OBJECTIVE

To observe the effects of Fuxin decoction in rats with heart failure induced by doxorubicin injections.

METHODS

We employed a doxorubicin-induced heart failure model to investigate the effect of Fuxin decoction. Rats were orally administered with Fuxin decoction from 10 to 40 mg/kg. Organization structure changes were assessed by histology, circulating levels of oxidative stress-related biomarkers and inflammatory cytokines were detected via enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.

RESULTS

Administration of Fuxin decoction improved the growth retardation in doxorubicin hydrochloride injection rats. Cardiac involvement was alleviated by Fuxin decoction, as well as changes of congestion systemic circulation in this rat models. Furthermore, Fuxin decoction regulates immune responses and suppresses oxidation reaction in doxorubicin hydrochloride-induced rats.

CONCLUSION

Fuxin decoction might be an interesting candidate for congestive heart failure.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE

To assess the medication adherence reporting in clinical trials the field of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and the impact factors of medication adherence.

METHODS

Reviewed and evaluated were all randomized clinical trials in the field of TCM in treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus published in Chinese journals in 2012, in terms of their medication adherence, adherence measurement, and impacted factors of adherence.

RESULTS

Finally 124 studies were included. None studies reported the medication adherence. The factors impacting medication adherence couldn't be analyzed due to none reporting adherence.

CONCLUSION

Medication adherence reporting was poor in clinical trials in TCM research. Establishing standards for adherence assessment and reporting may be one of the important steps to improve the quality of clinical studies.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE

To investigate the antimicrobial activity, hemagglutination and phytotoxic activity of crude ethanolic and aqueous extracts of Seriphidium kurramense.

METHODS

The extracts were analyzed by agar well diffusion assays against five bacterial species: Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus), methicillin-resistant S. aureus, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Bacillus subtilis, and Salmonella typhi. The extracts were also screened against six fungal species — Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus flavus, Alternaria solani, Rhizoctonia solani, Fusarium solani and Pleurotus florida — using the agar tube diffusion method. Additionally, hemagglutination and phytotoxic activities of the crude ethanolic and aqueous extracts were assessed.

RESULTS

The crude ethanolic and aqueous extracts showed dose-dependent inhibition of the various tested fungal and bacterial strains. No hemagglutination activity was observed. Both the ethanolic and aqueous extracts showed dose-dependent phytotoxic activity toward Lemna minor.

CONCLUSION

The crude ethanolic and aqueous extracts of Seriphidium kurramense possess good antimicrobial and phytotoxic activities, but no hemagglutination activity.  相似文献

Objective The changes in serum adipokines and cytokines related to oxidative stress were examined during 3 months ‘Off to On' and ‘On to Off' periods using negatively charged particle-dominant indoor air conditions(NCPDIAC).Methods Seven volunteers participated in the study,which included ‘OFF to 3 months ON' periods(ON trials) for a total of 16 times,and ‘ON to 3 months OFF'(OFF trials) periods for a total of 13 times.Results With the exception of one case,serum amyloid A(SAA) levels decreased significantly during the ON trials.Conclusion Considering that SAA is an acute phase reactive protein such as C reactive protein(CRP),this observed decrease might indicate the prevention of cardiovascular and atherosclerotic changes,since an increase in high-sensitive CRP is associated with the subsequent detection of these events.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE

To assess the antioxidant capacity of aqueous extracts of buds and flowers of Lonicera japonica Thunb. (BLJ and FLJ) using in vitro assays.

METHODS

We assessed the in vitro antioxidant activities of aqueous extracts of BLJ and FLJ and compared with that of classical antioxidants vitamin C and butylated hydroxytoluene, using several well-established methods including the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl-hydrazyl assay, 2,2'-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) assay, reducing power assay, fluorescence recovery after photo-bleaching assay, β-carotene bleaching assay, ferric thiocyanate assay, and thiobarbituric acid method.

RESULTS

The aqueous extracts of both BLJ and FLJ had similarly potent antioxidant capacity. There were no significance differences between BLJ and FLJ in all the assays.

CONCLUSION

The aqueous extracts of both BLJ and FLJ have antioxidant activity with comparable efficacy. These findings suggest that both BLJ and FLJ may have the potential as natural antioxidants.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE

To evaluate the application of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Four-diagnostic Auxiliary Apparatus in disease diagnosis.

METHODS

The liver cancer patients and healthy controls were recruited from Shanghai Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine Hospital and Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, respectively. Then, the included subjects were diagnosed by the Four-diagnostic auxiliary apparatus.

RESULTS

Thirty liver cancer patients and 30 paired healthy controls were enrolled in this study. Based on the apparatus, the pulse wave velocity was significantly higher in patients compared with controls (P < 0.05). The number of patients with purple tongue and ecchymosis were more than controls (P < 0.05). The number of patients (10%) with yellow tongue coating were higher than the controls (0%). Patients were inclined to be with water type and fire type constitution.

CONCLUSION

TCM Four-diagnostic auxiliary apparatus can be applied in clinical diagnosis of body constitution and health status of subjects. It promotes the accuracy and speed for disease diagnosis and TCM standardization.  相似文献

Objective

To investigate the neural differentiation capacity of water extraction of velvet antler.

Methods

Velvet antler (Cervus Nippon Temminck) polypeptide (VAP) was used to differentiate neural stem cells (NSCs) towards neurons in the study. Firstly, we obtain the polypeptides of VAP by water extraction. Secondly, we observed the morphology, assayed the factors in the media by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, and detected the special neural molecules by immunofluorescence staining. NSCs were cultured on the cell climbing film. After neuronal differentiation, differentiated NSCs were mounted for immunocytochemistry with immunofluorescence technique.

Results

The differentiating cells look like neuron, some special factors, such as Glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor, nerve growth factor, in the media can be detected while differentiated neuron -like cells can express the special neural molecules.

Conclusion

Differentiation of NSCs towards neurons can be induced by velvet antler polypeptide.  相似文献

Objective

To use the theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to identify the major symptom patterns of Parkinson's disease.

Methods

Journal databases were searched for relevant articles in the last 30 years. Articles were reviewed for symptom patterns of Parkinson's disease and analyzed using frequency analysis, cluster analysis, and other methods of data extraction.

Results

The analyses indicated that the most frequent symptom patterns of Parkinson's disease are yin deficiency of kidney and liver, deficiency of Qi and blood, phlegm heat and wind stirring, blood stasis and wind stirring, and deficiency of yin and yang.

Conclusion

Taken together, the analyses identified the primary symptom patterns of Parkinson's disease as Yin deficiency of kidney and liver, deficiency of Qi and blood, phlegm heat and wind stirring, and blood stasis and wind stirring.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE

To investigate the effect of brain functional recovery decoction (BFRD) on expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and angiopoietin-1 (Ang-1) protein in rats with cerebral ischemia reperfusion injury, and to explore the mechanism of action of BFRD.

METHODS

Using the suture-occlusion method, a Wistar rat model of focal cerebral ischemia reperfusion was established. The rats were randomly divided into treatment group, model group, and sham operation group. The treatment group was administered BFRD. In situ hybridization was used to detect VEGF mRNA expression. Immunohistochemistry was used to observe expression of Ang-1 protein.

RESULTS

VEGF mRNA expression was greater in the model group compared with the sham operation group (P < 0.05); Ang-1 protein expression was more obvious in the treatment group than the model group (P< 0.05).

CONCLUSION

BFRD promoted VEGF mRNA and Ang-1 protein expression in the brains of rats with cerebral ischemia, suggesting increased angiogenesis.  相似文献

Objective

To evaluate the effects of baicalin in human gastric cancer cells, including apoptosis-inducing effects, and to investigate its underlying mechanisms of action.

Methods

Cell proliferation and apoptosis assays were performed to investigate the anti-proliferation effects of baicalin in human gastric cancer BGC-823 and MGC-803 cells. Real time-quantitative polymerase chain reaction and Western blotting analysis were performed to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying the anti-tumor properties of baicalin.

Results

In BGC-823 and MGC-803 gastric cancer cells treated with 80, 120, and 160 µmol/L baicalin for 48 h, a 3-(4,5-dimethyl-2-thiazolyl)-2,5-diphenyl-2-H-tetrazolium bromide assay showed that baicalin significantly inhibited cell proliferation in a dose-dependent manner, while flow cytometric analysis demonstrated that baicalin could induce apoptosis, also in a dose-dependent manner. Moreover, baicalin up-regulated the expression of caspase-3, caspase-9, and B cell lymphoma (Bcl-2)-associated X protein and down-regulated the expression of Bcl-2 at both the mRNA and protein level.

Conclusion

Baicalin has potential as a therapeutic agent for gastric cancer by inducing apoptosis in cancer cells.  相似文献

Objective

To establish a domestic database of Enterobacteria cloacae (E. cloacae), and improve the identification efficiency using peptide mass fingerprinting.

Methods

Peptide mass fingerprinting was used for the identification and subtyping of E. cloacae. Eighty-seven strains, identified based on hsp60 genotyping, were used to construct and evaluate a new reference database.

Results

Compared with the original reference database, the identification efficiency and accuracy of the new reference database was greatly improved at the species level. The first super reference database for E. cloacae identification was also constructed and evaluated. Based on the super reference database and the main spectra projection dendrogram, E. cloacae strains were divided into two clades.

Conclusion

Peptide mass fingerprinting is a powerful method to identify and subtype E. cloacae, and the use of this method will allow us to obtain more information to understand the heterogeneous organism E. cloacae.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE

To explore the features of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) syndromes in male infertility using computer-based analyses.

METHODS

Latent class analysis was used to analyze the TCM syndrome data from 813 patients with male infertility and establish a latent tree model.

RESULTS

A latent tree model with a Bayesian information criterion score of – 11 263 was created. This model revealed that the characteristics of basic TCM syndromes in patients with male infertility were kidney Yang deficiency, kidney Qi deficiency, spleen Yang deficiency, liver Qi stagnation, Qi stagnation and blood stasis, and dump-heat; moreover, most patients with male infertility had complex syndromes (spleen-kidney Yang deficiency and liver Qi stagnation) rather than simple single syndromes.

CONCLUSION

The hidden tree model analysis revealed the objective and quantitative complex relationships between the TCM symptoms of male infertility, and obtained the quantification and objective evidence of TCM syndromes in male infertility.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE

To investigate the effects of Tongxinluo superfine powder on cardiac function, infarct size and the number of myocardial capillaries in a rabbit model of acute myocardial infarction.

METHODS

A total of 32 New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divided into four groups: sham operation group, model group, treatment group, and pre-treatment, the experiment of pre-treatment group was performed 6 weeks early than the treat) group, The four groups use a unified modeling technique. An acute myocardial infarction model was established through external application of 70% ferric chloride on the coronary artery. After 7 d, electrocardiogram, ultrasonography of cardiac function, micro-computed tomography, pathology and other data were collected.

RESULTS

In the treatment and pre-treatment groups, ejection fraction, left ventricular short axis shortening rate, left ventricular end-systolic diameter and cardiac output significantly improved, the number of capillaries significantly increased, and infarct size significantly decreased. In addition, the results suggest that the value of intra-ventricular pressure and the situation of electrocardiogram also changed to different degrees with the increasing of treatment of cycle.

CONCLUSION

Tongxinluo superfine powder can protect the myocardium, improve the blood supply of the myocardium and reduce the degree of myocardial injury, during acute stage of myocardial infarction.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE

To investigate the inhibitory effect of Sumu (Lignum Sappan) plus Fuzi (Radix Aconiti Lateralis Praeparata) (SF) on the growth and metastasis of Lewis lung carcinoma.

METHODS

A lung carcinoma model was established by subcutaneously inoculating Lewis lung carcinoma cells into C57BL/6 mice. The mice were randomly divided into four groups of 13 mice (control, low-dose, moderate-dose, and high-dose), and gavaged once-daily for 21 consecutive days. The rates of tumor inhibition, metastasis, and metastasis inhibition were observed. The differential expressions of sP-selectin and vascular endothelial growth factor C (VEGFC) were compared between the treatment groups and the control group.

RESULTS

The tumor weights differed significantly between the treatment groups and the control group (P < 0.05). Administration of SF in the moderate-dosage and low-dose groups significantly inhibited the expression of sP-selectin and VEGFC (both P < 0.05), suggesting anti-tumor activity.

CONCLUSION

SF can inhibit the growth and metastasis of Lewis lung carcinoma.  相似文献

Objective

To evaluate the in vivo antiplasmodial activity and the oral acute toxicity of the Bombax buonopozense root bark aqueous extract.

Methods

The in vivo antiplasmodial activity of the root bark aqueous extract of Bombax buonopozense against early and established rodent malaria infections in chloroquine sensitive Plasmodium berghei strain in mice was investigated, and oral acute toxicity of the aqueous root bark extract of Bombax buonopozense was also evaluated in mice.

Results

The findings of this study revealed significant (P < 0.05) and dose dependent decrease in parasitaemia in the parasitized groups treated with varying doses of the extract (50–200 mg/kg p.o.) in both suppressive and curative tests. There was also significant decrease in parasitaemia density in the chloroquine treated group. The aqueous extract was found no toxicity in mice and the oral LD50 was determined to be greater than 5000 mg/kg.

Conclusion

Bombax buonopozense root bark aqueous extract possesses potent antiplasmodial activity and may therefore, serve as potential sources of new antimalarial agents.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE

To investigate whether the Tan II A could improve the distribution and anti-tumor efficacy of Pegylated Liposomal Doxorubicin (PLD) via normalizing the structure and function of vasculature in Hepa1-6 hepatoma mice model.

METHODS

Hepa1-6 hepatoma-bearing mice were treated with Tan II A for 14 d. Distribution and anti-tumor efficacy of PLD, and the structure and function of the tumor vasculature were evaluated using various techniques.

RESULTS

Tan II A significantly reduced the micro-vessel density (MVD). After Tan II A treatment, the tumor vascular walls were better structured, as the increased coverage of the pericytes and the promoted contact of the basement membrane and endothelial cell. Functional tests showed that tumor hypoxia was improved and the exudation amount of Evans blue in the parenchyma of the tumor decreased. In addition, mice treated with Tan II A had greater PLD penetration distance intratumorally. Furthermore, combined therapy of Tan II A and PLD significantly inhibited tumor growth.

CONCLUSION

This study suggests that Tan II A helps normalizing the tumor vasculature and has therapeutic potential in increasing the distribution of chemotherapy drug in the tumor.  相似文献

Objective To investigate the effects of YOD1 overexpression on the proliferation and migration of human oral keratinocytes(HOKs), and to clarify whether the mechanisms involve transforming growth factor-β(TGF-β) signaling. Methods HOKs were transfected with the plasmid p EGFP-N3-YOD1 containing YOD1. The mR NA levels of YOD1 and TGF-β were determined by q PCR. The protein expressions of YOD1, TGF-β, Smad2/3, Smad4, and phospho-Smad2/3 were determined by western blotting. Cell proliferation and migration were evaluated by Cell Counting Kit-8 assay and wound healing assay, respectively. Results The m RNA and protein levels of YOD1 were higher in HOKs transfected with YOD1. YOD1 overexpression significantly enhanced the migration of HOKs. The mR NA and protein levels of TGF-β3 were increased by YOD1 overexpression. HOKs transfected with YOD1 exhibited increased phospho-Smad2/3 levels. Conclusion YOD1 overexpression enhances cell migration by promoting TGF-β3 signaling which may play an important role in lip and palate formation. YOD1 mutation may contribute to aberrant TGF-β3 signaling associated with decreased cell migration resulting in NSCLP.  相似文献

Objective

To investigate the effect of Sharbat-e-Deenar (SD) on acetaminophen (APAP)-induced hepatotoxicity in rat model.

Methods

Albino rats were treated with SD at the doses of 1, 2 and 4 mL/kg, p.o. against hepatotoxicity after APAP (2 g/kg, p.o. once only) intoxication. The blood, tissue biochemical parameters and histopathological observation were performed. The

Results

APAP exposure in rats significantly increased the level of biochemical parameters such as aspartate aminotransaminase, alanine aminotransaminase, lactate dehydrogenase, serum alkaline phosphatase, bilirubin, urea and creatinine into blood circulation which were reversed towards normal by SD therapy at all doses. The tissue biochemical parameters such as lipid peroxidation, reduced glutathione, adenosine tri-phosphatase and glucose-6-phosphatase were significantly restored after SD treatment against hepatotoxity. Histological analysis confirmed that SD-treated rats significantly alleviated of liver damage and reduced lesions caused by APAP intoxication. The biochemical changes are in good correlation with the histopathological observations.

Conclusion

On the basis of these results, it can be concluded that SD exerts hepatoprotective activity against APAP-induced liver injury.  相似文献

Objective

To identify the constituents in Shuanghuanglian injection (SHLI) that correlate with anaphylactoid reaction.

Methods

Chemical fingerprints of 10 batches SHLI samples were determined by High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), and further investigated by similarity analysis. Combined with optical microscopy, both anaphylactoid experiments and confirmatory assay were displayed in Rat basophil leukemia cells (RBL-2H3) to obtain the histamine release inducing by SHLI. The content of histamine was tested by Enzyme-Linked Immuno Sorbent Assay method. Partial least squares regression (PLSR) method and HPLC-DAD-ESI-MSn technology were conducted to analyze constituents in SHLI involving anaphylactoid reaction.

Results

The results of spectrum and effect relationships showed that the eight constituents were positively correlated with anaphylactoid reaction. Among which, nearly 90% of them were identified as baicalin and rutin with PLSR and HPLC-DAD-ESI-MSn. This result was in accordance with confirmatory assay on RBL-2H3 cells.

Conclusion

Baicalin and rutin from SHLI were the main constituents involving anaphylactoid reaction.  相似文献
