8.2 μm and 3.8 μm, respectively. The yield strength of the Al-Steel and Zr-Steel was 922 MPa and 939 MPa, respectively; the impact energy was 60 ± 6 J and 132 ± 6 J, respectively. Moreover, the fracture time of the NACE-A was from 28 h (Al-Steel) to 720 h (Zr-Steel) without fracture. The experimental steel deoxidized by Zr achieved a simultaneous improvement in strength, toughness and sulfide stress corrosion resistance, and the effect of inclusions on the fracture of the sulfide stress corrosion resistant high-strength steel can be explained by the Griffith theory.  相似文献

To study the heat-treatment process of a semi-solid copper alloy, a thixotropic back-extruded tin–bronze shaft sleeve was heat-treated at 630 °C, 660 °C, 690 °C and 720 °C for 1 h, respectively. Microstructure changes and mechanical properties under different solution temperatures of shaft sleeve were characterized using a metallographic microscope (OM), scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), hardness tester, and tensile tester. The results show that the tensile strength first increases and then decreases; the elongation decreases; and the Brinell hardness increases gradually with increasing solution temperature. When the solution treatment is at 690 °C, the tin–bronze shaft sleeve’s microstructure and comprehensive mechanical properties are the best. The shape factor is 0.75, the average grain size is 82.52 μm, the Brinell hardness is 122 HBW, the tensile strength is 437 MPa, and the elongation is 17.4%, which is 3.4 times higher than that before solution treatment.  相似文献

In the current work, mild steel used in shipbuilding applications was friction-stir-welded (FSWed) with the aim of investigating the microstructure and mechanical properties of the FSWed joints. Mild steel of 5 mm thickness was friction-stir-welded at a constant tool rotation rate of 500 rpm and two different welding speeds of 20 mm/min and 50 mm/min and 3° tool tilt angle. The microstructure of the joints was investigated using optical and scanning electron microscopes. Additionally, the grain structure and crystallographic texture of the nugget (NG) zone of the FSWed joints was investigated using electron backscattering diffraction (EBSD). Furthermore, the mechanical properties were investigated using both tensile testing and hardness testing. The microstructure of the low-welding-speed joint was found to consist of fine-grain ferrite and bainite (acicular ferrite) with an average grain size of 3 µm, which indicates that the temperature experienced above A1, where a ferrite and austenite mixture is formed, and upon cooling, the austenite transformed into bainite. The joint produced using high welding speed resulted in a microstructure consisting mainly of polygonal ferrite and pearlite. This could be due to the temperature far below A1 experienced during FSW. In terms of joint efficiency expressed in terms of relative ultimate tensile, the stress of the joint to the base material was found to be around 92% for the low-speed joint and 83% for the high-welding-speed joint. A reduction in welding was attributed to the microstructure, as well as the microtunnel defect formed near the advancing side of the joint. The tensile strain was preserved at 18% for low welding speed and increased to 24% for the high welding speed. This can be attributed to the NG zone microstructural constituents. In terms of crystallographic texture, it is dominated by a simple shear texture, with increased intensity achieved by increasing the welding speed. In both joints, the hardness was found to be significantly increased in the NG zone of the joints, with a greater increase in the case of the low-welding-speed joint. This hardness increase is mainly attributed to the fine-grained structure formed after FSW.  相似文献
