The effect of Cu addition and the intercritical annealing (IA) temperature on the microstructural evolution and mechanical properties of Fe-0.4C-7Mn-4Al (wt%) was investigated via scanning electron microscopy (SEM), electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and nanoindentation tests. The results showed that the volume fraction and the average grain size of austenite, and the fraction of high angle grain boundaries, increased with IA temperature increase in the range of 650 °C to 710 °C. The addition of Cu facilitates the formation of Cu-rich nanoparticles, raises the volume fraction of austenite, and delays the recrystallization of austenite. As IA temperature increased, the yield strength (YS), ultimate tensile strength (UTS), and Lüders bands strain (LBS) decreased in both experimental steels. The Cu addition not only increases the YS of medium Mn steel but also benefits the decrease of LBS. The best comprehensive mechanical properties were obtained at the IA temperature of 690 °C in the studied steel, with Cu addition. According to nanoindentation experiments, the Cu addition raises the hardness of ferrite and austenite from 4.7 GPa to 6.3 GPa and 7.4 GPa to 8.5 GPa, respectively, contributing to the increase of YS of medium-Mn steel.  相似文献

The effect of intercritical tempering temperature (TT) on the microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of 3.6Mn medium manganese steel, which contained martensite and austenite, was investigated by X-ray diffraction, electron backscattering diffraction and transmission electron microscopy, as well as Thermo-Calc calculation. The results showed that the volume fraction of reversed austenite (RA) increased firstly and then decreased with the increasing TT in the range of 550~650 °C. When the TT was below 620 °C, lath-like RA with good stability was mainly displayed between martensite laths and its size is about 100 nm. When the TT was higher than 650 °C, larger-size and block RA was formed in the martensite block boundaries, and part of the RA transformed into fresh martensite during cooling. The yield strength and tensile strength of the experimental steels decreased gradually as the TT increased, but the tensile strength increased gradually with the formation of block RA and fresh martensite. Lath-like RA could significantly improve the toughness and plasticity with slight loss of yield strength, but block RA decreased slightly them.  相似文献

Steel designs with superior mechanical properties have been urgently needed in automotive industries to achieve energy conservation, increase safety, and decrease weight. In this study, the aging process is employed to enhance the yield strength (YS) by tailoring the distribution of V-rich precipitates and to improve ductility by producing high volume fractions of recrystallized ferrite in cold-rolled medium-Mn steel. A reliable method to acquire ultra-high strength (1.0–1.5 GPa), together with ductility (>40%), is proposed via utilizing non-recrystallized austenite and recrystallized ferrite. Similarly to conventional medium-Mn steels, the TRIP effect, along with the mild TWIP effect, is responsible for the main deformation mechanisms during tensile testing. However, the coupled influence of precipitation strengthening, grain refinement strengthening, and dislocation strengthening contributes to an increase in YS. The studied steel, aged at 650 °C for 5 h, demonstrates a YS of 1078 MPa, ultimate tensile strength (UTS) of 1438 MPa, and tensile elongation (TE) of 30%. The studied steel aged at 650 °C for 10 h shows a UTS of 1306 MPa and TE of 42%, resulting in the best product in terms of of UTS and TE, at 55 GPa·%. Such a value surpasses that of the previously reported medium-Mn steels containing equal mass fractions of various microalloying elements.  相似文献

The influence of tempering temperature on the microstructure of 0.5Cr0.4W steels was investigated by scanning electron microscope, and the roles of grain boundary character, dislocation, and Taylor factor in sulfide stress cracking (SSC) resistance were interpreted using the election backscattered diffraction technique. The 0.5Cr0.4W steels tempered at 690 °C, 700 °C, and 715 °C all showed tempered martensites. The specimen tempered at 715 °C exhibited a higher critical stress intensity factor (KISSC) of 34.58 MPa·m0.5, but the yield strength of 800 MPa did not meet the criterion of 125 ksi (862 MPa) grade. When the specimen was tempered at 690 °C, the yield strength reached 960 MPa and the KISSC was only 21.36 MPa·m0.5, displaying poorer SSC resistance. The 0.5Cr0.4W steel tempered at 700 °C showed a good combination of yield strength (887 MPa) and SSC resistance (KISSC: 31.16 MPa·m0.5). When increasing the tempering temperature, the local average misorientation and Taylor factor of the 0.5Cr0.4W steels were decreased. The reduced dislocation density, and greater number of grains amenable to slippage, produced less hydrogen transport and a lower crack sensitivity. The SSC resistance was, thus, increased, owing to the minor damage to hydrogen aggregation. Therefore, 700 °C is a suitable tempering temperature for 0.5Cr0.4W casing steel.  相似文献

In this paper, the microstructure and mechanical properties of heavy-wall seamless bend pipe after quenching at different tempering temperatures, including 550 °C, 600 °C, 650 °C, and 700 °C, were studied. Microstructure and dislocations observations were characterized by means of an optical microscope, a scanning electron microscope, a transmission electron microscope, and X-ray diffraction. As the tempering temperature increases, the dislocation density in the test steel gradually decreases, and the precipitation behavior of (Nb, V)(C, N) increases. The sample tempered at 650 °C exhibits a granular bainite structure with a dislocation cell structure and a large number of smaller precipitates. The yield platforms of tempered samples at 650 °C and 700 °C are attributed to the pinning effect of the Cottrell atmosphere on dislocations. The sample tempered at 650 °C not only presents the highest strength, but also the highest uniform elongation, which is attributed to the higher strain-hardening rate and instantaneous work-hardening index. This is closely related to the multiplication of dislocations, the interaction between dislocations and dislocations, and the interaction between dislocations and precipitates during plastic deformation of the 650 °C-tempered samples with low dislocation density, which delays the occurrence of necking.  相似文献

Changes in the microstructure and selected mechanical properties of two-phase ferritic-austenitic cast steel containing 24% Cr-5% Ni-2.5% Mo-2.5% Cu after isothermal holding at 750 °C and 900 °C are presented. The choice of the two temperatures of isothermal holding was dictated by the precipitation of brittle phases within a range of 600 °C–950 °C, while the holding time depended on the casting cooling time in the mould. Changes in the microstructure were studied by the SEM-EDS and XRD techniques. As a result of the decomposition of the eutectoid ferrite, a σ phase that was rich in Cr, Mo, and Ni and a secondary γ2 austenite with Widmannstätten morphology were formed. Compared to the austenite, the chemical composition of the secondary γ2 austenite showed depletion of Cr and Mo. In the ferrite, the presence of Cr2N nitrides was also detected. After a holding time of 3 h at 900 °C, these phases increased the hardness of the tested cast steel to approximately 275 HV10. At the same time, the UTS value was recorded to decrease with the increasing temperature based on the tensile test results. At 750 °C, the value of UTS was 250 MPa for 1 h of holding and 345 MPa for 3 h of holding. These values decreased after increasing the temperature to 900 °C and amounted to 139 for 1 h holding and 127 MPa for 3 h holding. It was also found that the elongation values at 750 °C ranged from 7–10%, while they amounted to 35–37% at 900 °C. A fracture analysis of the tested cast steel showed that in the prevailing part, the fractures were made of ductile nature with an arrangement of dimples that is typical for this type of fracture. Non-metallic inclusions that are typical for cast steel (i.e., oxides and nitrides) were also found in the area of the fractures.  相似文献

AISI H13 die steel specimens were subjected to heating at 1020 °C followed by oil quenching and double tempering at 520 °C. Subsequently, these specimens were subjected to deep cryogenic treatment at −185 °C in liquid nitrogen environment for 16 h and then subjected to soft tempering at 100 °C once the specimens attained room temperature. Thereafter, the specimens were subjected to scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis and electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) analysis. The electrochemical corrosion activity was investigated in 3.5% NaCl at 23 ± 0.5 °C by evaluating the evolution of open circuit potential over time and potentiodynamic curves, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy study was also carried out. The heat-treated specimens exhibited better resistance to corrosion through more electropositive values of open circuit potential. This could be attributed to lower grain boundary area in heat-treated specimens as compared to 16 h cryogenically treated specimen as higher grain boundary areas behave as an anode in an electrochemical cell, thereby enhancing the rate of corrosion. According to electrochemical tests, the cryogenically treated surface is more resistant to corrosion, followed by heated alloy. However, both surface modification treatments improved the corrosion behavior of the untreated alloy.  相似文献

Weld and base metals require hot or cold working during the steel equipment manufacturing process. As a result, the components should be subjected to a normalizing heat treatment in order to recover their mechanical properties. In this study, the submerged-arc welding of the high strength low alloy (HSLA) thick steel plate(13MnNiMoR) is adapted for the vessel head under the normalizing and tempering heat treatment. The findings showed that the material toughness decreases after heating to simulate a vessel head forming process. The stamping process is carried out under the conditions of 980 °C for one hour, normalizing at 920 °C for 1 h and tempering between 600–660 °C for 2 h, respectively. The martensite-austenite (M-A) constituent is distributed in granular bainite and the boundary of austenite in island constituent. Therefore, it was deemed to be the most detrimental to Charpy-V impact toughness. Between normalizing and tempering, intercritical normalizing at 740 °C was added. As a result of the ferrite with fine particles M-A constituent, the toughness increases significantly.  相似文献

X6CrNiMoVNb11-2 supermartensitic stainless steel, a special type of stainless steel, is commonly used in the production of gas turbine discs in liquid rocket engines and compressor disks in aero engines. By optimizing the parameters of the heat-treatment process, its mechanical properties are specially adjusted to meet the performance requirement in that particular practical application during the advanced composite casting-rolling forming process. The relationship between the microstructure and mechanical properties after quenching from 1040 °C and tempering at 300–670 °C was studied, where the yield strength, tensile strength, elongation and impact toughness under different cooling conditions are obtained by means of mechanical property tests. A certain amount of high-density nanophase precipitation is found in the martensite phase transformation through the heat treatment involved in the quenching and tempering processes, where M23C6 carbides are dispersed in lamellar martensite, with the close-packed Ni3Mo and Ni3Nb phases of high-density co-lattice nanocrystalline precipitation created during the tempering process. The ideal process parameters are to quench at 1040 °C in an oil-cooling medium and to temper at 650 °C by air-cooling; final hardness is averaged about 313 HV, with an elongation of 17.9%, the cross-area reduction ratio is 52%, and the impact toughness is about 65 J, respectively. Moreover, the tempered hardness equation, considering various tempering temperatures, is precisely fitted. This investigation helps us to better understand the strengthening mechanism and performance controlling scheme of martensite stainless steel during the cast-rolling forming process in future applications.  相似文献

The microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of medium carbon martensitic steel during the warm rolling and annealing process were studied by scanning electron microscope (SEM), electron back scattering diffraction (EBSD), and electronic universal testing machine. The results showed that the microstructure of ferrite matrix with mass dispersive cementite particles was obtained by decomposition of martensitic in medium-carbon martensitic steel after warm rolling. The grain size of ferrite was ~0.53 μm, the yield strength and tensile strength were 951 MPa and 968 MPa, respectively, and the total elongation rate was 11.5% after warm rolling at 600 °C. Additionally, after the next 4 h of annealing, the grain size of ferrite and particle size of cementite increased to ~1.35 μm and ~360 nm and the yield strength and tensile strength decreased to 600 MPa and 645 MPa, respectively, with a total elongation increases of 20.9%. The strength of the material increased with increasing strain rate in tension, and the yield-to-tensile strength ratio increased from 0.92 to 0.94 and maintained good plasticity.  相似文献

In this paper, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray stress meter (XRSA), atom probe tomography (APT), hardness, and tensile tests were used to study the effect of tempering temperature on the microstructure and properties of Fe-9Ni-2Cu steel. The results show that after the quenched samples were tempered at 460 °C for 2 h, the hardness values increased from 373 to 397 HV, and elongation also increased from 13% to 16%. With the tempering temperature increasing from 460 to 660 °C, the hardness firstly decreases from 397 to 353 HV and then increases to 377 HV, while the elongation increases to 17% and then decreases to 11%. The variation of the mechanical properties greatly depends on the evolution of the Cu-rich phase and carbides. The precipitation strengthening of the Cu-rich phase and carbides leads to the increase of hardness, but when the precipitate is coarsened, the precipitation strengthening weakens, and then, the hardness increases. When the tempering temperature is 560 °C, a large amount of stable reverse transformation austenite was formed with a content of 7.1%, while the tensile strength reached the lowest value of 1022 MPa and the elongation reached the maximum value of 17%.  相似文献

Intergranular corrosion is one of the most important processes affecting the behaviour of austenitic stainless steels. Factors such as steel chemical composition, the degree of prior deformation and the exposure temperature affect the degree of sensitisation. AISI 316L (0% CW) steel was annealed at 650 °C for 5, 10, 30, 100, 300 and 1000 h to analyse the influence of isothermal annealing on the precipitation of secondary phases. AISI 316L steel after 40% cold working and subsequent annealing at 650 °C for 1, 1.5, 2, 5 and 10 h was investigated. Time–temperature sensitisation (TTS) diagrams were created based on corrosion test (ASTM A 262, practice A) results. In the case of AISI 316L (0% CW), M23C6, chi and sigma phases precipitated at grain boundaries, and the Laves phase was mainly inside of the grains. In the case of AISI 316L (40% CW), sigma, chi, Laves and M23C6 were identified and precipitated mainly along the grain boundaries as well as on the shear bands within different annealing times. It was confirmed that the increase in the annealing time caused an increase in the amounts of secondary phases. Secondary phases in the equilibrium state were calculated using Thermo-Calc software.  相似文献

In this paper, spark plasma diffusion bonding technology was employed to join TiAl and Ti2AlNb with high temperature titanium alloy interlayer at 950 °C/10kN/60 min, then following furnace cooling at cooling rate up to 100 °C/min. After welding, the joint was aging heat-treated at 800 °C for 24 h. The microstructure and the elements diffusion of the TiAl/Ti2AlNb joint was analyzed by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) with EDS. Moreover, the tensile properties of the joint were tested at room temperature, 650 °C, and 750 °C. The results show that the spark plasma diffusion bonding formed a high quality TiAl/Ti2AlNb joint without microcracks or microvoids, while also effectively protecting the base metal. Significant differences in the microstructure of the joint appeared from TiAl side to Ti2AlNb side: TiAl BM (Base Metal) → DP(Duplex) and NG (Near-Gamma) → α2-phase matrix with needle-like α-phase → bulk α2-phase → needle-like α-phase → metastable β-phase → Ti2AlNb BM. After heat treatment at 800 °C for 24 h, the microstructure of the TiAl side and the interlayer region did not change, but the density and size of the needle-like α-phase in region 3 increased slightly. The microstructure of Ti2AlNb near the weld changed obviously, and a large number of fine O phases are precipitated from the metastable β phase matrix after heat treatment. Except for the Ti2AlN near-interface region, the effect of heat treatment on the microstructure of the joint is not significant. The microhardness of the joint is in the shape of a mountain peak. The maximum microhardness at the interface is above 500 HV, and it is significantly reduced to 400 HV after heat treatment. The fracture of the joint occurred at the interface at room temperature, 650 °C, and 750 °C. with the tensile strength 450 MPa, 540 MPa, and 471 Mpa, respectively, and mainly showing brittle fracture.  相似文献

This paper presents the results of tests conducted on the HR6W (23Cr-45Ni-6W-Nb-Ti-B) alloy under low-cycle fatigue at room temperature and at 650 °C. Fatigue tests were carried out at constant values of the total strain ranges. The alloy under low-cycle fatigue showed cyclic strengthening both at room temperature and at 650 °C. The degree of HR6W strengthening described by coefficient n’ was higher at higher temperatures. At the same time, its fatigue life Nf at room temperature was, depending on the range of total strain adopted in the tests, several times higher than observed at 650 °C.  相似文献

The carbide precipitation kinetics in a Fe-22Mn-0.45C TWIP steel subjected to three different cold-deformation levels, annealed at various temperatures, were studied. The studied carbides included chemical compositions, morphology, precipitation sites, volume fraction, and size. Manganese carbides were precipitated in a temperature range between 525 and 650 °C. Volume fraction increased with cold-deformation and decreased with annealing temperature. Carbide size increased with cold-deformation and annealing temperatures up to 625 °C, suffering a notable reduction at 650 °C. Precipitation kinetics were described by means of precipitation curves for 0.1% (vol.) of Fe-Mn-carbides. A kinetic model was used, and two stages were found. Complementarily, austenite grain size and microhardness were also measured. With increases in annealing time, microhardness decreased until it reached a nearly constant value, indicating that recrystallization was complete, while, with increases in annealing temperature, grain size increased.  相似文献

Carbide precipitation and coarsening are investigated for quenched Dievar steel during tempering. Lath/lenticular martensite, retained austenite, lower bainite, auto-tempered, and larger spherical carbides are all observed in the as-quenched condition. The carbide precipitation sequence on tempering is ascertained to be: M8C7 + cementite → M8C7 + M2C + M7C3 → M8C7 + M7C3 + M23C6 → M8C7 + M7C3 + M23C6 + M6C; carbides become coarser on tempering, and the sizes for inter-lath carbides increase noticeably with increasing tempering temperatures due to the faster grain boundary diffusion, whereas the sizes for intra-lath carbides remain nearly constant. The rate of coarsening for carbides by tempering at 650 °C is much higher than those by tempering at 550 °C and 600 °C, due to the faster diffusion of alloying elements at higher temperatures.  相似文献

In this study, Fe40Cr19Mo18C15B8 amorphous coatings were prepared using high velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) technology. Different temperatures were used in the heat treatment (600 °C, 650 °C, and 700 °C) and the annealed coatings were analyzed by DSC, SEM, TEM, and XRD. XRD and DSC results showed that the coating started to form a crystalline structure after annealing at 650 °C. From the SEM observation, it can be found that when the annealing temperature of the Fe-based amorphous alloy coating reached 700 °C, the surface morphology of the coating became relatively flat. TEM observation showed that when the annealing temperature of the Fe-based amorphous alloy coating was 700 °C, crystal grains in the coating recrystallized with a grain size of 5–20 nm. SAED analysis showed that the precipitated carbide phase was M23C6 phase with different crystal orientations (M = Fe, Cr, Mo). Finally, the corrosion polarization curve showed that the corrosion current density of the coating after annealing only increased by 9.13 μA/cm2, which indicated that the coating after annealing treatment still had excellent corrosion resistance. It also proved that the Fe-based amorphous alloy coating can be used in high-temperature environments. XPS analysis showed that after annealing FeO and Fe2O3 oxide components increased, and the formation of a large number of crystals in the coating resulted in a decrease in corrosion resistance.  相似文献

In this contribution, we investigate the influence of thermal processing routes on the formability of medium Mn steel by assessing the strain hardening coefficient and anisotropy factor using the uniaxial tensile test. Medium Mn steel processed by intercritical annealing (IA) at 680 °C for 4 h demonstrates better formability than steel treated with a combination of IA at 800 °C for 10 min and quenching and partitioning (Q&P), based on the much higher strain hardening coefficient (n) and comparable anisotropy factor (r, rm, ∆r). The higher strain hardening coefficient of medium Mn steel with single IA treatment is ascribed to the enhanced transformation-induced plasticity (TRIP) effect resulting from the large amount of austenite that is transformed into martensite during deformation. In addition, the IA process allows for the production of medium Mn steel with high ductility, which is beneficial for its high formability and good ‘part ductility’ in lightweight automotive applications.  相似文献

The microstructure and mechanical properties of as-aged Mg-6Zn-4Sn-1Mn-xAl (ZTM641-xAl, x = 0, 0.2, 0.5, 1, 2, 3 and 4 wt.%) alloys are studied in this paper. In terms of microstructure, the results reveal that the addition of Al mainly leads to the formation of the Al8Mn5, Al11Mn4, Al2Mg5Zn2 and Mg32(Al,Zn)49 phases. With increases in the addition of Al, the average grain size first decreases and then increases, while the undissolved phases increase. The average grain size of the ZTM641-0.5Al alloy is the smallest, and the single-aged and double-aged grain size is 14 μm and 12 μm, respectively. As for mechanical properties, with increases in the Al element, the strength decreases, and the elongation first increases and then decreases. The double-aged ZTM641-0.2Al alloy exhibits favorable mechanical properties at room temperature, and the UTS, YS and elongation are 384 MPa, 360 MPa and 9%, respectively. Further, the double-aged ZTM641-0.2Al alloy exhibits the comprehensive mechanical properties at 150 °C, that is, the UTS, YS and elongation are 212 MPa, 196 MPa and 29%, respectively, which is about 45% higher than that of the elongation of ZTM641. The ZTM641-xAl alloys exhibits mixed fracture at room temperature, and, with increases in the addition of Al, the fracture mechanisms of alloys are mixed fracture, ductile fracture and mixed fracture at 200 °C.  相似文献

The article presents the results of research on the structural evolution of the composite Fe-Al-based coating deposited by arc spray with initial low participation of in situ intermetallic phases. The arc spraying process was carried out by simultaneously melting two different electrode wires, aluminum and low alloy steel (98.6 wt.% of Fe). The aim of the research was to reach protective coatings with a composite structure consisting of a significant participation of FexAly as intermetallic phases reinforcement. Initially, synthesis of intermetallic phases took place in situ during the spraying process. In the next step, participation of FexAly fraction was increased through the annealing process, with three temperature values, 700 °C, 800 °C, and 900 °C. Phase structure evolution of the Fe-Al arc-sprayed coating, stimulated by annealing, has been described by means of SEM images taken with a QBSD backscattered electron detector and by XRD and conversion electron Mössbauer spectroscopy (CEMS) investigations. Microhardness distribution of the investigated annealed coatings has been presented.  相似文献
